I’m writing this review 8 weeks after our visit - because it has truly stayed with me and continues to bother me.
My best friend is getting married next year, and as her maid of honor, I scheduled an appointment for her to try on dresses while she was in town, visiting from across the country.
She’d tried on dresses once before and found one she loved, but wanted the experience with her friends, and the opportunity to find a dress she possibly loved even more.
Upon arrival to Lucille’s, we were not immediately greeted. We went up to the counter where we were told it would be a few minutes, as the preceding appointment was finishing up. This was fine — but we found it odd that there was nowhere to sit. No water offered. No congratulations to the bride. Just a “feel free to take a look around.”
10-15 minutes later, the preceding appointment was finished. A bridesmaid was coming to our appointment as well (so bride + 2 guests) and she was about to arrive. The bride wanted to greet her outside, and after our appointment was pushed back almost 20 minutes on their end already, we were told we “needed to get started.” It was a weird vibe.
But that’s not even what stayed with me most. The discussions between the apparent owner/manager and her sales associate were uncomfortable to witness. The owner, who had been hacking up a lung in the back room, seemed to talk down to her sales associate. It was very awkward. The 2 women tried to feel out if the bride was looking to buy something — we had put down our deposit for the appointment, and assumed we’d be treated with the same respect as any other client. Of course if the bride had found something she loved, she’d have considered purchasing. But once they heard she had tried on a dress elsewhere that she really liked, they seemed convinced she wasn’t “serious” about purchasing and I do believe this tainted our entire experience.
I was told I was not allowed in the dressing room. Ok fine - element of surprise when the bride comes out….
Well when she did come out in a dress, as part of her support system, I said, “You’re a vision in white!” To which the sales associate responded, “We don’t have any white dresses; that’s ivory.” …I was dumbfounded. I was attempting to hype up my best friend and I was shot down over a technicality that truly did not matter.
It was bizarre. The owner came over and insisted that she knew that the sales associate knew what she was doing, yet she interjected herself into the appointment to insist the bride try on a dress that wasn’t at all what she was looking for. She claimed, “This one just came in and I need a model for it.” …what? Bride tried it on to appease the owner, and of course did not like it.
Also bizarre — looking through the dresses, I found one I thought the bride might like, and I was shut down by the owner who said, “Oh she won’t like that one. Put that back.” …!!! I think I know MY best friend’s style and preferences better than anyone, and let me be clear: I was not at all attempting to take over the appointment. I was gently suggesting a dress and was completely dismissed.
After the bride changed back into her clothes, we were forgotten and overlooked. The next appointment had arrived and they were done with us, even though they started with us late. No “thank you,” or send off, or acknowledgment.
The whole experience was off. Even if she HAD found the dress, she was confident she did not want to be a customer here. This is not how a bridal shopping appointment should go, no matter one’s budget.
I had an amazing experience at Lucille’s Bridal. There was an amazing options of dresses at great prices. My consultant was so helpful and finding the right dress for me. She worked to help pick dresses out for me with my mom and maid of honor. I was able to find my dream dress and cannot wait to wear it. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Absolutely adored and appreciated the intimate, personalized experience with it being a small shop. I fell in love with the second dress I tried on, but it was discontinued design, so FORTUNATELY I got a discount by getting it right off the rack. UNfortunately, my petite figure made alterations a bit of a chore. They were super friendly and accommodating with getting it just right; I just wish I didn't have to go back so many times!
