Everything was PERFECT!! The food was fabulous, the service was amazing and Erin is the best!!!
We could not have asked for a better venue. It was also nice that the M's are on the front of the bars and our last name starts with M ;)
Also my husband has dreamed of having a special bourbon bar at the wedding as he has been collecting bourbon for years. They were able to accommodate this and we were so pleased with the execution!!
They also provided the beautiful chivari chairs and 99% of our tables which was SUPER helpful!
Excellent catering and bartender staff! The building was gorgeous and very clean. Nothing could have been better.
As soon as I found Merchants Hall, I knew it wound be our wedding venue! From start to finish, Erin was a dream to work with and made it easy to book, secure, and access when needed. The venue is perfect for ceremony and reception, and fits guests comfortably. The space is so beautiful as-is, you don't need to overdo decorations. The location couldn't be better—our goal was to make everything walkable all week, and what better way than by having a venue literally at the market? Book with them if you want the quintessential Charleston venue!
Merchants Hall was the perfect place for our reception. Growing up in Charleston, we wanted the perfect "Charleston" spot.... This was it! We couldnt have picked a better location. Erin was amazing in helping with our reception. I highly recommend Merchants Hall
Merchants Hall is a beautiful venue, and Erin was so easy to work with! The space is gorgeous on its own and requires minimal decorating. They provide tables, gold chairs, 2 bars and a bar service which allowed us to have less to worry about and organize. I highly recommend Merchants Hall!
Loved having our wedding here! Erin and staff were so helpful and communicative throughout the COVID planning process. They handle set up and break down of chairs and tables, which is really nice. And the brick + chandeliers are beautiful.
5 Star review for Merchants Hall! The first time I walked in, I knew this was where I wanted my reception to be. Erin was amazing! It was super easy coordinating times to visit whether it's with my mom or with vendors. This venue is beautiful in itself and did not need a lot of decor. I would choose this venue again!
Erin was such a pleasure to work with at Merchants! We had to make some changes due to the pandemic and Erin was very helpful along the way. Merchants Hall is an absolutely beautiful space and was perfect for our special day.
I had my wedding here in the peak of wedding season and in the middle of the pandemic. This venue is beautiful, allowed outside catering and made my day so easy. The decorations I used were minimal because the location, exposed brick and lighting really spoke for themselves!
Merchants Hall is such a beautiful venue! The Sales Director Erin is so sweet and a pleasure to work with. She goes above and beyond for her clients and to keep the integrity of the space. If you are looking for a stress-free experience coupled with a drop-dead gorgeous location, Merchants Hall is the venue for you!
Absolutely beautiful. This venue requires very little to be stunning, the exposed brick and chandeliers are really breathtaking. Erin was very helpful in planning and accommodating, offering suggestions, and meeting with us multiple times for walk-throughs. The restrooms are spacious, the bridal suite is perfect, and the location downtown is ideal.
We had the most amazing, fun, beautiful wedding reception at Merchants Hall! The location, exposed brick, chandeliers, spacing, and customer service can't be beat. Erin was amazing to work with, even during the craziness of COVID. We had to move our original date and she made magic happen for us. I highly recommend this venue!
We could not have picked a better venue for our wedding! Merchants Hall is absolutely stunning and the team there was very helpful, professional, and kind. They provide tables, chairs, and 2 bars which was helpful in cutting down on the amount of rentals we needed. You do have to use their bar services, but they are comparable prices to other vendors and it was one less vendor we had to organize. Our wedding took place during the COVID 19 pandemic and Merchants Hall was good with working with us on allowing us to reduce our guest count significantly to allow for just family and wedding party. They also were helpful in creating a safe and clean space for our imitate wedding. The staff wore masks and they provided hand sanitizer for us in addition to having the space deep cleaned before our wedding. We are so thankful to Merchants Hall for providing a beautiful, clean, and professional environment for us!! I would highly recommend Merchants Hall as a wedding venue- it is truly a hidden gem in downtown Charleston, SC! I also booked Merchants Hall for a small fee for my bridal portraits before the wedding and that was a fantastic experience for me! I believe you can rent the space for bridal portraits even if you are not one of their brides, but I would check with them on that. Overall, we had a very positive experience!
