Beautiful venue, staff allowed us to view several times, flexible with us
Hands down the most beautiful wedding venue, even more gorgeous in person! We couldn’t be happier with everything magnolia had to offer!
We had the most perfect wedding with family and friends at the piazza house! Everyone was so wonderful to work with and very friendly! Highly recommend!
Any questions?
I paid $5000 for a Sunday wedding in July. Magnolia Plantation and Gardens offered a breathtakingly beautiful and romantic setting for our wedding at the Carriage House. The lush gardens and historic charm provided an unforgettable backdrop, making our special day truly magical. The venue's ambiance was perfect, creating an enchanting atmosphere that our guests are still raving about.
However, there were a few notable drawbacks. During the ceremony, we experienced rude interruptions from individuals boating on the nearby river. Unfortunately, the venue does not monitor the river during weddings, which allowed for these disruptions. This was quite disappointing and detracted from the otherwise serene environment.
Additionally, the cost was a significant consideration. Since COVID, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens has increased its prices, making it a more expensive option. While the beauty and uniqueness of the venue were worth it to us, it's something to keep in mind for those planning their budget.
Overall, despite these challenges, our wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens was a memorable and romantic experience. The stunning scenery and historic charm made it a perfect setting for our celebration.
Our wedding at Magnolia was beautiful and picturesque! The site itself is clean and meticulously kept/groomed making for lovely photos.
Communication with Magnolia during the planning process was sometimes slow/delayed making things run a little less smoothly.
There is some furniture available to use on your day, but unfortunately setup of this furniture, such as ceremony chairs, is not included and not worth paying extra when the cost of the venue is already top-end. Recommend utilizing your wedding party to help setup.
Also be mindful that other ceremonies may be taking place on your day, limiting your choices for photo locations. This was quite disappointing when we wanted bridal portraits on the white bridge and we couldn’t access it due to another couple.
We are looking forward to returning every year on our anniversary to celebrate and overall we are happy with our venue choice. Just wish some details and communication were solidified better to make our day as wrinkle-free as possible!
Magnolia was the absolute perfect place for our wedding. Even though we weren’t able to get married under the tree like we planned due to the weather, we still had a beautiful and perfect wedding inside. We didn’t do too much to decorate (no extravagant flowers or drapes, just centerpieces and table decorations) and it was just as beautiful. The rain stopped just in time for some beautiful sunset pictures outside by the creek. We also had the best time driving around for pictures with Natasha. She was so much fun!
Magnolia Plantation is absolutely beautiful. We had an intimate 24 person wedding at their live oaks pavilion area and it truly was beautiful. The grounds are just stunning and the wedding being at the end of April meant all of the florals were in full bloom. Unfortunately, the events team is lacking. 1. We had communicated with multiple emails confirming a golf cart rental for one hour to be able to take photos throughout the grounds. The golf cart never showed up. We called and called all of the contacts that we had, and nobody got back to us. Luckily, our AMAZING wedding coordinators drove us around as far as they could in their own vehicle, but we were definitely not able to take a lot of the photos that we were hoping for. 2. When the rental team got there to set up and needed to fill the barrels with water, we could not find the hose connection. We called and called and were unable to get any response. After searching, we were able to find the connection on our own. 3. When I called to discuss this with the team at Magnolia, the venue contact who takes care of their weddings told me she was on vacation for the weekend and was sorry and turns out never actually booked us our golf cart. She did not offer anything other than an apology and did not seem to care much at all. Was extremely disappointed with their service & communication but the venue itself is stunning that I will offer 3 stars.
We had our wedding at Magnolia Plantation - the Carriage House venue and it was amazing. The people were so easy to work with. Communication from day one was amazing and we were able to tour everything on different occasions with our different vendors. They gave a complete vendor recommendation list as well for all types of vendors (even things I had forgotten that I needed to book) - I dealt with a few different people through the communication process and all of them were so helpful and the views at Magnolia are unmatched from anything I’ve ever seen. It was truly amazing!
We absolutely loved Magnolia Plantation & Gardens as our wedding venue! We got married at the Carriage House on February 16, 2024, and our day was everything we could've dreamed of. I absolutely loved the stunning views of the venue, the ability to utilize the grounds for photos, and we even got carted around on a golfcart for pictures! Everyone that we worked with was so nice and helped coordinate set-up of all of our vendors on the day of. We couldn't have imagined getting married anywhere else except the gorgeous low country. We highly recommend Magnolia Plantation & Gardens for all of your weddings and events!
We had an amazing experience. Was so nice of them to provide a golf cart to go around the property to help us get pictures in multiple locations.
Magnolia Plantation and Gardens made our fairy tale wedding come true! The venue rental included the Veranda, front and back lawns, and access to other garden or lawn areas as well! We loved working with Caroline and Amanda helped us closer to our wedding day. If you don't mind planning from a blank slate, I highly recommend the Veranda/Piazza for a wedding venue! It is so charming and beautiful with all of the oak trees, bridges, and spanish moss!
We absolutely loved having our wedding at Magnolia! The staff was very friendly and easy to work with! The property is well kept, and it was perfect day of! I highly recommend having your wedding or next event at Magnolia!
My husband and I got married at Magnolia's last week, and it was perfect! We had our ceremony under "The Oaks" and turned out beautiful. Amanda was so helpful and kind throughout the planning process.
