Mechanics Hall

Mechanics Hall was great! We wanted to find an indoor venue for our ceremony and reception with enough space for 150+ guests and a large dance floor, and Mechanics Hall fit our needs perfectly. Mechanics Hall is beautiful throughout, allowing us to take all of our photos inside on our cold and rainy wedding day. Mechanics Hall has a large main hall with a room behind the stage for a bar. Below the main hall is a smaller hall available for the cocktail hour. The bride and the bridal party were able to get prepared (hair, nails, and dress), starting at 10AM (wedding at 4:30PM), in one of the venue's many rooms. The ceremony took place in the main hall with the officiant, wedding party, bride and groom on the stage. Pipe and drape separated the aisle, chairs, and stage from the tables for the reception, and the Mechanics Hall staff did an amazing and efficient job at converting the room from the ceremony to the reception. During the reception, Mechanics Hall provided the bar-tending staff and liquor (per MA law). Mechanics Hall was quite flexible and met the vast majority of our needs. They allowed us to conduct a rehearsal the day before the wedding, even though they had a prom later that night, and they allowed us to bring in decorations and the wedding dress in advance to the wedding. However, because there was a prom that Friday night, we were unable to begin placing decorations until cleaning was complete. Karen McDonald was our main point of contact, and she acted as a somewhat of an event coordinator. Karen was a pleasure to work with, and she was very timely and thoughtful with her communications! She was also very knowledgeable about vendors and processes, so she was able to advise us and answer all of our questions. She helped coordinate vendors and the wedding party, but, because it is not her job to be the event coordinator, we recommend having a designated point of contact for vendors, personnel, etc. on your wedding day.

To say Mechanics Hall is beautiful would be an understatement. Throughout our engagement, family and friends would ask where the wedding was going to be. Many oohed and awed when we said Mechanics Hall – and rightfully so. It was the first venue we visited out of three, and many we had virtually checked out online. Maybe this was our mistake, because nowhere else could possibly compare, but we have zero regrets about having our wedding at such a magnificent location. We were enamored with the spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. As a bride, and seeing friends and family get married prior to my own, I know the many intricate details that can go into making your wedding venue space your own. The beauty of Mechanics Hall is that you have very little to worry about, other than your tables. The ornate features of the hall and throughout the building provide its own elegance and décor without adding too much. To me, this was beyond appealing, because it meant less I had to worry about in the long run. As silly as this might sound, I truly felt like our wedding night was a fairytale, largely because of the beautiful location that we hosted our wedding. Right from the start, the staff that helped show us around and answer our questions was beyond courteous and accommodating to our schedule and inquisitive minds. This courteous and helpful nature did not stop there. When we signed on to have Mechanics Hall as our wedding venue, any questions or needs I had along the way, they were quick to help answer those questions. This lead right up to the week of the wedding, where my anxious mind was worried about setting up the hall with my decorations from centerpieces to the little touches. My coordinator, Joan Stewart, went above and beyond ANYTHING I could have hoped for! We had our final meeting with her, where I dropped off all my decorations and details, and she assured me that not only did I not have to set anything up, but also I had nothing to worry about because it was her job to make sure it was perfect. And it was perfect! Being able to not stress about those details allowed me to really enjoy my wedding from start to finish. The rest of the staff did a fantastic job catering to our guests during our wedding, providing wait staff and bar services that were friendly and fantastic. Overall, our impression of Mechanics Hall has grown from a beautiful facility that we hosted our wedding to a place that will forever hold a magical night in our hearts. There are so many words that can describe our experience, but classy sums up the location and the staff. We would highly recommend this as a top wedding venue to anyone within earshot!

Hi, If you don't mind, can you please tell me, how much mechanic hall charged you for the rent. We are of Indian origin and we has very clearly told the hall it will be a Hindu wedding ! I was quoted a fee of $4500 with Free parking for all guests . However suddenly when my daughter went to see that place, they jacked up the price $1000 saying is it a ceremony free for 30 minutes. Since my daughter's ceremony is right before the wedding and it may last about 2 hours, suddenly she was quoted an additional fee of $1000 for every 30 minutes (They call it ceremony fee) and free parking only for 110 cars. I recommended this place to my daughter and we are totally disappointed the way bob Kennedy (executive director) handled the whole thing, be jacking up the price, the moment he found out we are Hindus. I would like to know for the readers here as to how much each one of you were charged ! We need some transparency here !

I booked the Mechanics Hall for my wedding reception and I wouldn't have it any other way! This hall is absolutely stunning and everyone was in awe the entire night! This is not your typical hotel/restaurant... it's a music hall!! The cost to add additional hours to our night was a little high, but still worth it! Joan was a pleasure to work with and great to have that day! Overall, great venue!

