The Magnolia Hotel is a historic wedding venue located in Houston, TX. This 23-story building dates back to 1926, and was formerly the home of the Post Dispatch Building. It reopened as a modern boutique hotel in 2003 after a thorough renovation, while retaining its signature charm and elegance. The property is partnered with Marriott Hotels, coupling the benefits of the hotel group with the individuality of a boutique hotel. This venue is conveniently located near Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston.
Host your ceremony and reception in the sophisticated Magnolia Ballroom. The ballroom's neutral color palette allows couples to transform the space with flowers, decor, and colorful lighting. Up to 300 guests can be seated in the ballroom for a ceremony and 150 for reception. A more casual space, perfect for catching up with loved ones, is offered in the Magnolia Lounge. It has roughly 6,000 square feet of space that can accommodate up to 200 guests. In the Sterling Ballroom, floor-to-ceiling windows will allow you to immerse yourself in the buzz of the city. It can accommodate up to 120 guests.
At The Magnolia Hotel, you'll get to work closely with the in-house events director, Kiana White. She'll be on hand to help you make your wedding dreams a reality, whatever your vision might be. Design a signature menu for your rehearsal dinner and wedding reception by working closely with the executive chefs. The artisanal creations will delight even the most discerning of tastebuds.

We found the Magnolia Hotel by accident—the luckiest accident of our entire wedding planning process! Here’s what we loved about this space: (1) The interior decoration is elegantly modern, neither overly ornate nor austerely simple, but a perfect balance of the two with neutral colors that would make a great backdrop for just about any wedding palette. (2) The accommodations were lovely for our guests, and the suite provided for weddings is palatial—plenty of natural lighting, room to spread out, and a great backdrop for getting ready photography. (3) The space is well designed to create a smooth flow for the event, moving seamlessly from a ballroom ceremony to a cocktail hour space, then down a beautiful floating staircase directly onto the reception dance floor (could not be better for a grand entrance). Also, dinner tables wrap around the dance floor, so there are very few seats with obstructed views, and two quieter spaces right off the main reception area provide space for guests to take a break, have fun with a photo booth, et cetera. Equally indispensable to our experience were the excellent Magnolia team members who helped make our wedding everything we’d hoped for, especially Kiana, the catering sales manager, and Antonio, the executive chef. Kiana was enthusiastically invested in our wedding from day one, patiently answering all our questions—and we asked a lot of questions!—to make sure we understood everything and had the wedding we wanted. Antonio has achieved an exquisite special event menu that manages to offer delicious options (our guests loved their food) without being exorbitantly expensive, and his attention to detail in presentation is truly impressive. Furthermore, the rest of the staff—front desk, housekeeping, valet—were all attentive and friendly. We’re so happy we had our wedding here!

What a perfect experience! Kiana was especially helpful with all of our questions. We had a lot of family and friends traveling from out of town for the wedding, so we decided to look for a hotel that could do it all. They did it all - we had our bar / alcohol, catering, and reception venue plus Room Block all at the Magnolia Hotel. We received so many compliments from guests and enjoyed the planning steps with Magnolia staff so much. I would highly recommend!

I loved having our wedding ceremony and reception at the Magnolia Hotel! We had the ceremony in a conference room and then the reception just one floor down in an open space near the bar. We also had a bridal luncheon at the hotel the day before the wedding. The guests absolutely loved staying at the hotel and having everything all in one place. Part of the package included my day of coordinator, Shaun Gray, and he was INCREDIBLE. He was quick to respond, dependable, and highly organized. I loved having him by my side throughout my wedding day. The Magnolia also included letting us stay in the presidential suite, which was big enough for all of the bridesmaids to get their hair and makeup done the day of the wedding. We took pictures on the rooftop, in the presidential suite, and on the street in front of the hotel and they turned out beautiful. I highly recommend having your wedding at the Magnolia Hotel!

This was a perfect venue for the cocktail hour and dinner/dancing for our daughter's wedding. They have a beautiful Presidential Suite for the bridal party, very nice full kitchen suites for families, a cool billiard's room for the groom's party, the food was delicious, and the venue coordinator, Kiana was the BEST. She answered all of our ongoing questions (and there were alot) with professionalism and insight regarding our needs or concerns. She allowed us to bring in reception items two days in advance and stored them for us! She worked very hard to make sure we were satisfied with all aspects and worked well with our day of coordinator. Cocktail hour was on one floor and there is a beautiful staircase for the bridal party to make their grand entrance into the reception. It can hold 200 people with room for a dance floor if you have a DJ. We had an amazing 9 piece band, room for dancing and 180 people. It is located near other hotels and cool dining/bar experiences. All staff were professional and pleasant including the valet parking. Everyone commented on the "cool" venue and the delicious food! We had several people comment on this being one of the best weddings they had attended and no doubt the venue played a role. We toured 5 downtown Houston locations and decided on The Magnolia Hotel and are so very thankful we did!!

