My wife and I were just married at Mapleside Farms (barn) over the weekend and we honestly could not have been more thrilled with it. The Barn is just a gorgeous venue and has everything you could want for a wedding of our size (~150 guests). Our 5pm outdoor ceremony made it perfect to capture sunset photos just as dinner was served and they turned out incredibly.
Also have to shoutout the catering/planning staff at A Taste of Excellence for their tremendous professionalism and communication through our entire planning process. We were so happy with the food selections made available and vegetarian/gluten free requests for various guests, and the excellent DJ vendor they recommended (Selective Sound) was just the icing on the cake.
It all went better than we possibly could have imagined and made our big day as memorable as we'd hoped it would be. If you're looking for an affordable yet stunning wedding venue that checks all the boxes, look no further than Mapleside Farms.
Emily and her team handled every detail superbly. Adjustments made throughout the planning process without issue. On the event day, all the staff were responsive and friendly
My husband and I got married under the silos near the waterfall followed by cocktail hour using the outdoor bar and silos. This beautiful venue created the MOST magical day of our life. Even better to follow it up we had our reception in the barn. The facilities allow for the smooth transition between the gorgeous views of the orchard/ valley to the rustic fairytale landscape of the two tiered high ceiling structure with built in luxurious chandeliers and string lighting. Our friends and family still talk about our wedding to this day. The food, service and drinks flowed perfectly between cocktail hour, dinner, speeches and dancing. 5 STARS MAPLESIDE!
Any questions?
My partner and I were married in The Barn this past weekend and could not recommend it more. We worked alongside Debbie from Taste of Excellence during the planning process, who was beyond helpful and approachable. Pam worked with us on our actual wedding day (because Debbie had a family wedding to attend), but jumped right in and made sure everything was perfect. The Taste of Excellence waitstaff was BEYOND friendly during setup, dinner service, and cleanup. Our guests raved about the food, stating it was the best wedding food they've ever had. Booking this venue and catering service was a large part of our budget, but it was 100% worth it. Guests told us that our wedding looked like it could have been in a wedding magazine!
My experience was amazing! Everyone at Mapleside was so accommodating and super easy to work with. The venue was set up exactly how we asked. I highly recommend Mapleside Farms for your next event!
We’ve been hosting our annual Business at the Barn event at Mapleside for 7 years now! The Mapleside team have been a pleasure to work with year after year. The team’s attention to detail, communication and overall customer service is top notch. I highly recommend Mapleside for any event, wedding, etc. they will make the process stress free. Thanks again!
I attended a wedding inside The Barn at Mapleside and several graduation parties. They were all so beautiful. Love all the little details that made each event seem so special. Everything was so lovely and went so smoothly! I would highly recommend this venue for any special event. Everyone I dealt with was beyond helpful! Overall a fantastic experience!
Taste of excellence did a wonderful job helping us book Mapleside farms especially Debbie Powers. I could not have been able to plan a wedding from another state without her help and support. I would recommend Mapleside and a taste of excellence to anyone in Cleveland
My Wife and I had no second choice.
I personally have been going to Mapleside since I was barely old enough to stand on my own. Years later, when my wife and I started dating, I would take her to the hillside to watch the sunsets and just relax in the peaceful atmosphere. I remember watching The Barn being built, I was wondering what it was going to be.
Fast forward a few years later, still together, still going to Mapleside, no longer wondering what that new building being constructed would be for, we already knew.
We knew years down the road, whenever the time was right, where our wedding would be held, without a shadow of a doubt. Yes, it was years later, many years. We discussed and approximate we had our date selected in our minds 8 years in advance, a Saturday on the same date as they day we officially became a couple. It would be another few years until we finally got engaged and officially booked The Barn on our day.
For years we imagined the day, pictured and planned, and waited for our time to come.
For having known for so many years where our special day would occur, and just daydreaming about the details, nothing could have prepared me for the day to finally arrive.
The people at Mapleside absolutely and fantastically exceeded our expectations beyond our wildest imagination. Every went completely flawless, the venue was beyond magical and beautiful on our day. I have heard from so many guests comments like "this is the most beautiful venue I've ever been to!" you don't need to tell me, I've been coming since I was a little kid, the property is unmatched!
