Lush Floral Design

This was a difficult review to write as I know how tough Covid has been for everyone, wedding vendors specifically, and maybe something got lost in translation when things went virtual and in the busyness of this crazy wedding season. First, I was a little nervous and frustrated with the communication levels. I booked Wendy about eight months out from my August 2021 wedding, at which point we said we would talk again in late spring or early summer to finalize details. In the end, I was the one who had to reach out at the end of June and then again in mid July to get the ball rolling on a Zoom meeting because our final payment was coming due in the next few days! The added stress was that we had to make final decisions very quickly after that call so that the floral order deadline could be met too. It was quite strange because our initial conversation was great, and it seemed like Wendy understood my vision which made me feel confident in choosing her. But our subsequent emails and next conversation were much more awkward and rushed in tone, and even made me feel like the questions I had or changes I was asking for were a burden. This also made me hesitant to reiterate my vision, as if we had already discussed it and I didn’t want to take up more of what I’m sure was her limited time. Sadly, when the day came, it was oddly hit or miss on whether the florals ended up being what I had asked for. Things like the bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces were beautiful and close to what was discussed and pictured, but other things like my bouquet, the boutonnieres, the gazebo feature, etc. were not. You definitely don’t want to be jealous of the bridesmaids bouquets or come down the aisle the first time and be distracted by the deco haha! In the end, all flowers are beautiful so I tried to make the best of it, but I had spent soo much of my time trying to narrow down that vision and express it carefully through words and photos that it was honestly a let down - especially my bridal bouquet. My heart actually dropped when I first saw the bouquet because it didn’t look like what we had talked about! This is the one thing you want to get right, because it feels like such a personal expression of who you are and what’s going to be featured in so many photos and moments that day. I asked for something soft and romantic, talked about roses and carnations, nothing too pointy or harsh, but then ended up with ferns in the bouquet and the main feature of the gazebo decoration. Even the ribbon color used to wrap it was different from what we had discussed and listed in the proposal which was so odd to me! It truly felt like someone else’s bouquet had gotten mixed in with my order, like some of our specific requests ended up getting lost in the shuffle, and perhaps that some of the more “creative” decisions were made without making sure they matched my tastes. All that being said, I think Wendy is a lovely person. The certain pieces that matched my vision were beautiful. She was punctual, explained how to keep the bouquets looking fresh, and even came back that same evening to pick up all the rentals. But more communication overall would have helped, I suppose? My suggestion for future brides would be to take the time to re-discuss your vision in length in the final conversation, stand your ground, be very very specific on certain blooms and goods in the proposal, and don't rely on inspiration photos to feel like your vision is understood!

Wendy was very nice and picked beautiful flowers and arranged the flowers beautifully. My wedding was everything I hoped it would be.

Wendy was great to work with. She did the floral arrangements for our April wedding and they were even better than I could have imagined. Prices are reasonable and delivery/set-up was easy.

My wife and I wanted to say that Wendy, the owner, did a fantastic job with the floral arrangement. My wife and she talked about color palette and the vision that my wife wanted for the wedding. Wendy brought in a two catalogs of floral arrangement ideas along with her iPad to help come up with ideas for the floral arrangement. The day of the wedding arrived and Wendy was there at the Sentinel Hotel putting everything together and it looked amazing not to mention the arrangement that went with the wedding cake from Dream Cakes. It all came together from the bridal bouquet to the arrangement in the reception room. We'd recommend Wendy for your special day. You won't go wrong with her floral arrangement!

We were married on October 19, 2019. I lived in Washington and needed a florist in Portland to do our flowers. I never actually met Wendy in person, but she was so helpful and accommodating to my situation. We had a few phone consultations, and she had worked with my venue before (The Aerie at Eagle Landing.) She was easy to work with and honest about which flowers would look best and be in season at the time of my wedding. She made a large floral piece for my head table and pergola, bouquets that lasted for days after the wedding, and centerpieces that really complimented the lanterns and candles I had on display. I would highly recommend Wendy and Lush Floral Design. Extremely professional and prompt!

