Long's Catering was super great for my wedding. Throughout the process, they answered all of my many questions, and helped us customize the menu the way we wanted it.
The food was so good, and all of the staff working were extremely friendly. They helped clean up the charger plates and napkins I had provided. Definitely recommend!
Longs ce the day before the wedding and helped set everything up for the big day! They even used green ivy they had to make it look so pretty. The guests loved the food and I appreciate everything they did to serve us. Thank you so much!
Long's catered our wedding on 6/12/21, and we could not have been more pleased! We received so many compliments from our guests not only for the quality of food, but for the quality of service. They even helped us set up the tables at our reception the day before. We loved the family aspect of the Long's team and would highly recommend them for your next catering event!
Overall gist: Complaints include lack of communication, not being on time or keeping appointments and promising things they couldn’t deliver. Positives include everyone liking the food that was provided and price.
I had one request when I interviewed caterers: Will you be able to provide a vegetarian menu?
My husband and I agreed that we did not want meat products at the wedding. As a vegetarian, I know there are many options for great meals that don’t involve meat. When I interviews Longs, they said they would be able to meet my needs without problem and they have done vegetarian weddings before. They said specific menu details would be discussed closer to the day, so at about one-year out we put the deposit down to hold our date feeling we were in good hands. About three months before the wedding we showed up at their office for our meeting to discuss the menu. They weren’t there. We called, and waited for about 15 minutes without hearing anything. Finally we heard that the person scheduled to meet with us was at another engagement and was being held up but would be there in under an hour. We went back and met with her. At the meeting vegetarian options were discussed. Basically, their vegetarian options are the things they already offer but without meat. When inquiring about soy or tofu options, we were told they don’t have experience working with it and wouldn’t be able to offer it. When we stressed that they said they could accommodate, and asked about at least meatless meatballs, she said she would look into it and get back to us within 3 days. We were not contacted. After about a week, I called her. She couldn’t find a recipes for meatless meatballs. Really? You are a caterer. One google search and I’ve found ten. Fine. So, I asked about buying the premade ones and gave her good brands, she again said she would get back to me. Again, I had to call. $3 per person to provide premade MorningStar brand meatless meatballs. Talk about overcharging. Needless to say, we weren’t going to pay an additional $3 per person just to have meatballs that we could buy ourselves for half that price. Menu was at least settled. A variety of vegetables and pasta. No discount because there wasn’t meat in our entrees, same price.
Onward to the day before when they were supposed to arrive at the reception location to setup at 2:00. We were there setting everything up. At 4 or so I called them asking if everything was okay. She says, yeah, why? I say, well you were supposed to be here at 2, right? Or was I misunderstanding? She says, yes, we were but something else came up and we will just do it tomorrow. Was there anything else I needed? (insert disbelief and arching of eyebrows here). Okay, nothing else. Thanks. While it doesn’t matter what day they got there, they should have called and when they didn’t they should have apologized.
I didn’t include details about the several phone calls or emails that were sent and went unanswered or finally answered after several weeks, but you get the idea.
Everyone did say the food tasted great and for us the price was good as well. Just know what you are getting yourself into and go somewhere else for vegetarian selections.
Overall, I was happy with the choice, although it was a little expensive to add hot appetizers. Other than that, very good experience.
I was so pleased with Long's Catering! Michele and Jeff were easy to work with and we received many compliments on the food for the wedding. Since we weren't having a traditional buffet or sit-down dinner, Michele worked with us to customize the menu to our needs and likes! I would highly recommend them for any event!