Andy was so incredibly amazing throughout our planning process. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and happy. Everything was absolutely beautiful and perfect. He exceeded every single expectation and we couldn’t have done it without him. He brought our dreams to life and eased my anxiety and worries throughout the process. The hotel staff was amazing. Francisco was also super easy to work with. There are no words to show our appreciation except thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our most important day perfect.

I saw Magnolia Hotel in a wedding magazine and called the hotel because my daughter was getting married. I talked to Kiana on the phone, and she set up a walk through of the venue. From that phone call, I knew Magnolia Hotel had great hospitality.
Magnolia Hotel is the best place to have an event! My daughter had her wedding ceremony and reception at Magnolia Hotel, and we loved everything about it. The service was the absolute best!
Andy did an excellent job. He worked very close with me and my daughter to make this the safest wedding possible in a pandemic. He is so friendly and has the best customer service. Everything we asked for, Andy worked with us to make sure it happened! His team is amazing too. Francisco was so nice and friendly. He helped make sure the vision came to life.
Chef Antonio is a top chef in Houston! Every single dish on the buffet looked like a piece of art. It was beautiful and tasted delicious. Chef helped me with the Persian Wedding Ceremony, and I really want to thank him for his hard work.
As the Mother of the Bride, I highly recommend Magnolia Hotel. Everything was perfect!

Wow, just wow! From our first walkthrough of Magnolia Hotel Houston, the customer service was excellent. All staff members were warm, welcoming and inviting. We knew this was the perfect location for our wedding. Fast forward a few months and the global pandemic hit. We really struggled with the idea of a massive downsize, but Magnolia Hotel was on the exact same page as us. The staff was truly outstanding for their accommodations and support. We had a significant downsize from our original wedding plan, but Andy and his team were phenomenal. The wedding would not have been possible without Andy!
The food was AMAZING. Our guests could not believe that the food was from Magnolia Hotel. Everyone thought we catered from a Middle Eastern restaurant, but Chef Antonio outdid himself. The Mediterranean buffet was absolutely delicious! So many of our guests went for seconds, and a few of them asked to take food home with them!
If you are planning an event, big or small, I highly recommend holding your event at Magnolia Hotel! You will not be disappointed!

We were very pleased with our wedding reception at The Magnolia. Kiana and her team did a wonderful job of keeping everything on time and running smoothly despite a delay with our ceremony at another location. The food was absolutely delicious, and we received so many compliments on the meals. We loved the elegant and cozy feel of the Lounge, and especially appreciated having an extra room - the Library - for our large group of children to relax and play in as well as all of the accommodations of the hotel from complimentary decor to a complimentary two night stay in a suite which was perfect for me and my bridal party to get ready in. Best venue ever! Kiana is so fabulous and helpful, she made the entire planning process easier. We joke "she doesn't say no to anything!" The hotel itself is beautiful and clean, making it a great place for your guests to stay. All the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious! Can not recommend enough for ceremony, reception, or both!

We had our wedding reception at the Magnolia Hotel and it was nothing less than perfect. Kiana did an incredible job working with us through the entire process. She was so helpful and friendly and we cannot thank her enough for going above and beyond. Everything ran smoothly, from the delicious dinner to the send off. The amount of compliments from family and friends about our wedding venue was overwhelming. We would definitely highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Thank you so much to Kiana and the Magnolia Team! Because of them we now have wonderful memories that will last us a lifetime.

Working with The Magnolia was a dream. Our wedding guests told us over and over how wonderful their experience was and what else could we ask for?! The team of Kiana and Theresa handled dozens of phone calls and emails from me and our guests and were nothing but accommodating. They went above and beyond to make our wedding the perfect experience.

We toured the Magnolia for a summer 2018 wedding, and while we ultimately went with a different venue for our ceremony and reception, I was so impressed with what I saw here. Kiana was so helpful and informative about what they had to offer, and she was incredibly relatable. She really made this nervous bride feel comfortable! Any Houston brides looking for a downtown venue should really check out the Magnolia!

We had our reception here on April 23,2016. Magnolia Hotel and the coordinators I worked with made the whole evening flawless and worry-free! I had a vision in mind and they worked with all my vendors to execute it perfectly. We had 200 guests, so they transformed the 2nd floor lounge into the reception area. From floor plans, table numbers, food displays, and the schedule of the entire day, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We were worried because all guests have to valet park since the hotel is in the heart of downtown. It didn't seem to be an issue at all.