Nightmare!! We purchased a wedding gown back in September of 2021 and still do not have a gown! Lucilles has always been reputable but since the change in ownership it has gone down hill. Gown came in 4 sizes to big but according to Antoinetta the owner, it was ordered correctly. My daughter tried it on and asked if she would please order another in a smaller size. She replied " her seamstress works miracles and this happens often." Ok being she is the expert in this field and we are not. We trusted her words. The first fitting didn't go so well. Gown was still to big in the bust area and shoulder straps area. Bustle was not acceptable. Waited 3 weeks and hopeful the 2nd try for the seamstress would be successful. Well, the gown was still to large, shoulder straps were 2 different lengths, and the hemline was noticeably uneven. We asked for a European bustle which came out looking worse than the American bustle. By now my daughter and myself are stressed, aggrevated, angry and worried. The owner continued to feel confident and comfortable that her seamstress will work miracles on my daughter's gown. Attempt #3 for the wedding gown alterations. Arrived at Lucilles to see a dirty, spotted, wrinkled uneven all around the hem, unacceptable gown that now looked as though it belongs in the trash. The shoulder straps were so noticeably uneven. What looked like several small holes where she attempted twice to sew the bustle were hideous and so noticeable I wanted to cry. It is June and my daughters gown is ruined. We asked for a refund but that's not her policy. Antoinetta offered my daughter to pick out a new gown (which wasn't an option due to same inventory as last September). My daughter chose to reorder her original same gown. We ordered it 4 sizes smaller and waiting for it to come in. It is now July. We were promised it will be in August 3rd. I am truly upset for the unprofessional manner of this business and thankful we were adamant about a new gown because I truly believe she would have let us walk out of there with this damaged, ruined gown because in her eyes nothing goes wrong. She actually told my daughter this was my daughter s fault! Oh I'm still fuming.
Staff was kind but the shop is incredibly small with a very limited selection. If you already know exactly what you want it would be a nice place to purchase, but if you’re trying to find your bridal style it’s not the right place.
I had an excellent purchasing experience with them however it all went down hill from there. They gave me an estimate for alterations when I bought the dress. They ended up being $200 more than estimated for only a bustle, hem, and taking in the bust. They did end up refunding me a $100 for the "misunderstanding," so I will say the owner does care about her business. However, their new seamstress was awful. She took in my dress too much, cut off appliques on the seam and didn't not properly fit the bust/ cups. When I went to pick up the dress I started having a slight panic attack about how they wear going to fix my dress properly a month before my wedding. Mind you I wasn't yelling or speaking rudely to anyone, just nervously upset. The seamstress started jerking me around rather than instruct me, obviously pissed she had to redo her shotty work. The dress ended up being fine at the wedding except for my bustle. They charged me $230 for a one point bustle that ended up being a small loop that they attached to one of the decretive buttons on my dress. This set up lasted less than an hour at my wedding and before I could enter the reception I had to have my cousins pin it with a bunch of safety pins in order for it to stay. This meant I was unable to let my train down for photos later in the night. This was an incredibly stressful process and I was highly disappointed with the alteration care. The fact that they claimed not to be aware of what alterations I would need when they quoted me a price even though I was wearing clips around the top half of the dress and discussing the bustle and hem does make me wonder how much they truly know when it comes to the alterations. They have a beautiful dress selection. Buy a dress from there if you like but consider getting alterations elsewhere.
Thank you to Lucille’s for helping me look beautiful on my wedding day! I found a gown in a magazine that I loved and went to Lucille’s almost 2 years before my wedding to try it on. I didn’t love it but ended up trying on another dress they had on clearance off the rack and my grandma, mom and I all loved it. With my wedding a little under two years away, I was nervous to buy it so far in advance. Lucille’s made sure to tell me that this was perfectly ok and even though the dress was a sample size and I definitely am not, they said it can be altered to fit and even held it in store for me the whole time!
When it finally came time to start my fittings, I was nervous! I’m a street size 14 and the dress was a bridal size 8 or 10. We decided to cut the zippered back off the dress and make it a corset instead. And it came out BEAUTIFUL! The dress was stunning and they did an incredible job.
At my last fitting I thought the dress was creasing a little bit so they recommended making straps and adding them to the dress. They made the straps from the extra string from the corset and it looked like they were made for the dress.
I had a 3 part bustle and they were so helpful and patient showing my mom how to do it when we picked up the dress. It was beautifully pressed and all ready for me and made sure it made it to the wedding date safely.
