I went to Madeleines Daughter to purchase my wedding gown for my September 2024 wedding, and I had the most wonderful experience. I worked originally with McKenzie and later Maddie to choose my dress and veil, and my husband also got his tux from the mens department. I was able to try on so many beautiful dresses before finding my dream dress. McKenzie and Maddie were able to take my somewhat chaotic inspo board and help me find a dress without getting overwhelmed. I was nervous at first, but Madeleines Daughter made the dress and veil buying process fun and easy, and Ill remember the experience I had with my mom, MOH, MIL and close family friend for the rest of my life!
We got absolutely everything at Madeleine's daughter! I had a great experience picking out my dress here especially as someone who has a tough time with clothes both in confidence and in proportions. Everyone we worked with was lovely. Both our mom's found their perfect dresses here, the bridesmaids dresses and Groomsmen tuxes as well. They do have discounts for other purchases if you buy your wedding dress here and my husband's Tux was a free rental! Really excellent team, I never went to any other bridal store.
Melissa was fantastic to work with and she helped me try on several options until I found the dress that I fell in love with. She made it such a fun and exciting experience! Purchasing my dress and accessories at Madeleine's was a great experience. They were responsive and easy to work with and their formal department made getting suits for my entire wedding party easy and enjoyable as well.
So beautiful and professional!!! Super knowledgeable and made the whole experience incredible.
Madeleine's Daughter is an amazing bridal salon. I had a wonderful experience getting my wedding dress! Jodie made the process so easy. She curated gowns based on my review of dresses and description of my wedding. It was perfect and I found my wedding dress in one visit!
Madeleine's Daughter is the place to go for all of your wedding attire needs! From my wedding gown to my bridesmaids dresses, my accessories to the suits for the men, the team at Madeleine's Daughter is FULL of rockstars! Everyone was so pleasant and helpful, I can't recommend them enough.
Madeleine’s Daughter was the first dress shop I went to - and I found my wedding dress almost immediately! Melissa was so kind and helpful, pushing me to consider a dress outside of what I thought I wanted, and it ended up being the one. All of the staff at MD is welcoming and professional. My dress and veil were shipped to me without any issues, with tracking, and with lovely personal notes from the team! I highly recommend checking them out to start looking for your wedding dress.
Melissa was my stylist and she was so welcoming, encouraging and knowledgable. I went to MD for my first bridal shopping experience and I was nervous yet excited! She took the time to hear my wishlist and pulled many styles for me to try. She tailored her picks based on my feedback and we found my dress after the 6th one! The selection of gowns is great and the atmosphere is welcoming and kind.
I arrived at my appointment with only one other appointment under my belt. I still did not really know what I wanted or what I was looking for. My stylist, Sophie, was the best! She was so patient and chose dresses for me that really helped me narrow down my selection, and ultimately choose my gown here. She also gave me inspiration for my bouquet and assisted me with picking my hair clips for me at my return appointment for pickup. I cannot recommend this place enough! I had a wonderful experience.
Although I didn't end up purchasing my dress at Madeleine's Daughter, I had an incredible experience! My stylist was Melissa and she was kind, upbeat, attentive, and really listened to everything that I was saying, liking, not liking, and looking for. She was not at all pushy or overbearing and made for a very enjoyable, stress-free experience for both myself and my family that was there with me at the appointment. I felt close to finding "the one" here but just couldn't commit and Melissa was completely understanding and helped to talk me through the decision making process and next steps. I really enjoyed the setup and process of Madeleine's Daughter as each bride and her entourage get their own personal space so you're not standing in the middle of the store getting unwanted input from people outside your crew & stylist. Overall it was truly a great experience and I would highly recommend anyone going wedding dress shopping to make an appointment at Madeleine's Daughter!
I was excited to shop for a wedding dress at MD after hearing of this place in the past. Formerly it was located in downtown Portsmouth, however, now located in a strip mall next to a Planet Fitness and Margaritas, the vibes were a little off walking in the door. The shop is pretty inside, but the experience I was seeking was far from what I got. My “stylist” Raeanne started off okay, pulled some dresses that were great options and asked me to give feedback in order to narrow in on what I was looking for. This went well at first, but she became short and obviously annoyed by my feedback. For me, trying on wedding dresses
was a special moment, especially with my mom and sisters by my side. She couldn’t answer specific questions about the dresses, acted inconvenienced by questions, and responded to every request with “well we do have options, but they’re out of your budget” which felt like a sales tactic to convince me to spend above my budget… which is not small by the way. The last dress I tried on was one that was “above my budget” but she said I could buy the sample dress that had been tried on by others for a lower cost. Upon entering the room with this dress, she dragged it on the floor, stepped on it with her boots, then let me try it on for 30 seconds before telling me to take it off so another person could try it on. We asked for just a few minutes to think which she would not allow. I understand there is a time limit to appointments, but there were no clocks in the room and I did not look at the time because I was in this moment of trying on wedding dresses for the first time! My family informed me later that they noticed the time and we left at 3:37 My 90 minute appointment started at 2pm so not that far off. The pictures that were taken of me show Raeanne looking at me in disgust in most of the dresses, in particular the last one which I loved. I have been trying to figure out what I did to make Raeanne so rude to me and my family, and as polite people the only thing I can think of is that we were taking too long. If time was the issue, I would have preferred she would have mentioned this and had a professional conversation which I would have been receptive to. Instead she was visibly frustrated and made me feel like an inconvenience. I did fall in love with a dress there but I would rather walk down the aisle in sweatpants than give my business to them.
It was amazing working with all the stylists at MD! I was able to get not only the best dress and veil for myself, by my mom got a beautiful one too! We also got some of our accessories there so it was a one stop shop which made it very convenient. I highly recommend MD!
Madeleine's Daughters was an amazing one stop shopping destinations. My stylist helped me pick out a beautiful dress and made shopping easy. We also went back to for suits for the groomsmen and they all looked fabulous day of the wedding.