I'm a bit clueless about flowers, so I was looking for someone I could just hand this wedding piece over to and trust them to take it from there. Wendy did an OUTSTANDING job. The flowers were beautiful and went so well with our location and wedding vision. We were able to take care of everything via email and Paypal. I sent her screenshots from Pinterest that aligned with what I was looking for. She took care of everything, even delivery! Will be recommending to my newly engaged friends. Lush really amazed us with their work :)

I honestly never got to meet her but my bouquet was absolutely beautiful, so were the bridal bouquets, the toss bouquet, and our arch flowers! We had flowers for our groomsmen and they were pretty easy to put on. Our cake flowers looked phenomenal as well. Overall, amazing flowers and day!

I met Wendy from my venue's preferred vendor’s night, I compared her pricing with many of other florist around Portland and she seemed very reasonable and has worked with my venue tons which was a plus! I met Wendy and really had no idea what to do with flowers, I had colors but no swatches on me at the time. At first I thought Wendy was a little awkward but found out throughout the conversation that she is sweet and knows what she is doing when it comes to flowers. Her designs are very classic and elegant which was what I was looking for, I did not want a typical Portland green green hipster flowers! She looked at my Pinterest and starting pulling her own ideas for my wedding into her own Pinterest folder, she was on the ball! Anytime, I made outreach or changes she always was accommodating! I had to add two more bouquets to my order about 3 weeks before the wedding which is beyond her changes date and she just did it no problem! The bouquets were gorgeous, though they did have hydrangeas and carnations more than anything, which I thought was cheap and I did not want hydrangeas, but again overall the flowers and arrangements were too pretty to actually matter. She came on time took care of everything so swiftly and quietly and was gone before I knew it! Make the type of flowers clear to her, which I missed on, and I'm sure you will be 100% happy with her service!! Great job Wendy, thank you!!

Wendy is an incredible florist who is not only talented at what she does but is incredibly organized, thoughtful, and really does listen to what you want. I appreciated her attention to detail and her willingness to make changes as they came up. She is very reasonable in terms of price and does an amazing job from planning, to set-up, and then finally removal. I HIGHLY recommend Wendy as the florist for your wedding -- she is amazing!

Wendy was fantastic to work with! There were three things that really stuck out to me about Wendy. First, she was extremely flexible. My venue fell through at the last minute and we had to move our wedding up two weeks, and Wendy easily accommodated the switch. In addition, on the wedding day our venue booked a rehearsal dinner during our setup time and she totally worked around them, making sure everything was still set up in time. Second, she did a fantastic job capturing the style and theme I wanted. The ideas she sent me via Pinterest were spot on, and the final result was more beautiful than I could have hoped for. She also helped brainstorm a few new ideas of her own that helped warm up the space. Lastly, her price was awesome and I feel like I got an incredible deal considering all the work she did and the quality of it. I could not have asked for anyone better!

Wendy provides a very thorough initial meeting for flower selection, ensuring that you will get what you want. Her prices are excellent and the final products are beautiful.

Our wedding flowers were everything we hoped they would be, absolutely gorgeous colors and textures. We met with Wendy a few months before the wedding to discuss what we liked, she came prepared with her iPad and lots of examples of her work, which is why we chose her instead of other florists we interviewed, plus she was very sweet and put us at ease. She was incredibly flexible with the changes we requested and when she delivered the flowers on the wedding day they looked better than I had imagined.

I only had to meet Wendy once before we decided to use her as our florist for our wedding. Her work speaks for itself and having been to a friend's wedding previously and having gotten the chance to see her work first hand, I know she would be a perfect fit for us. I didn't want to be super "hands-on" when it came to picking out our flowers for the wedding. I simply told her the kinds of flowers I tended to like and color scheme and just let her run with it. I couldn't have been happier with the way the flowers for the centerpieces, bouquets, everything really, turned out. I would recommend Wendy to anyone I meet! She is wonderful to work with and the sweetest person!

She worked with our budget, and beat the lowest price. Delivery and set-up were included in our budget and the flowers were everything we could have wanted. She was amazing and a pleasure to work with.
