Mad River Barn

We got married at the Mad River Barn in July and it was an absolute dream. Truly, I cannot imagine a more perfect place or better service. The venue is stunning, from the pavilion, to the grounds, to the restaurant and pub, everything was so beautiful. We did not even add any flowers to the arbor because it felt unnecessary, the grounds were so lovely. I could write a book about the amazing service provided by Adrienne and her team. Every single member of the MRB staff we encountered went above and beyond to make our day perfect and to make our guests feel at home. All weekend we heard from our guests about how awesome and welcoming the staff was. This was particularly important to us because we had a multiracial group of guests. Adrienne was an excellent communicator every step of the way, she is warm, experienced, thoughtful, accommodating, professional, even-keeled, just plain awesome...the list goes on. She was available throughout the planning process, and she and her team (special shout out to Taika) were superheros on the day - appearing with french fries when we were hungry and hiding out before the wedding, printing our vows and speeches on card stock morning-of, wiping down each bench for the ceremony after a downpour an hour before the ceremony, you get the point! Let's take a moment for the FOOD! I often hear that no one remembers the food at a wedding, but the food at MRB is truly memorable. Our guests are STILL talking about how delicious everything was. Chef Sam and his team are amazing. We had a casual welcome gathering in the on-site pub Friday night (so fun!) and the wood-fired flatbreads and salad were amazing, the cocktail hour and ceremony food was incredible (still salivating over the mac and cheese), and the breakfasts all weekend were phenomenal. Our guests also loved our after party in the pub and were able to get delicious late night snacks. Chef Sam checked in throughout to make sure everything was good (and yes, everything was perfect and delicious), and his team was very accommodating to our guests with dietary restrictions. It was also really fun to have the whole wedding party, immediate family, and additional friends staying on-site at the venue all weekend. It cut down on stress for everyone and made the whole weekend feel so, so special. I also need to mention the "pinterest shed." This shed is full of signs, vases, votives, baskets, frames, lanterns, place card holders, etc. for decorating. This. Was. So. Helpful. Basically everything I needed was already available with lots of different items and styles to sort through. Honestly though, the venue is so beautiful, that it barely needs decoration. If I could give Mad River Barn 10 out of 5 stars I would. My husband and I loved it, our families loved it, and our guests loved it. Several guests have shared that our wedding was the best one they'd ever been to, and we have to give all the credit to the MRB team. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!

Where to begin with Mad River Barn— we could not have asked for a more attentive group of staff and stunning backdrop for our wedding day. If you are considering a Vermont wedding, I deeply urge you to consider this hidden gem. With it’s grand glass walls and vaulted wood ceilings, the pavilion is a wonderful spot to enjoy a night of laughter and dancing. The landscaping across the entire venue was immaculately blossoming. Guests raved about their rooms and the after-party Pub scene too. The venue brings its own magic as do the humans that bring the venue to life. From the very start of the wedding planning process, Adrienne was so supportive and accommodating. As we were originally scoping out venues across VT for our wedding day, I became a bit discouraged by the lack of connection I felt with the coordinators of other venues. The minute we met Adrienne, I felt at ease and everything “clicked!” She made the entire planning process feel seamless and was more than willing to help in any way possible throughout our wedding weekend. She went out of her way to ensure our guests were comfortable, even hand-delivering an off-menu meal of chicken and couscous after the kitchen had closed, to the room of a guest who was not feeling well. Chef Sam is a culinary genius, not to mention a great guy. He brings life to the saying, “food is art.” At our tasting in mid-winter, we were struck by the confidence Sam evoked from us regarding his ability to source sought after local, in-season ingredients as well as to intricately layer tastes and textures. Oftentimes, I find that a wedding meal is either excellent in presentation or taste; however, Sam balanced and delivered on both, bringing each course to life! We can’t begin to count how many guests gushed to us about their meals. The bartending staff was incredibly attentive and added to the fun-loving atmosphere of our wedding as they too danced along to our band’s epic setlist. On our wedding weekend, we also had the pleasure of meeting Taika, who was incredibly helpful and, again, so easy to feel a connection with! Taika was always readily available to answer our questions, offer great tips to our guests, and lend a helping hand when needed. My father was tickled when he walked into the lobby saying “My daughter needs…” and she responded with “Whatever your daughter needs, I will find!” Thank you, MRB, for sharing your beautiful space and team with us. We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding experience!