Lucille’s was wonderful and I’m so happy that my future sister in law just purchased her dress there too. If you want a personal experience where everyone is so kind and lovely, and want to stay in budget, go to Lucille’s!
I can be very indecisive at times. I had an especially hard time trying to pick out dresses for my bridesmaids. Lori was so helpful and full of insight. She was very straight forward and honest. I am obsessed with the dresses. She walked me through different designers and materials and helped me decide what worked best for what I was looking for. Although I didn't end up getting my wedding gown there, I decided to purchase my bridesmaids dresses solely based on my experience with Lori. I would definitely recommend checking them out. -Jenn
I loved my initial experiences here. My attendant was Olivia and I loved everything about her. This was the last shop I visited and had other dresses to top, and I did here with TWO dresses, both better priced than my previous favorites at the other store which was important to me. I couldn't decide and was able to come back for another appointment just to try on the two dresses a few weeks later to hopefully decide. My wedding was in June 2018 and I was trying on dresses in 2017 so it's been a while, but I don't remember having trouble with appointments, and coordinating my friends and family who wanted to come too. When it came in, I went in to try it on, and then closer to my wedding date I had 2 fittings. My one issue though, was that the seamstress was only available one 2 weekdays to do alterations, which was difficult because of work. Fortunately my boss was very understanding. And I was upset during one of the fitting appointments, because the dress wasn't ready for me and I had to come back hours later, messing up the other appointments I had that day. I also was never notified when my veil came in. I waited a while before I finally contacted them myself. I felt the quality of the services went down slightly after I'd actually found and purchased my dress. However, the final result was incredible. The best fitting, most beautiful thing I've ever had on my body.
I came to Lucille’s multiple times looking for my wedding dress. I am a curvy bride and they had plenty of plus size dresses to try on. I found my wedding dress at a different location but decided to order it from Lucille’s instead, it was just a different style than the other dresses by the same designer that Lucille’s carried. It arrived quicker than expected and I eagerly went for my first fitting. The dress needed to be taken in a lot and we had ordered additional applique pieces to be put onto the dress. The seamstress did a wonderful job with the dress, both with the sizing and with the appliques. I had a very big dress and a very long train, and it required a lot of hooks for the bustle. The seamstress did such a good job hiding all the hook/eye closures that we had a hard time finding them the day of the wedding! I went for my final fitting and I had lost of lot of weight that the dress needed to be taken in again unfortunately (or fortunately!) The seamstress essentially reworked the entire dress on both sides from top to just about where the knees were in just a day and it looked even better than when I first tried on the dress. The pricing for alterations was very reasonable given the amount of work that needed to be done and in such a short amount of time. Thank you to all the wonderful ladies at Lucille’s for making my dress look perfect! -Julia
Lucille's Bridal offered the most amazing dress shopping experience ever. I was so pleased when I called on a Saturday for a last minute appontment and they made themselves available to see me. Lori was my sales consultant, and she took the time to learn my style and comfort level to help me find the perfect dress. Since then, the owner Antoinetta has been phenomenal to work with. She is so professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would highly recommend their shop for your wedding event outfit, whether you're a bride, groom, bridesmaid, groomsman, fathers, or mother of the bride/groom.
I cannot thank Lucille's enough (especially Liz!!) for helping me find my dream dress. Lucille's was the first place I went to when shopping for my wedding dress and ultimately where I returned to and said "yes!" - from the start Liz was in tune with my style, my venue and the overall theme of our wedding day and helped me pick the absolute perfect dress. I loved my experience so much we went back and purchased my bridesmaids dresses as well from them.
Lori was amazing to work with! I had an idea of what I wanted and she hit the nail on the head finding dresses in styles that I liked and felt comfortable in, all while staying within my budget. They even ordered a dress they didn’t have so I could try it on and ended up saying Yes to that one! She was patient and I never felt pressured. It was fun and a pleasure to work with everyone at the store. I would definitely recommend Lucille’s!
