The lack of recent, or any reviews should have been a red flag, especially in an industry where vendors rely on reviews for business, but a smooth story was concocted when questioned. Now that the wedding planning process is over, it is clear t...o me why there are no reviews “permitted”, because they would be less than flattering. So, I hope this saves some other potential brides some heartache, frustration, and disappointment.
From the initial interview with Lisa, to contracting her, she morphed into a completely different person. She was regularly unprepared for meetings, often adding no value. We had hoped that she would keep us on track, but instead we had to stay extremely organized and ensure we were accomplishing tasks within the proper time frame, because we could not rely on her. During every meeting, she was always distracted and excuses were commonplace when working with her.
Adding to the frustration would be the lack of knowledge and understanding that Lisa demonstrated with her chosen wedding planning Software, Aisleplanner.
Things got worse when the wedding weekend came around. She showed up late to the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day. Our ceremony rehearsal was unorganized and haphazard. It seemed as though this was the first time she had ever run a rehearsal, it was managed so poorly. She proceeded to be extremely unfocused the entire day, seemingly more interested in posting on social media than being focused on managing the events the day of.
She was nowhere to be found the entire day, especially when she was needed by the bridal party for various things.
She was not present for getting ready pictures, nor were any of her assistants. We had a wardrobe issue while getting ready where a button needed to be sewn back on, and our photography team had to step in to sew it back on.
Bridal Party Portraits, again, her and her team were nowhere to be found. The groomsmen were not prepared and did not have their boutonnieres on.
Lisa also did not prepare the groomsmen who were going to be ceremony ushers for their roles. It was 5 minutes before guests were going to be arriving, and I had to track her down to quickly brief the ushers, so they could rush outside to begin seating our guests.
As the bridal party prepared for the processional, it was pure chaos and disorganization. Lisa started to take us out the wrong way, different than what we all discussed and practiced during the rehearsal.
After the ceremony, she was nowhere in sight to help with the bustle. For the grand entrance, she was again unorganized and unprepared, when I had previously provided all applicable details of timing, songs, cues, etc. When my father asked for a lavalier microphone for his speech, she would not get it.
On top of all of the mistakes throughout the process and during the wedding, the worst thing would be the attitude Lisa had towards my bridal party. She was unattached and distant the entire day, building no rapport with the bridal party, a group with which she should have been deeply involved and present with. When we needed something, my bridesmaids were having to run throughout the hotel to track her down. Upon finding her, they were constantly met with attitude.
It was quite embarrassing that my bridesmaids had to step in to the role of planner on my wedding day, instead of being able to relax and enjoy the day. Overall, disappointed does not even begin to describe our experience with Lisa Stoner Events.
