Masterson’s Catering

They were very nice to work with and the food was fantastic! Beforehand we were offered a very nice tasting to be able to make our selections for the day off! The service staff for the night of was great as well!

We had our reception at The Olmsted who uses Masterson's Catering. Everyone always says, "you don't eat at your wedding, there isn't enough time," that is simply not true! We ate and it was delicious! I absolutely recommend this food to you!

My husband and I got married in June at the Gheens Foundation Lodge. After meeting with several caterers, we opted to go with Masterson’s because a friend recommended them. From the start, Masterson’s seemed great. We were able to meet with them to discuss our vision for food at the wedding and they drew us up some different estimates based on things we had talked about. We ended up changing several things around, and they were good at communicating back and forth with me in order to make those changes and draw up new estimates. Our tasting went absolutely amazing and we were sure everything was going to go off without a hitch on the big day! With that being said, we were not overly impressed with the service they actually provided on our wedding day. I will say that they set up the food absolutely beautifully and I was very impressed with that aspect of their service — it was just how I imagined. They even set up a display for our donuts that were purchased through a separate vendor, which was extremely helpful! The only issues that we really had came with the amount and the quality of the food they served at my wedding, which at the end of the day was the most important part to me, personally. Several of the dishes that should have been served warm were cold and they ran out of several items as well. I’m not really sure how this ended up happening seeing as they had an accurate guest count, and it was a bit disappointing considering how much money we were paying. I can understand that there should be some room for error with any vendor, after all, we’re all human! Still, I felt like there were too many instances of issues with the food to simply excuse, and I wish that my guests could have had a better dining experience at my wedding. Overall, I would say that the service Masterson’s provided was pretty average, especially when it came to the actual day. Would not necessarily recommend using or not using them as a vendor, but I would recommend considering all of your options before deciding. Ultimately, we ended up feeling a bit like we paid big money for mediocre results.

My wedding was this weekend at the Gheen's Foundation Lodge. Masterson's came the day before to set up linen and get a handle on the layout before hand. They told me that they were going to roll in around 3pm, but upon arrival around 2:30 they were already there setting up! This team is AMAZING! They came in ready to roll, were set up so quickly. My photographer had a few areas he wanted to take photos in and they were more than accommodating when we asked if we could move things and even helped. All of my guests were happy and well fed, and I believe they ate through all of the tenderloin!! The bar adjusted our specialty drink for everyone's preference (our out-of-towners don't drink bourbon often) and they even made sure that my Groom and I got the last of it, how thoughtful was that?!?! We did passed salads to start the evening off and it allowed all of my guests to start eating, and allowed single table dismissal and kept the buffet table at a nice flow, no back ups or crowding. I don't believe I heard anyone complain about waiting in line at the buffet line, or about any of the food being over cooked or bad. I highly suggest passed salads if you are considering a buffet!! DO IT! I cannot rave enough about the wonderful staff, everyone was so excited for me and my groom, complete strangers were hugging me, congratulating me, and all around happy to be there! We also stuck with the family and did our Rehearsal Dinner at Captain's Quarters Riverside Grill and it was amazing as well. Awesome staff, awesome views, and awesome food.

Kristina was great to work with. She put together a great menu sampling and we had a hard time narrowing down our selections! Food was terrific and service was excellent. Everything moved seamlessly at the reception. They put together a great "to-go" bag for the bride and groom that we weren't expecting. It was such a nice touch.

Mastersons was especially easy to work with, the food was delicious and they helped me work within my price range. They were also very accommodating to last minute additions and changes. They helped make everything perfect and were so professional! I don’t know why’d anyone would have any other caterer!

