My friend was supposed to get married here the day after Hurricane Helene. There was no power at Lindsey Plantation and trees were all over the driveways. We were under state of emergency. It’s already devastating enough for a brides wedding to be ruined because of a hurricane and to make it worse the owner won’t refund her any money. It’s not like the bride cancelled the wedding, no one had power or anything. Don’t use this lady. All she cares about is money.
My best advice? Have generators and chain saws on hand just in case another hurricane Helene comes through and causes a state of emergency and ultimately ruins your wedding. Because when the owner says her contract says no refunds… she means no refunds. Even if the venue and home place has no power and roads are blocked with downed trees and power lines. When you’re hoping to receive a little bit of mercy after such a horrible tragedy and the only response you get from the owner is “sorry no refunds “. I’ve never been more disappointed in humanity. I can assure you that the owner does not care who she hurts along the way. Her first and only priority is $$$.
Lindsay Plantation is absolutely the most beautiful venue you will find. The gorgeous venue, the amazing house, the beautful gardens, the gorgeous views….
Gods beauty is ever present and remarkably felt and seen here!
Estella is incredible! She made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it, and she goes above and beyond to be sure everything was just perfect for us! Her professionalism, as well as her big heart, and the way she cares about every detail is unmatched. We felt her love and care not only for her magnificent facility, but her love and care for us and making this day so special and perfect! She is truly an amazing woman and this venue is the very best you will find!
Estella was simply amazing and thought of every detail of our wedding ! I am so very happy that we chose this venue for our wedding ! !
Working with Estela was great, she was easy to talk to and get a hold of as well as put the venue together beautifully for our reception.
I have a few notes though-- I was a little concerned about the weather due to our wedding being in January and she reassured me several times that she had heaters and that her barn was made to retain heat. Unfortunately, we had to end our reception early because so many of our guests were leaving due to the inside of the venue being so cold. The pipes in the bathroom were frozen so flushing was suggested "only as needed;" you could see everyone's breath and my guests were wearing coats, not something I necessarily want to see in my photos but didn't want guests to be any colder than necessary. My only other note was that for 120 people, the way we had the dancefloor set up, there was no room to walk around the dining area. Just a note, the recommended set up is the only set up.
If you are a winter bride I suggest looking someplace else, or at least be aware that it will be a cold inside as well as outside. I had to grin and bear it for my guest but it's not something I am entirely pleased about and wouldn't wish the same for anyone else.
Lindsey Plantation was absolutely a breathtaking venue for my daughter’s wedding and reception. The owner Estela Lindsey was fantastic, she went above and beyond to make sure my Daughter’s Wedding Day was perfect and stress free, Estela was such a blessing and she is not only the owner of Lindsey Plantation she is now a lifelong friend. Everything was absolutely perfect and beautiful and we are so pleased with everything and we RECOMMEND Lindsey Plantation 1000%.
I was so very pleased with Estella and her employees. Estella is very inviting and gracious. She went out of her way to make my daughter's day perfect.
The venue is gorgeous and offers a variety of table linens, centerpieces, etc. I could go on for an eternity about how wonderful this venue and its owner are.
I rented the house for the night before the wedding for myself, the bride and her girls. We had a fabulous time and the house was amazing.
After attending a wedding at this venue, I KNEW it would be the perfect place for my daughters’ post elopement reception. The way this venue is laid out allows for multiple areas for gathering along with intimate spaces for personal conversation. From the grand choices of linens, place settings and center pieces to Estella’s guidance and professionalism, this venue has it all! I would highly recommend this venue for any event from the grandest wedding to the quaintest gathering. And let’s not forget THE VIEWS!