The Pavilion is such a lovely place to host our wedding. The old oak trees are soooooo beautiful and romantic! And Amanda is the best!
Firstly, I wanted to dedicate time to personally write this review to say how much Amanda Hewitt (Wedding Venue Coordinator) is an excellent, thoughtful and professional coordinator from beginning to end for my wedding last Saturday. She is a beautiful person inside and out who was there to help on the day of the wedding when our rental company took a turn for the worse way imaginable. She deserves a huge raise/bonus/more pto/etc!! Lol The wedding thanks to her and Rosemary & Rye Catering went beautifully and we couldn’t ask for a better place to get married. Thank you again for everything, you are an angel! ❤️
Response from the Vendor on 07/26/2023
Thank you so much for your kind words, Brittany! Congratulations!!
We had our wedding at the Carriage House a venue within Magnolia Plantation, and it was a literal dream come true. The communication between me and Amanda the wedding coordinator was frequent and clear- her responses were immediate. This made for a really easy planning process. Even though it rained and our ceremony had to be moved inside the venue was transitioned into such a beautiful space that I didn't even think twice that my original plan wasn't happening. The Carriage House underwent renovations last year and OMG the updates are just so perfect! Thank you so much Magnolia & Amanda for such an unforgettable night!
We held our wedding at Magnolia Plantation - Carriage House, and couldn't have been happier with our day. Communication was frequent and clear, pre-planning was a breeze, and the view speaks for itself. Can't recommend it enough!
I grew up in Charleston, SC. I have wanted to have my wedding at Magnolia since I was 15 years old. I saw my wedding there as a dream come true. I was so excited when I initially booked the venue (The Carriage House) a year in advance.
When booking, I was told that they would ask the other couple if I could use the white bridge for a few minutes the day of my wedding. I was also told that I would have access to a golf cart all day. Unfortunately I did not receive these things in writing and that is on me. Finally, I was told that they would be doing all of these renovations to my venue before the wedding and that it would be done right on time for my wedding day.
Fast forward to a few months before the wedding, I could not get in touch with Magnolia's wedding coordinator to ask her a few questions. I ended up having to use a personal contact at the venue to even receive a response. Then, to my surprise, I was told that I would need to reach out to the other bride to see if I could use the bridge, despite being told the opposite when I signed the contract. Also, I was informed that I could only use the golf cart for an hour and that I would need to pick a time. Keep in mind - they have a gravel lot, so my intention was to use it to bring the elderly guests from the parking lot and then to use it for photos around the gardens. After this, we heard nothing from Magnolia's coordinator.
Finally- the wedding day is here! For starters, there was no event coordinator on site. Only one 16 year old boy. The door to the bridal suite was locked when I arrived and no one let us in for at least 30 minutes. We were not early and I had emailed my entire timeline to the venue. While my wedding planner was setting up, Magnolia had apparently approved a wedding rehearsal to happen during my setup time and the party was very rude and in the way of my wedding being set up. Next, my fireplace and torches were not lit on time. Once again, I had to ask my personal contact (A GUEST AT MY WEDDING) to please help with the issue. Finally, the toilets started to spew water, so bad that the water entered the reception area. When we called to see if someone could fix it, they did nothing and said that they would have to escort people to the bathroom at the other venue.
I understand that things happen, however when my wedding planner called to explain all of the issues we had, the person on the phone simply said, "Well it just seems like you are looking for money back. So how much do you want? " and " You are the most infuriating person to talk to.". We never wanted money back, only an apology and a promise to ensure they would never let this happen to a bride again.
After my wedding coordinator called, I followed up asking for an apology. To this day, no one at Magnolia has contacted me, my mother, or my wedding coordinator with an apology for all of the preventable things that went wrong at my wedding. If you are looking at Magnolia, I highly recommend looking somewhere that treats their clients with respect and in a more professional manner.
I've had a hard time on whether or not I should post this, but I felt like I needed to share my experience. I have always wanted to get married at Magnolia plantation! Ever since seeing the notebook, It was a dream of mine. I was disappointed with how the process went a few weeks before the big day.
The good: This place is magical. It's absolutely stunning in the spring. Flowers everywhere and views of the river that are unreal. It's a fairytale. The carriage house is where we were married, and after the ceremony, we were taken by golf carts all around the property to take pictures. The carriage house is the original stables. Historic!
The bad: To rent the venue was $8,500 with a deposit. It came with nothing but renting the space, the firepit/lanterns lit, and a golf ride. Essentially, we rented an empty stable and grass. We had to bring in our own vendors, including catering and rentals.
When I initially booked the spot, the women I worked with explained that their hours for the plantation closed to the public at 4 pm instead of 5 pm. This way, we would have the grounds to take photos before the ceremony so we wouldn't have to be in one area with cars as the background & can enjoy the reception. The park was open until 5 pm to the public, and we were limited on where we could take bridal portraits before the wedding. Not too much of a big deal, but still annoying.
Two weeks before the wedding, we were told we needed to pay for a $1 MILLION insurance policy for the wedding. It's mandatory. Why wasn't this addressed to us from the very beginning? They put it in the contract but don't disclose it upfront.