Planning and prepping the months leading up was so easy. we had great contacts within A Taste of Excellence and Mapleside who made every step of the way completely stress free and efficient.
The staff was beyond friendly, and THE FOOD. Oh my goodness the food. Sometimes you go to a wedding and the meal served is just that, just a meal. Nothing special. My wife and I are foodies, and we wouldn't allow that. Mapleside's caterer, A Taste of Excellence, absolutely lives up to its name. The meals were absolutely outstanding. No one had a bad word to say. They made it so easy to have a gluten free wedding for my wife who has a dietary need for that. The lemon chicken was probably one of the top 3 meals I've ever tasted, absolutely mouthwatering.
Mapleside so far exceeded all our hopes, visions, dreams, expectations, etc, for the day. The day could not have gone any smoother, and if it wasn't for this incredible venue, it really would not have been as special and magical.
Mapleside has always held special meaning in both of our hearts, and now, it has solidified that meaning for all our lives.
Thanks to all the wonderful people at Mapleside and Taste of Excellence who made our dreams become reality, the day could not have gone any better, and we could not possibly be any happier.
We got married at the lodge 10/07/23 AND still waiting for a refund or any follow up from the mess they caused. Mapleside charged for security that they never provided. Outside Mapleside guests entered the reception thinking the lodge was still a restaurant /bar and was ordering drinks in casual clothing… The “security” we had was never there or on site. Mapleside is neglectful at following through with any refunds or any follow up what so ever. Along with the no security and blunders of the day, there was no parking for my wedding guests in the designated area for their parking tags. They allowed Mapleside guests to park where the ceremony was held and all of my ceremony photos of walking down the aisle has a parking lot of cars. To say the least it is not great shots walking through a parking lot of cars in your wedding dress. They guaranteed there would not be any cars there for the ceremony. In top of ceremony botched photos, many photos inside the actual lodge was ruined cringe because of missing ceiling tiles from water damage that was not there during our walk thru. We majorly regret having Mapleside as our venue. Nothing but disappointments even 6 months passed. They are money hungry and truly don’t care about your special day. You would be better off getting married at your local bar if you want unwanted off the streets guests in there disrupting your day.
I had my wedding at the Lodge on 02/24/2024 and it was STUNNING! The inside of the lodge is so beautiful on its own that minimal decorations were needed. I also loved having the option for an indoor ceremony downstairs in the cellar should inclement weather interfere with an outdoor ceremony. All the staff working that day were super helpful, accommodating, and very professional. The price for booking the Lodge was WAY under our budget and it is an amazing price for such a beautiful space! I have already recommended Mapleside to several people who are planning weddings and I will continue to do so as long as I know people who are getting married! I will never be able to thank Mapleside and it’s wonderful enough for making our big day seamless, stress free, and absolutely perfect!
I had my daughter's wedding at The Barn at Mapleside Farms 2-24-24. This venue is gorgeous inside and the views outside are incredible. We had 170 guests and we had tons of room. You don't have to do much decorating because the place is stunning on it's own. We had the perfect day. This venue has to be one of the best in the Medina, Brunswick, Strongsville area. Highly recommend.
We hosted an event at the Waterfall and everything was perfect - seamless from start to finish. The venue and landscaping were beautiful, staff and food from A Taste of Excellence were great! We had a beautiful day and even set up lawn games on the grassy area, our guests had a blast.
Just attended a wedding at Mapleside's Barn! It was absolutely beautiful and the food was AMAZING! The Bride and Groom couldn't have picked a better venue.
Recently had our event at Mapleside Barn and everything was fantastic. From the initial contact all the way through the day of the event, we couldn't have asked for anything better.
Everything at Mapleside was absolutely PERFECT! The grounds were immaculate and it was the perfect place to host my wedding. The staff from both Mapleside and A Taste of Excellence were incredible.
I absolutely loved our wedding at Mapleside Farms! The barn is so beautiful and the views are just breathtaking! The food was delicious and planning was very organized. I would do it all over again, it was the perfect day!