The property/view is beautiful. That’s about the only good thing. The Owner is unprofessional and very pushy in an overbearing sense. She was mocking and trying to argue with one of my other vendors after the ceremony in front of everyone before the reception. She followed us around the entire time and basically watched everything everyone did. Someone fell and broke a hip at my wedding and my own family member was hurt during a visit, there are unmarked fall risks and areas that should have clear markings for step downs or even places that should be covered so they don’t cause people to fall. The house can look antique without having antique showers and poor water pressure. With the amount you pay to stay in the house it should be updated and be cleaned a little better than it was for guests.
Did not have a good experience in general.
Incredible venue and value!!! I HIGHLY recommend Lindsey Plantation. Estela is incredible and will go above and beyond to work with you and make sure your day is perfect. They also have a 5-bedroom 3-full-bath guest house with a nice patio outside that me and my bridesmaids stayed in the night before the wedding. Endless compliments from our wedding guests on the venue and the idyllic location. Thank you Estela!
Estella and Lindsey Plantation was the dream wedding for our daughter. From the first time she saw it, it was love at first sight! You could feel the love that Estella has for her beautiful mountain venue and we instantly bonded with her! The mountain ceremony site is so beautiful and the barn area for the reception was perfect. To make things even more smooth, we rented the Five bedroom homeplace on property an it made the weekend feel like a get away! She has thought of everything and is their to make the bride and grooms every dream come true. We highly recommend this venue filled with love and beauty.
If we could give it 10 stars we would!

Estella and her plantation are amazing. This is a wonderful rustic stable building converted into an event venue. It is wonderfully decorated and well laid out. It gets a little warm in the main building, but it is tolerable.
Pros and Cons.
My daughter and son-n-law had their wedding at Lindsey Plantation in December. The venue is beautiful. Even the home for the rehearsal dinner/party is simple and elegant. There are some items included that you might not find other places for the same price. Those items include linens, dinnerware, some decorations. It is very convenient and makes it easy. Besides the fact the chairs for the ceremony were not set up until 1 hour before the ceremony everything, as far as setting, it was good. Do not plan to do the rehearsal without an idea of where chairs will be. Our wedding party adjusted quickly; however, this would have been a huge issue if they had not thought quickly.
Now, the biggest con is honestly the owner. What was the biggest jaw dropper is that not only was she intrusive during the reception, but she literally held up my daughter walking down the isle because she was wanting pictures on her phone for her website. It was so bad our wedding planner was ready to step in. She moved about during the ceremony as she pleased and was a distraction. She was on the heels of the couple as they went back down the isle.
She is in all of the wedding video. She jumps in front of almost every frame of the video. From the 1st dance to cutting the cake there she is. She sat down with guests and socialized. She took the bride and grooms food away before they had time to eat. The list goes on and on. She and her workers took many of our personalize items to her decor room where we had to get them back (this is why she has 'collected' so many items). They threw Clorox water on the floor before we were done loading everything. We had to walk through it the last half hour.
The pictures she took and posted, without written consent, are very unflattering. She could not have picked any worse. It would have been great to know she was going to want those beforehand. Maybe she could have the photographer supply some and give credit to them.
Our wedding planner said she had never had an owner present, let alone so intrusive. It was beyond unprofessional.
Now, with all that said. You have to weigh the pros and cons. It is a great location and the price is great. The availability of the dinnerware, etc is a much added bonus. But again, hindsight advice, be more direct about her presence and expectations.
I LOVED this venue for my wedding! It was absolutely perfect and Estella was amazing! I would recommend to anyone!!!
Lindsey Plantation made my son and daughter-in-law's wedding a dream come true! It was as beautiful as we could have ever imagined. Everyone was so nice and easy to work with, I am so glad we chose this location for their special day
Lindsey Plantation was the perfect place for our wedding! The scenery there is absolutely gorgeous, and we loved the unique layout of the converted stables. Estela is so welcoming and friendly that we felt like she was one of the family! Her vivacious personality is contagious. Estela worked diligently with us and our wedding coordinator to create the wedding of dreams. Thank you!!
Gorgeous location and the decor of the stable is wonderful. Estella did a great job working with us on the layout of the tables. The perfect fall weather was icing on the cake.
