You should 100% hire Maceli's for any catering needs you have. Let me tell you about the unique situation we had and how Macelis went above and beyond... So we started out planning our September 2020 wedding in January of 2020~ a normal wedding with a plated dinner and 125-150 guests. We loved the tasting at Macelis and made our down payment to reserve our date... then as we all know Covid hit. We postponed the wedding to September 2021, and Jesse was extremely flexible in the difficult situation and applied our payment toward our future date (this sounds normal, but not all vendors were as gracious and flexible)... Fast forward to March 2021. Covid is raging on, and we know it won't be gone by September. So we decided to cancel the wedding and pivot to a totally new idea. We rented an airbnb for 4 days in August, invited our 15 closest family and friends and planned to enjoy quality time with a DIY ceremony on Saturday. Everyone agreed to quarantine and test for covid ahead of time, just to make sure we were all safe since there would be immunocompromised people in attendance. I then approached Jesse with a huge ask: Can we change our date once again, apply our down payment towards the new plan, and can you cater meals for 15 people for 4 days instead of 1 large meal for 150- oh and can we do all this virtually and curbside...I was prepared for him to laugh in my face, keep the down payment and send me on my way, but instead he told me he would talk to the owner and see what they could do since they had never planned an event like this. He came back a few days later with meal plans and a quote. Fast forward again to a week before the wedding when I called him to touch base and pay the remaining balance. He told me he would call me back the next day because he wanted to look over the contract again and reduce the cost of our bill... just because. WOW! He also sent me all the reheating instructions for each meal and the packaging was amazing. Not to mention the food was OUTSTANDING. Seriously, everyone raved about every single meal AND their portions were huge so we had plenty of leftover to freeze and are still enjoying the food today. The Macelis team and expecially Jesse is truly as good as it gets.

This venue and the staff were nothing short of amazing. We worked with Jesse who was always a pleasure to work with and made sure we had everything we needed. All of our guests couldn’t stop talking about how great the meal was. I highly recommend the beef shoulder and the honey miso salmon! You won’t be disappointed if you choose this venue.

Lara and her whole team at Maceli’s make dreams come true—I am not kidding. The food is absolutely stellar. I am still dreaming about the pasta bar at our wedding this past weekend. We got so many compliments on that pesto cream sauce! The grilled vegetable medley was the best i have ever had, I seriously can’t get over the flavor and how perfectly grilled they were. We were offsite catering and all of the food tasted fresh out of the oven. Working with Maceli’s was easy from start to finish and they are extremely professional. I would recommend them for any event in the greater kansas city to topeka area!!

I am beyond happy with the service and room set up. The decorations came together a lot better than I could have done on my own. There seemed to be so many little touches and special parts. I loved the napkins under the center pieces, the ribbon I brought being made into bows for the head table, there are just too many details to list. It was a phenomenal day and I'm so glad we had Maceli's to work with us. The staff was very helpful while the guys were getting ready. The brought in mirrors and seemed always willing to help. We will highly recommend Maceli's for events. They exceeded our already high expectations. Thank you for being a huge part of our Super Wedding and special day.

This review will not adequately do justice to how awesome the Maceli's team was to work with. From the very early stages of simply exploring dates and menu options, all the way to the actual Wedding Day, and even beyond. We primarily worked with Lara Kamosa, Laura Wooding, and Jesse Rice. You would have thought that it was their own wedding that they were working on, based on how excellent they were. They exceeded our expectations on every dimension - responsiveness, flexibility, service, sheer effort, etc. Special kudos to them given the fact that our wedding was unique and complex to begin with, and then bad weather forced us to make a lot of changes in the last few days before the event. Through all of this, they adjusted as needed to make sure the day-of was excellent. They even gave us very valuable advice and asked smart questions about aspects of the wedding that weren't even related to catering. Final thing to mention, which shouldn't be overlooked, is that the food was delicious! We have heard nothing but positive feedback from our guests about that. We cannot recommend Maceli's enough. They are absolute pros, and will treat your event with the same level of care and importance that you do.

We worked with Lara throughout our wedding process at Maceli's and she was amazing! She was willing and ready to answer any questions we had, even though we had a lot as it got closer to the big day. She worked with us to come up with a detailed schedule for the night and was with us every step of the process. The venue at Maceli's is great for if you have a larger family. There is enough space to hold 300, but we only had 160 and it was very comfortable and well spaced out. There is a bistro room where you can have the bar separate from the main area. This gave guests a nice quiet place to escape to during the reception. The staff at Maceli's were very helpful and kept the place looking good all night. The food that Maceli's makes is INCREDIBLE. Everything was so delicious and we got so many compliments. They are also able to accommodate for vegan/vegetarian entrees if you need them. We thought the alcohol pricing here was very reasonable compared to what we saw when looking for venues. The price to rent this venue is also VERY reasonable compared to others. I would highly recommend using Maceli's! We got so many compliments all night and continue to get them about how nice our venue and the food was! So pleased we made this choice.