DAYS before the wedding, we get an email explaining the carriage house is under renovation, and there will be no restrooms in the venue. They were bringing LUXURY Portapotties. They explained that they would try to make them look "as nice as possible"; however, it was an eyesore, and it limited us to where we could take pictures on the already limited space ceremony site. I was furious, and the coordinator couldn't even call me back until days later.
On the rehearsal day, we drive in to see the main house covered in tarp for renovations. My jaw dropped. IT wasn't just the carriage house; it was the property. Jobs like this take anywhere from weeks to months to plan.. They didn't feel it necessary to inform us until a few days before the wedding/not at all. To us, that was beyond unprofessional. A wedding we had been planning for 3 years had a magnitude of drama just days prior, and I think that is so unfair-- especially with how much we paid to rent the space.
After a fight, they gave me my deposit back, and the wedding was beautiful because my vendors worked so hard to make it so,
If I had the opportunity to pick another wedding venue, I would have due to the headache this was at the last second. Maggie was an angel at Magnolia. She did her best to help us, and I don't think I would have been as calm if it wasn't for her.
Overall-- how stunning this property is can make up for the unprofessionalism; however, if you want to get married here-- make sure you ask for transparency at the very beginning.
Charleston is such a photogenic city in every way…and Magnolia reflects that beauty! We had our wedding at the Veranda in December. At first being concerned about winter weather and an outdoor venue…Mother Nature brought wonderful weather the day of our wedding, but when the sun went down and it started to get chilly, we had heat lamps and blankets that kept our guests warm enough between dances ! The Veranda was a perfect venue for us and we absolutely enjoyed hosting our wedding there. Our planner coordinated with the staff so we personally didn’t have much interaction but we had no complaints! Beautiful venue for a momentous event!
Our destination wedding at Magnolia was breathtaking! It was the talk of all our guests. Thank you!
As the owner of www.sweetblissmedia.com we truly enjoyed capturing images at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens! This venue is hands down a location that I would love to get married at! My brother got married here in 2012 and I also have photographed weddings here. There are thousands of cute photo options for brides which is a dream come true for a photographer. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and goes above the normal standards for a wedding venue. There is tons of space if you’re having a larger wedding. In addition to that they have many different locations that you can get married at. They have a getting-ready cabin for the ladies which is perfect for photo opts. This is also a great spot if you just want to take nature photos as well because there is so much to see and do. If you're engaged you should definitely arrange a tour of this venue because you will be in love!
Had the most amazing beautiful wedding at Magnolia, it was everything we dreamed of! The wedding team was amazing!!
Our daughter’s wedding was rescheduled from April 25th to Sept. 18th due to COVID and Magnolia was so very accommodating through it all! The setting was so beautiful, and after looking at several Venues, we are so delighted that we chose the right one! We would very highly recommend them for any event!!
My daughter's wedding was the BEST night ever! The venue is gorgeous. The gardens, the river and the spanish moss can not be beat! All of our family and friends described my daughter's wedding as a "fairy tale wedding that can't be beat". I have heard from my daughter's college friends that have been to a lot of weddings in the past few years and they said this wedding couldn't been topped. The food from B Gourmet was fantastic, the flowers from Wildflowers were stunning and blew me away. The draping from Low Country Entertainment made the venue sooo elegant. Jessica Cruz with Cruz Coordination was an absolute God Send who handled every change we had to make during a pandemic with ease. She is worth her weight in gold!!! We could not be happier with the way the wedding went the entire day!! Our only regret is that we don't get a do over!! :)
Magnolia is such a beautiful and quintessentially Lowcountry venue. From the rustic indoor space, stunning ceremony locations, and icon white bridge, Magnolia is a beautiful venue for any occasion. We adore working with the sales team and event staff and we are always excited when our couples decide to host their nuptials at Magnolia!
My daughter's wedding at the Carriage House July 12th was simply breathtaking! They were married under the huge live oak, and the ceremony was simply stunning. The Carriage House is located on the Ashley River so guests also enjoyed chatting on the platform overlooking the river. The bridal suite is just the perfect size for final touch-ups before the ceremony and relaxing intermittently throughout the evening. The staff are simply exceptional in both providing feedback and personable service. No doubt they are employing all Covid best practices. Our guests can't stop talking about this venue! And of course, we recommend the impeccable Pure Luxe Brides wedding planners to coordinate every aspect of your special day and guide you throughout the entire process from engagement to the Big Day! We have been blessed in every way to work with these exceptional vendors!!
I would never go here especially during this time of the year. They have a bunch of these lantern
things set up and in the day time they look like trash. I am not making my dad spend $10,000's of dollars on my special day and there be these trashy looking Chinese laterns in the way. If your planning to have your wedding here from now to April then I would cancel asap! Don't do it!
We had an amazing time renting the Carriage House for our recent wedding on August 3rd. Their staff was always willing to allow me to come and share the venue before hand with friends and family and let us into the gardens for free when we visited. The onsite bridal suite was perfect for my bridesmaids and I to get ready in and the grounds were the perfect backdrop for our big day! Everyone was in awe of our venue and how beautiful it all came together!
The Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation was everything we dreamed of for our wedding venue. We had the ceremony under the old oak tree then moved inside, which was perfect for the weather in May.