Overall, I think when things go well with Masterson’s they are great. When they do not go well, they are awful at service recovery. Take your chances that things will go well. Pros: -they coordinated our food, cake, table settings and linens, and everything for the bar, which is why we chose them- we had an out-of-town wedding and wanted one-stop shopping -they were great about accommodating our request for a biscuit bar with custom signage -food (BBQ) was good- we got a lot of compliments Cons: (all customer service related) -though Sueanna told me they would be at our venue at 2:30 on the day of the wedding (and confirmed that in her final quote), they did not show up until 3:30. We called at 3 and were told it was our mistake- that they were never going to be there at 2:30. This left a photographer with nothing to photograph and a florist with no place to put flowers -our wedding was at Buffalo Trace Bourbon Distillery. We paid extra to serve bourbons that were made there. Our guests (not her staff) informed us we were “out of bourbon” an hour into our reception. My husband was berated by bar staff when he asked them about it. No attempt was made to get bourbon for the rest of the wedding. -Sueanna did not call us to apologize for not having bourbon at our wedding AT A BOURBON DISTILLERY, because “you’re being unfair, I would never call you on your honeymoon”. She claims instead she asked her on-site lead to tell my husband to call her. We didn’t get the message. -Sueanna only had excuses on the phone when we finally got in touch- the bourbon had apparently been left on the loading dock at the warehouse. “My staff didn’t tell me in time,” “it was a stupid mistake,” “there was traffic between here and there,” and my favorite, “we couldn’t air-lift bourbon to your wedding” - my husband was the initial one to call Sueanna, she decided that a $500 reimbursement was fair, since she estimated that that’s how much our guest drank in the time after the bourbon ran out. A few weeks later, we still had not gotten the refund. When I called, I was told “well, you really should have called us sooner.” After my conversation with Sueanna, she ended up refunding us $700. Every wedding has things that go wrong. We had others that did, but this is the ONE that still upsets me now, 2 months later, all because of the way it was handled.

Everything was absolutely perfect! I was blown away with how beautiful and tasty it was. The service was impeccable. I’ve heard from several guests that this was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. And I agree!

Food was great, they set up and broke down with no issues, I did have a coordinator so I didn't interact with the staff much, but they were pleasant from what I did and received no complaints from guests. We used them as our bartender and provided our own alcohol, and that service was less than great. The girls behind the bar did not seem to know exactly what they were doing. To start one of my guests had to tap our kegs because they didn't know how to do it, they seemed overwhelmed any time I was in the bar area and they improperly told guests they were out of alcohol so I ended up with almost an entire case of wine to take home. Otherwise they were reasonably priced and the service and food was good.

We use Masterson‘s for food and bar. Outstanding all around !! I worked with Kristina as my coordinator with Masterson’s. She was wonderful! I will always highly recommend mastersons.

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Masterson's Catering from start to finish. The staff helped us stay within budget, while ensuring the food and decorations matched our intended wedding image and "vibes." Sueanna was extremely kind, patient, professional, and helpful throughout the entire planning process. The food was also extremely delicious and our guests were delighted with our pasta bar and various appetizers. Highly recommend!

Mastersons was one of my favorite vendors to work with! It was so easy to talk with Kristina and to get all of the small details completed. I began this process with no idea what type of food I wanted and kristina had created a menu for us and let us have 2 different tastings! I had no issues at all with them and the service was impeccable. All of the vendors that received a meal had said it was one of the best dinners they’ve gotten! I still hear about how great the mac&cheese was. Can never go wrong with that! Everyone was so professional that served and someone even brought me out my Hors d oeuvres while we were taking pictures! The servers made sure we were taken care of and brought us anything we needed, even drinks! Can’t recommend Mastersons enough! Some people say they’re priced to high but you get what you pay for! They are extremely professional and have high quality food.

Masterson's catered our rehearsal dinner at The Muhammad Ali Center. There are not enough words in the world to describe how wonderful they were to work with during the planning stages as well as the night of the event. The food was outstanding and the staff was so professional and went out of their way to make our guests comfortable.

My husband and I worked with Kristina and she was incredible! She communicated with us well and responded quickly to our questions. We were so pleased with the variety of meals to choose from and how delicious everything was. Our guests raves about our food! We chose to serve desserts by Masterson’s instead of cake and our guests didn’t seem to miss cake. Masterson’s also provided bar services and we definitely got our money’s worth! Masterson’s was also able to provide ceremony chairs, table linens, flatware and silverware and high top tables. It was so easy to work with just one vendor for all these things! We hope to use Masterson’s again in the future for parties!

Masterson's saved us after the caterer our venue required us to use went out of business 3 months before our wedding. They came through with extremely short notice at a very reasonable price point, and the food was amazing. They helped us put together a vegetarian, Southern food menu that our meat-eating guests loved. People still talk about the biscuit bar! Thank you, Masterson's!

