Loco Catering Group

We unfortunately had a terrible experience with taco loco catering (formerly Dave Grant). Incorrect menu prior to our wedding, manager/lead didn't show up to our wedding, terrible communication and zero email response after we reached out x3 following our day (from which I just hoped for any kind of apology and did not plan to leave a bad review or mention our issues in the CT wedding groups hoping it was just a one off and we were caught in the transition of companies). Incredibly disappointed. Of note, they were on the preferred catering list for our venue and the venue manager was also incredibly apologetic as had not had these issues prior but we worked to hire a last minute day of coordinator and luckily the rest of our vendors held it together and made the day run as smooth as possible.

This is not a caterer that I believe should be in the wedding business.  TLDR: After hiring this company for full-service for our wedding with apps, dinner, dessert, bartending, and a coordinator from 4 pm-midnight, their food truck had a fire and didn't serve dinner and they didn't think they should help us get our guests fed. The owner was unsympathetic, unresponsive, and didn't follow through with the solution they agreed upon.  We hired Loco Catering/Taco Loco for our entire wedding, bartending, apps, dinner(tacos), and churros for dessert. It was great at first until unfortunately before dinner, there was a fire in the food truck, and therefore only 2 people received dinner. My brother-in-law was the one who saw the fire and he said the staff did not know what to do about the fire. Whether it was because of a lack of training or just being shell-shocked, he had to tell the staff how to use a fire extinguisher and what they should do.  Our priority was to make sure everyone was safe. The fireman came and everything was put out. Once everything was fine, it was clear that Loco didn't think they should help us figure out a plan for dinner. We thought they would try to get food from their other food truck or the Hops Company where they sell their food, maybe call a restaurant they know in the area that might help us, go to the store to pick up some food, or at least recommend a restaurant to order from. But none of that happened.  When you advertise that you are a premier wedding caterer and all the bride and groom need to do is sit back and relax for your wedding, one would expect that company to help figure out a plan. When you also paid to have a "captain" at your wedding from 4 pm to midnight, to oversee the wedding and make sure things run smoothly, you expect them to help you figure out a plan to feed 100 guests. None of this happened, the captain was sent home, so unfortunately the fireman recommended a pizza place that we ordered from. That place was amazing to us with the short notice. But understandably, the food didn't arrive until a half hour before our wedding ended. Many of our guests left and our schedule got completely shifted with many of our planned things not occurring. The bartenders did stay and told us the owner of the company would talk to us later about the bill. At this point, they had a check from us for the remaining balance. We had only paid the $1,000 deposit.  We did not hear from Loco until 5 days after the wedding. No apology email or call. I then received a call from the owner, Zachary Tomasio saying he hadn't heard from us, and the night of the wedding, he told my husband to call him (which my husband does not recall). When we did call him back, he was not apologetic, and it was clear that he just wanted to figure out the bill. There was not even a thank you or acknowledgment that my brother-in-law helped the staff. He said people liked the apps, so that could stay on our bill, and bartending was good too. We were in shock this call didn't start with an apology and acknowledgment that this wrecked our wedding. We started saying since we hired the catering company for the entire wedding and hired a captain to oversee that the wedding went smoothly, we were surprised that they didn't help us try to feed our guests dinner, of some sort, no matter what the food was. He said he was surprised we thought that and they felt like once the truck was compromised, they felt like they had no responsibility to try to help our guests get food. He could tell we were upset and then started asking us "Well, what do you want?" I couldn't believe a company that talks about amazing customer service didn't have a solution to offer us. I asked him "If this was your wedding, what would you want?" Instead of answering, he just asked what we wanted instead. It was clear that for both of us, this conversation didn't go as expected. I suggested we both think about what a proper solution would be and resume the conversation later.  Since they were a recommended vendor from our venue, we let them know about the situation and asked them what they thought an appropriate solution should be. The venue was very disappointed in hearing all this. They don't normally get involved with vendor/client issues, but this did in the case since it was so extreme. They were kind enough to email the owner, Zach, and suggest if they were me, the bill would be canceled and I should receive my deposit back. He didn't respond and after a week I reached out to our venue again to let them know he didn't respond. They then reached out again and we finally responded to let them know he was out of the country, but he did agree to cancel the balance and asked for my address to return the deposit. I emailed him and sent him my info. After a bit of time, I emailed them again to let them know that the deposit never came and received no response. Of course, I never expected to get that deposit back, but again, it's just extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Since then, we have received two emails from the company asking us to give them reviews on wedding sites, so here it is! We still view our wedding as the best day. Most of our guests were understanding and many stayed for the entire night to celebrate with us and waited for the food to come and we had some amazing pizza. However many guests left and many things on our schedule got canceled. Your wedding is supposed to be the greatest day of your life and I would never want another couple to go through what we went through with this company. I know they have wonderful reviews, which is why we hired them. But if something goes wrong, they will not be there for you. Mistakes and accidents, we understand. But overall, it was the unsympathetic owner, Zach, and the lack of accountability or apology that truly disappointed us and made us want to tell people to avoid this company. There are many more caterers who understand how important weddings are and would be there to help their clients. 

Hector and the Loco Catering Group did an amazing job catering our high school cultural event! Communication was smooth and attentive, and Hector made sure every detail matched our vision. The staff was professional, friendly, and made setup easy. The food was incredible—authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Guests are still raving about the tacos, enchiladas, and refreshing aguas frescas! I highly recommend Hector and his team for anyone seeking delicious Mexican cuisine and outstanding service. Thank you for making our event unforgettable!

We had a great experience working with this company! They arrived early, the food was delicious, and everyone had a great time. We keep hearing comments about how fun the event was and how much people liked the food. We also appreciated how they cleaned up during and after our celebration. Everything was so easy. We couldn’t be happier with how it all went!