This venue was exactly what we envisioned for our wedding. The grounds are breathtaking and the carriage house is beautiful and homey at the same time. We had terrible storms on our wedding day and were so thankful to have chosen the carriage house. We had the options of moving the ceremony to the porch or inside, we chose inside and it was a beautiful, intimate ceremony. We had about 70 people at our wedding and the space was set up to feel intimate but not empty. We were still able to take advantage of the grounds and walked around in the rain for some fun and amazing pictures. Leanza was great to work with throughout the process, always responsive to our random questions. She was great to work with as a bride from out of state.
Magnolia Plantation is absolutely beautiful. We had our wedding at the Carriage House and it was perfect, absolutely us! I love the rustic nature of the space and the fact that you don't even need alot of decor because the space itself is gorgeous! The bridal suite at the Carriage House is also the cutest little house ever. The fact that there is a kitchen on site also helps with the caterer. Leanza was a pleasure to work with at Magnolia and I highly recommend Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.
Magnolia Plantation is a fairy tale venue! We got married at the Conservatory and I could not have imagined anything more beautiful. The ceremony was on the School House Lawn and then our guests walked over the quaint red bridge to the reception. The greenhouse along with all of our floral arrangements and decor made for a breathtaking space. We danced all night on the deck!
The second we saw Magnolia, we knew that we had to get married there! The Plantation is incredibly beautiful and has three options for your wedding. We chose the Carriage House and could not be happier with our choice. It was the most picturesque place to get married! Leanza was also wonderful and the preferred vendor list she provided was amazing. We loved every single one of our vendors that she recommended.
We LOVE Magnolia Plantation. We found it through their enticing oak picture on this website, and decided to take a trip to Charleston to see the venue...definitely did not disappoint! Thank you Magnolia for not only being a beautiful dream to get married at, but also helping us fall in love with Charleston. As a destination bride, it was difficult deciding on venue, vendors, etc. without being there in person. Leanza is so quick to respond and provided me with a list of preferred vendors which really helped! I would just recommend booking early since it's one of the top places to get married in the U.S. (certainly for a reason). The only thing I can "complain" about , if you can even call it that because it wasn't a big deal at all, is that we were told the Carriage House (our venue's) floors would be renovated to a stained cement well before our wedding and it wasn't. But really, that's one of those details that NOBODY cares about anyway. Just figured I'd mention it because those stained floors would be really pretty!
Magnolia Plantation Conservatory was the perfect venue for our small, intimate wedding. It is not your typical wedding venue which just makes it so much better! It was absolutely beautiful and magical in the conservatory. It turned out better than we had imagined and magnolia plantation provides so many beautiful areas for photos. Magnolia plantation also provides free admission to guests on the day of the wedding so there was a lot to offer our guests to keep them occupied until the wedding.
We loved the conservatory and definitely recommend it for anyone who wants more than just the typical plantation wedding.
We had a such wonderful experience at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens! We were planning our wedding from Philadelphia, and couldn't ask for more a helpful team to work with throughout the planning process. From our initial tour of the entire plantation and venue space, we had a great experience on site and with the staff. The Magnolia team provided us with an amazing list of vendors who were familiar with the venue, and were there to provide more recommendations along the way.
When we decided to book the Carriage House for our wedding, we were happy to find out that an outdoor ceremony site was also included, as well as use of the entire plantation for photos, and a bridal suite. We got married on the grounds of the Carriage House this past October and couldn't have asked for a more picture perfect day. The grounds provide such an AMAZING backdrop for photographs and a wedding ceremony! We are so overwhelmed thinking back to how beautiful our wedding was.
This was my dream venue, and it did NOT disappoint. It was so beautiful and my vendors were able to create the exact wedding that I had always dreamed of having. Thank you to Magnolia & the entire staff for making our wedding a reality!
This wedding venue is a DREAM. It is breathtakingly beautiful and the staff is helpful and kind. The event coordinator was understanding and worked with my bridal party and I to accommodate our last minute changes and needs. I am so thankful to have had my wedding at such a stunning venue. I have not stopped receiving compliments about our venue since our wedding.
I wish I could give Magnolia Plantation more than a one-star rating as a wedding venue, but after our recent experience with the property and its staff, I believe even that rating is too high. Here is what occurred during my daughter’s June wedding and in the months since: The bride and her attendants, including the mothers, arrived at Magnolia Plantation six hours in advance of the ceremony only to find the air conditioner broken in the bridal suite. Temperatures quickly soared to over 90 degrees. With up to 14 people enclosed in the tiny space, conditions became intolerable. The stylists were applying makeup to bridesmaids only to watch it drip off. Our wedding planner called the sales manager, who was not on-site that day, but the response was nothing more than an apology – not from the sales manager, mind you, but from the wedding planner who had no real control over the situation anyway.
In seeking relief, the bridesmaids congregated in the bathroom area of the bridal suite because there was cool air seeping through a locked door that accessed an office on the other side. As conditions worsened, one bridesmaid pounded on the locked door in desperation hoping that someone might be on the other side. To our shock, a staff person opened the door and was thrown aback by the extreme heat in the suite. She arranged to have a small portable air conditioner brought to the suite, but it was too little, too late. By the time the ceremony started an hour later, the temperature in the bridal suite had dropped only to a still unacceptable 86 degrees. Where was this person when we first arrived? Why didn’t she stop by to see how things were going? From my perspective, it is simply good public relations with customers who have just spent $7,000 to use your venue to let them know that you appreciate their business.