My experience with Masterson's catering was different than how most bridal experiences are with catering. My venue required me to use their exclusive caterer, which ended up going out of business 5 months before my wedding. I was then left with a list of new caterers to choose from. I knew being 5 months until the big day, most of those companies would be booked up (as well as most of them were more expensive than what I had budgeted for with the original company). I had heard many great experiences about Masterson's as well as been to events that were catered by them. My mom quickly contacted them to see if they were available for my date. Brian was extremely nice to my worried & stressed mother. He was willing to work with our previous budget and helped us pick out similar food options. He quickly scheduled us a meeting to sample the food to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. The big day came and everything was perfect & fell into place. The servers and bartenders were so friendly. They made sure my husband and I had a plate waiting for us when we go to our table after pictures as well as brought us pitchers of our favorite drinks!! They kept checking in on us to make sure we were full or to see if we needed another drink. The appetizers, buffet, drinks, everything tasted AMAZING. ALL of my guests still talk about how good the food was to this day!!! Highly recommend Masterson's for any of your catering needs!!

They did. A great job of comprehensively walking us through their services and options before hand. On the day of the wedding, they were efficient and the food was delicious. 5stars all around.

Although I was so busy that I didn't get to enjoy most of the food/drinks at my wedding, SO many guests have told me it was the best wedding food ever - especially the mini hot brown crostinis and the chicken florentine! I know at my tasting everything was delicious - so I trust them. The bartenders were all so friendly, and we loved having a specialty bourbon bar with top shelf selections. Kristina was so easy to work with, and never tried to push me out of my budget. Definitely recommend going with Mastersons :)

The Olmsted was the perfect choice for our wedding! From start to finish, Jeri and Claire were so pleasant to work with. They were responsive, helpful and accommodating. We planned our wedding from out of state, and Jeri was very flexible and met with us for planning meetings when we were available. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and our guests loved it! The food couldn't have been better. We had several people tell us it was the best catered dinner they've ever had. The service staff the night of our wedding were on top of everything and made everyone feel like they were VIPs. If I had 10 stars, I would give it to The Olmsted!

The Olmsted is a beautiful venue with a magnificent staff. Jeri and the others did everything in their power to make our wedding the best day ever! Also, the olmsted has so many things included in their pricing so it helps while budgeting!

I could not have imagined a more perfect location for our wedding reception. Even before we knew that we were going to need a large space for a venue, we were confident that we wanted to use The Olmsted. We have been to a few weddings there before and heard nothing but amazing things about the location, the staff, the catering, and Jeri! Jeri helped us along the way and made the process so easy. Even though things came up along the way that changed ours plans, she never seemed put out or bothered by the changes made. She had the goal of making our families happy. I couldnt imagine our day going as perfect as it did without her! Masterson's was flawless. We had plated meals with the choice of chicken or beef and every single guest was served their correct order. We heard so many compliments on the food as well! Everyone from the staff to the bartenders were attentive and provided excellent service. It was so nice to sit back and enjoy the wedding, feeling confident that everything was run smoothly.

The Olmsted was the perfect venue for our May wedding. Jeri and Claire were easy to work with and listened to all our questions and suggestions. The setting was stunning, the food was delicious, and the service was a 10. In fact, guests were commenting on how attentive the staff were. Jeri worked with me on an unusual signature cocktail request that turned out to be a hit. My husband and I even received a care package with samplers of all the appetizers and two pieces of each cake flavor.

I cannot say enough great things about Jeri and her staff at The Olmsted! The space, resources, catering, and staff were absolutely wonderful to work with and made my dream wedding come to life!

Masterson's was a great fit for our wedding at the Louisville Palace! The Palace did have an in-house caterer that we decided to use just because it was easy. That was until about a few months before the wedding they cut all ties with this caterer and we were left without anyone to provided food for our wedding. We went to Masterson's and they were able to match all the appetizers and main dish that we had previously had with the old caterer. And what we found out through the tasting was - their food is better. We definitely came out on top going with Masterson's. Their staff set up all the tables beautifully and were able to provided 185 people with salmon at the perfect temperature. We actually had guests question how they were able to achieve that. We highly recommend Masterson's for any wedding!

Kristina at Masterson's was absolutely wonderful!!! She made the catering process so smooth for us. We received numerous compliments on the buffet style food at our reception. Some of the most popular selections were the tender beef carving station, chicken florentine, champagne dill salmon, and saffron rice. Everything was so flavorful and we cannot thank them enough for being so professional while serving our guests. They were very helpful throughout the entire night. I would highly recommend using Masterson's catering!!!