Everyone we worked with at Madeleine's Daughter was absolutely amazing. They also make it very easy to make this your one-stop shopping destination. When picking out my dress, I worked with Ashley. She really paid attention to the inspiration list I had put together beforehand and made sure she pulled dresses that matched certain details I had mentioned. She clearly did an amazing job because I ended up picking the second dress I tried on. That's not where things stop either. The stylists make it very clear that they "come with your dress" so if you need anything between picking your dress and your special day, they are there for you. Ashley has since left MD but they made sure everyone she helped was taken care of by someone else. I got Melissa, who although I never formally met, was very helpful when I eventually had questions about dress preservation. When I had my finishing touches appointment to pick out my veil, I worked with Rachel. She really made it feel like I was shopping with a friend. We also shopped here for bridesmaid dresses and worked with Bailey. Bailey made this super easy and painless and we were in and out of there in no time with bridesmaid dresses that looked great on everyone and she helped make sure would complement my dress on the big day. Finally, for my husbands and bridal party tux's, we worked with Janine. Janine was truly amazing and so so helpful with everything for our guys. She helped us style the tuxes so my husband would somewhat match me, my bridesman would match my bridesmaids in a burgundy suit, and the groomsmen would be coordinated with both my husband and my groomsman. This could have been a difficult task when different tux and lapel colors are thrown into the mix, but she made it so easy. She was also very good at communicating with all the men about getting their measurements and assuring their tuxes fit how they should. We cannot say enough about Madeleine's Daughter and we are so happy we chose them to style our wedding.
I had an amazing experience with the stylists at Madeleine's Daughter Bridal and highly recommend them to anyone in the area! I could not have been any happier with my visits to the salon - everyone I interacted with was wonderful, and the women I worked with really listened to my vision, helped me explore a variety of options, and kept my budget top of mind as well. My dress was more perfect than I could've ever imagined (my husband's first-look reaction was priceless!), and I also really valued their team's assistance with my veil and hair accessory, which I'd been wavering on. By the time I went to MD, I'd already been to a few other salons, and each definitely has their own approach to dress selection, changing rooms, etc. Personally, I really liked MD's approach - I hated looking through racks of dresses, and much preferred having a stylist select the dresses that they thought would work best for my vision, body type, etc. Additionally, locker rooms and dorm life left me well-accustomed to changing in front of women, so I appreciated the efficiency of having my companions already in the room with me, so we didn't waste time tracking anyone down after I was dressed. Both of these were definitely pro's in my mind, but may be considerations for others looking for a different experience.
I was so happy with the process and the service I received at Madeline's Daughter. They make you feel like you are the only bride in the store that day. My stylist (shoutout to Sarah Rohde who was amazing) did such an incredible job capturing exactly what I wanted in a dress in her first pull. It was a magical experience.
Beautiful store with a wide variety of dresses. I worked with McKenzie and she was absolutely amazing. She was very conscious of my dress budget and never showed me anything I couldn't afford. I picked out a gown but wanted to change the color and a few details. McKenzie whipped out her phone and texted the designers to make sure that everything I wanted changed could be done. The whole thing was confirmed before I left that night.
I had an amazing time at Madeleine’s Daughter and found my dream dress! The experience might be different from what you’re used to. It’s a closed salon, meaning that the stylist pulls the dresses, you don’t pick them out on your own. You’re in a dressing room with your guests and you change from dress to dress in front of them and the stylist. I’m very comfortable with that sort of thing, but it’s something to keep in mind in case you’re not! Rachel was my stylist and I was so impressed with how she looked at my Pinterest before my appointment to understand my vision and vibe for the wedding. Every dress she pulled was inspired and gorgeous. She clearly has a lot of experience. She was so fun and knowledgeable, I can’t recommend her and MD enough!
Madeleine's Daughter very much exceeded my expectations. This was my second stop to look for a wedding gown (the first was a nightmare) and McKenzie knocked it out of the park. She was fast, efficient, and pulled dresses that were exactly what I was looking for. She made sure I was able to perfectly envision the dress on, and all of the ladies working there were very kind.
I wish I could give Madeline's Daughter zero stars. The staff are rude and pushy. The salon is sub par if you want to change in front of everyone and not see any gowns you want but have the stylist pick what they like. Their sales consultants lack knowledge and just want the sale. They were impossible with scheduling and availability and when I had a concern booked days magically became open and free? Had a much better experience at other stores!!
When I was a bridesmaid I came here with the rest of the bridal party (8 people) to purchase bridesmaids dresses. The attendant was very helpful and sweet, especially given that we weren't sure what we were looking for. She walked us through the pros and cons of different colors/fabrics and answered all of our questions, and brought us around the salon so we could see how the colors looked in different lighting. However, the measurements were very off and everyone in the bridal party ended up with dresses multiple sizes too large. I ended up paying more than the cost of the (very expensive) dress on alterations due to how large the dress was. If it had just been one or two dresses that were too large, or too large in a specific area, it would have been understandable, but every single dress was huge in all areas (i.e. it wasn't that we ordered a size up to accommodate for one larger part of the body, the entire dress was too big).
I just picked up my bridal gown from Madeline's Daughter. This place was BEAUTIFUL. It was so clean and nicely decorated. When I visited in august, my stylist Mckenzie was incredibly helpful. She worked with my style choices and budget to help me find my dream dress by enzoani. She provided honest feedback and worked quick. 6 months later, I was able to pick my dress up today. Ashley was so sweet and provided clear instructions on how to store my dress. I really loved this place and highly recommend!
