0/10! We could not have chosen a better venue and wedding coordinator for our Hawaiian wedding. The MLA is an elegant venue with stunning views. Every single detail from the moment we chose the MLA through to our wedding day was organized and thoughtfully considered. Vendors (Emily Lehnert, Bula Music, Indigo Artistry and Lalamilo Flower Girl) all helped make our day even more than we envisioned. Chelsea Kuali'i is an exceptional coordinator, host and planner extravagant. She remained in touch w/ us through our entire 10 month wedding planning journey and was incredibly thoughtful as our day approached. We looked at several places in Hawaii and even considered some DIY options. We are so happy to have chosen the MLA which brought to life the wedding of our dreams.
We ended up not having our wedding here because we moved our wedding to a different island, but the wedding manager we were working with here was amazing. Chelsea Kualii was helping us figure out if this venue would work for us and she was so thorough, communicative, and dedicated to getting everything set up, we were blown away. Even now she stands out among all the venues and vendors we've worked with so far as someone who is readily available, attentive to your needs/wants, and so easy to work with. We wish we could take her with us! :(
We got married in an elopement ceremony at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows on November 13, and it was pretty much perfect. The beach setting was stunning, and the sun set behind us lighting up the sky with colors as we said our vows. The Mauna Lani's wedding coordinator, Stasha, was there for us every step of the way from the time that I first contacted the hotel about the possibility of having our wedding there all the way up through the wedding and after we checked out of the hotel. The process was incredibly easy, I went though Stasha for everything -- florist, photographer, officiant, cake, wedding license process, etc. She has preferred vendors, and they are all amazing -- Grace Flowers did an incredible job on my bouquet, our officiant Dean Kauka gave us a beautiful cereomony, our photographer Alex Klarc was so much fun, just fantastic to work with, and the dinner on the beach and wedding cake from Canoe House restaurant were delicious. The day of the wedding went very smoothly, with Stasha coordinating everything. In sum, we never had to worry about anything, and everything went perfectly. If you are considering a wedding in Hawaii you simply must consider Mauna Lani Bay, I really don't think anything could have been any better than it was. And it was very affordable, too. I am so grateful to Stasha and the Mauna Lani team!
I have been staying at Mauna Lani ever since I was a young kid, and to have our dream wedding there was a very important factor to me as it's always been a special place for me. Our wedding, under the direction of Stasha La was such an amazing experience, no matter what came up...from inclement weather...to the hotel messing up our room reservation...everything was handled professionally and with sincerity, which made pur wedding a dream come true. We even got moved into the Helaconia Bungalow, which was beyond our wildest dreams, due in no small part to Stasha working with the hotel to accommodate us after the room mix-up. Overall, everything from the rehearsal, the flowers, the food, the minister, the coordinator...couldn't have been happier with the whole experience. Thank you Stasha!!!
My husband and I recently got married at Mauna Lani on November 5th. My family had a condo on the Mauna Lani property, I grew up spending summers there so it was an obvious choice for a wedding locale. We knew that it would be a nice spot but were completely blown away by how magical it ended up being and how well we were treated throughout. The hotel provided a beautiful backdrop, we got an amazing upgrade to a private bungalow which was an unexpected surprise and our wedding planner who works for the hotel Stasha was pivotal in it being an successful experience and absolutely perfect day. Stasha was an amazing partner, executor and made so many of our ideas and hopes become a reality all with a smile on her face.
I will be honest in saying I had several panicky bridezilla moments and worries but Stasha always was the voice of reason and experience and ultimately not only listened but guided us in directions we hadn't considered or didn't know we wanted, and she was always right but made us feel heard. Getting upgraded to the bungalow was such an amazing surprise that truly topped off an incredible week. It meant so much to us and our families and provided the perfect center for all of our guests to enjoy. We'd also like to call out our maid who did not have an easy task at all but was so sweet and thorough. Overall, the hotel went above and beyond taking care of us, our guests numbering about 80 people, most of whom stayed on the Mauna Lani property either in the hotel or condos all reportedly had a great time too. I will forever speak well of Mauna Lani and the entire experience and would highly recommend it as a vacation destination or an event destination.
We decided to get married here without ever even visiting the island prior. I do not regret it! Terra and Lauren are very responsive, accomodating and great to work with. Resort weddings are just expensive. No way around that. But it is worth if you are a busy bride and want most of the event planning taken care of for you. My guests were in awe and how beautiful the wedding, how great the service is, and how breathtaking the hotel ground are. Will definitely be back here to celebrate some anniversaries!
Great location. Beautiful and serene.