The good: The food was exceptional. We received a lot of compliments about how tasty it was, and the presentation (especially of the dessert bar) was great. We had Masterson's also take care of renting chairs/tents/etc, and that was extremely nice. When a problem arose on the day before, Masterson's and my coordinator took care of it immediately, which I appreciated so much. Everyone I dealt with in the office was nice and honest and committed to providing good service. Service during dinner was good, too (i.e. when I needed a refill, it was taken care of easily/quickly). The bad: While the on-site "Captain" was excellent, other staff members were less than pleasant. On a couple of different occasions while guests were present, one staff member yelled obscenities across the yard. This same staff member also spent a LOT of time in our photo booth, which we all found to be a little disrespectful/unprofessional. It was not just the one member who spent time in the photo booth either. Lastly, the staff members wrapped up the rest of the food for themselves without even asking us (the bride/groom) if we wanted any wrapped up. I didn't get to really eat, and so it would have been nice to have a little something for later that night after the wedding. But unfortunately, I was never asked about this, and there was no food left over because it had all been wrapped up to go. Overall: I think the price was fair, the food was excellent, but the service and professionalism of the on-site staff members could have been better.

I honestly cannot say enough great things about Jeri and the Olmsted staff. Jeri and her team were not only an absolute delight to work with but they walked me through the planning process every step of the way. They were professional, friendly, and super helpful. We received so many compliments from our guests about the atmosphere and the food/bar.

The venue itself is just gorgeous and Jeri has been so fabulous to work with- extremely prompt responses and always happy to meet in person.

Masterson's has been known for being the best in Louisville and they did not disappoint! They were super helpful with all of the questions and changing of the menu multiple times leading up to the big day, and offer free tastings (they let you take all the leftovers home too!) Even with all of the mishaps of the day caused by the venue, Masterson's made sure to accommodate anything I needed changed the minute I asked them. Their staff was polite and so helpful! They made the buffet look so beautiful -- I didn't even know that they did all the decorating on the buffet tables like that until I walked up to get food and it was an awesome touch! Every time I see someone from the wedding they keep commenting on how good and HOT the food was! Even people at the back of the line still had hot food and that was great -- AND they offer late night snacks which was a nice addition to our wedding!! I definitely recommend them to anyone that will ask. Their prices are reasonable and you know that the end product will be delicious! Thanks again for all the help in making my wedding day great!

Masterson's did a wonderful job at our wedding. The menu was exactly what we were looking for and the food was delicious. They were able to recreate the signature cocktails we had made for us too. They were easy to work with and very flexible accommodating our wants and desires. They also made great suggestions that we didn't even know was possible.

We needed a vendor who we could work with remotely for our 08/13/16 wedding who was responsive, met our needs, and had delicious food. All of our guests remarked how delicious their meals were. I was surprised how many empty plates I saw.

On July 22, 2016, our daughter's reception was at the Olmsted. We could not have been more pleased with Jeri, Donna and the staff and all of their attention to detail. In preparation, Jeri met with us on several occasions to get everything just right for the big day! The venue is beautiful, the food was very good and we would highly recommend it for a wedding reception!

The Olmsted was amazing, Jeri made everything so easy. The recent updates to the facility have made a huge difference. The chandleries are stunning, the new paint and added décor has really upgraded this place. We looked into several locations for our reception but this truly was the perfect fit for us.

Masterson's did an excellent job catering our wedding in May 2016. We had a family style dinner with both a chicken and beef dish. Both were delicious! Everything went smoothly the day of and we highly recommend Masterson's for any event.

Hands down the BEST venue in Louisville, KY. Not only is it a beautiful location (especially with all the new updates!) and the food amazingly tasty, but they also deliver top notch service that make for such a wonderful and enjoyable event. Jeri and Donna were absolutely wonderful to work with & the rest of the staff was top notch as well - they were all so nice and very accommodating. I can't thank The Olmsted enough for such a wonderful wedding reception and I highly recommend them to all soon-to-be brides!

I'm so happy we chose Masterson's as our caterer. The food was delicious and we got so many compliments from our guests. They worked with us on vegetarian and dairy-free options and tweaked items to meet our tastes. I highly recommend Masterson's!

Jeri was a true pleasure to work with as we planned our wedding reception at The Olmsted. We had a lot of final week changes and she fixed each thing as they came along. The staff was very professional and friendly at the event. The food was great and the venue is beautiful. You don't have to go crazy decorating this venue, because it is lovely as is.