An exceptional experience from start to finish. You feel as if you’re the only bride in the shop. Brianna LaCroix was excellent and instantly felt like a close friend and was just as excited for me as everyone I brought. She listened and matched my style to a T. The first dress she brought in ended up being the one! After trying on many other styles I went back to that first dress and said yes! It came in UNDER my budget to boot!! Thank you so much for a fabulous day and I can’t wait until my dream gown arrives in the Spring! If you’re looking for a private pampered experience with many dress selections- look no further.
A review below mentioned cramped room- 3 guests is perfect size for the room, I didn’t want them to see me changing in and out of gowns and Brianna immediately picked that up and had them wait outside the curtain until I was dressed. Very much appreciated!
My experience at Madeleine’s Daughter Bridal was nothing short of perfection. The salon is beautiful, very thoughtfully laid out and decorated tastefully. Additionally, their health/safety policies related to the pandemic are thorough but never felt over bearing, it certainly did not take away from the experience in the slightest. But I what I really want to speak to in this review is my stylist, Melissa. She was simply the best! I felt immediately at ease and almost as if she was just another girlfriend that came to shop with me - only a very knowledgeable one! She started me out with an array of styles/fits but we very quickly narrowed it down. She listened to every critique I had of a particular dress and the next one she would bring out consistently brought me one step closer to my dream dress. I was not prepared to find and purchase my gown during my very first appointment though was pleasantly surprised when I did and can honestly say this is largely thanks to Melissa!! I cannot recommend Madeleines Daughter Bridal and Melissa enough. xoxo.
Where to start... Madeleine's Daughter was amazing from day 1! I booked an appointment shortly after getting engaged for November 2021. I had spent about a month looking at dresses and designed by "wishlist". My consultant, Mackenzie, was so kind from the very beginning and noticed that I had NO idea what I wanted. In reality, I wanted a traditional classic dress, but wanted to try all the styles to be sure, and she was so kind and efficient in allowing me to do so. We didn't waste time in any dresses that weren't contenders and found the perfect dress in less than 5 dresses.
My mother, and MIL, both found their dress at Madeleine's as did all my maids and the groom and groomsmen tuxes. My mom came in with a picture and they were able to find the dress and she LOVED IT! My MIL and I then went at a later date, and found the perfect dress that went GREAT with our whole look. For the maids, we did the same color and designer but any style. Bailey was great in working with my girls to find them a dress they all felt and looked stunning in.
Tuxes were SO easy and fun! we found the perfect look for the guys.
Many of our family and bridal party was out of state to NH. Madeleine's was flexible with appointment times, pick up etc and the guys calling in their measurements making everything perfect.
If you have any bridal/wedding wardrobe needs, look no further. I also found the perfect jumpsuit for my bridal shower and hair piece!
Madeleine's daughter was the 2nd bridal shop I visited and ended up being where I purchased my dress. I couldn't have been happier! We worked with Jodi and she ended up pulling dresses that I wouldn't have ever thought to try on. And that's what I ended up in! They were extremely helpful from start to finish. If you're looking for a true customer experience, definitely go here.
Madeleine’s Daughter is amazing! Melissa was great to work with - she’s super sweet and helpful! My dress was beautifully made, and I really enjoyed the boutique shopping experience.
The set up of this store is different than others. You’re put in a dressing room with your guests, the consultant brings you dresses and you change in front of everyone. Normally this wouldn’t be that weird for friends/my sister but I had my young niece and future MIL with me. Our consultant offered blindfolds but I felt that was a weird thing to have my guests do. My consultant made a point to tell me she wouldn’t bring in anything over my budget to respect my needs, but then pulled multiple dresses well over my budget with features I specifically said I didn’t like and felt like it wasted time. I felt pressured to make a decision on the spot on a dress I liked because although the dresses she pulled for me were over budget they could offer 10% off I bought it that day and it would fall just under the my budget cap. I felt like that wasn’t a fair tactic to get me to spend money on a dress not in my budget. They have some really beautiful dresses but beware of the approach they have. I had a much more pleasant experience elsewhere.
MD Bridal employs the kindest individuals in the wedding industry (I swear!!!!). I recently got married at 6/11/22 and was SO stressed about finding a dress. I also have a unique family dynamic and wanted to ensure that all members of my bridal party would have a great time shopping with me for this special occasion. MD sends out a questionnaire prior to your visit, so they know what to expect and your budget before you even step into the shop for your appointment. When my group arrived, we were greeted and brought to our changing area (keep in mind, you will be changing in front of your group - I had no problem with this at all, but others may). My stylist, Rebecca, was THE BEST and immediately knew my vision for my wedding day. We found "the one" in under an hour and before I knew it she had me in a STUNNING veil as well that I bought! The store felt so inclusive and there was never any pressure to buy or go beyond my budget at all. Thank you thank you to the entire MD family for such a fantastic experience!!
My experience searching for and purchasing my wedding gown was an incredible and unforgettable experience! Melissa was the sweetest, most helpful, and most fun person to help me choose my dress! She made the experience easy (which I never thought I would say) and stress free with the system they had in place. I found my dress quicker than I ever would have imagined and was absolutely in love with it! My incredible experience with Madeleine’s Daughter continued through ordering my dress, picking it up, and now that I’m ready for the post wedding gown care! I would highly recommend based on my experience to absolutely everyone!
I had the best experience shopping for my wedding dress at Madeleine's Daughter- from the minute we walked in, our bridal consultant Rachel was so excited and made our whole group feel like we were the only clients in the store. I couldn't make up my mind at first so she brought one of my original dresses back in for me to try again and that sealed the deal. She truly made the experience so seamless and special for us, I can't thank her enough. Be sure to ask for Rachel when you book your appointment!
We got all our of wedding attire from Madeleine's Daughter. They were so helpful from the moment I went to try dresses on, to picking up the suits the day before the wedding. Every dress my stylist picked for me was amazing and something I could've totally seen myself wearing. They were always timely in reaching out regarding dress pick up and the measurement appointments for the guys. My mom's dress was delayed in shipping due to the designer and Madeleine's Daughter went out of their way to get us the shipping information so we could see when it finally arrived to the states. Highly recommend them for all your wedding party attire needs!