I chose my wedding site based on online reviews so feel compelled to give an A+ rating to Mauna Lani Bay Resort. My wedding was more spectacular than I couldve ever dreamed! The wedding coordinator made everything come together perfectly. The resort was the most beautiful on the island with friendly staff eager to please. They were able to give our guests a phenomenal deal on room rates and upgraded us with special treats throughout our stay. Everyone enjoyed all the complimentary amenities only the Mauna Lani offers. Our wedding with 18 guests in August 2011 was held in an intimate setting outside the Eva Parker Woods Cottage with the ocean at sunset behind us and the ancient fishponds in front. After our traditional Hawaiin ceremony, we walked back to hotel poolsidefor our reception with an open bar and the best wedding food I have ever eaten in large portions. I highly recommend Pinkie Crowe, wedding coordinator; David o Baldwin, photographer; Tom Fernandez, officiant;Ainahua florals, florist; Mauna Lani Spa, hair/makeup/nails. We will be returning for our anniversary and many years to come.
I had my wedding here last month and it was absolutely perfect. They took care of every last detail so on the actual day I could relax and be worry free. The location is breath taking and the pictures turned out amazing.
I have spent my whole life visiting this beautiful resort and it was my childhood dream to marry here. My love for this place has been punched out of me from planning my wedding here. My experience working with the hotel's wedding coordinator, Pinkie Crowe, was one of the most exasperating of my life. Dealing with her and her vendors was so impossible that my husband, myself and our families almost called off our Hawaiian dream wedding, forfeiting our deposits and airfare just to alleviate the stress of having to plan a wedding from 2000 miles away with the someone so completely inept, inefficient and insensitive.
Planning any wedding is stressful but confounding it with such total incompetence that it sucks the joy out of what should be a joyous occasion is unacceptable. You should not fear and/or dread your wedding. It pains me to no end that with a wedding there is no "do-over" which is why I cannot more strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Just come to the resort for your honeymoon!
All we wanted was a simple, small, elegant wedding and reception by the ocean with a handful of family and friends able to make the trip (12) and wanted to enjoy spending time with them. It shouldn't have been a big deal, but the feeling that made our skin crawl is that the Mauna Lani only cares about you if you are a BIG DEAL. Unless you have at least 50 guests ready and able to travel or are willing to get ripped off by meaningless "perks" like weak ceremony niblets (fruit skewers), unnecessary decorative lighting and superfluous photo/video packages . . . you'll likely be ignored the way we were. There's nothing worse than feeling like your wedding's their lowest priority. Regardless, we wanted to create something special and to have input on who our other vendors were, like our photographer. Another point we grappled with! It seems the hotel receives kickbacks when you use their "preferred vendors". Finding our own fantastic outside vendors was the saving grace for my sanity and best aspects of our wedding.
After eight months of tireless efforts to communicate, and weeks without responses to decision making questions, we arrived to find key issues still not correct and/or settled, such as our ceremony style and rehearsal dinner menu. There was a constant retraction of what was "actually" available us - the elegant steak and seafood plated dinner originally offered was reduced to a family buffet of fried chicken and biscuits because of the number of rooms booked by my guests. Perhaps the most disturbing part was having to reiterate to Pinkie Crowe what prices and options she had initially offered me when she increased our commitment to guest rooms and impoverished our dinner buffet. I prey I will never have to wage a battle for Mahi Mahi again for the rest of my life. (***To their credit, my one star is earned by the quality of the food and service at the reception. The people taking care of you at the hotel are lovely and my guests enjoyed their stay. Like I said, good for honeymooning!***)
In the end (among other things) Pinkie offended our friends and family at the ceremony AND reception, the minister read the WRONG ceremony (Hawaiian themed instead of Civil a.k.a."T'il death do us part"), and the hotel destroyed the top layer of my wedding cake before I even received it. I could not wait to leave. The Mauna Lani has been my family's most favorite vacationing spot since I was seven. I will likely never return after this experience.
Having my wedding at the Mauna Lani hotel was the best idea I've ever had! The wedding coordinator provided was incredible to work with. The location was Heaven on earth. And the staff was so incredibly nice to not only my fiance and I, but to our entire wedding party!
With the hotel's offered wedding package, there was nothing for me to worry about or stress over organizing. If you want a wedding that will be beautiful, romantic and stress free, the Mauna Lani is for you!
Pinkie and her team were absolutely fantastic! I felt comfortable going into my day knowing that every single one of my crazy details would be taken care of. The day went perfectly and it was more beautiful then I could have ever imagined!! The site was perfect and everyone at the Mauna Lani were the BEST!!!