I had a really wonderful experience at Lucille's Bridal Shop. They showed me dresses in the price range I had asked for ($1,000-$1,500) and I ended up finding the PERFECT wedding dress in that range. They let me take my time in trying them on and I never felt rushed. They were great about only booking one fitting/alteration at a time, so every time I went in I had their undivided attention. I also had my alterations done here and the woman who did them was very good and made the dress fit perfectly. She even sewed a heart from the sleeve of my grandma's wedding dress inside my dress at no charge. It was a beautiful gesture and made my dress even more special. Thank you, Lucille's Bridal Shop!
I called to see if they had “my dress “ in a certain size, they did. I made an appointment with Liz. She also picked out similar dresses to the one I had my eye on. I can’t say enough. Not only did I find my how. I felt welcome and well treated. This
was a big decision and I felt zero pressure to
purchase
I love Lucille’s, I actually first heard of them from work because they are right across the street. When my now sister in law was wedding dress shopping we went there first and they we’re so sweet and helpful I admired their service. Because of that she bought her wedding dress right then and there. So when it came to my wedding dress day shopping it was the first place I went and was not disappointed. I had the intention of going to other places but I just couldn’t once I found my dress. Once it finally came in I feel in love with my dress all over again and I can’t wait for my wedding day!
I went to two other bridal salons before coming here. I was impressed from the moment I walked into this salon. Lori was incredibly helpful and fun to work with. The first dress she put me in was the one and she knew I loved it. She put a veil on right away so I could really see the dress in full effect. I highly recommend this salon to all brides looking for “the dress.”
You will not be disappointed!
As a plus-sized bride, staff did not make me feel embarrassed because of my size. I absolutely loved my dress thanks to Liz who can see my vision. She was extremely patient as I was 5 months pregnant and needed to come back to make up my kind. She was wonderful! The store owner and the seamstress were absolutely wonderful people. Great staff. I can’t say anything bad about this place. You won’t be disappointed!
Words can not express how helpful Lucille's Bridal Shop was during my wedding planning! I knew exactly what dress I wanted, and after a few fittings I came in to pick up my dress a week before the wedding. Knowing my body, I insisted that I try the dress on even though it was already pressed and ready to go. I was so happy that they let me because the dress ended up being too big (not their fault, my weight just fluctuates frequently). They quickly helped me to fix my dress and it was PERFECT! I can not thank them enough for calming my fears and allowing me to cry in the middle of the store. Thank you for being so supportive! I could not have asked for a better staff to help me through this process!
Lucille's Bridal was the best bridal salon to meet all of our wedding expectations. My dress was absolutely stunning and went perfectly with my elegant theme at the Eolia Mansion in Waterford, CT. The staff was very attentive during my try on's, fitting, and getting everything done is just the right amount of time. Thank you to Lauren, Olivia, Antonietta and Tina, the seamstress. My bridesmaid dresses were amazing. They looked stunning and fit everyone so well. My mother had also gotten her mother of the bride dress here and exceeded her vision. I will continue to recommend Lucille's to those I know needing a dress for a special occasion in the future.
I knew I'd start my wedding dress search at Lucille's after having a positive experience when I was maid of honor for my friend's wedding. Well, I did not need to look anywhere else because the selection at Lucille's is wonderful and I found the perfect dress during my first visit (I slept on it and decided it was the one for me -- and I am so happy I did!) I felt like a princess each and every time I went to Lucille's for fittings, and my bridesmaids also enjoyed the star treatment they received when picking out their beautiful coral Bill Levkoff dresses. The seamstress was phenomenal and I felt like a celebrity in my dress, which my guests raved about for its unique lace-y beauty! I wish I could wear my wedding dress every day ;) I would highly recommend CT brides start their search at Lucille's... I can guarantee it will be the first and last place you look!