I was so grateful to have picked Madeleine's Daughter for my wedding gown shopping experience. Jodi was amazing from start to finish! She was so in tune with what I wanted or didn't want and quickly learned my quirks to bring me the perfect dress. I tried my dress on during my initial appointment and knew it was the one but couldn't quite say yes and Jodi was gracious and offered for me to come back in a few days to put it back on. I said yes and she was so genuinely happy for me! I highly recommend MD for bridal and Mother of the Bride's dresses - the experience is top notch!
My mom and I had the absolute best experience at Madeleine's Daughter! We met with AnneMarie to pick out a dress for my mom for my wedding and she was absolutely fantastic. Very patient, diligent, and just amazing to work with. My mom is very indecisive and it has been a challenge to find the right dress for her for the wedding. AnneMarie made the process enjoyable and we found the most perfect dress for my mom for my wedding. Cannot recommend AnneMarie and the shop in general enough!
I bought my wedding gown from Madeleine’s Daughter in February 2021 for my wedding in October 2021. I just wanted to thank the staff at Madeleine’s Daughter (I had McKenzie!) for helping me find the perfect dress! I knew I wanted lace and long sleeves, and McKenzie did all the rest! I did not feel pressured to buy a gown like I had at another boutique I went to, and the quality of the dress was amazing! McKenzie found me a dress that was exactly how I wanted to look on my wedding day and even helped me envision what adding sleeves to the dress would look like! McKenzie made a wonderful shopping experience for my mother, my mother-in-law, and me. When I went to pick up my dress, Renée was a great help and made me feel even more excited about picking up my dress! I got so many compliments on my dress. You will get a one-of-a-kind dress and experience if you go to Madeleine’s Daughter!
The only reason I didn’t give them 1 star is because they were nice and helpful in person, but that doesn’t make up for how awful they were.
They screwed up every single measurement so bad. Clearly nobody there knows how to measure. They just want your money. Don’t go. They screwed up everything they touched.
Then they assured one of the groomsmen that they would fix his vest and have it shipped to the wedding venue. Never came. When he called to check on it they said oh well we don’t have one in stock. Never told us. Just didn’t send it. We had to use elastics to keep his vest together. Then they texted my husband ON HIS WEDDING DAY saying there was a storm coming so he’d have to return all the tuxes a day early.
Brianna was the absolute best! I had already found a dress prior to this appointment and she was so helpful and understanding. She helped me by letting me try on so many different dresses and encouraged me even if that meant not getting a dress here. I highly recommend!
I bought my mother of the bride dress here and it was an outstanding experience. Marianne asked all the right questions and found the dress that was perfect for me. It’s a beautiful boutique right down to robes to wear while I waited for her to return with a lovely selection of gowns. It was a difficult choice for she really new her stuff. Thank you for your help.
I just got my wedding dress this weekend and it was a true “Say Yes to the Dress” experience. Rachel was my consultant and she could not been more helpful. She made my Mom and I feel comfortable right away and was clearly so knowledgeable in this field. She pulled dresses that I loved, worked well for my body type and had all the elements I was looking for. I did not feel rushed to pick my dress at all. She was also a great support in helping me narrow down my options and make the right choice. Smoothest process, really looking forward to continuing to work with them!
My husband got his suit and groomsman suits here, and it wasn't the smoothest process. They lost one of the groomsman's online measurements he sent it. The day before they were picking up the suits, bother fathers suits, were to short, the ushers were so long they had to be hemmed and they said their machine broke and had to hand stitch! They were very rude to as we had to wait, and our groomsmen that drove from out of state were a little late and said they weren't happy they were late, but then gave the groomsman the wrong suits to try on.
I've had great experiences with the women's side, but not the mens side.
Sadly, I did not have a good experience here. It was my first time trying on wedding dresses and lady who assisted me (Mackenzie) was super cold and the appointment was insanely rushed. She didn't even make small talk or ask me about the wedding, my fiance, or even try to make it seem like it wasn't all about the sale. It was strange. Also, the selection was limited. I expected my first experience to be positive because trying on dresses should be fun regardless if you find the right one - but it was not the case. If you're looking for warm fuzzies and great customer service while getting your money's worth, don't bother booking at this place.
Amazing selection of gowns.
Brianna is amazing
We used Madeleine's Daughter for my wedding gown and groomsman formalwear. Initially, I felt a little pushed into choosing a dress at my first appointment. However, upon my second appointment, Mackenzie, was patient, helpful, and accommodating. She helped me find the dress of my dreams within our budget! In regards to formalwear, the process for choosing tuxes was excellent! The process for fitting, picking up, and returning was slightly more stressful and less flexible. However, I suspect this is due to the increased number of weddings with COVID reschedules. It all worked out in the end and overall we had a good experience!
For fellow COVID conscious brides - unfortunately had a very negative experience here today. My future mother and sister in law came up from NY to join me and we made the long trip up to NH. Our salesperson was great, but when we learned she was unvaccinated we kindly asked if she would wear a mask when in the small room with us since we were seeing at risk family after. She refused, and then went to get her manager who came in (also unmasked) to tell us they can’t force their employees to mask (which of course we know! We were simply making a request given our comfort level!). We were sad that we had to leave without trying on any dresses, and surprised that the store didn’t seem to care at all about our comfort. The manager mentioned that if I had called ahead of time that they could have made sure our salesperson was willing to wear a mask, so consider doing that if you’re planning to go.
