We held our rehearsal dinner and welcome party at the Marriott at the University of Dayton. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The event coordinator, MaryRuth, was wonderful to work with. Overall, this was an amazing experience! We also used the hotel for our wedding block, and all of our guests were pleased throughout the weekend with the hotel and the service.
We had our wedding at the Marriott this past weekend. The stay in general was amazing, but they truly went over the top to accommodate us. I (the bride) had a breakdown from stress (weird, right?) and Joe at the bar took great care of me. The whole weekend he remembered me and was always so kind.
Pam was the bartender for the reception and she was the best! She was so nice and made sure to find me and hook me up with the last cocktail before the bar closed.
MaryRuth was extremely helpful though out the whole planning process and the staff in general were so great!
We used the Marriott at the University of Dayton as our hotel block and location for our after party and it was one of the best decisions we ever made! The staff was so courteous, helpful and flexible during our COVID-wedding planning process. We received constant updates about our room block and they allowed us to make edits to our plans as the COVID guidelines evolved. Our guests were thrilled with the accommodations, location and service. We had "goodie bags" that we wanted passed out to each guest and they did an amazing job delivering these treats for us. Two people who helped make our experience fantastic were Jodi and Kenny. They were so accommodating and they worked with us to make sure we could still safely celebrate after our reception. We were already "forever customers" but now our guests and friends are too! Thank you, UD Marriott!
We received many compliments on how wonderful the food was (flat iron steak, mahi mahi, and asiago chicken). The venue (tradewinds) was the perfect size for our guest count (~85) and could comfortably hold at least 20 more. The waitstaff were professional and punctual. The wedding coordinator was very knowledgeable about every detail and was reassuring the day would be perfect. A few things were “promised” and not delivered, but it did not spoil our magical day! Highly recommend!
Hotel just remodeled and looks amazing. The catering staff was wonderful. Food was great. The event coordinator/catering manager Katie was incredible— very communicative.
However, it was expensive ($13,000 food and beverage minimum BEFORE tax and an insanely high service charge).
Also, the front desk staff was awful. I arrived the day before and they wouldn’t let me in my room despite having organized early check in. The young man, Hunter, was very rude and didn’t apologize or say anything at all really. When I left in tears, I heard him complain about me to a coworker. So unprofessional. They also gave some guests incorrect information (that my room block was totally booked when it wasn’t!), booked people for the wrong day, and overcharged. I had to call six times for one of my guests. Very irritating. Thank goodness for Katie, she did fix most issues.
The Marriott at UD was the wedding of our dreams! We both had gone to UD and even got a discount for this, everything was beautiful and Katie was the best wedding coordinator we could ask for!
The only issues we had were with booking rooms, there was some miscommunication with those responsible for making sure that all guests could request the room rate and that a current list of available rooms was kept. I would still give this venue 5+ stars because Katie helped us figure everything out and all our guests were able to receive a room at the group rate (over 70 rooms).
The night could not have been more perfect and if I had to pick any wedding coordinator for my day it would be Katie. We were communicating all year up to the wedding and she was always available for any questions me or my family had. You can tell she truly enjoys her job and wants every bride and family to have the best day ever. All the other staff were amazing as well, so much fun! We wish we could do it all over again. The perfect venue for any UD couple especially if you have a lot of friends and family traveling to be there. One quote from a family member "this is the nicest hotel room I have ever stayed in!"
I would always recommend the Marriott at UD!
My husband and I just got married at the Dayton Marriott and it was everything we could have ever imagined. Katie made sure everything went smoothly. She worked with us from the beginning to make sure we got everything we wanted. The food was amazing, the staff was courteous and kind, and the facilities were beautiful. I wouldn't have changed a thing!
The UD Marriott was amazing to work with for our wedding weekend- Danielle handled everything and was awesome. The rooms are incredible and the service and price were also great. Highly recommend using them for an event! There was a pool for the kids and a good workout room too. Rooms were very high end finishes (it's undergoing construction but was almost done the weekend of our wedding) and they were incredible to work with. Definitely recommend them!
We reserved a block of rooms for our guests and rooms for us to get ready and stay the night after. We had problems from the beginning and they never ended. They weren't giving people the group rate, the link didn't work for people to book rooms, customer service was telling our guests the block was full and they couldn't get the group rate when it wasn't even close. The people "managing" our room block kept getting shuffled which resulted in wrong price quotes and incorrect information. Finally, because we had so many problems, our group rate was lowered. This was also because the rate listed on their website was lower than our group rate and my guests were confused as to what the "special rate" they would receive at the hotel.
Once the night before comes up, bride checked in and was given the wrong room. After discussion with staff on site, we were upgraded to a bigger suite. Day of the groom checked in and the room wasn't ready, he was given the original room the bride had checked into.
After everything, the final blow was that the mother of the bride came back after the wedding and $200 cash was stolen out of her bag. The manager is able to see key swipes as to who enters the room. You see the last family member swipe and leave the room. Then the maid slides her card. She was the only one in the room after mother and father of bride had left. The money was in a closed suitcase so she was clearly rummaging through items.
The hotel did take money off their final bill but the entire experience was horrible and unprofessional. I would never recommend anyone to use them for wedding services. Or to stay there with that kind of staff.
We had a terrible time with service at this hotel. Every time we needed to speak with someone it took multiple phone calls and emails. At one point the website for our hotel block stopped working. They made us a new one, but that messed up the room count in our block, which meant we had to make several more phone calls to make sure we received our free shuttle. When we complained the did give us a TON of rewards points though.
We selected them because they were VERY close to our wedding venue. The rooms were good and the hotel staff we saw during our stay (front desk, maids, restaurant staff, shuttle driver) were great. It was clearly a service problem at higher levels.
They also did not have free wifi, which seemed odd since it's such a simple service to offer.
My husband and I had our reception at the Dayton Marriott. We were very impressed from day one with the level of customization and amount of time that the events staff invested in helping us plan out our details. We ended up with quite a few last minute changes as well as guest accommodations and the Marriott delivered on every single one. The food was very good - many of our guests were very complimentary. The service was great - my husband and I missed our cocktail hour so the staff had appetizers and drinks waiting for us at the head table. The set up was lovely and we were even able to bring in a friend to play their piano during the cocktail hour. The Marriott assembled our centerpieces for us and they looked perfect. We we able to transform the patio area into a cigar lounge for our after party. When it started raining, we went into Gambits, the bar inside the front of the hotel, and people continued to have fun. Seriously, we paid a little more than we had originally budgeted, but it was so worth it! We had an awesome time and so did our guests. I cannot give this vendor a better endorsement.
The Marriott Dayton has exceptional service and beautiful rooms and amenities, but is somewhat on the expensive side of wedding reception locations.
Jim and Maureen made my reception perfect. I did not have to lift a finger the day of my wedding. They had everything set up just the way I wanted and it looked beautiful. Jim even ran to our car for us because I forgot the slide show disk. The floor staff was flawless during dinner. I can not say enough about the service of the Marriott and the food was excellent.
