Lillian Farms was amazing! The property is so beautiful and both Barbara and Tyler are great to work with. My family lives out of state and came a couple times to Houston for the planning process. Each time they of course wanted to check out the venue and Lillian Farms was very accommodating. They have a variety of packages to choose from. I can not say enough great things about the whole process with them. If you are looking for a beautiful country spot for your wedding, this is the place!! We are already planning our anniversary trip to the property!
Southern Dream was a total NIGHTMARE. Worst vacation ever at Lillian Farms. I understand that it is a cabin in the woods so I looked past the bugs and dirt and gross moldy smell. But at the end of our stay we were charged an extra cleaning fee to get rid of the smell which I was told was my doing. This "cottage" was small and over priced. It says that it sleeps 4 but they charge you $40 per person a night extra after 2 people. I paid $80 a night extra for my 2 kids to sleep in a cramped loft that you can't stand up in. The hot tub was broken and no compensation or apologies were given to me. I found mouse poop in the bottom utensil drawer and under the kitchen sink. The cooking utensils were old and melted and scratched. There was hair in the refrigerator. A broken cabinet door fell and hit me in the head when I tried to open it. I had to buy my own toilet paper and trash bags. We were only left 3 towels for 4 people and the inkeeper seemed annoyed that I asked her to bring out more. There was a sign post marking where the cabin is located on the gravel road leading to the driveway and someone knocked it over while we were there. It wasn't us but the owner believes that we are responsible because it is out in front of the cabin we rented. We were not the only people who drove near this sign during our stay. There was one plate that I ruined and would be willing to pay for but the owner compiled a list of bogus extra charges and then charged it to my credit card without contacting me first. I got an email afterwards saying it had been done. We were there for a wedding and the owner said that if we dispute the charges she will charge the wedding party. So BEWARE. You don't want to have a wedding here because then you may be responsible for all of the accommodations on site while having your wedding. My husband called and tried to reason with the owner who said we were just trying to shirk our responsibilities. I sent her a long email giving her a chance to respond and rectify but she did not. I do not recommend this venue for any event or vacation.
We fell in love with Lillian Farms immediately, it is beautiful, Barbara has really done an excellent job with her property. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The ONLY thing I have negative to say about Lillian Farms is I felt like a child with notes all over our cottage on what we would be charged or to make sure we put the trash out, clean any dishes, there were quite a few little reminders posted all over. My husband and I woke up the day after our wedding and did the dishes, collected any trash (which was a couple bags because I had 6 women get ready in our cottage), double checked everything, then went back and triple checked. I totally understand where they are coming from because there are people who aren't going to treat the rooms like they would treat their own stuff, but when I spend that kind of money somewhere I don't want to be reminded constantly with notes about what needs to be done before I leave, I want to enjoy my time there. Like I said, Barbara keeps her property impeccable and is such a lovely woman, she really is wonderful, and you can see that this is her home and very special to her, as it should be! Our wedding was amazing and her staff was lovely. Regardless of all the little notes I would still have our wedding there again tomorrow! We will go back for a vacation or weekend and hopefully get to fish this time!
This venue was absolutely beautiful. We had an outdoor ceremony in the beautiful garden and the reception indoors. It was perfect for our country themed wedding.
Do not have your wedding at Lillian Farms. Trust me on this. Don't get me wrong the area is beautiful, just like any other area in Washington county. But the owner, Barbara has made me regret almost every bit of it. I have never in my life encountered such a rude, hateful, and pretentious person who claims to be in the hospitality industry. From the very first day we viewed the property, all she talked about was money and wanted to make it very clear how "she made her living" and by the way "It is not from weddings, it's from her rooms", which to me was a clear sign of financially struggling, which that's a whole other story. Back to the wedding - there is a 10 page contract listing things you will not be able to do, which some of it I agreed with but some was just flat out ridiculous. For example, your guests will be required to reserve the rooms for 2 nights, which will be around $500 for an average room at best, the nicer ones more, and breakfast consisting of bagels and cereal. Then they will have to take out their own trash and clean any dishes in their room that they use. The morning after my wedding day I had to clean the dishes in our room before we left in addition to taking out the trash!! On the day of your wedding while you are standing inside the house waiting for the ceremony to start and guest are being seated, your family will not be allowed in the house. Yep, that's right. Only my bridesmaids and father could stay with me. My mother, the groom's mother, grandparents, etc. had to stand outside on the porch with the doors locked because Barbara couldn't stand to have people who "did not rent rooms" be in the main house. In fact she walked up to my mother and very hatefully told her she needed to get out. After the ceremony our guests had to get back in their cars and drive to the stables where the reception will be held, which is right by the ceremony area because "people can't walk on the grass". So now I have a line of cars in the background as we were taking pictures. We only had the stables for 4 hours yet, we were told we would have the property till Sunday at noon. Still don't understand that one. For the set up, they made it very clear that they "Will NOT set up tables". Heaven forbid they had to actually work for their money. I told them the amount and types of tables I needed and they were literally in a pile and we were in charge of setting up all the tables and chairs. Something else I thought very weird was that Barbara kept pushing me to get a wedding coordinator which I knew I would not need and sure enough I did not need one. Now I know why, she wanted someone to gripe at the entire night and hold accountable for everything. In fact right before I walked down the aisle she came up to me frantic and snapping at me because I didn't have a wedding planner, needless to say my bridesmaid stepped in to get her away from me. It's just going back to what a rude and selfish person she is, that right at that moment which I was freaking out enough already she comes griping to me because I don't have a wedding planner! Whatever. Lastly, my sister who has 2 small children couldn't even go to bed till 3 hours after the end of the reception because their "amazing" room had a pea trap clog and the sewage smell was so strong they could barely stay in their room. Was this problem solved? No. When they asked if they could switch rooms they were told sorry everything is booked and the problem was not fixed.
Lillian Farms was the perfect place for our wedding! It has several outdoor areas one can choose from to have their ceremony, and a barn built just for wedding receptions. The wedding party was able to stay at the B&B that whole weekend, making it much easier to set up and take down for the wedding. The whole team of people at Lillian Farms is so easy to work with, and they have a lot of experience with weddings, so they can always give an honest opinion. They also give you a list of several vendors that they suggest for the food, flowers, cake, etc... It was a perfect place!
PS: it is also a pet friendly venue! :)