I used Maceli's to cater my rehearsal dinner and they were so wonderful to work with. Jeese worked with me to help make sure we stayed in budget and I was more than happy with the results. All of the food was so delicious and the service was exceptional. Maceli's truly works to make sure your event is perfect and I would definitely use them again in the future!

My son and daughter in laws rehearsal dinner here was great. Several guests came and complimented me on the food. I tried all three appetizers: bourbon bbq meatballs, spinanch artichoke dip, and Florentine stuffed mushrooms and they were delicious. We had chicken parm which was awesome and vegetable lasagna which I didn't try. Staff was great too.

We worked with Lara at Maceli's where we held our wedding reception for about 100 people and we also used their Bistro for the rehearsal dinner. We have been beyond impressed with the service. Lara is so kind, patient, very professional, and easy to work with. Everything went great! They have a nice bridal room to get ready in, beautiful lighting, are super timely, and the food is delicious!

If you are on a budget and don't have time to look for a caterer AND a liquor provider, look no further and book here! We had 125-150 guests and they are still talking about this venue! I want to give a shout out to LORI! I did not have my centerpieces completely thought out but she went that extra mile and created a beautiful atmosphere. She even helped me in my wedding dress when all other bridesmaids were getting together! My husband and I fell in love with this venue once we had a food tasting and a personal tour of the venue. They do it all and took away much stress on the big day. Thank you Maceli's for making our day the best and memorable.

Maceli’s was the BEST place to have my wedding reception! They set everything up AND tore everything down for us! The venue is beautiful, and their food is BOMB. We got so many compliments on how good their food was!

Both Kasey and Lara are a joy to work with at Maceli's! They also responded quickly to my questions and everything was set up just how we pictured. Our guests raved about how good the food was and how beautiful the lighting was. Could not recommend them enough!

We could not have asked for a better staff and venue for our July wedding. Lara and the Maceli's staff were calm and organized on our wedding day and made sure that everything went smoothly. The venue was beautiful and required little decoration, and all of our guests raved about how delicious the food was. Maceli's made it easy for us to relax and enjoy our wedding day with no stress.

Maceli's catered our daughters wedding at The Castle Tea Room 5/27/2017. I would give them 10 stars if possible. Lara and the staff went above and beyond all expectations. Lara helped us chose an amazing menu for our event and they were beyond patient and helpful with all of our pre-wedding chaos.They hung all our lights/lanterns/curtains etc and with uncertain weather were very flexible on setup and serving arrangements. The food and service was OUTSTANDING. They also were very conscientious about backdrops and flowers for the grounds due to Winter kill. I can't say thank you enough. We would highly recommend Maceli's for any event you are considering.

Perfect place for a wedding reception! Lara was amazing. She and her team took care of essentially everything and made the day stress free for me. I have recommended them to many others and will continue to do so!

We had a fantastic experience with Maceli's! Lara was awesome to work with, she was extremely accommodating and kept in touch with me throughout the entire experience. We met several times to go over details and she always greeted us with a smile and had fresh ideas we hadn't thought of to offer when we were stuck trying to decide what option to choose. We went to two different tasting parties there and everything we tried was to die for. We are constantly getting compliments on the food from guests who attended our reception. We chose Caesar salad, Apple Bourbon Pork, Garlic & Herb Beef and Mashed Potatoes. The event space itself was gorgeous. The only thing we felt like we needed to decorate was the tables! The balcony adds a great vantage point for guests seated up there. The bistro room was perfect for the cocktail hour, bar area and photobooth. We had a fairly large reception with 200 guests and it did get crowded during the cocktail hour, but guests were able to find their seats in the banquet room if they felt uncomfortable. I would recommend Maceli's to EVERYONE! Knowing everything would be covered thanks to their professional staff gave me peace of mind throughout the entire planning experience! We had a great experience with Maceli's - they were easy to work with from the beginning, were sensitive to our budget, and took care of everything, including special dietary requests. A few of our guests remarked that this was the best wedding food they'd ever had. We had a large wedding (300) and our guests were able to get through the buffet line quickly and enjoy their meal.