The staff at Lucilles are super friendly and helpful. They are committed to helping you find a dress you love, getting it to fit perfectly and making sure you are happy with the end result. They stuck to my stated budget with the dresses they showed me. My wedding gown was so beautiful and tailored well. They have a seamstress in house for alterations and she did a good job.
My consultant Liz was wonderful. She made me feel so comfortable and relieved the stress of choosing the perfect dress. The whole staff was so helpful with my challenge of choosing bridesmaid gowns for my daughters (one lives in VT, the other in FL). The final choice was stunning and one daughter took that dress on a cruise with her this week! I would recommend Lucille's to anyone and everyone. They have so many styles to choose from and the quality of the gowns is excellent. Above all, their service is second to none.
From the day we first walked in, we were made to feel like family. The treatment the ladies gave us was spectacular. Friendly. Enthusiastic. Shared excitement. What an amazing bridal salon to find your special dress. They will go to the ends of the Earth to make sure your dress is as perfect as possible for your special day - even sewing a Nike patch on for the something blue! LOL -
I really enjoyed my experience at Lucille's. It was a very down to earth, intimate experience. My consultant was Liz and she was incredible. Liz was patient and stuck to my budget and my needs. She made me feel totally at ease and really valued my opinion. I tried on about 10 or more gowns my first visit and they had all price ranges and different styles, materials, lengths, shades of white. The dress came in ahead of time and my fittings were great-they really took their time. I have to also say that the alterations were great-I got a lot of compliments about how my gown fit-trust the seamstress! My only negative was that when I got my gown home it was not as pressed/clean as I would have liked. Since it was a week before my wedding, I didn't bother to go back to the store but if I had, I am sure they would have taken care of it! Overall, great experience!
Such a great experience. The staff was so warm and inviting - They made my whole bridal gown shopping experience so amazing. Finding the perfect dress at their shop was also a plus!
I had the most amazing experience as soon as I walked in the door at Lucille's. Liz helped me find my dream dress for less than my max budget! Every time I walked in the door I was greeted with friendliness, smiles, enthusiasm and shared excitement for my pending big day. My mom also purchased her dress from here and I had all my girls order their bridesmaid dresses as I knew I could trust the staff at Lucille's to take good care of everyone. Everything went without a hitch and we all felt beautiful on the big day. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making the process so fun!
I have known Antoinetta for many years and I was thrilled to work with her for my special day. My bridesmaids, mother, and mother-in-law all got their dresses from here. The selection and variety of dresses available was impressive. She worked with us to find the perfect dresses. My husband, his groomsmen, my father,my father-in-law, and ring bearer all rented their suits from here. There were a lot to choose from and they looked great. It was convenient to get the suits and dresses for my whole wedding party in one place. Definitely recommend.
The staff at Lucille's certainly helped me find my perfect dress! They made me feel like finding that perfect dress was as important to them as it was to me! I would recommend Lucille's to any bride!
I had such a great experience getting my dress here. I found a dress that I have not seen anywhere else and I fell in love with it. after trying on 12 dresses I found my dress here!! The staff was wonderful to work with and showed me some really great dresses with the look that I was going for.
I got my wedding dress alterations done at Lucille's and I am so happy that I did! In a nutshell, I was in a bind because I bought my dress at Harold's and they suddenly closed before they could complete my alterations. I was in a scramble to find a seamstress that would take this on seeing as I didn't buy the dress from them. Lucille's welcomed me with open arms, the ladies in there are just so kind and do helpful. I went to other boutiques about alterations and I left feeling overwhelmed and disappointed with them telling me it was "so much work". But, what do I do now? The place I bought it from closed so I would be stuck with it if no one could help me. When I went to Lucille's they reassured me this would be no problem at all and they've altered this dress a million times before. What a relief! They pressed it for me when they were all done and timing was no problem- they had it finished when promised.
