STAY AWAY and spend your money elsewhere. I spent nearly $15K on what was meant to be a made-to-measure dress, and it arrived enormous (a standard size that had to be cut way down, and never ended up fitting properly), with the wrong straps they ordered... which Marina Morrison blamed on a whole variety of excuses. I had a terrible experience with both the salesperson (Sami) and the owner (Rick); they were rude, negligent, and Rick is flat-out sexist (claiming I must have been "too excited" to understand expectations, that my weight must have fluctuated due to working from home, that I was overly stressed due to wedding planning, etc etc). I could go on and on about how awful my experience was - but all I can say is: just go somewhere else, and save yourself a tremendous headache.
I bought my wedding dress from Marina Morrison in February 2018 and it was by far the biggest mistake I made in the entire wedding process! Truly this company, both Maribel who is the store manager and the owner Rick Wee, were absolutely horrible to deal with. They do not stand behind the products they sell or the representations about quality made by sales associates. Be very careful before you do business with this store. Read every single fabric tag, every single detail on your receipt, etc.
I was a stickler on one point relating to my wedding dress- it had to be made of natural fabrics (i.e. silk) and not synthetic (i.e. polyester). I thought I had lucked out when I found a sales associate at Marina Morrison who happily agreed, even going as far as to say "no one should be married in polyester on their wedding day". I tried on a ton of dresses and eventually settled on a Lihi Hod skirt and top. I specifically asked the sales associate, even though it seemed like a stupid question given the total of my order was north of $6,000, to confirm the skirt's fabric content. She confirmed that of course the skirt was made of 100% silk. I checked the top's tag and noticed it had some synthetic fabric in it, which I was told had to do with the bodysuit portion of the top you can't see (basically underwear).
This is where I made my biggest mistake. I trusted the sales associate and never check the skirt's fabric content tag. I happily signed the paperwork with all sorts of releases of liability on it. I told myself this must be included because finicky brides probably order dresses and try to cancel them all the time; not something I planned on doing so no problem.
I picked the dress up a few months later. I took the skirt and top to my tailor, who was also well aware of my feelings about synthetic fabrics. She informed me immediately upon touching the skirt there was no way the lining was silk and she suspected the outer to be a silk/rayon blend. I was at first stunned, then just totally burst into tears. I wasn't sure who ripped me off- Marina Morrison of Lihi Hod. I thought it could be possible Marina Morrison had no idea the standards at Lihi Hod had dropped and was sure once I told them they'd fix the problem.
Not only did Marina Morrison not fix the problem, they immediately referenced their "No Refund" policy and told me the associate who had helped me pick out my dress had also left the company so there was no way they could verify her claims or help me in any way. I was totally shocked by their behavior and complete lack of empathy for a problem with a product I bought from their store!! I referenced my contract immediately and realized they had written "Crepe" in as the fabric content of the skirt. Crepe is not a type of fabric, it is a type of weave. I hadn't caught this when I signed my receipt. I don't work in fashion and I'm not used to parsing through the details of fabrics and weaves. It was only at this point that I realized why Marina Morrison has such a lengthy release of liability; it has nothing to do with finicky brides and everything to do with poor quality standards and customer service they have no intention of backing up.
Favorite bridal boutique. Not only is it beautiful--in this all white, open-space plan with the best lighting--but they also have the best selections. I saw every single dress I'd saved on Pinterest at Marina Morrison and tried them on, which was epic. They also have beautiful veils! Nora was a pleasure to work with--love her. The only side note: their price range is on the higher end (Oscar, Mira Zwillinger, etc.). Personally, I recommend that every Cali bride go here. When my friends get married, I'm taking them here.
What a wonderful experience, through and through. I normally cannot afford most of the dresses here, but they were the only bridal salon in the Bay Area that carried the dress of my dreams - the Cheyenne by Claire Pettibone (part of her Romantique collection, which is more affordable). I was heart broken when I arrived and the sample size was much too small for me to fit into (I'm a street size 14). However, the staff at Marina Morrison were kind enough to contact the designer to see if she had a larger sample size, and she did! Lucky for me, she was hosting a trunk show there the following weekend. I returned and tried on the dress - it fit wonderfully and I couldn't say no! It was also wonderful to meet Claire herself. Maribel at Marina Morrison is such a wonderful woman - I am so glad she was there throughout each appointment and to help with the alterations process! Nora was wonderful as well. When we ended up needing to return the dress to the designer to get a panel changed out - Maribel handled the situation with class and was truly wonderful. She helped calm down my inner bridezilla :). I'm so glad I had such a wonderful staff to work with! Also, the salon itself is beautiful. Truly a dream like experience every time you go in.
Short story:
I found my wedding dress at Marina Morrison, and had a lovely experience working with them from start to finish. Friendly, professional, and super special. Definitely very expensive, but quality, attention to detail, and smooth coordination was all phenomenal.
