I would not even give this place one star! Luckily my son and daughter in law got out and found another venue because Monica was a nightmare to work with.

Had a wedding scheduled for the fall but had to pull out of this place because of the new management. New management took over early April and has been unresponsive, unhelpful and untrustworthy to plan a event of any size. I had my tasting scheduled on a Friday and was contacted that morning by the new manager that they would need to re-schedule and also that I would need to get my deposit from the previous owner. Tried contacting the previous owner with no luck and then contacted the McHenry country club to let them know but had zero response for about 3-4 weeks. Finally heard back from the new manager and had a horrible phone call where zero information was given and the person was just overall rude. Finally decided to look elsewhere and have since booked a new venue. We signed this place in October of 2019 and had the wedding scheduled for Fall of 2020 but had to reschedule due to covid for fall of 2021. Since we signed in October we have had to deal with 3 management companies and 3 event coordinators. Had no problems the previous 2 until this new management company took over. As of right now I don't recommended going here for a wedding or event.

The team was very unprofessional. They have gone through significant employee turnover and you can tell that moral has been affected. The bridal coordinator that I was working with for over a year and half left, and I found that out the day of my wedding. All of the help that I was told I was going to get from the team, that did not happen...moving tables, setting up decorations was all done by me and my family, and reiterating my vision to the other staff that had no idea no what going on, all happened the day before the wedding. They ordered the wrong chair sashes (which were quite ugly) and made no attempt to call the vendor or fix this issue, the color of the chair sashes was not at all what I was expecting (even though it was the color I ordered), but again, they made no attempt to make it right. Brides, you are spending a lot of money for this one day and the pictures (and potentially video) are what you are going to have to remember this day for the rest of your life. I am very happy I did not go with a videographer because my unhappiness would have showed in the video, and all of the pictures the photographer took of the empty room are completely useless, we could not use one of them because the room did not match my vision or my expectations. Do not trust this team with your wedding, they do not understand the importance of aesthetics or commitment. Maybe when they can hire and retain an event coordinator this would be better, because the venue itself is very pretty (that is why I picked it), but in the meantime be prepared for a disaster and a team of people that are unwilling to help.

We had a wonderful time at my granddaughters wedding. The food was so good. Members of the staff took care of our every want and were so grayish. Thanks Janelle for all your wonderful help.

This venue was affordable and gorgeous! The food was delicious and the gazebo was the perfect spot to get married. The gold course has a ton of beautiful spots for pictures. Tracy was one of the most helpful and thoughtful people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to have an unforgettable wedding.

I recently had the perfect wedding at McHenry Country Club. My day was absolute perfection and it was mostly thanks to Lauren and the rest of the staff at the club. After our first meeting with Lauren, we knew this was going to be the venue for us. They were in the middle of redesigning the main dining hall but they way Lauren described it, I knew it was going to be great. It is now a neutral gray which makes it so easy to adapt to your wedding theme. The pricing for the ceremony and reception were definitely the best value we looked at. Lauren and her team set everything up for you so you don't have to decorate the day before your wedding. People are still telling me how much they enjoyed themselves. The staff at McHenry Country Club was so accommodating through the whole planning process and the day of. Would recommend them to anyone looking to get married.

Lauren was a great help. She was laid back and really looked at the details. She made sure we had nothing to worry about on the day of. The price was amazing. Most places are over priced and do a lot of add ons. McHenry Country Club didn't nickel and dime us on anything. We used their serving trays, extra tables, linens and vases for no extra charge. We had so little to provide after their supplies it was very cost effective. I love the amount of light and space we got to use. The whole back patio was free for us to use. For our pictures we got to go out on the golf course which was nice to do while people were arriving. They even rearranged club furniture for our party to fit better with a photo booth. An excellent space and wonderful price. I would love to have another event there.