My girls had a little bit of an issue with the shoe colors, but that ended up working out. We brought swatches of colors that needed to be matched and marched them to the colors in the book. When the shoes came in they weren't the same color but we were able to work it out.
Prices are not affordable ($1,200 and up). If you ask for some options cheaper, they will usually show you no more than 2 or 3 dresses.
Lucille's Bridal was great to work with. When I went to try on my gowns the first time, they asked me my style and gave several options. I fell in love with a Maggie sottero and knew it was the dress for me. It was a little expensive, but I loved it! They allowed my mother to pay in installments. I also ordered my bridesmaid dresses from them as well. All the dresses were ordered and arrived very quickly. And Antoinette called and kept me updated regularly. The alterations were too expensive, so my bridesmaid went other places. But, my alterations were done at the shop and while I thought it was a little too pricey, Theresa was absolutely amazing and great to work with! Overall I had a great experience and Liz, Antoinette and Theresa were wonderful! I personally had not one issue with the place, I would recommend them.
My daughter and I both purchased our gowns for her wedding here. My daughter had appointments at other wedding gown stores but she came to Lucille's to meet me, and saw a gown here, fell in love with it and did not have to look any further. I was going there for my gown, and she met me there as I valued her opinion. To say that the gowns were lovely, the staff courteous and knowledgeable as well as kind and helpful is an understatement -and does not give them enough credit. We were more than satisfied, we were delighted!. We are still receiving compliments months later of how beautiful we looked and how stunning her gown was and what a gorgeous gown I wore. They were truly happy for my daughter and I, they treated us with every possible kindness and respect, they all went above and beyond from our first contact, to our alterations to our final fitting- I cannot recommend them enough!
I really enjoyed working with Lucille's Bridal. Lucille's was very understanding when I initially started looking for the dress of my dreams. I was not sure what I was looking for me and they had many options, opinions, and helped to the best of their ability. I was extremely pleased with the dress, their alterations, their accommodating appointment times, and most of their staff.
Unfortunately, I did not purchase my bridesmaid dresses there due to the fact they were a bit pricier than another boutique. Even though I purchased my wedding dress there, I could not get the bridesmaid dress prices down to what it was at another store.
Overall, I loved my dress and would recommend them for other brides!
I bought my Maggie Sottero wedding dress from Lucille's and they were fantastic to work with from the day I walked in! It was always about me & what I wanted! The seamstress is a doll - she worked so hard to get my bustle just the way I wanted. We also bought the bridesmaids dresses there and those were great as well! And my mom's dress! AND the groom & groomsmen rented their tuxes here too! Amazing & personal service!
The ladies at Lucille's were absolutely amazing!!! I had such a wonderful experience with them with choosing, ordering and altering my Maggie Sottero wedding gown. They are very friendly women who are just as excited as you are.
I had decided to use a different bridal shop closer to my bridal party to order their dresses from, which was a big mistake. When this other shop ordered my dresses incorrectly, I immediately called Lucille's to see if they can provide me with any help. Jen found 2 identical flower girl dresses and Teresa, the seamstress was able to have them totally customized to my wedding colors and altered to fit both little girls within a week (the dresses were way too big for both girls in the original sizes). All of this took place within a week of my wedding and I am so grateful that they were able to help me out last minute.
Good value and beautiful selections. Alterations were completed until my dress was perfect! great staff!
I got my dress from Lucille's. There staff is great, there dresses are beautiful and affordable.
Lucille's Bridal is the best place to rent your tuxedos! After leaving Men's Warehouse in Westport CT due to a terrible terrible rude service, we went looking for another place that would offer a much better and needed service, and there it was, Lucille's Bridal. From the moment we walked in, we knew that was the place to rent everyone's tuxedos! Jen was amazing with everything, I could not thank her enough! All the guys look so handsome!