I came to Madeleine's Daughter after having two other appointments and not being able to find “the dress”. Ashley was my bridal consultant and she listened to exactly what I wanted and didn’t want. She was so patient and kind during the entire appointment and helped me found the dress of my dreams!! Ashley was truly amazing during the appointment; but it was after the appointment that blew me away. She wrote me a hand written note to “congratulate” me on finding the dress and stayed in touch with me until my dress came in. When it came in, she helped me put it on and complete my look! My mom had plans to make my veil but we didn’t know where to start; Ashley helped us pick out a veil that completed the dress (so that we could recreate it at home) and even mailed us a sample of the dress fabric so that we could bring it with us to the store to pick out a veil fabric to match. Ashley also helped me picked out bridesmaid’s dresses and helped my mom pick out a mother of the bride dress that made my mom look her very best. My mom has such a hard time finding dresses that she feels compliment her; again during her appointment, Ashley listened to exactly what she wanted and didn’t want and my mom has never looked more confident!! Ashley is truly amazing and I am so happy she was able to help me and my girls look our best on my wedding day!
Madeleine's Daughter has an incredible selection of dresses and more, but even MORE importantly, their stylists are so friendly, professional, and helpful, that I got my dress in my first, and only, appointment.
Madeleine’s was my first and last stop when shopping for my wedding gown and it was better than I ever could have imagined. From beginning to end, the staff at Madeleine’s is generous, kind and incredibly thoughtful all while helping you feel so beautiful in every gown. Melissa was an absolute dream to work with. She truly listened as I described what I knew I wanted/didn’t want and helped guide me through the process. It was so enjoyable, stress free and magical. Thank you for helping me feel so beautiful and for finding the dress of my dreams!
All my love
Cathy Francoeur
Melissa was AMAZING! The dress was the second thing that we got done for the wedding. First the venue and then the dress. I had a few things I thought I wanted in a dress and I’m not sure my dress ended up with those things but it was PERFECT. My dress was originally off the shoulder and Melissa help me fall in love with that first dress when we converted it to a strapless. It was simple and timeless. Melissa was so sweet, personable, and patient with me (I’m not great with decisions). But that was surely the right decision! Melissa and Madeleine’s Daughter staff has also helped 6 friends of mine find their dresses. I would highly recommend you buying your wedding dress here!
I am soo very happy that I went to Madeleine’s Daughter to shop (and find!) my wedding dress. I cannot say enough amazing things about my Stylist, Melissa.
From the very beginning, she made me feel comfortable and was truly interested in helping me find the perfect dress (even though I had NO idea what I wanted!). She had me try different styles and gauged my reaction better than even I could. She could tell when I felt awkward/uncomfortable but better yet, she could read into when I was feeling like my best! She asked all the right questions. I never once felt rushed or like I was just another person she had to help with a dress. She was so sweet and helpful and genuinely wants her clients to shine. A true professional (yet so down to earth too!).
I can be pretty indecisive but at the end of my appointment I had it down to 2 dresses. She didn’t rush me to make a decision. She encouraged me to think on it and email/call with any questions. We emailed back and forth and she got me all of the information I asked for and in doing so, helped me with my decision.
To be totally transparent, I had been to try on wedding dresses at different boutique prior to going to Madeleine’s Daughter, and at that particular spot, I felt rushed and pressured. It felt more like car shopping than wedding dress shopping. I left feeling overwhelmed, stressed and didn’t feel super great about myself - not how one should feel after trying wedding dresses on for the first time!
Madeleine’s Daughter was a breath of fresh air! I’ve already recommended several friends to Madeleine’s Daughter. I literally could not have had a better experience. Honored to be a #realmdbride !
I made an appointment well aware of their strict cancellation policy. The day before the appointment my doctor asked me to get a Covid test as I was feeling under the weather. I called the salon and they charged me $150 for cancelling despite a circumstance outside of my control. They said they would credit me if I was able to reschedule within 14 days- which living outside the state, I was not able to. The woman I spoke with mentioned something about working something out when I am able to reschedule which I have not been able to do. $150 is a hefty charge for a missed appointment in the middle of a pandemic. I found a dress elsewhere and ate the $150.
Prior to that the women were helpful and wonderful to work with. They helped me get set up with a stylist too before the appointment. I’m disappointed with being charged $150.
The entire staff at Madeleine’s Daughter was amazing. I worked with Jodi and the first dress that she pulled ended up being perfect! They were super flexible and worked with my work schedule in order for both my mother and future mother-in-law to come see it! Couldn’t have had a better experience.
We can all agree wedding planning has is challenges, then casually add in a global pandemic to make everything infinitely harder.
The entire staff at Madelines Daughter adapted beautiful to the curveball that 2020 was. They were delightful, insightful, and allowed me a break from a turbulent time to enjoy myself and refocus on what was important , love.
Because of COVID, I was fortunate enough to have many memorable events with MD.
I said yes to my first gown prior to quarantine. I went in being open minded but fully expecting not to find “the one.” Well lo and behold it only took McKenzie 5 dresses before I was in tears saying yes to my dress. She was a wonder.
Once quarantine hit, they rolled with the punches and did what they had to do in order to provide a safe but still special experience for their clients. I had a wonderful zoom meeting with all my bridesmaids. Melissa was a pure champ, showing us so many options I was unsure if they had any gowns left in the back room. She was so quick to follow up with an email reviewing our meeting and was on top of the entire process start to finish.
I was fortunate enough to work with Melissa and Rachel for our mother-of dresses. Both my mother and now mother in law looked stunning. The women were fantastic, taking our vision of the wedding, my dress, the bridesmaids dresses, and the men’s attire all into account to find a perfect blend for each.
As COVID continued, we had to make the difficult decision to postpone our large celebration (fingers crossed for Jan 2022) and switch gears to a must smaller, more intimate ceremony on our original date. After falling in love with my first gown, I decided I wanted to keep it special and save it for our 2022 wedding. I reached out to MD to see how far of a stretch it would be to find a second gown just a few months out. Without hesitation, Melissa responded reassuring me that they would make this happen. After looking through some of the options they have for same day purchase I was confident this team of wonder women would have a solution.
