de still bother us. We hired her based on her glowing reviews, and unfortunately, we had a wildly different experience working with her. We are detail oriented people, and Paula lacked attention to detail. We were all stressed the entire time working with her. She was disorganized, scattered, confused about plans we had already discussed, incorrectly confirmed details in our contracts, would tell us we were on track one minute and then the next asked why we hadn't decided something yet, and ordered incorrect table settings then blamed the vendor for sending the wrong item. Our rehearsal was a nightmare. She couldn't figure out how to get the wedding party in and out of the pews in the correct order, and my bridesmaids had to step in and take over. We spent over double the "ouch" budget we gave her. She did recommend amazing vendors like our photographer and florist, yet she did not make sure all details in our contracts were carried out accordingly. She was rude to the catering staff who, yes, were making mistakes, but yelling obscenities at them only made it worse. I will give her credit for helping me fix my dress when the liner came out. Her team was very helpful, and they took great care of our items/decor that were packed up at the end. Yet our wedding cake top tier was dropped and smashed. Paula was nice at first, but when we held her accountable for her mistakes, she refused to discuss anything further and blamed everyone else. At the end of the day, we had a beautiful wedding and our guests had a fabulous time (because they didn't plan it, so they didn't know what went wrong). But when you know exactly what you want, communicate it, agree upon it, and it still isn't right, it left us annoyed on our wedding day. Not the ideal way to feel at your wedding. Of course I didn't expect everything to be perfect, knew some things were bound to happen, and don't blame her for things outside her control (like the weather...it rained and we had to scrap plan A for a never really discussed plan B). But overall, I would highly advise against hiring Paula, especially if you have a clear vision and know exactly what you want. I think she is a planner for someone who has no idea what they want or someone who doesn't particularly care about details. As much as we regret hiring her, the saving grace and silver lining was having her introduce us to our photographer. He breathtakingly captured our wedding so perfectly that we will always be grateful for the memory of what went right.

Paula and was immediately excited to work with her! Both her and Lisa were warm, reassuring, and professional the entire lead up to the wedding - I felt that I was truly in good hands! They both had so many ideas on how to make our wedding personal and special and totally understood my design vision. Paula very calmly and patiently told me that my job was to let go. This was difficult for me to do as I am a former event planner myself. to enumerate here. Ever since our initial consultation, Paula understood us and our personalities perfectly, and tailored their service to our needs. They handled all of the nitty gritty stuff that we didn't need to know, but gave us full creative control over all the big picture decisions. And in some cases when they could tell we were struggling to make decisions, they helped exactly the right amount to guide us to a decision we were happy about and confident in. On the day of, the event ran far more smoothly than we could even imagine possible. Due to rain, we unfortunately had to make the decision on the morning of to move the ceremony indoors. Alison made this transition perfectly seamlessly, getting the chairs and DJ and officiant and live streaming and all of our guests all ready indoors; we didn't have to lift a finger. And you would've thought we had been planning this beautiful indoor ceremony for months! It was also unexpectedly cold for a late spring day in Boston, and all of our female guests in dresses would have been freezing, if not for the Marrero Events team driving around town on the morning of to buy thick blankets for all of our guests. Both in planning and in day-of coordination, Paula and Alison made our wedding day everything we wanted it to be and more. We couldn't be happier or more impressed with their service, and we would 100% recommend them to all couples!

After arriving at the venue, we realized that we left the marriage license at her parent’s house – no problem. We got to the venue and noticed that the dance floor was a fraction of the size that it should have been – again, no problem. Every item that arose on the day of our wedding, Paula and her team took care of, allowing my wife and me to enjoy the moment and the party that we took a year putting together. Second, Paula takes the time to get to know you and your spouse-to-be. She understands that there are different personalities coming into the equation, along with different traditions and cultures. She takes your vision as her own and helps you put together YOUR wedding, not A wedding. Third, and I cannot stress this enough, she got my wife (who has the quintessential Type-A personality) to relax. Leading up to our wedding, Paula forced my wife and her mother to relinquish control of certain projects. Both of them thanked her for doing so. I know this is what Paula does every day, but she treated us like we were the most important wedding she had ever done. She was also very patient with our need for perfection. Paula took care of *everything* - not only did the entire event run completely smoothly, sight unseen, but we were blown away by every single vendor she suggested. After extensive internet searches, my spreadsheet included 12 wedding planning companies with the highest accolades. I did phone interviews with each of them. The first time we spoke with Paula Marrero, I appreciated her tell it like it is, yet kind professionalism. We hired Paula for full service coordination of our wedding and it was the best decision we made. Paula is an incredible person. Not only does she know what she is doing and has a fantastic reputation within the Boston wedding industry, but she is also fun, smart and genuinely cares about the couples she works with. Any engaged couple can do Google searches for the “best wedding photographer” or “best venue”. The reason you hire Paula is that she knows everyone in the industry AND she knows what their personalities are like. She knows who you will enjoy working with and who you won’t. Paula and her right-hand woman, Isabelle, helped us created the wedding I had dreamed of. It was perfect in every way possible. Marrero Events helped with every aspect of the weekend of our wedding from rehearsal to rehearsal dinner to the day of the wedding. We loved every minute of our wedding and could not have imagined doing any of it without Paula and Isabelle. Wedding planners are expensive, but think of it like a realtor. You can sell or buy a home without a realtor, but the process is messy and complicated. She recommended the best vendors and was our biggest advocate and point of contact with all our vendors including our venue, which was very difficult to work with. She could always tell when I was stressed and knew exactly what to say to reassure me or help me in any way possible. Hiring Marrero Events was the best decision we could have made! Paula and her staff were the opposite of pushy - they gently guided us through the whole process of planning our wedding and only stepped in to take over when we wanted them to. Every vendor they recommended was absolutely superb, and for the few vendors we picked on our own, they worked with them seamlessly. They were extremely responsive to our emails and helped us with everything from finding a spot for the rehearsal dinner that could accommodate our big families to figuring out how to get our dog to the venue so he could walk down the aisle! During the wedding weekend, I honestly did not stress about a single thing; I just enjoyed every moment like it was some kind of dream. Everything went so smoothly, and I was completely relaxed knowing that if there were any glitches, Paula's team was dealing with them behind the scenes. Teresa did an awesome job handling a ton of details and exuded total calm and competence throughout the weekend. We have had so many compliments about our wedding; so many friends and family have gone out of their way to tell us it was among the best (if not the best) wedding they've been to. I credit Paula and her team for everything coming together so beautifully and with so little anxiety and stress on our part. If you are wondering whether or not you need a wedding planner, do yourself a favor and go with Paula and her team! You will not regret it!