We started our wedding venue search with Tuckerman and Mechanics Halls and spent the rest of the weekend looking at country clubs....but after those two halls you the country clubs just don't cut it. We chose Mechanics Hall because the place is magnificent and the staff seemed laid back and competent. We were never let down. Bob Kennedy and Joan were both spectacular, answering all of our questions leading up to the wedding and coordinating with our other vendors. The place looked spectacular the night of the wedding and the wait staff were very attentive to us. The only complaint I heard from our guests was that the bartender was grumpy and short tempered -- maybe he was having a bad day. It certainly didn't ruin the night by any means. Overall, we had a great experience for a good price and would do it all over again if given the chance.

My husband and I had our ceremony and reception at Mechanic's Hall. I initially chose Mechanic's Hall because I was so impressed with how stunning the place looked and how organized and professional the staff was. When it came to my wedding day, the only thing that worked out was how beautiful it was there. We were told many things during are meetings leading up to the wedding. We were told there would be security, a friendly team of staff showing people where to go, people collecting the gifts and putting them in a safe locked room, staff members would be there to help set everything up before the wedding, and we had a wedding coordinator that would be working with us throughout the day. The day of the wedding. Practically no one was there when we arrived. In fact, all the staff members we were promised showed up so late that my HUSBAND AND HIS GROOMSMEN had to set up all the chairs, mop the floor and put together the centerpieces and decorations. Um what?? Yes... if they hadn't of showed up early (thank God they did) none of that would have been done. We were getting married at 2:00p.m and were told to be in place for 1:15 so guests could enter at 1:30. Our wedding coordinator told us she would be there at 11:00a.m to help us... We couldn't find her until 1:00. To make matters worse, we found her showing the venue around TO ANOTHER COUPLE. Our guests were confused. No one was there to show them where to go or where to put there gifts. What happened to the friendly staff we were promised?? Oh and that same staff took the very expensive personalized aisle runner I had and crumpled it up and threw it in the corner. Because the staff and our coordinator didn't show up in time we ended up running so late we didn't get to take any pre-photos and we barely got any photos between the ceremony and the reception. This is a high class venue. For what we payed, I am absolutely disgusted with how everything was handled the day of the wedding. I feel like I was being "sold" the place leading up to the day and then once they had our money, they didn't care anymore. If we didn't have such great parents and an incredible wedding party stepping up and helping get everything done, our wedding we worked so hard on would have pretty much fallen apart. We chose this venue because we wanted to have a relaxing, already organized and taken care of wedding. We thought we wouldn't have to stress or worry about anything and just be able to enjoy our special day. Because of them we had triple the amount of stress we should of had. I DO NOT recommend Mechanic's Hall to anyone planning a wedding. It's beautiful in there but that's not worth paying the ridiculous amount for a careless staff.

When my fiance and I were looking for wedding venues we wanted something different, classic, but not too stuffy. Mechanics Hall was absolutely perfect, from the moment we visited the first time we were just amazed at how beautiful everything was. The staff will help you coordinate everything (and certainly soothed my frayed nerves towards the end) and will do everything they can to accomodate you. I wouldn't change a thing and was so happy to have those memories forever. Guests couldn't believe the space and how beautiful it was, they certainly won't forget it either!

This place is AMAZING. ITs so beautiful if your looking in worcester you have to check it out. Joan is the best wedding coordinator.

Mechanics Hall was a gorgeous backdrop for our wedding. We had our ceremony, cocktail hr and reception all here and everything turned out amazing! (Nice not to have to worry about the weather since everything was indoors) Service was OK. Bob Kennedy is wonderful to work with, however the planners aren't as social/helpful - just make sure you get everything in writing as our planner changed 1/2 way through the planning process. We would definitely recommend this location!!

Mechanics Hall was a gorgeous venue for our reception. Sharon was our coordinator, and she was wonderful to work with. Very accommodating, and answered all of our questions promptly in the months leading up to the wedding. She stayed until all of the organized activities (dinner service, cake cutting, bouquet toss) were finished on the night of the wedding. Unlike the reviewer below, our bar servers were all adults (late 20's and older). We also had an additional Mechanics Hall staff member dedicated to my husband and I. He ensured we had food, beverages, and anything else we needed. At the end of the night he organized all of our gifts and decor items onto push carts to be brought down to cars. Service was excellent and the venue was beautiful. I am so happy we used Mechanics Hall for our reception.

Mechanics Hall was no doubt stunning in every way. The grand ballroom made me feel like a princess and the first chords played on the organ sent goosebumps up everyone's arms. That being said, the wedding coordinator there was a nightmare to deal with. She did not listen to anything I said-even after repeating them several time AND putting them down in writing. The servers for cocktails are all high school kids who were texting all night instead of attending to the bridal party-um HELLO!!!! The coordinator was very rude to my other vendors as well. I would recommend this venue, but to STRONGLY suggest hiring an outside wedding coordinator who is REALLY on top of things and can give you all that you want without the headache.

Mechanics Hall is an unforgettable space with historic photographs and murals. Amazing lighting and dance floor a truly unique ballroom.