I was planning on going the less expensive route and finding a bridesmaid dress and ordering it in white ( I had no bridal party). But when I arrived at Lucille's and told the owner Tony my plan, he told me that I was the bride and he was going to make sure I felt like one. He helped me find the most amazing bride dresses within my budget, showing me gowns that had been discontinued. I ended up with an $800 dress for $199, it had tons of pearl beading and lace work on it, people thought I had spent a couple grand on it. I never would have thought I could end up with something so great at that price point. A definite place to go
I went here as my 2nd stop in dress hunting. At this point in the process, I had done my "ok I'll try it on even though it has lace and I hate lace" runs and I was really just looking to try on more dresses. Not only were they, uh, interesting, to talk to on the phone (hung up on the first time and the next told me if I couldn't make it by their preferred time, I just wouldn't get shown anything), when I came in no one seemed especially excited other than Tony, who just kept walking around telling people I was "another Michigan bride".
The lady who helped me didn't seem to have "the touch" I've seen with other excellent dress shops. She never asked for my budget or size (made assumptions on how I looked I guess?) or welcomed my sister, mother, and I in any sort of way. She just brought out 3 dresses (some of which had more than 1 "no" feature - lace, buttons, strapless) and opened the door to the dressing room (which is 5 feet from the giant windows to the parking lot, btw) without a word. I tried on 1 other dress from a second trip into their vault that had another "no" feature, and was told that's all there was. They only have 3 dresses that are not strapless? That seems odd, even considering how popular strapless is. I kinda felt like they were just getting rid of me for their next appointment.
As the bride, my experience was fantastic. Tara was great in helping me find my dress. She was patient and was able to narrow down exactly what I was looking for. My dress was a custom design and had additional work done at the shop by Theresa. She was absolutely amazing. her work was phenomenal, she was the nicest little lady and I can't thank her enough. The owner Tony was the best. We had some help from Jen as well. I recommended Lucille's to 2 other people who have also had great experiences. I am very happy that we chose to go with them.
Lucille's Bridal was absolutely awful! They measured me wrong for my custom made bridal gown. They were trying to convince all the girls in the bridal party to order dresses way to big. They ended up making one girl feel awful (in tears) - told her the dress wouldn't fit and made her order extra fabric. Dress comes in - it's 5 times too big for her! And her measurements did not change. The tuxes - my Dad's pants were 3 inches too short. My father-in-law's tux - they messed up on the order and we didn't get it until the day before instead of 2 days before which in turn made him late for our rehearsal. All the groomsmen tuxes - we had to take off the top button and re-sew them on so the guys could actually button them and be able to breathe. DO NOT GO HERE!! WORST BRIDAL SHOP EVER! All they care about is making money off of you for alterations!
I enjoyed the fact that they allowed me to look at all the dresses without hounding me. However, there was not a huge selection. I tried on many dresses and never felt a pressure for a sale. They were friendly everytime I went in for my dress fittings.
I went out to Orange, CT to visit David's and after trying on a few styles, was generally disappointed. Lucille's was in the area and we we checked it out. They had so many beautiful dresses packed into that little shop! Good customer service and high quality dresses and a nice selection, but nothing too special about the price.