Estela was amazing. My son's wedding at Lindsey Plantations was absolutely perfect!!!
Just had my wedding here and if I could, I would get married again here over and over again! Estela is amazing and the venue is like no other.
What a beautiful venue, both indoor and out. The sunset wedding I attended last weekend was beyond gorgeous. The owner was kind and helpful to all the guests, and everyone had a great time here. I would definitely recommend Lindsey Plantation.
Fantastic owner, clean venue, amazing fall views, quiet, and all around just amazing.
Very helpful throughout the entire process. She made sure everything was ready for the day of and everything that I wanted. She made sure that everything went smoothly on the wedding day. I couldn't have picked a better place to get married!
I have been thinking long and hard on this review because I absolutely loved the venue and the view but there were somethings that happened that stick out in your mind that are things that I didn't want to think about on my wedding day. So here is a list of pros and cons for the venue.
Pros:
1) beautiful venue. The scenery is amazing and the barn is amazing.
2) Vendor is very accommodating when she can be
3) Were able to rent out the venue for the weekend
4) Didn't have to worry about any rentals
5) A lot of space to be able to have clear flows through the event. A clear ceremony space, cocktail hour, reception, catering area.
6) the house on property has a lot of room for getting ready in the morning. It was really nice to be able to get ready on property and not have to be transported.
Cons:
1) Vendors organizational system. After the event I am about to describe she committed to updating this system. She used a 100% paper system. So basically 30 days before the wedding day I contacted her to see if everything was still in place and how to get her the final payment. At that time she called me and told me that she didn't have me on the calendar and that there might be another bride booked for that day. Luckily it was a mis-communication with her organizational system but still gave me a pretty serious panic attack.
2) I would recommend a wedding planner to anyone who books here to help keep Estella on track to the time table. Estella is an amazingly caring, generous person with this venue however she tends to get caught up with 50 million things at once and it helps to have someone help to keep her on track.
3) She will not set out ceremony chairs until 2 hours before the start time. This prevented the florist from completing her set up and forced my wedding planner to finish this part of the setup.
4) She will clean up the event 30 min before the end of the reception to the point in which she actually asked guests to get up from seats so that she could tear down tables.
5) Even if you rent the event for the weekend you are to have everything cleaned up before you leave that evening. On multiple occasions I had inquired when the we had to be out of the venue. Estella stated that we had it for the weekend so we were planning on coming back and getting the stuff that we provided on Sunday morning. She also came up to me (not my wedding planner) to find out who was cleaning up all of our stuff before we left on our wedding night. Instead of leaving to go down to the house with my new husband I spent an hour in my dress helping to pack up everything. This could have been a mis-communication when we signed the contract but still not how I planned to spend my wedding night.
Overall the venue was amazing and none of the Cons were show stoppers or really that big of an issue the day of but it is still something that I wish would have been made more clear when we signed up for this venue. I would still recommend this vendor to my friends but would also highly recommend a wedding planner as well to help coordinate the day.
Estella made our day the best day ever! She made sure we didn’t have to worry about anything but relaxing and making memories! Thank you for helping make my little girls dream wedding become a reality!
I would love to thank Estela and her staff for the wonderful job they done for my daughters wedding. They made ever effort to make sure we were taken care of and my guest. It is far the best venue I have ever been too. The day was wonderful and it all to the wonderful job they did getting every little detail done. We had a great time and very stress free from all the worries. If anyone looking for a great venue I would highly recommend this place beautiful view and just wonderful. Thanks again.
Lindsey plantation is a very special place and we highly suggest it as the best place to get married. Estela made our wedding even more amazing than we could have imagined. She is extremely professional as well as caring and truly puts her all into the weddings she plans. We are lucky to have come across Lindsey Plantation whole looking dog-friendly venues and even though our fur babies ended up not being in the ceremony our wedding was absolutely straight out of a fairytale.