Our company hosted our annual summer event here! We were able to bring games on-site and a live band-- the venue provided adequate space for all our activities and 300 guests! Not only was the venue amazing, but the food was delicious through Taste of Excellence catering. The main event coordinator was very helpful, responsive, and reliable! Our company looks forward to hosting another event here at Mapleside Farms. Oh-- one last thing, the view from the barn is EMACULATE!!
Our wedding couldn't have been better. Our family and guests raved about the food and the venue. Mapleside is the best setting in Northeast Ohio for a wedding. The staff from A Taste of Excellence were amazing!
Truly a unique venue. We had our wedding in the barn and it was AMAZING.
All the modern amenities but still retained the rustic charm we were looking for.
The view of the sunset from the deck must be experienced rather than explained. I've seen the sunset at Mapleside before, but on this day, it was a beautiful storybook ending to a perfect day.
Taste of Excellence did an amazing job and everyone was raving about the food and service.
I can't say enough about our experience. I wouldn't change a thing.
The most beautiful Fall wedding venue you could ever imagine!! Gorgeous interior with chandeliers, wood beams, rustic charm, and a stunning view from the balcony. Worth every penny!
Mapleside Farms gives you an unforgettable wedding. We rented The Barn and had zero regrets! The sunset we had was breathtaking!
Taste of excellence staff made it a little difficult and were very cold and firm during the process. They make you pay for everything, down to each fork lol. End of day we loved every single second so we’d do it all over again if we had to!
The barn was a dream come true and the planning process was so nice, smooth, and we had our perfect day!
The landscape really takes you away into another world almost. Beautiful outdoors and inside.
When planning we worked with Taste of excellence primarily and they are incredible, talented, and passionate people that helped make our so wedding amazing!!
We held our ceremony in the cellar and the reception in the lodge. Both venues are rustic and have a lot of mood lighting! I would have both events there again. The grounds are beautiful as well. We took pictures by the pond and orchard. I would highly recommend this venue. Staff for the event were very attentive and helpful.
This was my #1 pick for a venue when we started looking. I was so excited to go see the place and I truly thought this is THE ONE! I called and talked to Pam to schedule a visit. She asked me my budget for catering and she basically told me that it wasn't doable, but never explained why. I scheduled my tour and an the morning of, I got a message on Google calendar that said family emergency and canceled for the day. I'm very busy so I was disappointed , but things happen. She reached out to me the following week to reschedule and asked me the same questions we already discussed and once again, made me feel like I'm too poor to have my wedding there due to catering. When we calculated it out, it looked like we could afford it. She asked me when we could meet up and it just happened that every date I said, she couldn't meet those days. Only time she had was in the middle of the day during the week. We were constantly going back and forth and I felt as if my business wasn't wanted there and I was being pushed out. I never emailed back and she didn't even try to follow up to see if I was still interested. I'm really disappointed because if I knew why I "couldn't afford it," I could've adjusted my budget to make it work. Maybe I'm crazy, but we are only inviting 125 people (honestly it will probably be closer to 75-80) but $7000-$8000 wasn't enough. 🤷♀️

It has always been my dream to get married at Mapleside however, after working with Karen, I have decided to chose a different venue. We toured the mapleside barn and felt rushed the entire time, almost as if we were an inconvenience. Trying to book a venue is already stressful, but with the lack of communication from karen, it was even more stressful.
We just held my son and his new wife's wedding in The Barn at Mapleside and it was perfect! Planning a wedding during a pandemic was very stressful for all involved, but the staff at Mapleside & their caterers Taste of Excellence, were fantastic! Maddie Coppa was our wedding coordinator/representative and she was great! She kept us informed of all the new changes/restrictions and helped throw a beautiful wedding that we will never forget, while keeping us safe & following necessary health protocols. The Barn is rustic elegance and doesn't require much in decorations. The views are stunning. The food was amazing, from the appetizers to the buffet dinner. The staff were all professional and fun. All of our vendors did a great job putting our vision into place. We would definitely recommend Mapleside and if you can request a representative, ask for Maddie Coppa!