My Maid of Honor and I stopped at Lucille's Bridal Shop in Orange. AWFUL experience! They were rude rude RUDE! The guy who I assume is the owner first scolded me for not getting my wedding gown with him and I made a huge mistake for not doing so. Then, after I said which two gowns we were looking for my MOH to try on for the BM dresses he asked which colors we were going to order them in. I answered and said "Light pink and gold". He shook his head and said, "Oooh no those colors won't match at all." So I sternly responded and said, "Umm those are my wedding colors and everyone else has told me that it's a great color combination". They didn't have the Bari Jay dress in stock so my MOH tried on several different Alfred Angelos including the one I had already picked out. She tried on one with a bubble hem and we both really liked it, but then the shop owner came over and said "Are any of the girls in the bridal party chubby or heavy?" I was so disgusted by him actually asking this and said "Why...?!" And he said because the dress would make them look even worse and point out their flaws. I could NOT believe he was actually saying something like that. I was beyond disgusted at this point, but here's the icing on the cake... I had checked the price online of the dress (the original dress we went in to look at) and it said under $175, so I asked him how much the dress would be and the tag said $199. I said, "Isn't this high?" and he said "I could make it higher if you want, because I know another shop that sells it for $249!" He then stated that alterations could run anywhere from $40 to over $100. He then went into a story of a girl who's dad is a doctor and came in and bought that same dress for her whole bridal party and just swiped his credit card to pay for 8 dresses. I said, "I'm sorry that my daddy isn't a doctor and I can't afford to buy all my girls their dresses and I don't want them to have to pay that much to be in my wedding. At this point I was done. We left and went over to Classic Brides by Eva in Stratford where we had a MUCH better experience with friendly service, much better prices, and FREE alterations! STAY AWAY FROM LUCILLES! P.S. The skeevy owner also tried to offer me a 10% discount.. how funny he uses that line on everyone!
They were able to alter my dress with only 4 weeks until the wedding which was great but the alterations were expensive. We did rent the tuxes and got the brides maid dresses there, everything worked out but if you have to deal win he owner good luck. He is not very nice, he pretends to be your best friend and then he is nasty. Would not go back.
Superior staff and quality..I tried on 5 dresses and found "the one" in no time! Everyone was so helpful, I miss them! It's a small shop that has just what you're looking for. We also got our groomsman tuxes there :)
Beautiful choice and the most helpful staff in Ct! Treated us like family- can't say enough positive things about this shop- don't even go anywhere else!
I wanted a certian Maggie Sottero wedding dress and it had been on her website for quite sometime fearing it would be discontinued I went to this bridal shop to get some information on it. Not only did they lie to me and tell me it was being discontinued at the end of the month (Oct. 2008 and it's still on her website now) but he said it'd be $950. Good thing I didn't fall for it, I got the same dress for $750 at a different shop. They were pushy and told me that was the only place around who could help me. Do your research before going here. I wish I could give them no stars.
Tony, Jen and Theresa were fabulous. We looked forward to going in there and visiting with them. We stumbled upon their bridal shop one afternoon (our first dress shopping location) and just knew that we needed to find a dress there. The dress was ordered custom size but I ended up losing a great deal of weight. They altered the dress without an additional fee. Love them!!!
Tony and Theresa were UNBELIEVEABLE!!! They made you feel like a princess, they took care of your every need, they did all alterations for an amazing deal and the dress looked beyond beautiful. I actually bought my dress elsewhere because they didn't carry the designer and they were more than happy to do the alterations for me. They became like family and we were sad once the wedding was over that we wouldn't see them again! Would highly recommend to anyone!!!!
I purchased my bridesmaid dresses here. I would not go back. The dresses were ordered in the wrong length, forcing my bridesmaid to get them altered. Also, many time myself and the bridesmaids were treated with rude attitudes from the staff.
I had a rough time finding a dress (5 months)people weren't listening to me and it was frustrating. When I went to Lucille's I felt like part of the family. They listened to me, and had a good experience with them and LOVED my dress. The only thing I would say is they tend to order dresses much bigger than needed, and therefore require a great deal of alterations particularly many of my girls needed 2-3 inches taken in on each side, so just heed caution with bridesmaid and mother of bride/groom dresses. Bridal dresses are typically ordered correctly in a closer size.
I loved that when I walked in to find my dress I had already been to 5 different places and had no luck with what I was looking for. I walked into Lucille's and told them what I wanted and they gave me 3 dresses. The second dress was the dress for me! The price was perfect too! I ended up buying my veils and tiara from them as well. When it came time to pick out the bridesmaids gowns they were so helpful then too!;It took a year for my dress to come in due to an employee not ordering it because she thought it was too soon based on the time for my wedding. I got my dress 8 weeks before my wedding which made me a little uneasy. This employee is no longer there and I didn't have any trouble from that point on.