My family reserved the use of Merchant’s Hall for my only daughter’s wedding. We paid the security deposit but then COVID happened. In simplicity the contract is for them to provide for a space of 200 people in the late afternoon/evening. We received an email BY MERCHANTS HALL that the space will now accommodate only 56 people which is in breach of contract by them. At the point when my wife called them, the capacity was raised to a little over 100. This was not what my daughter wanted when the contract was signed. What were our options? Reschedule the wedding, have a party at the venue later, or cancel with no refund on the deposit. They are telling us that they are sticking to the terms of the contract in regards to cancellations. What about their terms of what was the contracted accommodation for guests? Why does one stand but not the other? We have tried to work with them and be understanding as the pandemic is not their fault either. We were willing to accept 1/2 of the deposit as a refund and were still told no. Erin has been wonderful to work with and is unfortunately caught in the middle of being a messenger for an unreasonable CFO. Shame on Merchants Hall for not being decent in times such as these.
Had the most perfect wedding reception here! Erin was great to work with! And having our wedding reception at Merchants Hall was everything I could have dreamed of and more! I can't believe we found something so great!
Erin has been amazing to work with and incredibly accommodating. Our wedding was affected by coronavirus and was more than willing to work with us to identify a new date that worked for us, our wedding party and our family. We are so appreciative of the Merchants Hall team!
We loved having our wedding at Merchants Hall! It's a beautiful space perfect for our small event. You can't go wrong with the chandeliers, the brick, the beautiful details... it was lovely. I would highly recommend this venue!!
Gorgeous space and Erin was great to work with. I can’t say enough positive things!
Merchants Hall was beyond the perfect reception venue. The exposed brick and extravagant chandeliers made for a jaw-dropping backdrop to an already perfect celebration for us! The space by itself is extremely beautiful and requires minimal additions (if any!) to have it reception ready. Erin and her team were awesome to work with and were there helping us every step of the way. We were very fortunate to have celebrated our reception in Merchants Hall and highly recommend it!
Merchant's Hall is a beautiful venue and a great location! Houston was very accommodating by allowing to use the space on Thanksgiving for a rehearsal. He arranged for the room to be set up for the ceremony during the rehearsal. Since we were doing our own decorations, it gave us time to have the decorations prepared and discuss the set-up. There was some miscommunication regarding the use of the stereo equipment/microphone, that caused some frustration on the wedding day. My brother had to go and rent these items. After renting the equipment from a store, we found out we could have used the equipment at Merchant's Hall for an additional cost. I was under the impression that it was included in the rental space. Overall, we had a great experience but would have liked a little more clarification on the equipment.
Let me just say one thing about Merchants Hall. If you want to achieve your dream wedding that you’ve been waiting for all of your life, BOOK THIS VENUE. RIGHT NOW.
My experience with them was flawless. And when I mean ‘them’, I mean Houston Pearce. This man saved our wedding and offered any possible hand that he could to help my husband and I.
Our DJ canceled on us the DAY BEFORE our wedding and within 10 minutes, Houston had the sound system in the venue set up for all of our ceremony music. I was in tears of happiness!
My husband and I were honored to be the first couple EVER to be married inside of Merchants Hall and it was like floating in Heaven.
I truly don’t have enough words to explain the beauty and history behind this venue and how gorgeous our night was... I will forever look back and reminisce on it.
Seriously, go book this venue right now.
Thank you to Merchants Hall for being the most amazing and magical dream come true ever!!!!
We are a rental, styling and wedding coordination company and we absolutely love Merchants Hall. We have done a photoshoot and a wedding there and it was love at first sight! The newly renovated building is gorgeous and there are so many beautiful textures that compliment each other. The exposed brick, woodwork, and chandeliers make for an amazing backdrop for any celebration. It is conveniently located in beautiful downtown Charleston. The manager Houston was extremely kind and very helpful. He always made sure we had everything that we needed and gave us his cell number in case of emergencies. The building is also equipped with an elevator, warming kitchen (which is so much more than that), and plenty of open space for any event. We look forward to many more events here and recommend them highly to anyone looking for this type of venue!
I’m a florist and coordinator. A client of mine had her wedding at Merchants Hall on October 6, 2018. This venue wasn’t known to either of us but after the bride’s first venue closed a few months before her date, she went to visit. She fell in love with the historical feel, the space, the beautiful chandeliers, and more. She actually felt lucky her first choice fell through! From my perspective, I also fell in love with the venue. Super clean, high end decor, beautiful brick and woodwork throughout, electrical outlets everywhere, and a dumpster for garbage. Bathrooms are spacious down a very pretty hallway and the bridal suit is elegant. The venue advertises it has a “warming kitchen” yet the caterers made a point of mentioning it’s much more than that. It’s not huge but it’s well equipped with counters, cooler, sinks, warming unit, etc. Houston, the manager was very easy to work with and gave his cellphone number in case we had any questions throughout the evening. Overall, very pleased with this venue and can’t wait to work there again!
