If you want to organize an event or a wedding and to skip any headache or something else, Meyer's Castel is one of the best place to be.
Very affordable price, super fresh food and made there, very organized everything, all stuff very welcome and professional.
This summer I was almost every weekend to a wedding in different places in and @ Chicago.
This becomes one of my favorite place to be.
Thank you to everyone for the best time what we spent there.
Absolutely beautiful venue! Very helpful service. There were a few miscommunications along the way, but they were quickly resolved. Kate was wonderful!
Meyer’s Castle was the only venue that my husband and I toured before booking our wedding, and we are so thankful that we followed our hearts and held our special day in this beautiful place. From the moment we first arrived at Meyer’s Castle, we knew that the beauty alone would be unmatched anywhere else. The entire grounds are simply stunning, and especially in the spring and summer are so full of greenery and blooms. The property is very well kept and they have done several updates recently to raise the wow factor even more! The staff at the castle was always very friendly, and our coordinator, Eva, was in communication with them for over a year to help plan the logistics and details of the day. I cannot say enough good things about Eva, she was absolutely amazing in every sense and was a huge part of making my wedding dreams a reality. She was always willing to communicate with me and help me get questions answered and updates made.
The food at the castle was so delicious and was a huge hit among our guests. The castle fed 250 people at our wedding and I didn’t hear a single complaint! The food came out smoothly and left everyone satisfied - as the bride, I wish I had had more time to sit and eat! The appetizers during cocktail hour were also really good, and were presented so beautifully it felt very elegant. The bar was also really efficient and did a great job keeping up with such a big wedding. The staff was so professional, friendly, and helpful and we are so thankful for every individual’s work on our wedding day and the months and weeks leading up.
My only complaint about the castle was related to the cost of things. I know everything is expensive right now and as a business they need to do what’s best for their bottom line. That said, I did feel that we were a little “nickle and dimed” throughout the process - which, to be fair, is common with venues, I know. With the cost of just renting the space and hosting the event there at all, I was just a little shocked at all the extra charges they wanted for simple votive candles, bar extras, bridal/groom suites for getting ready, etc. We found ways to make things work and DIY’d here and there to offset some of the cost, but I felt it was worth mentioning here. Although things did add up quickly, I feel that everything was truly worth it and I wouldn’t change a thing about what we chose to purchase through the castle. They did an impeccable job on every detail and we are thrilled with the final outcome.
Overall, my experience with Meyer’s Castle was overwhelmingly positive and we are so thankful that we found them when we did. There is no venue that compares in the area if you are looking for a beautiful garden estate. We had so many of our guests tell us that our wedding was the best and most beautiful wedding they had ever attended, and we have to agree. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in our special day, it was beyond our wildest dreams and felt completely perfect for us. We don't have our professional photos back yet but I will include a few pictures that our guests snapped!
We had our wedding here this past Saturday in June and we could not be happier that we picked this venue. It is absolutely stunning and fulfilled my dreams of getting married at a castle! The food was great and the grounds are well cared for. The bridal suite is designed so elegantly and very comfortable to get ready with family and friends. Our coordinator Eva was such a joy to work with. She was so helpful the whole year leading up to wedding day. She would text me back with any questions I had. The day of our wedding she made sure the groom and I were comfortable and fed the whole day. There was rain right at ceremony time but after 20 mins it blew over and we still had our dream ceremony outside under the beautiful green arch. Even after the delayed start dinner was still on time thanks to Eva. She is truly a miracle worker and I don't know how we would have survived the day without her. Thank you Meyer's Castle and Eva for making our wedding day so memorable!
My now-husband Andrew and I searched for the perfect venue for our wedding for a while. Based on a friend's suggestion, we checked out Meyer's Castle. It was breathtaking and felt special. The premises are in a very nice neighborhood and are perfect for a fairytale ceremony. After the friendly walkthrough with their venue tour guide, we were set to book Meyer's Castle! They provided a preferred vendor list and we ended up hiring most of our vendors from that list and were very happy. While our wedding was perfect, we could have enjoyed this beautiful venue a bit more by extending an hour or two, but it was our own fault for not thinking about that ahead of time. Everyone had so many compliments to make about the venue - it was very gorgeous, peaceful, and intimate. I would highly recommend it to couples thinking of a dream-come-true wedding at a beautiful and classy venue. This is the one!