Long story:
I started shopping in May 2015 for my late April 2016 wedding. Marina Morrison was the 4th store I visited, and by far the most elegant, airy, and lovely space. The fittings were easy - fun to spend time with the dress on, and they were always helpful and professional. I also ordered my veil. In the end, my dress fit amazingly and the veil was perfect. I couldn’t have been happier with my experience or the end result. I felt special every time I got to go to the store, which was a fun part of the process since so much of wedding planning can get crazy feeling.
Also, the pickup at the very end was super easy and well coordinated! They made it super easy and low stress and brought the gown and bag and hanger in a cute bag all right to the car at the curb. So easy and fun.
Loved being a Marina Morrison bride! Definitely blew my hypothetical budget away, but did so wittingly and it was really worth it to me in the end to know the quality and process was so great.
Just came back from paying my deposit for my dress and I am over the moon in love with it. The space is gorgeous and they have lots of different styles for every bride. The staff is wonderful and accommodating and always offering something to drink. I'd been to a few places in the city such as Jin Wang and Bridal Galleria and decided to try Marina Morrison based on the designers. I went to the salon last week and found some beautiful dresses but none that made me say YES! After I left Savinie emailed me a beautiful blush dress by Victoria Kyrakides that she had just gotten and wanted to show me and it ended up being The One! Even better is that Savinie spent the night on the phone with the designer to make sure everything was as cost effective as it could be and that all my alterations for my body shape would be possible. It kills me that I have to wait 5 months to see it but it will certainly be worth it. Thanks to everyone at Marina Morrison! I wish I could do it again!
I visited 10 salons in 2 different cities (SF and Houston) when I was looking for my dress. I read the great reviews that this salon has so I decided to check it out. I was unimpressed by the selection and the service was not great. My appointment felt very rushed (it was an hour sharp) and the consultant that helped me was not very nice. The stage was shared with another bride (we were literally standing on the stage at the same time) and I did not like this at all especially for a supposedly high end salon. This was actually the only salon that did this and even smaller salons made me feel more special and taken care for. Yes they do have high end designers but it is not a good salon and the selection is not the best. Whoever is giving good reviews either has low expectations or has not visited many other salons and realized that there are way better salons out there which have a lot more to offer. Not the best option in SF (or elsewhere) I suggest visiting but also expand your horizons and check out other salons and you will see what I am talking about.
Marina Morrison is the top of the top in bridal salons. Every experience I had while at Marina Morrison was exceptional, from ordering my gown, to fittings, all the way to picking it up. I knew I wanted something unique and they have an amazing range of unique designers. Claire Pettibone was the designer for me. From the moment I tried on my gown I had the moment where I knew it was the one, and Savinie who was my bridal consultant made me feel at ease through the process. When my gown arrived I had lost around 10 pounds since it was ordered so it needed a lot of work to fit me. Lynn and Maribel worked above and beyond to make sure it fit me flawlessly. It took several appointments and at the end my gown looked fantastic on me. On my wedding day I could not have felt more beautiful. Everyone complimented my gown and how perfect it was on me.
I highly recommend Marina Morrison to find your wedding gown, they will make sure you find a dress as unique as you are and make sure it fits flawlessly for your big day.
Marina Morrison bridal salon is a wonderful experience for bride's looking for high-end designer dresses for their big day. They do have a great range of designer styles for a variety of brides, in my opinion. The service was very personalized and all staff were attentive from the time I bought my dress to my final alterations. Their alterations are impeccable, my Mira Zwillinger dress fit perfectly and was very custom. It was a very special experience overall. Their location and overall feel inside is amazing. I did feel a bit rushed when I was looking for a dress in their salon, however, after my entire experience I just know they run a "tight ship" and need to be time-conscious for efficiency. You are given an hour, which seems to quick but otherwise you would be there all day. I recommend making an appointment and enjoying their amazing dresses!
Marina Morrison has some amazing wedding dresses to try on, and is also a very nice space! It is located on top of Gumps in San Francisco, which is always fun to peruse around.
The dresses are definitely pricey, but you get an amazing experience and they have an awesome selection of designers. I originally went thinking I wanted a Claire Pettibone dress, but ended up leaving with a completely different dress than I had originally envisioned for myself and couldn't have been more excited or happy about it!
Marina Morrison was a stop I made out of town from Ohio to look for one gown in particular, and I ended up falling in love with the perfect dress and the amazing service at the salon that I ordered my dress from them even from Ohio! Intissar worked with me to coordinate the whole process, and it was great! They were all so kind and accomodating that I only wish I had an excuse to go back dress shopping ;)
I absolutely loved my experience at Marina Morrison. Intissar helped me find the perfect dress and I couldn't have been happier with the follow-up fitting appointments. I traveled in from out of town for each of my appointments, and it was well worth the trip - especially if there is a particular designer that you are looking for.