My wedding block was held here. They treated me like royalty even though we weren't actually holding the wedding there. My vendors were well taken care of with parking & accommodations. I would recommend this stylish boutique hotel of Houston to anyone looking for a room block. Not only was Kiana incredibly responsive, she was also very kind & took her time with my mom & I to answer all the questions we had. Thank y'all so much for giving me such a beautiful room to get ready in & hang out with all my girlfriends & family. Thank you!

We selected Magnolia Hotel for our wedding and reception, because most of our guests were from out-of-town and we wanted a venue that would be fun, relaxing and convenient for us and our guests. We loved our event and our guests loved staying at the hotel. The event went off without a hitch, their in-house coordinators were right there keeping things organized and it was all so nice and professional. Our cocktail hour and food was amazing, the venue has a good flow and over and over again people told us that it was one of the best weddings they had ever attended. Our guests loved the free breakfast, happy hour and cookie bar. I caught my mother, aunt and cousin playing cards in the library, so they all made themselves at home. The downtown shuttle was a bonus for our guests to use and the availability of plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel worked very well. All in all we were very pleased with the experience from the time we toured and booked all the way through the tasting and the actual event. Our wedding date was 11/21/2015.

The Magnolia was a fantastic place to host our wedding reception and our guests. We booked the 2nd floor lounge and loved the open flow of the space and the staircase (which we used for our bridal party entrance). The billiard room off behind the bar was a nice feature, as some of the teenagers and bridal party set up in there during the reception. We used the “library” for the photo booth which worked out perfectly.
Lauren Miller was extremely pleasant and professional to work with, promptly answering all our questions and emails. She kept everything moving at the reception, and there was never a lull in service. We booked a buffet dinner and the food was excellent; I had many compliments from our guests on how good the food was. Dino the catering manager was fantastic to work with during planning, and made us custom jalapeno-infused vodka that our guests continue to rave about.
Two nights before the wedding, the groomsmen booked a conference room for them to hang out, and the hotel was extremely accommodating and set the room up to meet their needs.
The guest rooms are lovely, and our guests enjoyed the free breakfast and the cookies/milk happy hour every night. The room rate they offer for the room block is extremely competitive for a downtown hotel; I do wish I was able to extend the negotiated weekend rate for all my family and wedding party that came in early, although they did offer a discounted rate for those guests. One hitch; the person handling the room block was not quite at the level of the rest of the people we worked with – the online portal never matched the list they had, so it was difficult to track our room block.
The Magnolia does a lot of weddings and they are excellent at it. I never felt we were just a number – we received very personal service from Dino and Lauren. My wedding reception was lovely, and I'm so glad we chose the Magnolia.

I had my reception at the Magnolia in the 2nd floor lounge and it was beautiful. From the very beginning, Lauren was extremely helpful. She not only made sure we got the wedding date we needed, but helped us in every step of the process from booking rooms to choosing food to making sure we were contacting the right people. She even helped with vendor suggestions. I was worried about parking for the weekend of, but the valet and the front desk were very willing to work with us. There was even another event happening the same night as the wedding, but I felt like they were focused on me completely. The ONLY downside is that we didn't get to stay and relax at the hotel a few more nights because we had to get back to work. I would recommend the Magnolia to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

The Magnolia Hotel was the perfect venue for our wedding weekend! We had many guests come from out of town, so we needed a hotel where we could all stay as well as have the ceremony and reception. Not only were hotel staff professional and attentive to us the entire weekend with special touches, but we received many compliments from our guests about the service also. Kristina was our catering manager and she could not have been more helpful - she answered my many questions patiently and organized every detail perfectly. A pleasure to work with. And the food here is fantastic, which was very important to us. I would certainly recommend this venue to other brides AND guests looking for a place to stay in Houston.

This was the best experience Ever. Kristina B. and her staff were amazing! They made sure everything was perfect, adapted to our changes and were very knowledgeable! THey helped in everyway possible, and are some of the nicest people you will ever come across. Everyone is still talking about the food, the ambiance, and the drinks!!! Love this place! I'll definetly be thinking up more evernts to have here!

I selected the Sterling Ballroom for my wedding ceremony and reception in April 2013. The floor to ceiling windows were a fantastic feature that really showcased the downtown urban feel I was going for. Not only was the space gorgeous (check out their pictures!!) the food was superb, the bar was well stocked, and the service was above and beyond. I didn't have to worry about one thing on the day of my wedding....which was super important to me. Kristina, the catering manager, was there from booking the venue to the end of dinner service to ensure the event was stress free. The have a ton of perks like free linens, candlelight centerpieces, a suite for my husband and I.....how can you go wrong here? If you are looking for an inclusive venue that allows you to bring in your own vendors and doesn't break the bank...look no further than The Magnolia!