As the mother of the bride I was so impressed with the ability of the staff Making my daughter and son-in-law‘s wedding so special during these difficult times!! An extra thank you to Medeana Hobar Who went the extra mile to make sure everything was done perfectly and treated us like family. Everything was beautiful!!! from the outdoor ceremony, the breathtaking views, and gorgeous wooden structure of the barn and assisting us in putting up our decorations to make the special day just perfect. Thank you
Mapleside is a beautiful venue. They were accommodating to us during these struggling times (covid/2020) and were great with communication. I'm glad I went with them for my venue!! They are worth the experience.
Great venue
Our wedding was at the Lodge and catered by A taste of Excellence. Overall we had a great experience, and have received great comments from our guests about how great the two story location was, how much fun they had, and how enjoyable the food was. We had a lot of help from Medeana Hobar, our coordinator, from A Taste of excellence. She was there every step of the way, from answering silly questions during planning, to helping us avoid the chaos during our special day. Great experience, great wedding, great time.
This venue is absolutely beautiful! Our guests were amazed how amazing this location is. Staff was also great! A little pricey but over very happy with it.
Our venue was BEAUTIFUL and our guests LOVED the ability to come inside and outside. It was air conditioned and actually stayed cold inside the barn even with people walking in and out.
It’s just absolutely gorgeous
Every person we worked with was professional. They made the day go so smoothly. I had no worries at all when we worked with them!
I’ve been drafting this review throughout an entire year of planning a wedding at Mapleside Farms Barn. I want the consumer to ultimately understand exactly what they are getting into, as planning a wedding effectively took up a year of my life. This review is written after many drafts and contemplation.
NOTE: This review is for MAPLESIDE FARMS BARN, not A Taste of Excellence. I will leave them a separate, outstanding review.
Mapleside Farms BARN
Summary: This barn stands on property that has been maintained as an apple orchard and working farm for a century. The owners have very vividly changed hands within the past few years and after many changes and expansions, a beautiful barn venue was built within the last 5 years. What you have here is a stunning, gorgeous, jaw dropping barn venue atop a sweeping, beautiful setting that is run by new, greedy, absent and insensitive people. It is a cash cow for them and nothing else.
Pros: This is THE best barn venue in northeast Ohio. I looked at them all. The only runner up was Rivercrest Farm in Dover, Ohio. I highly recommend looking at Rivercrest if you find Mapleside too difficult.
Mapleside is new, spotless, romantic, charming, rustic, warm and facing the best view you’ll ever find for a wedding in the Cleveland area. Our guests were completely in awe and are still saying that it was the most amazing venue. Did I mention it poured rain all day at our wedding and we could not go outside once? That’s how beautiful it is. Rainy wedding was still a success. Choose Mapleside if your #1 priority above all else is beauty and romance.
Cons: As a reflection of the new owners disinterest in their cash cow of a barn, they hand off 100% of the barn management responsibly to a catering company. While I thought the catering company was the best in Cleveland, they are still... a catering company. They are not barn managers. And while they may scoff at this statement, they know what I’m talking about. As the consumer, you are FORCED to speak to the caterers with every single barn question, which does not always go smoothly. In fact, the barn managers and owners with not only ignore you if you try to contact them, but they will “tell on you” to the catering company and you will have to receive an awkward call from the caterers that makes you feel small and intimidated. It is a very childish, selfish, greedy, disgusting way to run a business. But when you have the corner on the market for barns in Cleveland, why should you have to be kind? Buyer beware that this is the situation. The product of dealing with the caterers with questions in regard to a farm with multiple festivals, concerts, fairs, thousands of families and kids, tons of noise, etc. is that you have to work HARD to get all the info. Example: I visited the barn ½ dozen times before booking it to observe the farm at ceremony time. I witnessed a stalled wedding b/c the bride was too upset to come out because of all the farm noise interfering with her wedding. The security guards told me that she had not been informed of all the farm elements that could be loud during her ceremony. So, I still booked the barn but spent a year (yes, a year) sending follow-up emails to a million people to ensure that would not happen to me.
All in all, we loved our wedding at the Barn. But because of bad farm management, days and days and days of my time were taken up all year over email and phone and this venue became a full time job.