Absolutely wonderful! Wish i could give more then 5 stars! I Had My Wedding here & it was everything i had hoped for !! I would recommend this venue to anyone!! The location not only sports wide open grassy pastures, a beautiful reception barn, but also has a magnificent view of the mountains in the distance. We just adore Estella & her Plantation.
Linsey Plantation is a lovely place to have a wedding! My day could not have been more perfect! I would highly recommend having your wedding here!
We were married in October and it could not have been more perfect! The Venue itself is breathtaking! The lighting and ambience is like a fairytale. Stella was accommodating and there were so many options for what we could do!!! We chose to have the ceremony in the field and our reception in the barn. Women got ready at the homeplace and the men had a special place in the barn to get dressed.
You cant go wrong with this Venue!
Beautiful and perfect
I have attended many events at Lindsay Plantation and each and every time the venue has been stunning and Estela has been present and overseeing every detail to exacting standards. Estela is a charming and gracious host who demands perfection for every event. Changes are immediately not just accommodated but accomplished with such style and grace that you would never realize there was a change. I wholeheartedly recommend Lindsay Plantation for any event you may have. A beautiful venue and a wonderful and thoughtful staff.
Lindsey Plantation is a venue just outside Greenville, S.C. so it was easy and great to find such a beautiful place that offered the admitties that we were looking for.
Estella was a delight to work with and made everything easy .
Please read before even touring this venue!!!!!!!! I was double booked and she canceled my wedding.
I met for a tour with Estella the owner everything seemed perfect she had my wedding date available and promised lots of things she wrote it down on her calendar made us a file and we wrote her a check that day!!!
my wedding is currently two months away...invitations have been mailed, out of town guest flights are booked & all of my vendors are paid for... the owner called me and told me that my wedding date was DOUBLE BOOKED and that I needed to either change my date or I could have my money back. ( trust me 2 months out.. getting money back is not that simple)
Most other venues in the area are already booked on my wedding date or are completely out of budget.
The owner of this venue is extremely rude, doesn’t have ANY COMPASSION, doesn’t understand the magnitude of stress she caused. She only apologized one time.
At first when we met with her to see all options she told us that she would pay for new invites that would have to be mailed out and now she is refusing and claiming that she never said that.
I am a very honest person and I have not caused her any trouble but this is happening.. Do not get married here! Please read all other reviews- this is not the only issue at this venue with this Terrible owner.
I actually have held my reviews while we waited for Estella Lindsey ( owner) to respond to our certified letter that outlined the multitude of issues that were not handled, However, she rejected the letter and refused to comment on her blunders. For starters, my husband and his parents went for a site visit and felt very confident in all of Estella’s promises knowing that our wedding would take place on New Years Eve. I think I can sum it up in list form
1- NONE of the heaters were turned on until guests showed up. It was below freezing all day and she didn’t start warming the building so that it wouldn’t be miserable for our guests
2- she had a back up facility but never offered knowing that she had no intentions of warming the reception site
3- she stole decorations I purchased after confronting me towards the end of my reception asking “ what she could keep?”
4- when we went to Pick up the kegs the following day, she came to us and asked “ how would we be hauling off the trash from the reception?!?!?” Are you serious? That should be included in the facility rental
5- she made many promises but never sent a contract
6- she requests the check for the balance be made out to her personally
I caution anyone that considers using the Lindsey- don’t. Save yourselves a lot of headache.
I never thought I would want to have a do over but I wish I could take it all back and do it over again because of all the screw ups she made. It was so cold inside- people didn’t stay to eat the food we paid for. My grandfather who is 91 was so cold he had to leave before I had ONE picture with him. And the list goes on. I hope this helps someone else.
LOOK ELSEWHERE!
When we initially went to visit this wedding venue, I thought it the surroundings and view were beautiful. I was taken back by the rustic appearance of everything. However, the owner was very spastic, and it felt like she was rushing us through the process. She was trying to plan our whole wedding day right then. Every time we would try to speak she would dismiss our concerns and tell us she would do everything.