In the three months since the wedding, I have sent three letters to Magnolia Plantation – the last by certified mail – requesting a partial refund because of the non-functioning air conditioner. My correspondence has not received so much as an acknowledgement, much less an apology, leaving me with no other impression that Magnolia Plantation could not care less about their customers once they have your money in hand. In hindsight, I regret that we did not select a different venue for my daughter’s wedding. $7,000 is real money to me. To be treated so disrespectfully by Magnolia Plantation is simply unacceptable.
A/C was broken and my wedding guests were covered in sweat. Several had to leave early due to the blazing temperature inside the carriage house. I only found out about the broken A/C upon arriving for my wedding (imagine my surprise). When I spoke to the site manager during my reception he informed me that the A/C had been broken for at least a week. However, no one from Magnolia called me at any time before my wedding to inform me of this issue. In fact, after sending an email to Magnolia's wedding sales rep the day after my wedding I am still waiting for an explanation. We paid $7000 for this venue and it was the worst decision. There is zero customer service. We had to call the site manager several times during our reception and only after fighting about it did they bring out 2 fans. By this time the reception was half way done. Additionally, one fan was so rusted through I had to request it be kept as far from the buffet dinner table as possible. The second fan was a tiny box fan. Stay away. Your wedding day is too important for a venue like Magnolia that only wants your money and could care less about your happiness or satisfaction.
The Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation is an absolute dream! Leanza was great to work with and we highly recommend this venue and team!!
I cannot say enough about Magnolia as a venue. We got married in the Carriage House- our guests continuously complimented how beautiful our venue was. The Carriage House includes a bridal cottage that was great to hang out in prior to the wedding and finish getting ready in. Leanza is extremely kind and helpful. She responds quickly to emails, and even checked in periodically to see if we needed anything. The venue is great about you stopping by to relook at venue during the planning process, which being a local resident I found helpful.
Our wedding started to fall apart a few days prior and pretty much ended up being a disaster. I can't blame all of the problems on Magnolia but there were some things that really didn't help the situation. So, there's no bridal suite. I knew this upon touring the property but I was so swept up in having my wedding there that I overlooked it. Don't. You need a place for you and your bridesmaids. They "close off" the bathroom under the porch which is ok, but as I was having a meltdown #72 of the day, there were random people just cruising in and out to use the restroom. The bigger disappointment was the fact that the light bulbs were out on one side of the Veranda. I had caterers serving our guests in the dark!!! I also had my co-workers eating in the dark. Are you kidding me?? Overall, I feel like it's overpriced and I wouldn't choose Magnolia Plantation if I did it all over again.
Most romantic and magical place EVER!
Magnolia Plantation is the most beautiful backdrop for any occasion.
We toured multiple plantations while in Charleston and decided on Magnolia as it is truly the most beautiful and well kept.
Our wedding was in April 27th on the Veranda, we had our ceremony on the white bridge lawn and cocktail hour in front of the house.
Our dinner and dancing was on the Veranda itself for 150 guests and it was absolutely perfect.
We had multiple guests come up to us and tell us that they have never been to such a beautiful wedding and a big factor was the venue.
Peacocks adorned our pictures and the azaleas were all in bloom. Stunning!
The only thing I would advise you on is to coordinate transportation as Uber does not yet come out to pick people up.
They will drop off, but not offer the location as a pick up location. (Feedback for Uber as well)
You would also need to organize a separate location to get ready in as the Veranda does not come with a bridal suite and the room where the bridal group can store their belongings is also the event's restrooms, so no where to lock them up.
Would pick this venue over and over again!
I had my wedding at Magnolia Plantation at their Veranda location and COULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPIER! The location is one you won't get anywhere else. I was planning a destination wedding and immediately fell INLOVE with the venue upon visiting. Simply put, it's gorgeous, myself and my guests were blown away. Even with the rain, my day could not have been anymore perfect! Even when taking pictures Leanza helped drive us around on their trolley which I was not expecting! I don't think you can get a more beautiful venue in Charleston (and at a very reasonable price!)
Words can’t express how amazing our wedding was and how wonderful the experience was working with Magnolia Plantation and Gardens!!! Our wedding and photos look like we came out of a fairytale and the photos and ambiance you can’t get anywhere else! I am so overwhelmed thinking back to how beautiful our wedding was. We were lucky enough to have the Azaleas in bloom which was incredible, but what is so nice about this venue is that rain or shine the pictures will look incredible! I worked with Leanza a lot and she was amazing to work with and helped accommodate our wedding beyond what I could have imagined! I can’t recommend Magnolia Plantation enough!!!
The venue is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! It is Charleston at its finest. The staff was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process!
We absolutely LOVED the Carriage House! It was such a beautiful wedding venue. Every staff member we encountered throughout the planning process was very helpful and we couldn't have been happier on our wedding day!
We used the carriage house for our wedding and could not have asked for anything better! The girls that work at the carriage house were very helpful the day of the wedding and had everything we had asked from them taken care of! The venue may seem a little pricey, but if you can afford it my fiancé and I both highly recommend using Magnolia Plantation for your wedding venue. The venue was gorgeous and all of our guests absolutely loved it.
Absolutely perfect! Gorgeous weather and everything went smoothly.