Although our wedding was more of the simple kind, it didn't matter to the McHenry Country Club. At first, we had a LOT of questions for Lauren, the Club's coordinator. She listened and answered all of them. She was available whenever we needed help. When THE DAY came, she made sure everything was in it's place just as we asked. Her attention to detail is incredible. She treated us like royalty, which was not expected, but certainly enjoyable! Her staff was very courteous and professional. The food was excellent, and the service was impeccable. Many of our guests said it was the best wedding they've ever been to. We took advantage of the Club's grounds for pictures and relaxing on the outdoor patio. The ceremony was outdoors, and I (the Bride) was fortunate to arrive by a relative's pontoon boat! How cool is that! We will definitely recommend the McHenry Country Club for others! Thank you for a job well done!

Our wedding was fantastic, and it was made all the more special every step of the way because of the wonderful staff at MCC. I specifically want to thank Anthony, Lauren, and Keith, but everyone was great. I can make you one promise right now, you will not find better food at another venue. Everyone is raving about it. Steaks that are 4 inches thick and cooked to perfection. We had a unique wedding, with some interesting concepts. I'm a Boy Scout and we wanted to have a s'mores bar, that people could take marshmallow fluff out of a crock pot and eat, Lauren piped up right away and said, "We can do that! We'll even setup a campfire for you outside." WOW!!! We also wanted to changed out one of the ingredients in one of our choices, she was able to get that done as well. The venue, while it doesn't look like anything to write home about when first approaching it, once you get inside the main room is fantastic. It is a U-shaped room with windows all around that face out onto the Fox River. There is also a pergola outside, even closer to the river, that we had our ceremony at. Pricing is another reason why we loved this venue. There is a flat rate for everything. Any food is the same price, no nickle and dime-ing. Everyone is very forthcoming, no hidden costs. If I ever have another large event, I will absolutely use MCC again, this is a hidden gem. Thank you again MCC.

I got married at McHenry Country Club in June 2016. The setting for an outdoor ceremony is absolutely beautiful, the ballroom comfortably fit 135 of my guests, and everything went so smoothly thanks to Lauren. She did an excellent job attending to our needs and making sure our day/evening was exactly what we pictured. I highly recommend putting MCC on your list of venues to check out. They will not disappoint!

The McHenry Country Club is outstanding. To start off, the banquet hall and club grounds are beautiful. It was everything we had hoped for, and more. I cannot say enough how accommodating the staff is. Lauren and Keith literally bend over backwards to make sure everything is perfect. From the initial food tasting months before our wedding to the day of the wedding having their staff set everything up for us. One of our guests came up to me to comment on how his wife wanted to drink a certain type of beverage, but we didn't think to add it to our bar package... Keith said, "I'll take care of it." and made sure she had what she wanted. EVERY guest was impressed and couldn't stop talking about the food and the service.

McHenry country club staff was so helpful in every way. Lauren the wedding consultant was amazing. They worked around my work schedule in the planning stages of my wedding. They helped with the colors on tables, food tasting, and set up to to create my dream wedding. I didn’t have to set up reception room the night before my wedding Lauren and her team did that themselves which was gorgeous! I remember walking in the reception room the morning of my special day and cried tears of joy of the lovely atmosphere Lauren created. My lovely ceremony was by the water in the beautiful gazebo which was my favorite part. The buffet was so elegant and the food was delicious. They treated my wedding like a royal event. A year later and I still get complements from guests who attended my wedding saying it was spectacular! This beautiful wedding couldn't happened without Lauren and her awesome team! future brides you should consider this lovely place it would be great and wonderful memory.

I recently visited this venue and thought it was really beautiful; however we had a really negative experience. We met with Lauren and she completely ignored my future mother in law. She didn't seem interested in getting us to book the venue. I considered the possibility she was having an off day, but when my fiancé went she had the same negative, standoffish attitude toward my mother and future father in law. Regardless, we wanted to book the venue so I emailed Lauren with a couple of questions but she never responded to me. Ever. Then my mom called and inquired about her availability to speak and when she finally got ahold of her, she was incredibly rude to my mom and didn't even know which prospective client she was calling about. She either misunderstood or lied and told her she had already spoken to me when she hadn't. To this day, weeks later, I still have not heard from her. It's unfortunate because she lost business by being so rude and incompetent with her communication. Beautiful venue. Horrible customer service.

