my experience as maid of honor
We arrived at the venue promptly around 10:30 am, once we were there nothing was set up and by nothing I mean not even the groomsmen’s room or the bridal suite. The bride and all her bridesmaids had to wait for someone to finish cleaning up the bridal suite which set us back quite a bit as we were on a very tight schedule. Cleaning should have been completed prior to our arrival, very negligent on their part.
Once we were in the bridal suite they began to wax the floors in the venue which made it very difficult to come and go as we pleased. They had rerouted us to go through the back which did not look safe at all because it was a very narrow hallway with a lot of shelves that were stacked very high. Some one who worked at the venue stated that they forgot there was a wedding today and they thought it was tomorrow! SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND NEGLIGENT!
Now fast forward to the actual party, they had said that we have 30 min to kick I believe it was 50 people out of the wedding or we will be shut down. Now we begged them to open the cocktail room back up bc we didn’t even use it in the first place and they refused even though clearly that was included in our contractual agreement! Also let me add the the bride had spoken to you guys about the wedding being up to 200 people and not once did u communicate to her that 200 people will result in a shut down due to covid, in fact one of the main reasons we went with loft 84 was bc of that count! Anyways very horrible experience from start to finish. The day had started horrible because of miscommunication, unprofessionalism, and negligence and it ended with the bride crying. Thanks for absolutely nothing.

Beautiful venue and awesome owners who are always willing to work with you.
Cons:
Was made many promises at the beginning and told not to worry.
They took forever to have a contract made with all these so called promises.
Neglected to mention certain things were not included with wedding coordinators.
Day of demonstration of table; they had nothing of what I had requested. They told me they would have a sample table of what the table would look like, the day of the wedding, and I even purchased a floral arrangement, only to see a naked table with practically nothing on it.
Had to pay for cake cutting; day of wedding, at time of cutting; $100.
Accidentally left shoes behind in bridal suite and was never contacted about leaving personal item behind.
Called them the next day about the shoes and they said they “hadn’t seen anything”...
It’s common courtesy to do so and contact the last bride or event party if they see items left behind. They replied with “per contract we are not responsible for any personal belongings”.
Received shoes almost a month later since they refused to look for them where I told them I had left them. Simple task they made very difficult. I’m sure they have a cleaning staff. Did they not see them and wonder “hmm these shoes must belong to the bride from last night”? (assuming they clean daily).
Was told I would have a bar at the cocktail room and a week before the wedding, when I ask to confirm, they tell me, “You were supposed to tell us you wanted one, that is extra if you want that”.
Was told that guest could go into the patio; was closed off day of wedding.
Pros:
Venue is beautiful. That’s it.
Price is ok, but a lot is hidden and must be payed for, separately.
We loved having our wedding here. They were so great with every detail. We would recommend this place to everyone.
If I could rate this venue more than 5 stars, I would! Everything from planning the wedding one on one with the owners, Cindy & Shelby, to the actual wedding was incredible!!! I worked mostly with Cindy, who is so super sweet and accommodating. She deals with so many brides one on one and she still manages to make you feel special. She went above and beyond even with our off the wall requests. She actually set up my arch herself and decorated it which was sooo beautiful and sweet. She even ran to the store to get us orange juice for the champagne they included in our bridal room!!! If that isn't the sweetest thing I don't know what is. Since we met frequently over the 9th month period before the wedding she understood my style and what I would like for my wedding. The venue is so stunning and nicely decorated for a classy vintage feel. This venue does it all!!! In home catering, dj, wedding coordinators ( I worked with Colleen and she was awesome), and they even have a decor store which I mainly used for the decor of my wedding!!! We had an October wedding, it was a slightly Halloween influenced wedding, but still classy and laid back. If you meet with the owner and coordinator as much as they suggest, your wedding will come out beautiful. You just have to understand there are weddings there every weekend, and although they want to be as personal as possible, they will still get back to you, if not right away. Since the venue hooked us up with most of our vendors it was a lot easier to focus on other aspects of the wedding. All in all everyone was so stoked on our wedding and LOVED the venue. Everyone kept saying how it was the best wedding they've been too. It was perfect for us and i'm so happy I chose Loft 84!!! Thank you so much Cindy and Shelby you ladies are the best.
Cindy and Shelby were fabulous! The venue itself is a total dream, but what really ties it together are the personal touches for your individual wedding day. Seeing the sign with my and my husband's name when you walk through the front door is so exciting!
I planned my own wedding, and started about a year and a half ago. When I found Loft 84, it was just getting up and running, and Cindy and Shelby were more than accommodating about meeting up with me whenever I could fly into town from Chicago. The entire process was so easy. I see a few reviews on here regarding the owner "organization" etc, and I think it's important to note that they are venue owners, not wedding planners. It is up to the customer to arrange a wedding planner to gather all details etc, and if you don't (I didn't) be ready to tackle all the minute details yourself :)
The day of the wedding (August 19, 2016) ran smoothly and without a hitch. We elected to purchase the prop room and the day of wedding coordinator and I highly recommend doing this. I'll be writing a separate review for Maddie, but let me just briefly say she was totally on the ball and made sure our reception looked perfect and ran like clock work!
I couldn't have asked for better service. Several guests from riverside were totally blown away by the beauty of the venue and also the wonderful service from our bartenders and every vendor we used was totally professional and timely.
Thank you Shelby and Cindy- you guys are seriously the best at what you do. I'm so thankful to have been able to work with both of you and your professionalism and work ethic was reflected in my wedding day celebration!
The venue itself is beautiful and at a great price. The owners are a bit difficult to work with and not well organized at all. Make sure you stay on top of them about specifics of what you want and have a very well organized wedding coordinator (like I did) and the night will go smoothly.
The environment is beautiful, but the owners are deceitful. I would not recommend this venue, but if you decide to take a chance here are a few things you need to do.
1. If you need handicap access do not go by any verbal information given by the honors. We were told the elevators would be working. We had several guests that needed handicap access and we even checked via a text. They said it would be working. The night of the rehearsal dinner, we found out it wasn't working. No one called to let us know. Make sure it is written in a contract and signed.
2. Don't sign a contract until you have an itemized list of what you are going to need. Make sure you get a copy. We did not receive one. I had several people when it was written see the owner write down that they would order acrylic plates. We did not get them for the wedding, and they said it was not written down.
3. Do not trust the bar. If you are going to have any part of the reception a host bar, make sure there is a sign that the drinks are free. After you tab runs out, make sure the amount of drinks is clearly seen. Get someone you trust to tally the drinks as they are ordered or make some kind of token system unique to your wedding, so the guests can drop them in a receptacle when ordering. This might keep the bar honest. I strongly suggest a no tip bar. Tip the bartenders at the end of the reception.
3. The brides room and the area down below, where we stayed during the set up of the reception were not air conditioned. They had swamp coolers. It was uncomfortable.
4. Check everything before the wedding begins. The men's urinal was broken the night of our event. I had a tab for wine and beer. The white wine ran at the very early part of the reception.
5. Some of my guests were charged for wine and beer.
6.We had words the night of the rehearsal about the elevator. They pulled the bride and groom aside and had the bride in tears. The other owner, asked if we wanted to cancel.
Save yourself the heartache and headache. Go somewhere with more honest people.
7. If it wasn't for our wedding coordinator (not the one they have on hand, if you need one, and our caterer, things would have been worse). Thank goodness for them.
