Melissa is the absolute best. Her designs are creative and imaginative. Pairing her love for flowers with her background in interior design make her work unique. It will set your wedding apart from anything you have seen. Her personality makes her a pleasure to work with. She will take your vision and make it reality.
Communication was an issue with this vendor right from the start. We had a great preliminary phone conversation with Melissa and I was excited to hire her on that basis, but in the following weeks I had a hard time getting responses to my emails, texts, and phone calls. I was convinced she ghosted us after receiving no word for 3 weeks, and was worried that I’d have to start to search all over again for a new florist, but then I did finally hear back and was told they were just very busy with other weddings. It’s understandable to be busy but you should never be too busy to answer an email or phone call within a day. I didn’t appreciate the stress of not being able to contact a vendor whom I needed to help figure out planning and questioning and budgeting. It took two months just to get a contract so we could actually pay her. The whole experience was needlessly stressful, even my wedding planners had a hard time reaching her.
For the wedding, the bouquets were pretty, but also many things were different than I’d expected. For instance we had discussed- and it was stated on the contract- that we’d have a ceremony arch. She even sent an example photo to me of the type of thing to expect- an “arch” of flowers above the bride and groom at the alter. What we ended up getting we two large bouquets placed side by side of the alter, and two smaller once on the floor. No arch structure, nothing like we had discussed. I had also requested the boutonnières for the groomsmen be different colors- that request was ignored. If it simply couldn’t be done, we were not informed and so out expectations were not up to date on whatever they were doing. I also wasn’t impressed with the grooms boutinniere- turns out an orchid is a very awkwardly long shape and didn’t look nice in my opinion. We were going for tropoca flowers and I have appreciated some professional advice on what looks best as a boutonnière.
My wedding bouquet was lovey but it also lived for only about a day and a half after the wedding before they were seriously wilted. For the cost, I expected them to be a little fresher and heartier than that.
In the end, our wedding wasn’t negatively impacted by the flowers however based on the bad communication and changes to what we had agreed upon, I can’t say I’d recommend this vendor as a florist.