We couldn't be happier with holding our daughter's wedding at McHenry Country Club. Everything was beautiful. Lauren, the Event Coordinator works very hard to make sure everything goes smoothly. You can leave your stress behind (if such thing is possible.) The entire staff was so nice and helpful. They make sure your guests are happy too.

The McHenry Country Club allowed us to personalize every detail of our event. They were so accommodating and went out of their way to make us comfortable. If you don't use their wedding package, you can build your own package where you basically end up just paying for food and drinks. They will do anything you ask to make your day run smoothly. I highly recommend it!!

This vendor is awesome, the facility is beautiful, Lauren the event plannner, is excellent, the food was superb. If you are planning any type of event you should definately consider them. You will not be disappointed, especially in the food, our guests raved about it. We even had a chef as one of our guests, and he thought the food was excellant

The setting was gorgeous and everything was delicious. Lauren the wedding planner for the club was on top of everything and made me feel special..my only complaint is the waitstaff did not serve the cake.

I could not have asked for a better venue! They were very accommodating and willing to work with you every step of the way! Lauren, the wedding coordinator was wonderful! I emailed her hundreds of time and she was always willing to answer my questions, no matter how little the detail. The landscape provided a wonderful backdrop for pictures! I would recommend this venue to anyone!!! They were amazing! We had absolutely no problems the day of the wedding :)

I had my wedding at McHenry Country Club on September 1, 2012. Everything turned out perfect! I had my ceremony outside on the newly painted gazebo with the Fox River as the background. It is such a beautiful and romantic setting. Eventhough it had rained all day, the weather cleared up for us to still have it outside. If not, there is an indoor area to hold the ceremony which has large picture windows so you still get the feeling of being on the water. The reception area is large and spacious and three of the four walls are windows. This allows for the gorgeous view to be seen thoughout the night. Lauren, the banquet coordinator, was very helpful in my planning process. Since I live over 200 miles away, she made the long distance planning easier. She was very well orgainized and was willing to accommodate all of my requests. The chef had no problems with the different kids meals and vegan meals needed. And the food was fantastic! We had ordered the filet and you could cut it with a fork! The waitstaff was effecient and professional. The dinner service went quickly without any waiting for the next course. We offered wine service throughout dinner and everyone's glass was kept full. I am so glad that I decided to have my wedding and reception there. Everything turned out wonderfully and I couldn't be happier!

We had our reception here June 30,2012. The setting was gorgeous with all the windows and the view of the river. Our guests enjoyed walking around out by the river and there were a lot of nice photo ops. One unique feature is that the wedding party was given golf carts to go out on the course and take pictures. Lots of fun! The reception hall is very tastefully decorated and not gaudy like some hotels tend to be. We had a photo booth and the country club provided us with an adjacent room for this at no extra charge. Dance floor is small, but that wasn't a big deal for us. We felt like we got a lot for the money. Food was good and the chef was willing to do kids' meals and accommodate guests with food allergies. The wedding coordinator was helpful with long distance planning and set up things I dropped off the day before. A few minor complaints...the wedding coordinator didn't seem very available right before the wedding or the day of. We had to chase down a knife for the cake cutting and find someone to set up the screen and projector for the slide show. Overall a good experience - we had a lot of positive comments from guests.

Our wedding was June 16 2012. The facility was kept up beautifully. They have a brand new pergula outside that they just painted white that we had our ceremony at. The Fox River passes behind and makes for a beautiful background. The food was delicious and Lauren the coordinator was extremely helpful with anything we needed. I loved the reception room because 3 of the 4 walls were windows so it was nice and bright. The patio right outside was also wonderful for guests to use as well. It was the best night of my life!