My daughter's wedding was in September at Mapleside Farms. The positive aspects of this venue included a beautiful view of the apple orchard which made for a romantic setting. A Taste of Excellence's (the exclusive caterer for Mapleside) dinner choices that we selected were truly excellent. The catering staff was extremely attentive to our needs during the reception.
The biggest negative was communication. Karen (from ATE) was our contact for both the venue and the caterer. Her communication quite often was abrupt and at times it felt like we were being rushed through our questions/concerns. We booked this venue about 11 months out. Never once were we told that September and October are big festival months at Mapleside. Imagine our surprise when about 3 weeks before our wedding we read about the Johnny Appleseed Festival that was being held that same weekend and drew 20,000 festival goers the year before. This proved to be a logistical headache that we had to work through with the coach we arranged as transportation for the bridal party and our out of town guests. Then, after a requested final walk through we saw a huge 2-3 story slide had been set up close to where my daughter's ceremony would be taking place. I asked Karen if we could have the slide shut down for the ceremony which was only about 30-45 minutes. When we arrived on wedding day Karen told us that security would shut the slide down for the ceremony. Relief? Wrong! Not only did our guests sitting on the left side get to hear the screams from the festival goers going down the slide since it remained open, those sitting on the right side got to hear the very loud music from the other wedding that was taking place at the same time. We were in the Lodge and they were in the Barn so we were right in the middle.
It seems that Mapleside is trying to attract as many different groups as they can to maximize their revenue but are failing to be attentive to each of their needs. We did not think asking for the slide to be shut down for our ceremony was an unreasonable request. We also sent the owners a message about our experience and have yet to hear back from them. Is this a sign that they don't really care since there are no do-overs with a wedding?
The Good:
The venue was BEAUTIFUL. The ceremony overlooked the apple orchard, and the reception venue was clean exactly what we were looking for.
The Bad:
Communication with this vendor is the worst. Because the caterer is your main contact for venue information, we had to *try* to communicate with them for majority of the planning.
I say TRY because the venue coordinator we originally had (who also happens to be the VP of this catering company) could not care less about us. I would email him up to 3 or 4 times the exact same email without a response for a couple weeks. He neglected to tell us that there was a festival happening the day of our event. During our final walk through, he didn’t know any information about our wedding. He conveniently couldn’t find any of the emails I had sent them (probably around 30 at this point)… I honestly don’t think he knew my name because of the lack of information he knew. I sent him my wedding day timeline about a week or 2 before the final walk-through and he was the only vendor not to reply to it, so it probably was not read… and he was 10 minutes late to our final walk-through – the catering office is 2 miles down the road from the ceremony/reception site – VERY UNACCEPTABLE. There is absolutely no reason not to show up to a meeting on time.
Additionally, during our rehearsal, all he did was stand against the fence on his phone. He didn’t introduce himself, he didn’t tell us any information – he did absolutely nothing. At that point, he might has well have not been there.
The communication and frustration was so terrible with the venue coordinator that we had to ask for a new coordinator the week of our wedding.
THEN IN WALKS KAREN:
Karen was our new venue coordinator. She was amazing. She did all the work that the old coordinator lacked and actually communicated the information that needed to be done. Karen even apologized for all the shortcomings that our original coordinator had.
The day of the wedding, she was very attentive and made sure that everything was running smoothly. I can’t even explain how nice it was to have her there!
TL;DR: do not hire this company unless you have Karen, the angel sent venue coordinator.
We rented out the Lodge at Mapleside Farms for our big day. The location and views are amazing! The ceremony stage overlooks the orchards & a small pond. The location was perfect for our wedding!
I had the most incredible wedding at this venue and would recommend it to anyone!
The barn was such a beautiful setting for our big day. Everything about the venue was perfect!
We picked Mapleside lodge for the gorgeous setting inside and and out. Like others said, you don't actually talk with anyone from Mapleside. Taste of excellence staff were the only people we talked to, and they made it go very well.
The air conditioning wasn't working in the lodge. I was miserably hot over memorial day weekend 2018. For the amount of money Mapleside gets for weddings, its time they upgraded their A/C.