We booked Magnolia Plantation's Carriage House for our wedding and reception. It was a destination wedding, and the whole team was very helpful throughout our planning process from afar. It was such a beautiful venue and we love that you are allowed to use the entirety of the grounds for photos!
We had an amazing experience with Magnolia Plantation. We had our ceremony at the lawn in front of the long white bridge, our cocktail hour on the veranda, and a tented reception in the plantation house lawn. Magnolia was easy going, professional, and reliable throughout the entire wedding process. Leanza and the other event planners were always happy to answer any questions we had, were cool with all our vendors, and helped schedule our rehearsal run through the day before. Magnolia Plantation is one of the most beautiful, unique wedding venues there is, and we recommend it to anyone who is looking for a tented or outdoor wedding. Our guests were blown away by the beauty of the venue, and commented that it was the most beautiful venue they've ever seen. We couldn't agree more!
Magnolia veranda was a wonderful venue site and would highly recommend. We planned our wedding for sept 15th and it was a few days after hurricaine Irma. The staff at magnolia was nothing short of spectacular. They were available via email even during the local evacuations and constantly updated us with changes. The site was impeccable only four days post tropical storm. The two only things I would recommend for brides is definitely spray property for mosquitos, we used mosquito nix, so worth the money! also we had café lighting with a light dimmer, however when we dimmed the lights it shut off the fans and the southern humidity was intense haha. definitely book this venue!!!!
My husband and I got married at the Veranda this past May. It is a truly magical place, and our wedding was nothing short of a fairytale. I highly recommend to do an outdoor wedding that gives your guests a true Charleston experience. The planning is a little more involved with this venue since they don't provide anything, but the good news is that it's so beautiful you don't have to do much decorating. I also think we ended up saving a lot of money since we were able to choose our vendors. We looked at every outdoor venue in Charleston, and this was by far our favorite. It was the absolute perfect place for our wedding, and I am so glad we chose to get married here!
We just had our wedding at the Carriage house on Sunday! We LOVED THE VENUE! Our guests were in awe! We loved the interior and being alongside the Ashley River! The venue itself is beautiful and a dream come true! We are so glad we chose this for our wedding! It was perfect!!! We can't wait to see pictures!
From the moment we walked onto the property, we knew we wanted to get married here. The event staff was very responsive and easy to work with. The venue is beautiful- we were married at and had the reception at the Carriage House. We were able to get pictures at several amazing spots and could have taken all night. We worked with Leanza and Richard and both were wonderful. Thank you!
We cannot say enough wonderful things about Magnolia plantation and gardens! Everything was absolutely spectacular. The views, untouched beauty, and wildlife were the perfect venue for our big day. The staff were fabulous and so accommodating for our hot and humid July wedding. I would highly recommend this quintessential venue to anyone traveling to Charleston
Thank you for the best wedding!!
Magnolia Plantation was exactly what I was looking for in a wedding venue - romantic, lush, and full of natural beauty. It was the first venue we visited, and it was an immediate decision. We chose the carriage house for the rustic feel of the indoor area and gorgeous lawn with the iconic oaks and spanish moss. We even had some peacocks join the party, which were a huge hit. The bridal suite was a great convenience, as well as being able to ride on the golf cart for different photo locations. Our guests also got to have free admission to the Gardens throughout the whole wedding weekend, which is nice for out of town guests. If you are considering the Carriage House, just know that you will have to bring in everything separately - tables, chairs, decorations, catering, day-of-coordinator - which took more coordination but for us was totally worth it! I am so happy that I went with my gut and had my perfect wedding at Magnolia Plantation.
I absolutely loved working with Magnolia Plantation. Their whole staff was friendly, professional and made sure everything was perfect for the day of. One of their maintenance staff was willing to hang some last minute Spanish moss from the chandeliers and drove us wherever our photographer wanted to take wedding photos at. He even suggested spots that we didn't know about. It was a great experience and Magnolia will always hold a special place in our hearts because of it.
Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is literally the most magical place on earth, which is why we choose the location for our destination wedding! All of our guest were blown away by how beautiful the location was! Richard even took time out of his busy day to drive us around to locations where we wanted photographs!
I am still dreaming about our big day at Magnolia! My Husband and I got married on the Carriage House lawn and then had our reception inside the Carriage House. Everything was PERFECT! Beyond perfect actually. We are still hearing from our guests how they felt like they were in the Notebook! Magnolia Plantation is so romantic and gorgeous. It's also nice that they have several venues on the property. Leanza and Cindy are amazing!! They were so helpful and are so sweet. We highly recommend considering Magnolia for your big day! You will not regret it!!
This was a wonderful venue for our 'vintage glam' wedding! Everyone there was very helpful as well!
My fiancé and I recently toured Magnolia plantation and gardens because it was our first choice. We wanted to have a outdoor ceremony under a oak tree in Charleston. We drove all the way to Charleston and were underwhelmed by the carriage house and grounds. There were beer bottle caps everywhere. For the price of the carriage house and the amount of work/ decorations you would need to put into the venue it was not worth the hype to us. After our tour of the carriage house (which has a ugly carpet and 70's style paneling) we had a food tasting with there recommended caterer, whom I notified in advance that I had a allergy and he served me a item that gave me a serious reaction anyway. Not the experience I would recommend to anyone.