In what must be record time, maybe 3 dresses this time, I was back again in tears, saying yes to my second dress. Melissa was unbelievably knowledgeable, knowing what I was looking for, keeping the dress style similar but also different, and most importantly within my budget.
I can not express how great my experiences were here and I will continue to sing their praises and recommend everyone I know, and maybe even don’t know, to Madelines Daughter. Elizabeth has created a top tier boutique that continues to make so many brides dreams come true.
I’m so happy I found Madeline’s Daughter for both mine and my mother’s perfect dresses for my wedding day, as well as my veil. Absolutely perfect staff and space for trying on dresses. My attendant Alison was a dream and even gifted me a pair of earrings that matched my dress! We were thrilled to see her again when we went for my mother’s gown
Madeleine’s made me feel like the only bride in the store. I had the pleasure of working with Ashley to find my wedding dress and she was so professional, kind and understanding. From the very beginning, she listened to what I wanted and pulled amazing dresses for me to try on. I can’t believe how easy the whole process was! It was my first time shopping and Ashley made me feel comfortable and relaxed. She never pressured me into trying something on that I didn’t like. Even during a pandemic, Madeleine’s made the experience a truly memorable day for me and my guests. I cannot say enough about Ashley and the entire Madeleine’s team. Highly recommend to any bride-to-be!
From the moment we stepped into Madeleine’s daughter, they were friendly, helpful and also mindful of our current situation. I worked with Melissa and gave her a pretty wide range of styles I was interested in and the FIRST dress I tried on was the one! We tried more to see if we could find anything else, but I was so impressed how she took everything I nitpicked and used it to bring in new options. I would so highly recommend them! There was no pressure, just a relaxed, fun experience!
LOVE love love Madeleine's Daughter!! I bought my wedding dress here last year during their annual sample sale. The stylist was SO helpful and ultimately found the perfect dress! The sample sale was amazing, my dress was in perfect condition and I was able to take it home that day!
I can't imagine wedding dress shopping anywhere other than Madeleine's Daughter. I was lucky enough to be able to book an appointment mid-July and had just the BEST experience. Even before the appointment begins, they make you feel special by sending a video and personalized email. At the appointment itself, you are greeted by a friendly staff member in a beautiful space. My stylist, Melissa, was beyond incredible. She listened thoughtfully to my wedding dress vision, brought out a number of styles, and made me feel pampered throughout the experience. I never felt pressed to try on a dress I didn't like, show a dress I didn't want to, or anything else - at the same time, she didn't complain when I DID want to show my party almost every dress! When I did finally find The Dress, she seemed just as happy as I was! It was truly a magical experience for me, my mom, and my sister. Melissa has also been wonderfully helpful and responsive to any emails I've sent her after the fact, such as inquiring about recommended seamstresses. Turn to Madeleine's Daughter for a COVID-safe, personalized, incredible experience that will be a treasured part of your wedding memories.
I set up an appointment when bridal salons were able to open after State restrictions were lifted from the pandemic.
In order to not going to a billion bridal shops I really wanted to go to this bridal shop. However they were charging people $150 to keep their appointments. If you did not purchase a gown from that day or within 14 you forfeited the $150 deposit.
I was supposed to go dress shopping right before the State shut down and unfortunately lost two months of time to looks for a dress. Which gave me a short window of time to look.
I was completely offended that they were going to use this as a way to make it worth it for them to get people in the door. I hope this was the opposite outcome. I will never buy from this company due to this disgusting advantage they had on people during a very scary time. I would never recommend anyone to go to them.
I LOVE Madeleine's Daughter and a special thank you to my bridal stylist, Ashley, who made the whole process FUN and easy! I picked my dream gown out on my very first appointment and I always looked forward to any future appointments after that. Ashley listened, pay attention to what I liked (even when I wasn't sure what I did and did not like) and guided me to my dream dress within an hour or so. It was an enjoyable experience that I will never forget. My mom and MIL bought their dresses at MD too which was great and we even got my nephew a suit rental from the formal shop at MD. Shannon at the formal shop was so helpful too and accommodating to my nieces and nephew (all under age 6). If you are looking for your wedding gown and want a great experience, I 10/10 suggest you go to MD! You won't be disappointed!
I cannot thank McKenzie at MD enough. This was my 5th bridal appointment—I guess I saved the best for last! At the other shops I visited, based on my petite size and frame, the stylists kept putting me in the same style dresses that I was not loving. They’d end the appointment with a hard sell, putting me on the spot to say yes to the dress (kind of like experiences I’ve had at used car lots). From the moment I met McKenzie, my experience was all around superior. She listened. She knew her stuff. And most of all, she didn’t put any pressure on me to make a decision. She actually said she’d give my mom, my sister, and I some privacy to talk things over. I SO appreciated this as this is not an easy decision to come to. From the selection in the store, to how well they care for the samples you’re trying on (putting material under the clips before securing, giving you under garments to wear, etc), and the incredible staff, I will tell every bride in the Boston area to make the trip to Portsmouth. You will not be disappointed.
Although I didn't end up purchasing my dress with Madeleine's Daughter, I'd still recommend them 100%!
I was fortunate to work with Ashley during my initial appointment. I had found a dress that was a high contender at another vendor, but was still on the hunt. Ashley heard all of my requests and found one that was equally as beautiful. After our appointment, she worked tirelessly to get the dress from the other vendor in house so I could try both on back to back. In the end, she wasn't able to get it in, but could order it for me if I decided to get that one and recommended I make back-to-back appointments to try both one last time. My plan was to order the dress through Ashley regardless because she had gone above and beyond, but accidentally said yes when I had the first dress on again. Thankfully, I got to work with Ashley again for my best friend's wedding.
If you are looking for A+ customer service and a calm wedding dress shopping experience, go see Ashley at Madeleine's Daughter!