Beautiful, well-kept, classic, and elegant, with a wonderful atmosphere and acoustics. The grounds were well-maintained. We were there too early in the season (March 5) for the flowers and foliage to have grown in, but I am sure it is even more beautiful when the gardens are in full bloom, probably in April. Highly recommended!
Had my wedding here on 9.29.23 and it was absolutely amazing! The food, service and venue were all top notch! We received many, many compliments on the food from the guests. Kate was our coordinator and she was OUTSTANDING! The venue was very, very accommodating with all our requests, especially after our first venue caught on fire. Do not look any further for a better venue and a better event coordinator!
We could not have asked for a more beautiful reception or a better experience! Meyer's Castle was absolutely stunning (see photos), and our wedding day was magical. Kate Madrigal was our event coordinator, and she made my vision come to life! The service was wonderful, the food was amazing, and it was an absolutely perfect day. Our friends and family raved about the location and setting. Thank you!
Perfect wedding venue! Our son and his bride recently had their wedding here. Everything was absolutely beautiful and went incredibly well. From the decorations, the setting, the ceremony to the reception they couldn’t have picked a more beautiful place! Can’t wait to see all the pictures! We highly recommend!
We had our wedding at Meyer's Castle in November of this year and it was absolutely perfect. The team worked closely with us to make sure every detail was the way we envisioned, the food was incredible, and the venue space looked amazing. Highly recommend booking the bridal suite - they just remodeled and it is truly a mini Anthropologie - so cute for pictures of you and your girls getting ready in the morning. We also booked the speakeasy for our cocktail hour, and our guests loved it. Everyone seemed to have a really nice time! We worked very closely with Kate Madrigal, who I truly can't say enough nice things about. She was very patient, and detail oriented on every aspect making sure our day was perfect... and it was. Thank you, Kate!!
The only thing I would recommend against is booking their preferred DJ, Mark. We had multiple conversations with him prior to the date and seemed to be on the same page until the night of when he went rouge with song choices that were off of the provided playlists and what we previously had talked about. He also wasn't taking requests from guests, who later told me that he was rude to them when they went up to make a request.
Other than that, the night was perfect and I wish we could do it all over again!
This was worth every penny!! The staff was awesome, the food was delicious, and the photos came out absolutely gorgeous!! You will not regret having your wedding here.
We had our ceremony and reception at Meyer’s Castle and from start to finish it was absolute PERFECTION! The staff has worked to create a unique and intimate experience for the guests and with our smaller wedding, it was exactly what we hoped for. We had the pleasure of working with one of their wedding coordinators who had a remarkable attention to detail. Food, service, location, literally everything was what envisioned for our special day and we can’t thank Eva and the rest of the staff at Meyer’s Castle for helping make our dream wedding a reality.
My wife, Rosalind, just left a review, and I would like to confirm her words, as this venue is amazing! Our family members are still talking about our wedding. My wife and I are both crazy about winter, so this venue was the perfect choice for our event!
Yesterday, we sat with the family at the Christmas dinner, engaging in warm conversations and reminiscing about our beautiful wedding last year. We hosted it on Dec 23, 2022, at Meyer’s Castle, right before Christmas Eve. We wanted to have a Christmas wedding with the long weekend ahead of us, so we started our celebration on Friday!
Meyer’s Castle is the perfect place for a winter wedding as its old castle aesthetics create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our wedding planning process was smooth and enjoyable, thanks to the amazing team at the venue. From the moment we set foot on the estate's grounds, we knew it was the one and didn't need to look anywhere else.
The venue doesn't allow you to bring your own catering company, but their chef and kitchen team are exceptional. The food didn't taste like typical “wedding food” served at banquets. I would compare the food at Meyer's Castle to that of the Wildfire Steak House in Chicago. Yes, it was that good. If you've been to this restaurant (our favorite), you know what I mean. Just know that the food at your wedding at MC will be of the same high standard, if not better. Their wedding packages also include five hours of unlimited liquor, which was great value for us. You can't really beat that!
