For cocktail hour, we had chicken & waffle skewers, deviled eggs, bacon wrapped shrimp, and an oyster bar. Our guests loved all of them and the oyster bar was a huge hit! For dinner, we had fried chicken, steak bavette, mashed potatoes, green beans, and dinner rolls and for dessert we had tiramisu, banana pudding, and tres leches. Everything was delicious and we received compliments on the food from multiple guests! There was only one hiccup, which was that several tables did not have enough chairs and table placements for all guests assigned to the tables due to the fact that the layout was not cross-checked with the seating chart. However, Lucy's team quickly resolved this problem once they were notified by guests. I was not even aware that this was a problem until after the wedding, which was good. Therefore, I will still give them 5-stars as they were able to identify the problem and solve it. Overall, we really enjoyed having them on our special day and would recommend them to future brides!

The staff was spectacular and ran the event so smoothly. The end of event clean up far exceeded my expectations. Cristina offered patience and guidance through the planning and execution of the event. She made the process easy and alleviated so much stress. I'm not in a hurry to throw another big backyard event, but if I do, I'll be calling Lucy's Fried Chicken!

the process. After talking with a few other places, we decided to check-out Lucy's. We were put in contact with Cristina who was there for us through every step of the process. Christina scheduled our tasting at their South Congress Location and provided a relaxed environment. She was present and communicative up to the wedding and even went out of her way to check -up on us after our big day. The food itself is not just inspired by southern dishes but truly is home cooked southern food with an upscale twist. Cristina and her staff were great with providing us with options and ideas. If for any reason there was something not available or out of our budget, they were quick with great alternatives. On the day of the wedding the food was EXACTLY as discussed. The hors d'oeuvres were impeccably plated. The staff was great with our guests and made sure to walk around and evenly disperse the starters. The staff even made sure that my wife and I were served starters as we mingled with our guests and had photos done. We chose to do buffet style and the food was presented beautifully and was well organized so people were able to efficiently get their plates. The staff was also attentive enough to have a pre-set plate for my wife and I so that we could enjoy our guests. There are very few words that could express how truly great of an experience we had with Lucy's Fried Chicken. One example of how they continue to go above and beyond is that our one year anniversary is coming up. I reached out to Cristina about recreating our wedding meal and if that was something that they offered. Cristina not only remembered who we were but was able to coordinate a dinner for us at their South Congress location. They continue to uphold their reputation of quality service and thoughtfulness. If you are looking to work with a vendor that is low pressure, knowledgeable, professional, works with your budget, LGBT friendly, truly cares about you and your experience, and has delicious southern food then Lucy's Fried Chicken should be the only choice on your list.

We had the chicken and waffle skewers as a late night snack which was a big hit! Her team even made sure that my husband and I had a to go plate made for us when we left for the night so that we wouldn’t miss out on any of the food we had picked. We can not recommend them enough!

Cristina helped us create a menu that catered to all guests with dietary restrictions. We also used Lucy's for our bar service as well, which they did an excellent job. I had a few guests come up to me after to rave about the bartenders and how professional they were. They even were able to create fancy mocktails for a few of our nonalcoholic friends, which were not on the menu. Cristina and her team were so easy to work with. I highly recommend them!

The catering menu is extensive, and we were able to get some of our favorites from the restaurant (fried chicken, grilled vegetables, banana pudding) and some items that are only available on the catering menu (like the beef bavette and appetizers for our cocktail hour like bacon-wrapped shrimp)—guests were literally following around the servers to get their hands on those. The food was excellent, and we received quite a few compliments from our guests on how much they enjoyed it (not something you usually hear about wedding food). Beyond that, Lucy’s is a full-service caterer, so we got great service staff through them as well. We also hired them to do the bartending and were very happy with the job they did. The catering coordinator Cristina was a joy to work with, and she was super attentive and accommodative throughout the process, helping us get exactly what we wanted. She even gave us some great advice that likely saved us a bundle (things like whether renting glassware is worth it). We feel like we received excellent value for our money in hiring Lucy’s, and we would recommend them for both food and bar catering services to anyone!

t style serving was really great for us considering we had people with different dining and dietary preferences so this really helped accommodate it all. I cannot recommend them enough! We also did our bar service through them since our venue only had one approved bar service or through a Full-Service and verified catering service. It's easy to see why Lucy's is approved and have been working with our venue, Shiraz Garden in Bastrop for a while. Thank you Lucy's!

