I booked a block of hotel rooms at the Marriott Saddle Brook for my June 2021 wedding. The initial booking process was great, but I would not recommend this hotel to other brides due to the multitude of issues they gave me in the days before my wedding, as well as during our stay.
I will start off by saying Shay Ahmed, the booking coordinator, was excellent to work with, and this review is in no way a reflection of her and her work. She was in touch with me from when we initially booked, to the day we checked out, and it is unfortunate that she had to be the middleman and give me all of the bad news in regards to our stay. She did everything within her power to make everything work for us, but unfortunately, Marriott’s corporate greed and lack of concern for their customers was completely beyond her control (Thank you Shay, for all the ways you tried to help!
When we signed our contract, we were told that the bar would stay open until 2am with a wedding block booked (a bartender fee was never mentioned), and that we would be able to host a brunch in the bar area of the hotel, and pay the bill for our guests when we check out. There was no room-setup fee with this option, as we were going to use the bar area.
The week of my wedding, when everything should have been finalized already, I received a phone call from Shay informing me of the following;
1- The kitchen for the hotel would not be open, and if we wanted to have a brunch, we would have to pay an additional $200 fee to set up a conference room, and have food catered from an outside company. I did not have the time one week before my wedding to find and book a caterer, so we went with the company they recommended , Bagel Run in Saddle Brook - absolutely terrible.
2- The hotel would not keep the bar open past 10pm, thus not allowing us to have an after-party. They tried to blame Covid, but this was obviously a money-grabbing scam, because the restrictions and curfews had already been lifted at this point, and when I tried to argue, they said that they will keep the bar open, but that we would have to guarantee a $500 bar tab, or pay the difference, in addition to paying a $150 bartender fee. (We stayed at the hotel the night before our wedding, and the bar stayed open with their regular bartender until 2am, and there was no wedding party there.)
So it is now 1 week before my wedding, and I had to come up with all of this extra money to pay for things that were not part of my original contract. This was not the added stress I needed when everything should have been finalized at that point.
The shuttle company we booked through them (Platinum CLS) was also an absolute disaster. We had to start my ceremony 40 minutes late because our officiant was on the shuttle, and the driver refused to leave until the shuttle was full, even though they were contracted to do continuous loops for 90 minutes.
The front desk staff did not do a great job distributing the hotel welcome bags we worked so hard on. Several guests had to go back to the desk and request the bags because the staff forgot about them.
Also, when we checked our final bill, the $150 “bartender fee” suddenly became $195, with additional fees that were never discussed. The hotel itself was decent enough, but they tried to scam us out of so much money, and created so much unnecessary stress just days before my wedding, that I would never wish on another bride. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your hotel block.
I highly recommend the Marriott in Saddle Brook. We did a hotel room block and (almost 70 rooms) and all my family and friends enjoyed their stay. Myself and the bridesmaids used the Governs Suite to do hair/make-up and it was perfect. It was the perfect space for everyone to get ready comfortably. There are also shuttle included to and from your venue (if the venue is close enough). We got married at the Venetian so it was so great to have the shuttles for our guest to and from the wedding! We also had our Welcome Dinner and Post-Wedding Brunch at the Marriott. Both events were flawless - the food was delicious and the staff was most gracious. Highly recommend! Ask Shay to help with the room blocks and she will make sure to have everything perfect!
Attended a wedding there in July 2016. Cocktail hour was in a long hall way, maybe about 10 seat for 100 guests. Very skimpy. Dinner - fish was OK, but the chicken was so dry we had to ask the waitress if there was gravy in the kitchen she could bring out. The beef was served barely warm. No Venetian Table and the wedding cake was dry. One bartender and there was always a line for drinks. If they paid more than $60 a head, they got robbed
After looking at hotel after hotel and not finding what I was looking for in a hotel for my wedding guests to stay I finally came to the Saddle Brook Marriott. The Saddle Brook Marriott had it all. The lobby is on a grander scale and has a modern more luxurious feel upon arrival. There was a very nice and spacious bar that was used by guests both before and after the wedding. The rooms are large and comfortable and the suite offered plenty of room for my husband and his groomsmen to get ready in without feeling cramped. I worked directly with Kathi who works in Sales and she was absolutely FANTASTIC to work with. She is so incredibly nice and friendly and she made us feel comfortable from the start. I trusted her to make sure everything went smoothly and she did not disappoint! Kathi always got back to me and made me feel confident that all was going according to plan. Welcome bags were distributed as requested and my guests were very pleased with their stay! Overall, the hotel was a perfect choice for our guests and ourselves to retreat to after our wedding festivities! Highly recommended!!
The rooms at Saddlebrook Mariott are nice and the breakfast in the morning was great.. HOWEVER, booking was unorganized and we weren't kept informed. I felt like my fiancee and I were bothering them every time we called to ask how many rooms we had. They also didn't respond that fast to us. THEN two days before our wedding we dropped off our hotel bags and we had a name on our room block that wasn't familiar. They couldn't help us in finding out who the person was who booked. So weird. AND the next day after the wedding, they were going to keep our left over hotel bags!! Thank goodness my mother saw the remaining ones still behind the counter at the check in desk. I was very disappointed with them. They also don't offer a shuttle. We had to find our own transportation for our guests. The only reason why we booked was because it was close to our venue. We ended up only using 11 rooms so they said they wouldn't comp the bride and grooms room.. we needed 15. LASTLY, the night of the wedding, the bar wasn't open when we got back and when we tried to hang out in our rooms we got security called on us several times like we were high school students. We were told we had to sit lobby. We really weren't that loud .. and aren't all the rooms in a block near each other? so who would be complaining if we were? All in all very disappointed.
We had our wedding reception at the Saddle Brook Marriott on Friday, June 12, 2015 in the ballroom. The staff was absolutely amazing and made our experience better than we would ever have imagined! Not only was I treated like a queen, but my guests were treated like royalty. I was so impressed with everyone involved.
Renee Giordano-Danzi was heaven sent, she supported me through the entire process and I’m not sure i would have survived without all her guidance. Her attention to detail was impeccable. I will be highly recommending the Saddle Brook Marriott. Thank you for the beautiful memories....
Kelly Lindquist, the catering director was great! We had our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception there. It was a beautiful winter wedding. I was thoroughly happy with the service from the wait staff and everyone at the Marriott
We were very pleased with the service and the accommodations.
My husband spent the night before our wedding and they allowed him to upgrade to the suite because it was not book. He was much more comfortable than had he stayed in a regular room.
We were happy there was a bar and not a loud club to come back to at the end of the night and socialize with our guests.
My guests were happy and so were we!
This hotel is very nice, clean and modern. As soon as I walked in to see it, I knew that I wanted my guests to stay here. I worked with Juan and he was so nice and accommodating. He answered all of my questions and was very pleasant to work with. The staff was very friendly. They also have a bar that stays open until 2am, which was a huge plus. None of the other hotels in the surrounding area were as nice as this one and had everything that we needed.