I had my wedding here on June 9 and everything was perfect! Kristina became our coordinator after the previous coordinator had moved to another position. She picked up right were we had left off and was very knowledagable about everything. Even on the day of the event, she was able to make some changes to some of my minor concerns.

My wedding reception was held at the Magnolia Hotel in Houston, TX. The special events coordinator was so accommodating and made this a wonderful experience. I would definitely refer the Magnolia Hotel to anyone who wants a hassle free absolutely beautiful wedding reception venue!

I love love love the Magnolia Hotel! From the moment you walk in you just feel like you're in a movie. It's just so elegant and completely my style. We had our reception on the second floor in the lounge and it was just so perfect. I didn't want a traditional ballroom and the lounge was everything I envisioned my wedding reception would be. The staircase in the room is so beautiful and being able to walk down it was such a great way to make our entrance. Our guests had nothing but great things to say not only about the reception but about their accommodations. The rooms are so spacious and so pretty. Don't let the exterior of this downtown hotel fool you, it's an amazing hotel and I highly recommend it!

The guests that stayed at The Magnolia raved about the hotel!! They said it was a perfect distance from the venue, etc! They enjoyed it being in downtown so they could walk to different places. They enjoyed the bar in the hotel and the nice restaurant.

We had our ceremony and reception here and had a wonderful time. It was great for out of town guests because everything was in one location. The ballroom has great lighting and a gorgeous backdrop. Plus, the rooftop in the pool area has amazing views of Downtown Houston for photo ops.
The only disappointments were some of the customer service issues we encountered with valet staff and the front desk.
Overall, I enjoyed the venue and our guests had a great time.

loved the venue. if you use the club room, you have a very cool open space. there's great art work all around to give it a cool, unconventional feel. the food was great. staff was helpful/nice.

We used the Magnolia Hotel as our reception location because I really liked the whole decor and style of the hotel. It is trendy and modern, a place that seemed like we could throw a great party. I was really happy with everything. The coordinator, Claudia, was very helpful, we had a lot of compliments on how great the food was, plus we definitely enjoyed our complimentary presidential suite for the night as newlyweds! The only thing I can complain about it that the bar ran out of some of the liquor that we paid for about 45 minutes before the event was over and they tried serving Scotch out of a Crown Royal bottle and thought no one would notice! Also, I heard from some of my guests that during the cocktail hour the lines at the bar were ridiculous and they never served passed wine as they were supposed to.

I don't even know where to start. First, the service was AWFUL. I understand that I only had my ceremony at the hotel, and that there was another much larger, much more extravagant wedding after mine. But the vendors were setting up for the next wedding before my ceremony. Since the coordinator for the hotel was no where in site, my coordinator had to tell the vendors 3 times to move their flowers since they were encroaching into my ballroom. My coordinator also had to ask 3 times for valet validation stickers. In the end, the hotel had to print out 2 sets. We still have no idea where the first set is, and whether or not guests from other functions were using my validation stickers. Second, I did not see or hear from the hotel coordinator at all the entire day. She did not call. She did not drop by the room to see how things were going. The service was AWFUL. I felt like the hotel would not work with me at all.
Unless you are the big ticket for the evening, I would not even consider having your wedding here.

This review is for the Magnolia Hotel in Houston. I would give 5 stars for the venue. Beautiful place. They have a ballroom, but we didn't use it. We got married in a church, used the third floor for the cocktail hour and then guests came down to the second floor for the reception. I loved and I'm sure all the guests appreciated that there was an actual bar and not a bar setup there. I don't think anyone had to wait for drinks. We had a 10 person band and the dance floor they provided, plus 210 guests all fit on the 2nd floor. We got reduced rates for our guests and they gave us a free night's stay at the hotel. Food was great (one of the things we really looked for in a venue) and reasonably priced for wedding food. As for the service, I'd give 3 stars because of the catering manager. Not sure who the catering manager is now, but at the time we were planning our wedding, her name was Claudia and she made things more difficult than they had to be---sooo glad we had a wedding coordinator to deal with that. She was really unorganized and would say one thing, but it would be written differently in our contract. We had to revise SEVERAL times to finally get in writing what she agreed to. They were very accommodating though so I'll give them that! Above all, I'm very happy we went with the Magnolia Hotel for our wedding reception.

I really enjoyed this hotel for our reception site. Our hotel event coordinator did the job well, but without any enthusiasm.
Everything else went smoothly and was beautiful. The hotel is beautiful by itself, so it does not need a lot of decoration.
If you can, stay in the Presidential suite for free. Its AMAZING.
