We recently had our wedding at the Lost Spur in Eagan and had a wonderful time. The venue surpassed our expectations in almost every way. We had some experience planning a wedding ...coming into this with a family member getting married last year. Our contact at The Lost Spur was Geri. She is fantastic and helped us iron out so many of the details. First off, she is very professional and understanding. Until you plan your own wedding you have no idea how many times details and head counts change. She worked us through it each time. She was also able to suggest other vendors and what to have before and after dinner to keep the guests happy.
The venue food and space.
Our wedding had about 125 people and we reserved the ballroom on the second floor. There was a ton of space for everyone to get around, and a large balcony outside for guests to enjoy the beautiful spring weather. Another advantage of this setup was guests were able to watch from above as we took some of our photos with the photographer. The venue has a large dance floor off to the side which allows flexibility in seating. We went into our food tasting with very low expectations. Because we live out of state, we only had a chance to schedule this during the holiday season which happens to be a very inconvenient time for the chef. It didn’t matter as Geri and the chef (I am really upset I am blanking on his name) made sure to find time for us to try the food. Most of the weddings we have been to the food is average and often served cold. During our tasting we knew one item would be the panko crusted walleye and were unsure of what else we wanted so we ordered 4 dishes. When we tried them, we ran into a big problem. They were all large portions and delicious! The chef came out to meet us and ask if we wanted to customize the dishes further or if the accompanying sides were sufficient. We selected the oven roasted chicken and a vegan option to with the fish option as plated dinners. We were still a bit skeptical about how it would turn out on the wedding day. Making 4 meals is a lot different than 125. On the wedding day the food was hot, plentiful, and equally delicious. We received so many compliments about the food. Guests wondered if they could come back to have the food on a regular basis.
Parking and location.
The Lost Spur was easy to get to and provided ample parking with hotels nearby.
Overall, we started looking at the Lost Spur because it was budget friendly. After meeting the team and the chef we decided to on the venue. On the day of the wedding, we felt they went above and beyond our wildest imaginations. Thank you so much to The Lost Spur team for making our day wonderful.