The venue is as beautiful as you could possibly imagine. No additional services are included (catering/planning/lighting/etc) but as far as a beautiful scenery, you will never find anything better. It's reasonably priced (although I think prices are going up) and it's unique. I had my wedding in front of the white bridge and the reception was on the veranda. There is a tiny set up window so not much decorating can really be done. We couldn't start setting up until 3 with a wedding start time of 5. The mosquitoes were out of hand due to Hurricane Matthew but we had someone come spray the ground to help and brought tons of bug spray. Also, understandably there a quite a few rules about what you can use and not use at the wedding. (after all it is a historical sight and a public garden). Overall, the staff was helpful and very easy to work with. The pictures are beyond gorgeous and if I could do it again, I'd do it the same. We came all of the way from Arkansas to get married here and it was truly a fairy tale wedding.
My husband and I first found Magnolia when we were looking for destination wedding venues online. We decided to visit the property in February 2015 and absolutely fell in love and we booked on the spot. The team at Magnolia was more than friendly, accommodating, and extremely responsive. They helped us with our elopement in October 2015 and our actual wedding a few weeks ago in October 2016. Our actual wedding was the week after Hurricane Matthew hit and needless-to-say we were in a panic, particularly because we were out of state and weren't really sure what was happening in Charleston. Leanza stayed in communication with us and was very prompt in providing us with updates and information. We were thankful that the weather turned out to be beautiful on our wedding day and our wedding couldn't have been more beautiful. All of our guests raved over the property and the conservatory where we held our reception. Overall we had a phenomenal experience working with Magnolia and would highly recommend any of the venues on the property. Our wedding turned out to be absolutely magical, just as we had hoped. :)
Absolutely stunning venue! I found Magnolia on a whim after originally planning on having our wedding in Atlanta. One visit to the plantation and after meeting with Leanza, their event sales manager, my husband and I were sold. We booked the Carriage House and it completely emulated the perfect southern wedding. The outside ceremony space is set alongside the Ashely River underneath a giant oak tree while inside the Carriage House has just the right amount of rustic feel. All of our guests were complementing how beautiful the venue was. We had access to the entire grounds, minus the red bridge since another bride had booked the Conservatory for the same day, but there are so many gorgeous places for pictures that did not bother us one bit. My husband and I opted to do our first look at the swamps, which seemed a little unconventional, compared to the popular white bridge, however, our photographers could not stop talking about how amazing the pictures were. I think they were more excited than us! The Carriage House also has a bridal suite located a few steps away which was so convenient for getting ready beforehand and hiding away before our introductions to the reception. The one thing to consider is that this particular location does not come with any tables or chairs, only a bar, but the venue prices are really great for the Charleston area regardless. All in all Magnolia was breeze to work with, we received our security deposit back very quickly, and the grounds are absolutely breathtaking. I would highly recommend Magnolia Planation!
Our wedding was at the Magnolia Plantation Conservatory. It was absolutely beautiful, and the staff was very accommodating. I would highly recommend!
We live in Charlotte. NC and had been searching for months for the perfect wedding venue. It wasn't until I was "googling" one day that Magnolia Plantation and Gardens popped up in my search list and the pictures were just breathtaking. It was perfect... romantic, blooming, fairytale-like with southern charm. We booked it without even visiting first! A couple months later we visited and did a walk through of the carriage house and bridal suite and I was just swept off my feet. All of my family was traveling from PA and FL so I really wanted my family to feel that way too, swept into another land and time. It was the perfect setting for our September 25th, 2016 wedding and I absolutely cannot wait to see the pictures! Thank you so much Magnolia for working through email contact! <3
The venue is absolutely stunning and all of my guests were in love with the plantation and gardens. The event planners were great to work with and I would recommend this venue to anyone interested in a beautiful outdoor wedding.
Magnolia was literally a dream location for my wedding. My husband and I live in NYC and wanted to have our wedding in our favorite city (Charleston). I knew I wanted a rustic feel with space for outdoor activity. Both the ceremony and reception was held at the Carriage House. The space was perfect for the amount of guests we had and staff at the plantation were beyond welcoming and helpful. The grounds are breathtaking and you will not regret having your wedding here. I just wish I could go back to Magnolia and do it again every weekend!
My husband and I had our dream wedding at Magnolia Plantation! We were blown away with the history and beauty of this place. The grounds are massive, gorgeous, and everything was affordable! We had visited other plantations, but none compared to Magnolia! You really get way more for your money there. Our wedding was on the Veranda, but we still had access to the rest of the grounds, except for the Carriage House, as another wedding was going on. The staff was professional, friendly, quick to respond and very helpful. Our guests are still raving about our wedding, and many took advantage of the free admission to the tours because they were guests at our wedding. We all appreciated the fact that Magnolia gave our guests free tours - that was very kind! You can't go wrong with this place. It is a dream!!
So much potential but such a huge disappointment! Beautiful setting but in October you still deal with mosquitoes (even though both wedding parties paid extra to have it sprayed) , bride had to hide in her fathers car because there was no bridal suite for her to wait for ceremony to begin ( only one ladies restroom and that is where they expect bride to get ready) porch of house slants so bad, elderly had trouble negotiating cocktail area and don't even think about dancing, tables for dinner are packed together so tightly do not expect to visit with guests at other tables! Biggest disappointment was the conduct of the wedding director named Cindy. She insulted the grandparents by insinuating they were too old to be escorted in and out of ceremony, and made family members move just before ceremony was to begin. Family handled it well but were so embarrassed by the wedding director we all felt bad for them. Glad my daughters have chosen other venues...with some much needed facility updating and most definitely a new wedding director, this place could be a wonderful venue. Brides.....Look Carefully before you commit!