Masterson's Catering is as good as it gets. We used them for our rehearsal dinner and our wedding reception. The food is great, even when serving that many people, and they work with you to customize a menu (love Kristina) to suit your tastes and budget. The service both nights was incredible, but particularly at the reception where they went above and beyond, for example, calling my guests by name, and helping clean up spills on the dance floor. Between the staff and the food, hiring Mastersons is a no-brainer.

We got married in August 2015 at the Olmsted. We had a fantastic experience with every single person we worked with at the Olmsted. We had fabulous food provided by Masterson's catering. Everything turned out perfect!

Food was amazing. Had fried green tomato salad, squash soup, and choice of beef, pork, or salmon. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They made our day much easier by keeping things organized and immediately following up on our requests. The building itself is gorgeous especially if you're going for an an antique look.

I could not have asked for a better venue for my reception. Jeri and everyone at the Olmsted helped me during the whole wedding planning process and they more than delivered on my wedding day. Not only is it an exceptional venue, but the food is delicious and the staff is second to none. I am so pleased with my decision to have my reception at The Olmsted and I would recommend it to anyone.

This place is beautiful!!! Jeri and her staff are wonderful and fun to work with. Our daughter's reception was everything we could imagine and more. The food was delicious and there was plenty! We loved that everything (food, tables and chairs, linens) was all handled right there. Also, you give them your vendor phone numbers and Jeri's staff coordinates the set up. No need for a coordinator, they are it!! But the bottom line is...our guests were treated so well! We had 2 guests that we didn't know were gluten intolerant. They were immediately accommodated. Now that's service!

I loved the Olmsted from the moment I drove up...and then walked in the doors! It is a stunning place. It is a beautiful venue. It is simple, yet very elegant and classy. But the more I worked with the staff, the better the Olmsted became. The staff was so accommodating, they were so friendly, and obviously enjoy what they do. You don't have to worry about anything there, because they account for all that's needed. My dress seam popped open right before my wedding, but Jeri (the event coordinator) was there to sew it back up - a priceless talent! I highly recommend the Olmsted.

The Olmsted is a truly magical venue for a wedding reception! The staff was so competent helpful and the night was seamless. All of the guests commented on how beautiful and elegant it was.

Masterson's went above and beyond for our rustic wedding on Nolin Lake, KY. The place settings they provided were gorgeous and the food was spot-on, everyone was so impressed by the presentation and taste. They prepared a 5-star meal in a barn in the woods, making the event seem magical. Highly, highly recommend if you budget allows it.

Masterson's was awesome. They were amazing on their response time, kept in touch and were on top of every detail. They arrived early and set everything up exactly how we imagined it and made sure everyone had warm, delicious food. The bar service was a little slow [but our friends can drink a lot, so not particularly their fault]. If you are having around 150 guests, I would recommend at least 3 bartenders, instead of just 2. Overall, amazing and absolutely delicious food!

Working with Masterson's was enjoyable from beginning to end. Their service is top notch and food was delicious. It was a pleasure working with them and they helped with every minor detail. They have a lot of options to choose from and execute it perfectly. It shows that they really care about each individual client. I would highly recommend them!

Masterson's provided my bar and catering. Sueanna had great ideas for my southern wedding, and everything was much more affordable than other caterer's. Masterson's even packed a little sandwich plate for us to have before the wedding started/save for afterwards. The staff was so friendly--I think every server came up to me and congratulated me personally. I can't think of having any other caterer at my wedding.

I would absolutely recommend the Olmsted to anyone! The venue is breath taking. We did not have many decorations as to not take away from the detail of the venue. The staff was amazing to work with and very accommodating. They helped us stay within our budget as far as catering was concerned, the coordinator for the day was available and easy to contact at all times. We loved being able to have everything in the same place: ceremony and reception. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS. We received so many compliments on how good it was and everyone was so impressed with the service. We had a plated dinner and it was very affordable and we loved that they served the meals with smiles and patience. They also had delicious gluten free options, that were a huge hit. It was an amazing experience. I look back on my day with such joy. They made it absolutely perfect.

Mastersons did our June 2014 wedding and we couldn't be happier. Guests really enjoyed the food, and the service was professional and fast. Sueanna worked with our budget and there are so many delicious options! Well respected, reliable company!

Kristina was our coordinator and she was so awesome to work with and she was very accommodating with my husband and I. She always communicated with us and any time we needed to get in touch with her she was always readily available. Micah was our event captain and the night of the event he made sure everything ran smoothly and his staff was wonderful! We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer for any event.