We really enjoyed our experience at Marina Morrison. The service was top notch. The price was high, but their selections were superb.
They worked well with me to make sure my dress fit perfectly the day of. They also custom made my veil and it was gorgeous.
Sabine (hope I'm spelling that right!) was amazing and made the whole experience so fun! They were very attentive to every detail during the fitting and pick up was very easy. I would definitely recommend.
The sales associates are very helpful in terms of helping you find a dress that matches your style and body type. Their price ranges are med-high, but good selections in both categories. On top of that, the space is absolutely beautiful. Great natural light to give you an authentic feel for the look. Also, every time I went there I was the only one in the store, which made me feel extraordinarily special. Other bridal salons I went to I felt like I was just another bride herded in and out. At Marina Morrison, I felt like the only bride that mattered in the whole world.
As a high-end salon, they have an excellent selection of the best of the best.
Their consultants are wonderful.
My consultant, Savinie, put up with me when I had a breakdown in the dressing room about how tough it was for me to pick the dress.
She helped me enjoy the process and choose a stunning dress.
The rest of the staff are great as well, and the seamstress is a magician. My dress came in basically a perfect fit, but I wanted to change some little things and she was a gem.
All I have to say is if you go to the right place, the right dress will be there waiting for you as this was the case . . . I walked into Marina Morrison, I picked 6 dresses to try on, I fell in love with all of them BUT I knew the dress I picked was in in about 30 min's flat.
They are professionals and what they have to offer is only the best.
I started out really loving the place. The people are warm and friendly and the salesgirl I worked with was so sweet. But all the warm and fuzzies started to dissipate as time went on. Over the past year, I must have gone into the salon about 12 times for fittings and "try-ons". 12 times!?! That is not normal.
First off, the dress I ordered was gorgeous. I loved it. I bought it at a trunk show so maybe this was why I had the problem? In any case, when the dress I ordered arrived at the store, they had me come in to "see" it. So I did. Tried it on. Looked like they wanted to confirm that yes, there was an extra foot and a half of length on the dress. Apparently the designer made the mistake? Well, that's what I was told. So they measured and pinned and told me they'd send it back and it would be corrected.
After the dress was back in the salon from the designer, they had me come back and try on the dress to make sure it was corrected. It was but, upon closer inspection I noticed that the top of the dress was not fitting the same flattering way it had when I tried on the sample. The cups on the dress were way too small and extremely unflattering. When I brought this up, they told me that I had tried on a sample size 8 and they ordered me a 6. Why in the world would they do that? Everyone knows that if it fits, you order the same size and take it in. I had photos of me in the sample to prove what I thought it was going to look like. I wouldn't have purchased the dress if it looked the way it did now. So after more discussion and more fittings, they decided to redo the entire bust of the dress. THIS WAS HAPPENING TWO MONTHS BEFORE MY WEDDING!!!! AND THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE ALTERATIONS, EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE AT FAULT BY ORDERING THE WRONG SIZE.
I was so panicked and upset, I went to Bridal Galleria and explained the situation and they helped me find my dream dress. At Bridal Galleria, I had ZERO PROBLEMS from start to finish. I only had a whopping 2 fittings at Bridal Galleria....imagine that.
Anyway, I would definitely not recommend Marina Morrison. Maybe they really are as fabulous as they seem and I was the unlucky one who had a terrible tear-filled experience but I would not wish it upon anyone. I paid well over $5000 for a dress that I will not wear, including over $700 in alterations (which I should not have had to pay for) and it was the biggest mistake of the entire wedding planning process.
Oh, and let's not forget that they almost were going to charge me for the fabric they had to order in order to redo the bodice (which they were redo-ing because they ordered the wrong dress size), but they were so generous in not charging me for it.
I spent thousands of dollars, hours and hours of time away from work, and I am left with a dress that I can't even bear to look at. I dreaded every appointment after the bodice issue was discovered. It was the worst experience of the entire wedding process and I am so sad about it.
Absolutely the best personal service, especially considering that I was from out of state.........I checked out a large number of salons prior to choosing Marina Morrison, and it is definitely #1!
I loved the personal attention at Marina Morrison. They treated me like a queen and the women who work there are not pushy or overly friendly, they are respectful and helpful. The space is also beautiful, it was so fun to try on the dresses and walk around the store. Also, I liked that they had a smaller selection of dresses so that I did not feel overwhelmed.;This is the type of salon where you need an appointment and you can expect to pay around 3-5,000 for your dress. The accessories are beautiful, but expensive!
Willing to negotiate.
I loved their caring approach and patience.
They were willing to go ahead with my ideas, organized, VERY easy to work with and not at all snobby. (I wanted a blue dress, they found one for me)