GORGEOUS venue! We got married at the carriage house (which is air conditioned) on August 26th. Beautiful location, the guests were amazed by it.
We booked Magnolia Plantation and the carriage house for our destination wedding, sight unseen. Once we were able to visit a few months before our wedding, we knew we picked the perfect venue. Located along the Ashley River, the carriage house has so many great features - the water view, big lawn area for the ceremony and cocktail hour, a patio for dancing and the DJ, plus inside the carriage house for dinner. The bridal suite came in handy for us girls to get to the venue early, relax, pop some champagne, then get dressed, all before the guys and our guests arrived. Rain was projected on our big day, and we were happy to have a venue that allowed for flexibility - we could easily tent the patio area, and do the ceremony there, or move everything inside. Thankfully, the rain held out, but it helped ease our minds knowing we had multiple options. I loved having the tiki torches and fire pit for our guests to enjoy after the sun went down, and it cooled down a bit. After our ceremony, a golf cart came by to take me and my husband around the plantation with our photographer to grab a few extra shots. Make sure to factor in that you need to bring in EVERYTHING: the tables, the chairs, a caterer, bar services, etc. That can add up quickly, and we definitely spent a lot more than if we had booked a venue where the site had all of that available. While it's pricey to book Magnolia, and even more so on a weekend, we wouldn't have picked any other venue for our big day. Everything was exactly what we had hoped for, and more.
I would highly recommend anyone looking for a wedding venue to check out Magnolia Plantation. Cindy and Leanza were so easy to work with! We planned on having our ceremony and reception at the Veranda house but it was POURING rain on our wedding day! They worked with our event planner and helped move to location to the carriage house. Although this was not the venue I wanted and had envisioned, it was beautiful. I cannot say enough good things about how great they were to work with. After the ceremony Richard was SOOO kind and took us around in the rain on a golf cart to anywhere we wanted to go for pictures. He helped move picnic tables around for picture purposes and was so patient. This man deserves a medal for his hard work! All in all it was lovely and I would recommend it to anyone!
We recently got married on April 14, 2016 and I can't express enough how wonderful Magnolia Plantation was. From the beginning they were kind, thoughtful, helpful and overall amazing people to work with. On our wedding day our guests along with my husband and I couldn't believe the beauty of the plantation and the incredible carriage house. It really was a dream come true and we are so thankful to have our wedding take place in such a romantic, magical place.
There is nothing else to say except that Magnolia is THE PERFECT venue for a wedding in the Charleston area! It is quintessential Charleston plantation!!
We held our reception at the Conservatory. Our intimate party thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful grounds and greenhouse.
The grounds are brightly colored, clean, and full of life! The staff at Magnolia is friendly and helpful. The cost of the venue rental is very inexpensive and includes the teak table and chairs!
This venue also lends itself to some gorgeous photography! Richard Bell Photography s the premier photographer for this venue. They know the area well and are just the absolute best at what they do!
Cruz Coordinators is invaluable at this venue as well, as owner, Jessica Cruz, used to be the event coordinator at Magnolia!
Highly recommend this venue!
We got married on The Long White Bridge Lawn and had our reception on The Veranda. We had lawn games on the side lawn and our cocktail hour in the butterfly garden. It was all so beautiful, and Leanza was so great to work with! It was perfect! I feel like it is the best site at the venue, because you really get the quintessential plantation feeling, and the views of the long white bridge and the house make for the perfect wedding photos. If you are having a small enough wedding, I highly recommend picking the Veranda as your location.I can't wait to visit again in the future and reminisce on our perfect day while walking through the gardens.
We had our April wedding at the Veranda and could not have been happier with our venue. Leanza was extremely organized and friendly in all of her communication. The venue looks like something out of a fairytale. The only drawbacks to this site on the plantation is there are some bugs this time of year, there isn't really a suitable getting ready space or a holding room, and there is only one bathroom. If these things are less important to you than dreamy oak trees and a beautiful porch reception than I would definitely recommend Magnolia!
I was the last of three sisters to get married at Magnolia, it did not disappoint!! My wedding was incredibly beautiful and the flowers were perfect. Magnolia is the ideal place for a beautiful southern wedding!!
Absolutely gorgeous venue! The Carriage House was the perfect location for our wedding. We held the ceremony outside overlooking the Ashley River and had the reception inside the Carriage House. Staff was so helpful and the lighted torches and firepit added charm and romance. We can honestly say that booking our venue in advance was well worth the wait. The gardens in April are stunning and we were fortunate to have perfect weather. Flexibility to bring our own vendors makes this venue a very affordable option.
Exquisite!! We just got married on 11.29.2015 at the Carriage House on the property. It was so stunning that the photos looked unreal and like they were out of a fairytale. The carriage house is set back on the banks of the Ashley river which is so charming. Leanza was the on site Event Manager and was so wonderful, helpful and accommodating. Weather was so wonderful, sunny and 75 by day and low 60s in the evening!