My daughter had her wedding reception at Maceli's and it was wonderful! She lives in Kansas City and we looked at several locations. Maceli's was the best price for what is included. The facility is beautiful, food was delicious and all the staff was friendly and helpfully throughout the entire evening. I would highly recommend using Maceli's for any event!

We used Maceli's for both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding. We had it catered both times to a different location, although we ate at Maceli's for one of their tastings and really loved the venue as well. We had already contracted with our venue at the time of the tasting or else we would have been very interested at having our wedding on location. The food was INCREDIBLE. Our guests wouldn't stop talking about how delicious the food was especially the beef. The staff were a dream to work with as they were very attentive, communicative, and professional. And last but definitely not least, they have SO MANY options for truly every budget. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone better in Lawrence. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone planning a wedding.

I just had my wedding and reception at Macelis and it was absolutely perfect! I had so many compliments about how beautiful the wedding was and how amazing the food was as well. The staff were great to work with and everything came together even better than I had imagined. I can not than Macelis enough for making our wedding day so perfect!

My sister had had a great experience with Maceli's for her rehearsal dinner several years ago, which is why we decided to use them for our wedding. Maceli's did a fantastic job catering our wedding. They were willing to work with an additional caterer who provided traditional Indian food. Maceli's provided the table settings, catering equipment delivery and set up, beverage table, appetizers and a buffet dinner. Lara was very organized and easy to work with. She worked with us to be able to attend a tasting from out of state and answered any questions we had along the way. The food was delicious and received lots of compliments from our guests. The prices were definitely reasonable for the service received. I would definitely recommend Maceli's!

Very easy to work with Maceli's from start to finish. I appreciated the constant flexibility and the food was fantastic! They provided bar service, drink service, cake cutting, and a buffet for the best value around town, with what I believe was equal quality! They worked well with our venue and everything went off without a hitch for our 130 guests! The biggest hit was the coffee bar - people loved it since it was a little chilly outside that night! Would highly recommend!

Macelis's staff and owner were SO nice and helpful! They were so willing to help and knew the importance of a good business reputation. They definitely out shined all the other venues we looked at! And were reasonable in price compared to others as well! SOO helpful it made the process MUCH easier! They even decorated for us when we brought everything to them! I definitely recommend using Maceli's for any wedding or event! They truly did make it a wonderful night!

I had my reception at Maceli's and it was amazing. Everything turned out beautifully and all the staff that worked at the reception was very friendly and professional. They have recently done renovations and it looks wonderful. I had SO many compliments on this venue and I am so happy that we went with them! You do have to cater through Maceli's. Their food is DELICIOUS. You can't go wrong with anything you pick. My husband and I do think it is overpriced and we had to go over our budget to pay for the food but all of the guests enjoyed the venue and the food and it was well worth it! I wouldn't have changed a thing. Again, the staff was so friendly and they even tried to help us with our budget the best they could! Everything was perfect and beautiful and I would highly suggest this venue for a reception site!!!! Downtown Lawrence, Great food, beautiful venue…can't beat it!!!!

I held my reception for around 200 people at Maceli's and used their catering. There was plenty of room for everyone and my guests all commented on how they liked the food. The staff was very easy to work with before the event and the event staff did a wonderful job of running everything. The price was a bit higher than I originally wanted but in the end the product was well worth the expense. I highly recommend Maceli's!

We had Maceli's cater our rehearsal dinner at the Watkins Community Museum. They served a really nice deluxe Italian dinner buffet. We loved the salad and eggplant entree especially well, and the desserts were great. The deluxe Italian is much better than the other Italian buffet option they provide, which I have had in the past. The service and clean-up were smooth, and on a holiday as well!

We had the deluxe taco bar at our wedding reception. So many people told us it was the best wedding food they had ever had! It was just delicious. The staff was also great. They catered to our needs, asking what they could do to help just often enough. They even got me water and lit the candles on the tables for us! They were truly outstanding.

I decided upon Maceli's after having been to a couple of events that were catered by them. I have never been disappointed with the food at any meal I've had prepared by them and our wedding dinner was no exception! We had the pasta bar served buffet style with a mixed green salad and breadsticks. We did not use their banquet space (they catered off-site for us), but their hall is beautiful as well! The service was excellent, the food was wonderful - I will definitely be keeping Maceli's on my go to list for events in the future. Kasey was our representative - and she's just wonderful. We kept a lot of email contact throughout the process and she was an absolute pleasure to work with in regards to keeping the price affordable for us. Thanks, Kasey!

