Choosing Margaret Place was the single best decision we made for our wedding. We'd considered a few French Quarter restaurants, but my husband fell for this space because of how in...vested the team was in making the day ours. We had so much fun at our wedding, and I can’t thank the MP team enough for making the day so perfect. Now, a few of our favorite things:
- The planning team. We booked with Margaret Place because it was immediately clear that Kathleen, the venue manager, knew exactly what she was doing. We trusted her from day one to execute, and we couldn't be more glad we did. We saved hours of research by trusting her (excellent) vendor recommendations, including furniture rentals, florals, and buses. Two weeks before the wedding, we actually parted ways with our outside wedding planner, and Kathleen saved the day by bringing in Jade, Margaret Place's in-house day-of coordinator. Jade was a breath of fresh air after months with a subpar planner. She kept us exactly where we needed to be all day, from getting ready first thing in the morning to putting us all on after-party buses at the end of the night. Thanks to Jade and Kathleen, we actually enjoy our wedding, and are deeply grateful for that.
- The venue. Beautiful, spacious, and private, with a central courtyard and enough distinct areas that no one felt cramped. On the first tour we worried about highway noise given the location, but you couldn't hear it at all once the music started. The space was so gorgeous and unique that we barely needed to decorate (huge cost-saver). We used the courtyard for the ceremony and reception, left the pool uncovered for ambiance, set up a lounge in the secret garden, and gave guests an indoor parlor to relax in. As the bride, walking the balcony above the crowd on my way to the altar was pure drama in the best way.
- The suites. Included in the rental, and a bigger boon than we expected. Arriving in the morning to champagne and a full staging area for me and my bridesmaids took so much stress off the day. The grooms also enjoyed hanging out in their separate suite later in the afternoon.
- The atmosphere. When we first toured, we told Kathleen our top goal was to throw a great party, and lord did she understand the assignment. The result had genuine New Orleans charm but also morphed into a dance party, complete with DJ lighting, sound, and a fog machine. Our friends had as much fun as we did (they started asking when we were renewing our vows a month after the wedding).
- The event staff was exceptional. They used their experience to elevate my suggestions: mini lanterns became stunning table settings, while simple photo boxes were arranged in ways I never would have thought of. They took initiative with the polaroid cameras and every other detail without needing to be directed, which freed me up to actually enjoy the day.