Madeleine’s Daughter makes wedding dress shopping a breeze! McKenzie did a great job of picking out the wedding dresses that matched my vision and even presented me with some I wouldn’t have considered (I ended up picking one of these!). The free suit for your husband (plus 10% off on bridesmaids dresses, mother of the bride/groom dresses, and groomsmen suits) is a great perk too!
I had a great experience shopping for my wedding gown with Ashley at Madeleine's Daughter. I am not much of a shopper so I knew the dress wouldn't be my favorite part of the process - but it ended up being a very enjoyable experience! Ashley had me try on different shades and styles to get a baseline of what I liked/looked good on me and I narrowed it down to my top 3 dresses. My second appointment I tried on a few more, but ended up going with my top dress from my first appointment in a different color choice and ordered the dress 4 inches shorter (I am very petite). Being able to just try on dresses and not sort through racks really allows you to trust the pros and just focus on the look and feel of the dress. Especially if you are not much of a shopper like myself, I think you will really enjoy the process with MD!
SO many professional, friendly, and helpful staff members to thank! Every person I spoke to or emailed was very efficient and knowledgeable. I requested (multiple times) multiple fabric samples so that my bridesmaids could match certain colors to the best of their ability, and each time the samples were sent to my house in a timely manner and were well labeled. Patient, passionate, and caring staff, they are good at what they do!
Everyone said that I should go to Madeleine's Daughter for my wedding gown and they were right. Alison was so fun, upbeat, and didn't pressure me into deciding on a gown right away. I tried on a variety of wedding gowns that Alison pulled for me based on my very vague ideas and the last one was perfect. She showed me the possibilities of adding straps to a strapless dress and helped me through the ordering process. The dress arrived with plenty of time for alterations and the seamstress list that Alison provided lead me to the perfect seamstress. I cannot say enough about Madeleine's Daughter - just a great experience from start to finish!
If you want a personalized bridal appointment, DO NOT GO HERE. You are put in a room with your entourage and have to change in front of them. There is no big reveal and in my opinion, it kind of ruins the moment. I feel like my consultant didn’t really listen to me and didn’t really try to sell me a dress... I made more suggestions of what I thought she should pull then she did. Needless to say, I will be going somewhere else with a more personalized, intimated experience.
Waste of time, left feeling very poor about myself and regret going....Madelines Daughter was the third bridal salon I visited. By this point I had a good idea of the type of dress I was looking for and tried to accurately describe that dress type to the woman assigned to work with me and my group. Their setup is very odd as you're not allowed to browse the dresses. My assistant only brought one dress at a time and after telling my group that they had the largest dress selection in new england explained to me after only a few dresses they no longer had deep v-neck dresses. They were PAINFULLY slow bringing out dresses, compared to the other shops I visited I tried on many more dresses that I was very excited about, it really felt like she wasn't listening to us on what we were asking for.
It is also their responsibility to know the dresses and not create a bad set-up aka if the sample dress is significantly smaller then the woman it's probably best not to try to squeeze something impossible on. She ended up slipping me in a dress waaayy to small and we spent what felt like 10 minutes trying to get it past my hips/thighs only to get it stuck on. afterwards she goes well we can drape it around your neck so you can see! I'm sorry I'm not buying a dress that I can only view hanging from my neck. Really set a bad tone, and it was difficult to focus on the dresses with a woman who wasn't helpful (she barley secured them after putting them on, didn't fix the bottoms, work with different options). Other shops were very helpful about showing different belts / accessories to complete the picture. She didn't even bring out a veil/only brought out one belt after asking and said they didn't really have any others.
My mother drove up 6 hours for this weekend of dress shopping and I really regret wasting my time here given that we only had limited time.
Maybe my associate was new but her poor communication and lack of focus to detail and my needs damaged what should have been a good ending to the day.
This was my first stop wedding dress shopping. Very professional environment and good selection of dresses. I worked with Melissa and she was amazing! So helpful and made the experience a blast. Unfortunately I did not find the dress here, but felt my experience with Melissa was so memorable! I definitely recommend Madeline’s to anyone looking for the full bridal shopping experience.
I LOVED my gown and Ashley was superb - she was accommodating and absolutely wonderful to work with! It took 5 dresses to find the right one - which was a perfect number for me; I saw enough variety to know that I made the right decision! I loved my dress shopping experience so much that I went back with my bridesmaids to look for their dresses there first thing. I treated the girls to the champagne appointment and we were able to find a gown that flattered every girl! Since the experience turned out so reliable, my mom went back again for her gown and we ultimately went through their tux department for the groom and groomsmen as well! I would definitely go back and do it all over again!
Lovely salon, and expert staff who listen to your wishes, but also take a risk showing styles you may not have thought of before. Brandi found my dream dress, something I will cherish forever. She only gave me 3 to try on and we won in 2!
Brandie was AMAZING in helping me pick my dream dress and veil - nothing short of perfection!