Luckily, I went to a friend's wedding after that and I was able to see how everything flowed. Needless to say I was not impressed by the owner. She was very unprofessional and yelled for everyone to go take a seat at the ceremony site. We were all huddled inside because it was so cold. When we were walking to the ceremony site, there was a sign LEFT FROM THE WEDDING THE WEEKEND BEFORE!! It even had the bride and groom's name on it. I can't believe she didn't see that sign when setting up chairs. I jerked the sign up and laid it flat on the ground. That just showed her lack of attention to detail.
Then, at the reception, when she saw people were finished eating she started CLEANING UP DECORATIONS from the tables and throwing the flower petals IN THE TRASH! I was appalled! She shouldn't have a touched a single thing except for a dirty dish until AFTER EVERYONE had left. My mom got up to speak to the bride and groom and when she returned her drink had been thrown away. The owner then was reaching OVER my mom to throw other things away off of the tables. We felt like we were being pushed to leave early, and that WAS NOT how I wanted to be treated on my wedding day, especially with how expensive this place is. So I decided right then I was going to find another venue.
A few weeks later I called the owner to tell her we had found another venue, and had her on speaker phone so my fiance could hear her reaction. When she answered the phone she sounded so flustered, and I asked if it was a bad time to call. Her response was "WELL YEAH, I'M SETTING UP FOR TWO EVENTS RIGHT NOW." First of all, that's not profession, and second of all, she could have politely asked if she could return my call the next day. I asked her to call me back when she had a minute to talk. About 20 minutes later, she called me back and I told her we had found another venue, thanked her for her time, and told her that her property was beautiful. Keep in mind that I had NOT SIGNED ANY CONTRACT and I was calling 10 MONTHS PRIOR to the date we booked with her. I kindly asked for our down payment back, and she refused. She said basically it didn't matter whether she booked the spot we cancelled our not, because she already had our money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. There are plenty of other places with mountain views that are professional and seasoned in hosting weddings.
The owner of this venue is unethical. When she was involved in horses, she was a crook and con artist. She caused undo hardship and emotional distress for my family. Please beware. I'm disappointed to see she is still in business in any capacity. Her business ethics, treatment of animals and victimization of clients should be a concern for anyone involved with her.
Beautiful venue, stressful experience.
The Good: The views, country/ rustic atmosphere, rooms for bride, groom, etc. And outdoor or indoor choice.
The Bad: Our guest had to take the chairs in because the owner didn't have enough men power to do it. (not a joke). No A/C (even in the bride room), no fridge, no place to put the trash (warning the owner won't tell you this), no place to warm the food, the add on cost for chairs or plates, etc. And the worst; The owner witch create a stressful experience. She won't give you a detail contract. She will be there during the wedding eating, taking food for her, her employees and apparently for her entire family without asking because "she is the owner of the venue". The employees will take the plates and cups right away form your table (like in the Chinese buffet), and if you say something prepare to be yell at. I can deal with the everything else but not with an administrator like this.
So, if you can find a better place to have your event, do it. If not, have somebody tough enough to deal with the owner, or you and your family will be stress out.
A bit pricey and she charges for little things like each chair and linen used, but she sets up and cleans up and really loves her brides. She is energetic and wants to make everything perfect for you! No complaints here!
All of my guest absolutely loved the venue. Stella made sure everything went perfect for us. And the location of the venue is perfect. The pictures captured at the venue left me speechless. Happy memories.
I was married at Lindsey Plantation 2.5 years, and was recently asked about my experience there. It is a beautiful venue, but it was not worth the stress that Estella, the owner, put on my family. She told us one price and kept adding on additional fees and did not follow through with her promises. I highly suggest going with a different vendor.
Ex.