Amazing food, great service, overall fantastic experience! The food (I had Italian buffet) was on time, hot, and delicious. They went out of their way to do an excellent job.

We had our reception at Maceli's and they catered the dinner, as well. Laura and Steve were both so wonderful to work with. Laura was patient with my million emails and they were so accommodating to what we needed. We chose to have the full-service plan and the waiters were efficient and friendly. Our guests still rave that it has been one of the best meals they have had at a wedding. The food was very reasonable and the portions were HUGE. Everything went smoothly and we couldn't have asked for it to go better. I would definitely recommend Maceli's to anyone looking for a reception site in Lawrence and surrounding areas; you will be given great service and it is well worth your money.

Maceli's offers a fantastic economy buffet option. The food was so good our guests still constantly talk about the turkey! They offer trial nights for interested couples where you can go and preview the menu options (though not all are offered), and usually you can get a voucher to try some of their food at their Sunday brunches, which is also delicious!). Couldn't of been better, and we still spent way less than many of my friends with comparable catering options.

I love Maceli's and Steve and his staff. The food was divine! I have had so many compliments on the food and how tasty it was. Now, as the bride, I don't really remember the food because you are so busy! I do know that they offer taste testing throughout the year which allows you to taste a variety of options. I would recommend them to anyone!

I recommend Maceli’s to everyone that is looking to get married in Lawrence! Laura did an awesome job helping me get all my thoughts and ideas to come together. She was so patient with all the “discussions” with family. When I walked in on my wedding day I could not believe that the room was completely transformed into our very own. I have been to other events in Maceli’s and was afraid that it would not be “special”, but I was blown away with how everything came together. The food was phenomenal and the price could not be beat in town! Thank you again to Laura and the staff and Maceil’s for making our wedding day a special one to remember!

The staff at Maceli's are very easy to work with and completely cooperative. We had about 300 guests and they all fit comfortably into the main room. The bar was in the bistro room... also the place we ended up having our rehearsal dinner. The food was amazing and there are several options when it comes to pricing. We were on a relatively tight budget and ended up going with the buffet with plastic plates... but they looked just as good as china! We were very happy with the service!

Maceli's worked out beautifully for the wedding and reception. Main hall is nicely laid out, the staff and owner helped immensely in planning our event. Food was excellent! Drawback: A Bridal Fair was held earlier on the day of our event which we were not informed about until after we had decided to book with them. We had to push our start time back twice, but all worked out in the end. Used their staff wedding planner but still had some mixups the day of, would suggest more clear communication and oversight to make sure all goes as planned.

We got married and had a our reception at Maceli's. The venue is absolutely beautiful. And the staff worked with us to prepare the venue for our wedding and then quickly shift things around for the reception. It went off without a hitch. I thought the food was a little expensive for what we ended up getting. Oh, and one more odd thing. The top of our cake, which we wanted to save for our anniversary, somehow "disappeared" during the evening. Maceli's was quick to solve the problem and they bought us a new top to our cake. But it was a little odd.

Great to work with! We ended up changing some of the details about the package we picked, which I was nervous about them not bringing the right stuff. They brought everything we asked for, and the food was great!

we had maceli's cater at the spring hill suites. they were good about responding to emails and communicating during the planning process. however, there was, in my opinion, i miscommunication about the size of the room. we were told it held 225, so we felt free to have that many guests. we had a dance floor, head table, etc., and found out about 2-3 weeks before the wedding that that many people wouldn't fit along with a dance floor. good thing our rsvp count was low enough that we skated by. however, we had told them we'd be inviting 225 and having a dance floor and all of the extras when we signed the contract for the venue, so i would have expected them to tell me at that point that that wouldn't work. we were also supposed to get the room at noon on the day of the wedding for the rest of our vendors to set up (floral, cake, etc.), but apparently they had decided to book a lunch event and people couldn't get in to work on stuff until several hours later. accommodations were made so that the other vendors wouldn't need to make extra trips (table set up elsewhere to make the arrangements and then the maceli's staff brought them in after the other event was over). overall, it went smoothly. the planner was nice, the food was very good, and they have lots of options to fit all of the picky eaters in our family. overall, we had lots of fun, and that's all that matters. plus, you won't find a better value in lawrence. they do good work for way cheaper than the other places we looked.

There was enough room for 300 people to move around. the bar was in another room. There was room to dance and they were very accommodating with what I wanted at our reception. It was really great, we loved it!;We got married in July and it was super hot and we had 300 guests- do it was warm, but that's a lot of bodies and 100 degree weather.
