After performing with his Steel Drum Symphony, "Pan Connection", for over 10 years. Mello decided to continue pursuing his passion as a solo artist. Now playing the steel drums for over 24 years, his passion stills radiates an energetic yet relaxing Caribbean Presence. History reflects that Trinidad and Tobago are the originators of the steel drum instrument. Mello was born in St. Croix to a Trinidadian family which gives him a diverse Caribbean culture. Loving the steel drums and reggae music gives him the diversity to display the steel drum with reggae vocals. He was trained by Trinidad natives, Arranger and composer Michael Belgrave and currently an apprentice of local Tampa Bay steel drum legend Mr. Kirby Rampart (who arranges, composes and has performed locally for over 50 years.) This not only equips Mello with the ability to navigate his instrument. But it also provides a background and history of the origination of the steel drum and its legends. With an extensive background with the steel drum, backed by his REGGAE VOCALS and the ability to MC and DJ he will give you an authentic musical display and A TRUE TASTE OF THE CARIBBEAN!!!

Mello is an excellent DJ. He assisted in crafting the perfect wedding. He worked getting the music together, edited certain songs we chose, and provided amazing MC services to keep the wedding on track.
The steel drums were awesome and really made the wedding! Mello offered suggestions on the lighting and effect! We love him!
My wife and I got married nearly 3 years ago. We still talk about how much fun we had along with our guest. Mello was a huge part in making that possible. He did such an amazing job and really listened to what we wanted to be sure our day was just as we imagined. He is so talented and the steel drums sounded so beautiful for our beach wedding. We would 100% choose Mello to DJ our wedding again.
I got Married almost 2 weeks ago! If you are looking for an INCREDIBLE AND TALENTED DJ, please do not look any further, seriously, hire Mello! From the first time we spoke on the phone, I knew he was the one! His talent is unmatched, incredible personality and vibe. His attention to detail is remarkable. He did steel drums for ceremony and cocktail hour then DJ'd for reception. My guests loved him and had a blast. My reception was everything I had dreamed of thanks to Mello! Any future events we have, he will be our DJ. Thank you so much Mello!! If I could give 10 Stars, I would!
Mello is the man. From the processional, to the cocktail hour, to the reception - he never missed a beat. Guest loved him as did my wife and I. Mello keeps the party going and keeps guests engaged at all times with his MC skills. Steel drum was awesome and Mello even sings a bit during his cocktail hour performance. We highly recommend Mello for your wedding or any occasion for that matter.
I first met Mello Vibes at a wedding where he was playing. I really enjoyed the music he played on the steel drum and in general. I booked him for our wedding this past month and was very happy with my decision. Mello is friendly, professional, and detail-oriented. He spoke with me several times before the wedding to make sure he understood the details. He even asked for the phonetics of names. If you are looking for a talented, professional steel drummer and DJ who is easy to work with, I highly recommend Mello Vibes. He played the steel drums for my wedding and cocktail hour. He was also the DJ for my reception. During the wedding planning phase, Mello was easy to work with, responsive to my calls, and professional. He was easy going and positive – which is important during the stress of wedding planning. Mello is a talented steel drum player. His music was the perfect backdrop for my beach wedding. Several guests commented on how much they enjoyed his music. Mello was also a great DJ. I appreciated that he played many of the songs that we requested because the music helped to create an ambiance that reflected our personalities. I had a brunch reception and wasn’t sure if people would dance. Mello made sure they did. He was fun, engaging and played the right music at the right time.

Mello was a huge hit at our wedding & reception. He is a great musician and an even better DJ with lots of energy & personality. At the beginning of our reception people weren't getting out on the dance floor and he was able to get them out of their chairs and shaking their booties! He was open to the songs we wanted/didn't want, had great suggestions, and was always quick to get back with a response to our questions. If you're having a beach wedding in the Tampa area, you better have Mello there! Don't waste your time with anyone else!!
Mello and his steel drums are a must have at your beach wedding! He played Here comes the Bride for me as I walked down the aisle and everyone complimented what a nice touch it all was!
Mello Vibes is soooo great at what he does!! He is an excellent entertainer and steel drum player! He plays a mix of steel drum music and other regular songs (for first dance, bouquet toss, etc). He also plays songs that will encourage people to get out and dance! He is super friendly, entertaining, and a great performer!
Mello was wonderful! He was on time, played a nice selection and kept the music flowing! He is very talented!! Highly recommended!
This was actually for our cocktail hour and not for the ceremony (we used the DJ for the ceremony). Mello is a steel drummer and he played during the hour or so we had cocktails. He was great. Easy to work with. We communicated entirely by email and on the day of- we are so busy running around- he quickly came up to me and shook my hand and said congrats and I thought that was professional and kind of him. Having the steel drum music added a nice element to the evening and he did a good job.