The team invited us into their restaurant in South Austin to try out their food and make sure the drinks we selected were going to be perfect. Cristina and the team even created a "take out box" crawfish fried rice to honor my cultural side as a late night snack for the end of the night! Please, please, please book this crew! They're the epitome of southern hospitality and your booking will continue to support local businesses that keep Austin funky and weird.

reat the food was! By default, we never thought we would have raving reviews about our wedding food, but none the less, everyone thought it was spectacular. Cristina and her team were super responsive and helpful in the planning process, which we were doing on our own, and answered all of our questions. They curated a menu based on our tastings, guest count and accommodated all guest allergies. Not to mention we also ended up hiring them for the bar too! They were super helpful with our signature drinks including sourcing espresso for espresso martinis. We can’t recommend Lucy’s as both a caterer and bartender enough!

set up and clean up The only down side: Gratuity wasn't added till the end of the reception. We were under the impression that it had already been paid with the main bill until the server found the groom and asked him to sign for the charge during the party. There were some changes to administration during our planning period, so it's possible we forgot to ask about it during the transition. Just make sure you're clear about all charges. It's not fun to be hit with another $1000 during your party.

e. I just knew that 1, the options looked really fun and 2. it was in our price range! Our tasting at Lucy's was absolutely incredible and the place was such a vibe that we would have stayed there to drink all day if we didn't have other tastings to get to! We tried both fried and grilled chicken and a plethora of sides to determine what we liked the best. I'm pretty sure I died and went to heaven when I tried that first bite of gravy. My husbands only critique is that his mom's fried chicken was slightly better (spoiler, she wasn't offering to fry chicken for 140 people. ) Justine very sweetly told us that collard greens don't always go over the best, but also trusted our judgement when we said it would be a hit! Justine went on maternity leave during our planning process but we were never left in the dark, And from a super organized, planning, type A person like myself- she did one more thing I wish more vendors would do- A VACATION RESPONDER on their emails if it was the weekend or they were dealing with a big event! Yes you want your vendors to be responsive but they don't need to worry about checking if there is garlic in the sweet potatoes for me if they're working another event! I so appreciated this level of thoroughness. Lucy's wasn't on the preferred vendors for my venue, but they were familiar with the restaurant and open to making it work. Lucy's did a site visit and planned with the venue team. I had the slightest bit of nerves knowing they had never worked at our venue before, but it went so well that the venue owners have added them to the preferred list! As a person who loves connecting others, this makes my heart happy! Ok, the actual food. OMG everybody raved about it! We had a few WOW factors at our event, but the food was definitely mentioned the most. Many comments of "the best wedding food they had ever had." One friend noted "chicken at a wedding is always dry. This must be the first wedding I've ever been to with wet chicken." Everyone raved about it. Another friends husband said there was a moment after everyone had the first bite of just absolute WOW. We served fried and grilled chicken, collard greens, texas caviar, mashed sweet potatoes, lonestar beer gravy and cornbread with tequila butter. I think I heard votes for every single dish as the favorite- and I loved hearing people say they tried greens for the first time! We didn't do any apps for our wedding, but I knew even if someone was hungry while they waited, they would forgive us after dinner! OH! And we did dessert with them as well which was AWESOME. We didn't get to try the desserts, as they are just for catering, but at this point we trusted Lucy's and just went with it. And let me tell you, it was a hit! One of my favorite memories is my husband behind me on the dancefloor with a lemon bar in hand! We ended up having some food and dessert left over and man were people thrilled to see that at the after party! Nothing like seeing your loved ones pretty buzzed walking around with a chicken leg in hand! Oh, and it was a GREAT value! Right about $26/ person for food AND dessert! Talk about a good deal!! I could write another five paragraphs. Just do yourself a favor and book the tasting, and pack your stretchy pants.

We got the opportunity to visit their restaurant in south Austin and the food was amazing, and the food that was served at our wedding was even better! The staff that worked our wedding was very professional, friendly, courteous, and went above and beyond to ensure we had nothing to worry about with regard to the food, drink and dessert. We can't thank the entire staff at Lucy's enough! They made the booking and execution of catering for our wedding a 5 star experience at a very, very reasonable price!!!