I’ll start from my very first interaction with them-my confirmation email three days prior. After I confirmed,I had emailed the girl and expressed some concerns I had about coming in. I explained that I had gone wedding dress shopping once before and the stylist I had at a different Salon had a very had time listening to me that my fiancé is a female and she was my future wife, time after time no matter how many times I said “wife” my stylist ignored me and kept referring to my husband. When I emailed with Madeline’s,I explained that it sort of threw off my whole experience at the other salon and made me feel like I wasn’t being heard or really cared for. She emailed me back immediately and apologized for people and explained that it was the opposite of how they are at the salon. Comes to find out, when I went in three days later, she had explained my concerns to my stylist and she off the bat asked about my fiancé’s dress etc-i really appreciated this little bit of detail, made me felt heard before even trying on a dress. I bought my wedding dress from Madeline’s yesterday and it was such an amazing experience. I was super nervous walking into my appointment, but my stylist Brandie took her time(almost 2.5 hours!) and helped me find the most perfect dress. I had told her that I had recently lost a pretty significant amount of weight and I was having a hard time seeing myself in a small size, and she went above and beyond to make sure I felt beautiful. She didn’t once try to push me out of my budget or limit my options. She told us upfront she wouldn’t bring anything outside the price point so I wouldn’t fall in love with something that was beyond that price-and she stuck by that! She heard my thoughts on what i was thinking of and helped me into a million dresses until she helped me jump outside of the comfort zone i was stuck in and we found THE ONE because of Brandie. She not only used her expertise(which was like 12 years+ of just bridal!), but she looked at pictures I had saved and scrolled through Instagram with me. She even explained some of the dresses I thought I loved and their drawbacks and brought me some alternatives. I never felt like i was being rushed,my stylist was literally all mine and she made sure of it. It was literally such an amazing experience and i couldn’t have asked for a better time if i wanted too. It was such a great experience, my fiancé will most likely buy her wedding dress there and our bridesmaids! Thank you Madeline’s,you truly made my wedding dress shopping experience perfect and easy.
BUYER BEWARE! In March 2019, I went to Madeline's Daughter for Bridesmaid dress shopping. We decided on a dress, and were all measured there by our stylist. Through the process they suggested a dress size based on their sizing chart; I was told the size I ordered was to my largest measurement, however was never shown the chart. Fast forward to July 2019-- I receive my dress and it does not fit. I then check my measurements from my bill and the incorrect size was suggested by my stylist, and I should have been one size larger.
I called the store and immediately drove the 1.5 hours there per their request. They were able to get it zippered, but it was extremely tight and the back bunched up due to the improper sizing, I voiced my concerns and they mentioned it is fixable through alterations. At this point, I am upset at the fact I paid $275 for a dress that does not fit, and head out to go to a tailor to figure out alterations. I got it priced out and called Madeline's Daughter to kindly asked them to consider paying for the alteration costs associated with the dress being the incorrect size (and not associated with hemming, etc.), to which they declined.
Throughout the process they did offer me a size 18 that could be delivered to the store 2 weeks before the wedding; although an alternative, this is still not the correct size that should have been ordered in the first place and would need considerable alterations to fit, not even considering the alteration timeframe concern. They also offered for me to take the 1.5 hour drive to Portsmouth (again!) so I could get a $25 discount on their alteration costs. Although these are kind offerings, neither in my mind were an acceptable solution to the issue.
Although they were respondent throughout the process, I was made to feel like I did something wrong and this was my fault. This added stress could be easily avoided, and I would strongly suggest any bride or bridesmaid to look elsewhere!
Being a bride that’s not the perfect petite size, I was a little worried about dress shopping. My worries quickly went away when I walked into the store and met with Erika. Erika was so attentive, kind, caring and made this process SO easy. She helped me find a gorgeous gown and even personalized my look with a beautifully unique belt! I also went with my bridesmaids to pick out their dresses there and that entire process was so fast and easy-all of my girls were so happy with their choices and moved the stylists!! I’ve recommended them to every bride I know, and I will continue to do so!!
Ohhhh lord did I try on a lot of gowns.... I had been to 8 other salons prior to trying Madeleine's Daughter. I almost didn't go at all.... I was so sick of the search. I was ready to just go with a gown that I *thought* I loved at a different salon - just to be done with it. I hadn't had the teary eyed moment of "this is me as a bride!" and just thought it wasn't going to happen that way for me. A coworker suggested I go to MD just to give it one last shot. And I am eternally grateful I did. The gown selection is outstanding. The salon itself is beautiful. And the staff are among the most accommodating in the industry - knowledgeable, professional, never pushy, never sales'y... they make you feel like you are Queen for a day - let me tell you. I had my "yes to the dress" moment, tears and all. The gown I chose (a showstopping Maggie Sottero) was literally everything I ever dreamt it would be - it was THE gown I had always had in my head from the time I was a little girl. I even bought my wedding jewelry at MD - earrings and the daintiest most gorgeous headpiece. When I picked up my gown - which came in within weeks of ordering it - they sent me home with a pair of fresh water pearl earrings.... their little "gift" to each MD bride. My now husband and his groomsmen also went to MD to rent their suits - my hubby's was free and the groomsmens were 10% off. I simply could not be happier with Madeleine's Daughter. Make an appointment. You will NOT regret it.
And my love,
Sarah Higgins (Corbin)
I visited three wedding dress shops trying to find the right dress. By far Madeleine's was the best experience by far - great selection, attentive service and a nice relaxed environment to find the perfect wedding dress.
The ladies at Madeleine's Daughter helped to make my dress shopping experience fabulous! Many girls have a picture of what their dream wedding dress would look like, however, I was not one of those girls. I was scared that everything would look bad on me and that I would become discouraged. I filled out the Madeleine’s Daughter questionnaire prior to my initial visit, I was a little hard on myself: my problem areas are between my knees and neck and I need long sleeves for a June wedding 😂. Brandie Kramer took a look at my answers, took a look at me, verbally asked me some follow up questions, and then brought six dresses into the dressing room. I ended up falling in love with the first dress I tried on, and actually wore it on June 15th at my New England Aquarium wedding! Brandie, thank you for finding the perfect dress I never knew I wanted! It aligned perfectly with my whimsical under the sea theme. Brandie was also available to help assist all of my bridesmaids with their dresses. I reserved the cute bridesmaid suite and we had bottomless champagne to help make the experience a memory rather than a chore. If you are still looking for a dress, do yourself a favor and go visit Madeleine's Daughter!
BEWARE!
I went to Madeleine's for my wedding dress, 3 bridesmaids dress, and 5 groomsmen's tuxedos. Everything went VERY well with dress shopping, and the fitting experience was top notch! Kristin was sensitive to insecurities, understanding and very well knowledgeable about the dresses they had i