Beautiful venue and excellent food! We had a perfect day and Medeana was very easy to work with. She made sure our day was beautiful and exactly as we wanted it!
The site is absolutely breathtaking, which is why my husband and I decided to get married there. I could never say otherwise, however there are things that everyone needs to consider if you want to book there. The "event coordinator" does not actually coordinate the event so much as the food and the set up of the tables. If you get married there, I strongly encourage a booking of a wedding planner there. A Taste of Excellence is the exclusive caterer, and the event coordinator is one of their staff. Mapleside Farms does not talk to clients, TOA talks to you only. The communication form TOA staff is less than amazing. I had one appointment that the staff arrived at 45 min late and he did not call me or alert me at all. They also told us about two months from the wedding that we would have to have a rehearsal on Thursday or during the day on Friday. Thankfully, after we complained at how unfair and unprofessional this was that no one let us know, the rehearsal was able to go on at 4 on Friday. It's my opinion that an "event coordinator" would be in communication about such a detail long before a 2 mo mark before a wedding, but they are really just caterers. I also think that we were often treated as dollar signs versus people setting up one of the biggest days of their lives. Would I do it again? Maybe not, but the views are still amazing. Just have to weigh what's important to you in a site.
While I did not work with any one from Mapleside directly, I cannot rave enough about their venue, the Barn! It is in a jaw dropping gorgeous location, with a beautiful (air-conditioned!) barn. I was in love with the venue from the first time I saw it, and it kept improving from there! They added a pergola (great to have your ceremony under) and added all new landscaping! It was an amazing venue and I have been receiving compliments on it non-stop since the wedding.
We loved Mapleside! We rented the Lodge for our June wedding and was very impressed with the look and feel of the site. They do have two weddings that occur on site usually, the Barn and the Lodge can both have a wedding in it. I recommend displaying a sign at your site saying "the wedding of your name" so guests don't get confused. they have the ceremonies at different times so that they both aren't being interrupted by the other. The sunset and view make for some amazing pictures. During the summer they have concerts on Friday nights so you will have to have your rehearsal on Friday night around the tents and small food tents but it works. My guests loved the look of the place and couldn't stop raving about the view. All in all my husband and I had a great experience with Mapleside and would have another event their anytime.
Listing the Lodge as 'affordable' is fair. Listing the Barn as 'moderate' is completely laughable. I've never experienced being nickel and dimed so much in my life. The number of additional fees piled up quickly and became astronomical. An extra $16 per guest for a chair and a place setting was the cherry on top. Not to mention our event coordinator showed up 15 minutes late with no apology. We had seriously dreamed and planned on getting married here... no more.
The Barn at Mapleside is BEAUTIFUL, so even though there are a lot of poor reviews, I wanted to give it a shot and form my own opinion of it. We also liked the look of the Lodge so we wanted to consider both. I set an appointment through the Knot the tour the venue. Karen from Taste of Excellence emailed me directly saying she was available on date x at time y. I replied directly to her email and said I was confirming firm date x at time y. She replied and said perfect! We went at the scheduled date and time and she never showed up. Someone that worked there had to call her and she said that she never got my confirmation. I thought I must have been going crazy, but I double checked my email and it was there just as I had remembered it. If she had forgotten or double booked, I would have understood if she just apologized to me. We are going to pass on this venue as I cannot trust someone with my wedding who so obviously lies to me. We also felt that the Lodge fit no where near as many people as it said it did. I felt like it would have been crammed with 100 guests.
I could not wait to visit Mapleside when I became engaged. But instantly when we were there visiting the event coordinator lady was rude and disrespectful. She showed us the new barn which was having a wedding in two days and wasn't even ready. She then said she could possibly get us under a 100 a plate and when I told her our budget was 15,000 she flat out said "oh no, you can't afford to have your wedding here" and suggested that we have a cookout for our reception. You can have a beautiful barn wedding for so much cheaper and nice than Mapleside. Look at areas in Akron or even medina. In getting married next October and stayed well under my budget and found a venue a lot cheaper and even prettier than Mapleside. It's not worth the money and stress to have it here.