She knew all the right questions to ask and guided us to the perfect menu. Our tasting was delicious, and we had plenty of leftovers. On the day of the wedding, Lucy's did a fantastic job. They showed up early, easy to work with and packed up all of the leftovers at the end of the wedding. Our guests loved the food and commented on how great the staff was. The presentation was even better than we envisioned. We highly recommend the oysters - they were a big hit!

We originally were going to have our ceremony in 2020 and had to postpone till 2021. That extra wait was no problem for Lucy’s staff. They worked with us and made sure a year later they would have everything we needed. Our guest were so surprised when they say Oysters and the Chicken and waffle skewers would be the appetizers. They were gone in mere minutes. The main course was a huge hit with our guests and they couldn’t stop raving about the sides. Lucy’s definitely contributed to our unique night and made the night that much more special to us. They were a pleasure to work with and never missed a beat. The staff and Chef were professional, easy going, and attentive. If you want a different type of food, and one that your guests will still talk about days later, go with Lucy’s. ess. Initially we were with a totally different venue that had a small list of vendors, and I was eyeing Lucy's long before we even booked the venue. I'm glad that they were on that list. We switched venues about 2 months after we booked Lucy's, and I was panicking and freaking out that we wouldn't be able to keep them as our caterer. However, after frantically calling Justine, thankfully they were still available with our new date and venue! The taste testing was phenomenal, easy, and affordable. We were given so much great food during our tasting, and luckily, we were able to take the leftovers home! Justine was very sweet and answered all our questions in stride and was able to accommodate for us a couple of things! My family is from Guatemala, and I wanted to provide coffee from my parent's home country. Justine & Lucy's were kind enough to let us bring our own coffee to provide for the staff to serve (and at a reduced rate which was very kind!). I can't thank them enough for that extra little touch, it doesn't seem like much, but my family RAVED about the coffee and how well the staff handled it. When it came to the day of the wedding, the staff was PHENOMENAL!! My husband and I were blown away by how great the staff was! We walked up to the buffet line barely grabbing a plate, they immediately stopped us saying they already had our plates prepped. They brought the food up to us, drinks, and everything. They were so observant and would swiftly take away any dirty/empty plates, check in on us frequently, and ensured everything went smoothly. When it came to cake cutting, I was worried I wouldn't be clear enough because our wedding was a bit crazy, but the staff didn't really bat an eye and quickly started the process and made it super easy. Prior to the big day, I asked Justine if we could provide tupperware for any leftover food. We were able to do so and brought it up, the staff had prepacked so much of the food, we didn't have enough containers!! But they provided the aluminum containers for the extras, and we took it all home. So many of our guests didn't show up on the day of, we were left with a week's worth of food even after splitting it up amongst my entire bridal party and family (over 20 people). I'm really glad that they let us take the food home. It kept many of our family and friends fed for a while :) If you're looking for great, filling, comfort food that all family will enjoy, please consider Lucy's!! My husband and I are very big on supporting local businesses, and we were so happy we chose them over anyone else. All of my family raved about the food and how fantastic the staff was, my husband and I can't stop thinking about how great everything was, and how they truly tied the day together making it as amazing as it was. s above and beyond their restaurant offerings. We’re big fans of comfort food and didn’t want to be too fussy with our wedding menu, so this felt like a perfect option. We had some great options for passed appetizers like baby crab cakes and mushroom tartlets, as well as chicken and waffle skewers that were a big hit. The buffet was fun and tasty, and despite their focus on good chicken they also had a bavette steak option that was tender and served with a lovely horseradish cream sauce. Top it off with roasted veggies, mac and cheese and corn bread, and the meal was to die for. We had opted not to have a cake so instead we had a spread of mini desserts AND a super fun s’mores station with delicious gourmet marshmallows that was a great cap to the night. The desserts got the thumbs-up approval of my friend’s 12 year old son, so you KNOW they were good. They also had lots of other great activation station options that we didn’t take advantage of, like oyster-shucking stations and the like that sounded really fun. I’d highly recommend Lucy’s for any event.
