We chose Marriott Marquis Houston as our host hotel for our daughter's wedding. Her wedding took place at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and her reception was held at Hughes Manor, but our wedding party, our out-of-town guests, and our family and ourselves stayed at the Marquis for the weekend. The Marquis customer service and facility are outstanding! We and our guests thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We reserved a "hospitality suite" and adjoining guest rooms, which proved to be a spectacular accommodation for the bride and bridesmaids to prepare for the day of the wedding. Our hospitality suite was an absolutely ideal space for hair and make-up prep and wedding morning brunch. Our photos are gorgeous, enhanced by that phenomenal VIEW!
The only glitch, thus 4 stars instead of 5 ( and really should be 4.5) The front desk had listed all 20+ rooms in our block in our name instead of in the names of the individual guests who made the reservations. My husband arrived ahead of me and was actually unable to check in to our room because the reception desk staff did not know which room was ours. He had to wait in the lobby 20 minutes for me to arrive from the bridesmaids luncheon across town with the downloaded spread sheet I had received from the hotel room block coordinator, who was unavailable the weekend of the wedding. Several guests confirmed similar difficulty with check-in, and we are still sorting out the Marriott points due to my husband's account for the weekend.
I'm not sure how a hotel so otherwise outstanding in every other way managed to botch the room block and check-in procedure, but this was the only downside. The Marquis is gorgeous, and every staff member we encountered from the receptionists to the M Club servers to the housekeeping maids were professional and delightful.