Mapleside is a gorgeous venue. However, it is not in the slightest bit "affordable" unless you plan on spending at least $50,000 on your wedding. The cheapest dinner option is chicken at $27 per person. However, none of the food options include plates or any silverware. You have to pay for every piece separately (pay for each knife, each fork, each spoon, etc). None of this includes the tables, chairs, or linens. Plus it is mandatory to hire a staff person for every twenty people you have, and you have to pay each of them $18.95 per hour. Then you have to hire a security guard at $200 if theres alcohol, a event manager at $225, a bartender per fifty people at $19.95 per person and per hour. Plus you have to pay all of them for a minimum of eight to ten hours (three hours before the event, all during your event, and an hour after your event). Everything really adds up fast, and they don't work with you nearly as much as they lead you to believe. It feels as if they nickel and dime you with everything. The staff was nice and the food looked good, but it is not worth the ridiculous prices.

Thank you for your review. While we wish everyone could experience the beauty and charm of this amazing venue, it is not for everyone. We do try and work with all budgets by offering off peak discounts which work for many couples. If you wou...

The venue is beautiful! We did our ceremony onsite and reception in the Lodge. However the air conditioning was not working which was one of the reasons we chose to have it there, so that was a little frustrating.
Kaitlyn was wonderful! She was super quick to reply and find a time to show me and my fiancé the venue. She brought copies of the menu options to go over and after emailing back and forth a few times we have the perfect menu. She even customized the bar list for us! I can't wait to see how beautiful it is on our big day!
My husband and I would like to send our sincerest thanks to everyone at A Taste of Excellence for the most enjoyable evening of our life. We couldn't have asked for better treatment, hospitality, flexibility, and understanding from any other catering company.
They knew that we wanted something intimate in a beautiful space and that we did not have much of a budget to work with. Karen and Bekim were so understanding and able to tweak our menu, decoration options, and times, so it fit what we wanted without going over a price that may have been unachievable for us.
All evening we heard our family and friends say how wonderfully they were treated, how beautiful the space was, and how good the food tasted. Our regards to the chefs, catering staff, bartender, and Mapleside for looking out for everyone. After we had put out the centerpieces, finalized the photo booth, set up the ceremony, and made sure the speakers were working properly, all we had to do was enjoy the evening. I cannot express in words just how much love, fun, excitement, and emotions we felt during those 5 hours.
We will recommend Mapleside and A Taste of Excellence to all our friends if they ever need a special event planned.
All our gratitude and appreciation,
Jason and Daniel
My husband and I love this place. The food was excellent and he staff was very helpful. The Lodge is a beautiful venue for any event and we'd highly recommend
I attended a wedding for my niece at Mapleside in October and it was an incredible venue and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants a country-esque wedding in the city.
Do NOT get married at Mapleside. To hear more about my experience please contact TheKnot and ask them for my contact information. Believe me, it was worse than you could imagine. There is not enough room for me to share the whole story...
I was married at Mapleside a couple of months ago and the experience was absolutely terrible. A few days after the wedding, we were asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement which included a non-disparaging clause that would prevent us from sharing our story.
Two months before the wedding, we were informed by Karen that the barn would not be completed in time but the ceremony site was still on schedule to be completed. A few days later I met with the Mapleside general Manager, Josh, and was informed that the new ceremony site would not even be started until after the barn. With it being less than 8 weeks until the wedding, our options were limited for finding a new outdoor ceremony site. Mapleside told us that because of our situation they would make the 22% service fee be only 10%. This was something they had not offered anyone else. Because of what seemed to be an understanding of the situation, we stuck with them and believed what they told us. Then on the day of our wedding rehearsal we received a call saying the discount would no longer apply because it was only a discount if we chose not to use the barn and instead moved the wedding into their lodge. HOWEVER, this was never explained to us and the General Manager, Josh, admits that he never clarified it. So it was quite a shock being handed a contract during the rehearsal for nearly $2,000 more than we expected. It was a few days after the wedding, that we were asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement preventing us from telling our story. If we signed this agreement, we would then get the almost $2,000. Signing an agreement for an amount that was already promised to us felt wrong. We decided that it was more important to warn couples about the downsides of choosing Mapleside than to collect this amount of money. It felt like our silence was being bought for something that we were already promised. If Mapleside wanted to offer us more money for us to sign a NDA with a non-disparaging clause, we would have been willing to do so. BUT we would not be signing something that prevents us from talking about our experience for an amount that we were promised months before our wedding.