1. My wedding was in December, and I asked her two separate times about heating the stable. She insisted that it would be heated. I got a phone call 4 days before the wedding from Estella, she asked me what I was planning on doing about heating. Our only option at that point was for us to spend $1000 on heaters that we had to have delivered to the plantation.
2. I stayed in the plantation house the night before the ceremony. My parents got a phone call while I was on my honeymoon from Estella. She told them I broke one of her chairs, and insisted that my parents pay her for it. My dad went to look at the chair, which I did not break, and noticed that there was already nail glue on the chair where someone tried to fix it before. So that means she took money from us for a broken chair that she knows was already broken.
3. We used the plantation house for the rehearsal dinner the night before, and she used the same tables for both the rehearsal and the reception. She did not have anyone to transport the table to the stable for the wedding the next day, so my dad and father-in-law had to carry all the tables up to the stable. Keep in mind she promised all this would be handled.
4. She told me not to worry about decorations (because she said she had her Christmas decorations that she used every year that matched my colors) or set up that it would be done before the wedding. I went 3 days before to look at the stable, and NOTHING was set up/decorated. My sister and mother had to take down both of their Christmas trees in their own homes and all their home decorations to decorate the stable.
5. Estella will claim to be the wedding "director". We found out this does not mean what you would think it does. The night before the rehearsal I had to hire a wedding director because I found out she was not actually the "director".
Estella, did not care that she caused all this stress on my family. There are other places in the area that are just as beautiful as Lindsey Plantation.
Please take my advice and use a different venue.
We had our wedding in October 2013 at Lindsey Plantation. When we originally looked at the venue, we fell in love. It provided the perfect rustic and classic setting we were looking for, along with a beautiful view of the mountains. We were planning our wedding on a budget, so we were initially impressed with the fee to rent the venue for the day. From there, the charges just kept adding up, unfortunately. Estella didn't have a price sheet to include all the items she rents out, so I sometimes felt like I was being given an arbitrary price. I saw another review below about confusion on agreements - we were promised early set-up, but had another event booked the night before our wedding, which added additional stress. It ended up working out in the end and our wedding was beautiful, but we ended up spending significantly more on all the little things we were charged for that day (even things we didn't say we wanted, which was frustrating). All in all, I was pleased and we got so many compliments on the beauty of the venue, but be prepared for several extra charges (not just tables and chairs). I would have rather it been one flat fee that included everything, even if it was a higher price. It left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, I'll admit - it was not the most "stress-free" experience for me leading up to the big day.
LOVED everything about this place. Gorgeous mountain views, rustic barn, and open skies.
Could not have asked for more. The location was everything I dreamed of and more and Estella is a doll to work with. Looking for a outdoor wedding with a rustic look? THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!
My wedding at Lindsey Plantation turned out very beautiful despite several frustrations. The wedding was held in the field outdoors and the reception followed in the stable. The owner was very nice, but couldn't keep her story straight. Originally, she had said we could have our rehearsal dinner there, but then 2 months before the wedding said it was going to be an extra 800 charge. She told us the night we signed the contract we could bring stuff in on Wednesday and begin decorating Thursday (the wedding was on Saturday). Later, at our final meeting, she said we couldn't begin bringing things in or decorating until Friday at 3pm. Also, there is no ice maker, so the caterer has to bring ice. It was very difficult to find a caterer willing and equipped to work here. There is no way for the caterer to warm food, or keep it cool. Not even a refrigerator. Despite fans, it was also very hot. Then again, it was late June in South Carolina, so what did I expect, right? The venue looks like a great deal in the beginning, but when all is said and done, you've had to pay extra for so many things that were originally "included" it comes out just about the same as any other venue would be.
my wedding was at the lindsey plantion this summer and it was everything that i have ever wanted it was absolutly everthing i imagined!! estella lindsey is the owner and she is the sweetest and will do everything she can for you to make your day special! the platation is absolutly beautiful it has such a southern charm! its over all amazing!