This is just one of the MANY problems we encountered.
The main problem is that Mapleside allows Taste Of Excellence to handle all of the weddings. Mapleside simply receives a check from Taste Of Excellence. However, Taste will tell you things that turn out to not be true and Mapleside will not hold them accountable. Taste of Excellence can then simply say "we are the catering company and that is it." while Mapleside can say "we just rent out the property". We feel as though there is not one person in charge and because of that the communication is beyond deplorable.
My husband and I just had our wedding here on July 25,2015. We could not have asked for better service and a more beautiful venue. We still have people talking about how good the food was and how the scenery is absolutely breath taking. I would recommend this venue to anyone and everyone looking to have ANY kind of event here. Stephanie was a pleasure to work with and always got back to me with any questions that I had.
I was not impressed at all for the price. The event coordinator was not pleasant as well.
We booked this venue because of the scenery but were not told about the Friday night concerts & all the equipment it entails like porta potties, signs, gates that were an eye soar for our wedding photos & will cost extra to retouch images to remove. We booked the cellar room while renovations were taking place & were promised a total remodel cement polished floor, rolling barn door, remodeled bathrooms. In the end some paneling was changed out & carpets were cleaned but nothing as spectacular as promised. The "renovations" were not completed till a day before our wedding which was VERY stressful for all involved. The WORST part was the noise level from a party that was booked "last minute" above us. We could not drown out all the banging & chair moving with our sound system. That really disappointed us that no one thought about how a party above would effect our wedding. I emailed 4 employees of the booking company to bring this to their attention but as of today 16 days later I have not gotten a response.

Thank you for your honest feedback. I reached out to you when I received your email but have not had a response.
Unfortunately the rain on your wedding day forced us to relocate your ceremony to the indoors. It was not ideal and we apologize ...
that the venue was not able to accommodate your ceremony with complete privacy or follow through with a timely remodel. I am certain that the owners of Mapleside apologize as well for not meeting your expectations.

The event manager was not the best to work with leading up to the wedding. She was hard to get ahold of and didnt always remember you and your situation. The month before the wedding she was wonderful and very helpful. The rehearsal the night before was terrible. There was a concert and we had limited time and space to rehearse. We went over our number of people allowed in our room for the dinner and they added an extra table and chairs for us. The day of we only had two hours reserved in the outside space so we could only set up an hour before the ceremony. My mother went to set up and there was trash all over from the night before and chairs werent set up. They cleaned everything up and had everything set up for us by our actual reserved time. Overall the ceremony turned out beautiful and the pictures are absolutely breathtaking. We had many compliments on our ceremony site.
Well, we were working with the "event coordinator" for a few weeks before the rehearsal. She was not too friendly and took ALONG time to return phone calls/emails. So, we walk in on the night of our rehearsal and say "we are here for the rehearsal dinner" and get a blank stare in return...the coordinator had been fired and didn't bother making our reservation!!! Luckily for us the general managaer (who we had met previously) was there, remembered us and pulled it all together in about 5 minutes for us! Needless to say, I was a bit stressed, but he really accomodated us. Food is delicious and they have a nice selection of beer and wine.
Easy to work with, great price, and delicious apples!
Maple Side is an apple orchard with a restaurant on site. It was the most beautiful place for a wedding, the were so helpful and cooperative. They made sure everything went as planned, even when my cake did not show up (from an unrelated bakery), they took care of it. I didn't even know there was a problem until after the wedding when my mother in law told me. I would recommend them to everyone! :)
The food was FANTASTIC. The atmosphere was warm. It is an apple orchard - very beautiful. Our guests enjoyed it to much one of them chose Mapleside Farms for HER wedding.