We had 70 guests at our reception, which we hosted in one of Meyer's Castle's ballrooms called The Oak Room. It was beautiful, with large panoramic windows. The venue allowed us to bring our own Christmas tree and decorations, and we rented green linens and red bows for the chairs directly from them. This place offers a wide range of decor options, which is again great value as it saves you a lot of money and time on logistics. The only thing we brought was a tree, which may sound kind of crazy, but since we had the wedding on Friday, the venue owner kindly allowed us to come and decorate on Thursday, as there were no other weddings on weekdays. You don't get the same luxury if you book on a Saturday or Sunday, and we are really happy that we chose Friday because it provided more flexibility and helped us avoid all the hassle.
Overall, we highly recommend Meyer's Castle to everyone looking for a venue that stands out among others and will impress your guests!
We are forever grateful to you, Meyer’s Castle staff! My husband and I made our tour appointment over a two years ago in November 2021. This was our first venue we looked at and we were completely blown away with the beauty of Meyer’s Castle and how friendly and personable the staff was. Standing in the gazebo as they played music, my husband and I could not see ourselves getting married anywhere else. After our tour and when we received the open dates, we immediately put a hold on a date for September 2023.
Our contract signing appointment was so memorable. We met with Elizabeth and Kate. The morning was filled with getting to know each other and making sure they understood what we envision for our special day. My husband and I felt so comfortable and excited. Meyer’s Castle makes the planning process seamless! They provide you an extensive list of preferred vendors that they have worked with for many years. However, if you want to use a different vendor, you sure can! We went with all preferred vendors for our special day!
Our day was magical! We had 300+ guests and they were blown away with the beauty of Meyer’s Castle. You feel as if you walked into a fairyland when you are at Meyer’s Castle and can't believe you are still in the Midwest Area. We are beyond grateful to have had our wedding at Meyer’s Castle! My husband and I can't stop talking about our day. Our guest have told us many times "that was the best wedding I have ever been to!” . It was a day we waited for almost two years for and completely worth the wait!
Wish I could rate them ZERO stars. Unresponsive, unprofessional, unorganized, and incapable of providing quality service. They failed to follow through with key elements of my reception that were in my contract, which I was promised and reassured over and over would be executed. I didn’t think a bar at “cocktail” hour would be so outrageous of a request. Or for a bartender to actually make drinks instead of text or give attitude to guests about doing her job and for the other bartender to serve drinks instead of disappear for 30+ min. Or servers to serve dinner when they’re asked to. (The list goes on.)
I had to go back Monday after my wedding and get my Michael Aram cake knife and serving set/ cake stand from a worker who claimed multiple times he “didn’t know where it was” until I asked to look in the kitchen myself. I was then BLOCKED by them months later on Instagram for no reason? I noticed when I went to tag them in a wedding post. If that doesn’t admit fault, not sure what does. The owner Daniel gaslit me the Monday after my wedding, spoke rudely to me and belittled me and blamed everything that went wrong on my event coordinator. Lastly they sell the space as max 325 guests, but when I said I am expecting 300, they acted like I did something wrong inviting so many people and said they would not fit. If you want a smooth wedding, do yourself a favor and do NOT book here. The pretty atmosphere wasn’t even worth what I went through with them for a year. I’m sure they’re going to respond to this saying it is all untrue, but why would I have any reason to say these things if my wedding day wasn’t tarnished by them?
Meyer's Castle was a fabulous venue to host our wedding. Everything they said they would do, they did. There were no hidden costs, and everything was handled in a professional manner. The wedding coordinators were wonderful as well. Thank you, MC, for a memorable wedding!!!
My husband and I hosted our wedding reception here in October. Kate went above and beyond to ensure our big day felt truly special. The building is absolutely stunning and distinctive. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed exploring the various spaces, making our wedding truly stand out from all others.
Our wedding was beautiful, we couldn’t have asked for a better day or venue. The castle was a stunning backdrop for our wedding. We had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception at Meyer’s Castle and each piece came perfectly together. The newly redecorated bridal suite is gorgeous and my bridal party and I felt like royalty getting ready. The florals and gardens were stunning and there is an Instagram worthy photo spot around every corner. Our coordinator, Eva, did a great job setting up all of our decor and was very communicative throughout the planning process. Eva and the MC team accommodated everything we wanted to include on our special day and our guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about our wedding. Everyone loved the food and even loved the table wine, numerous guests took photos of the wine so that they could buy a bottle later on. We are so glad to have started the rest of our lives together after saying “I Do” at Meyer’s Castle; surrounded by family, friends, and 2 beautiful peacocks that roam the grounds.
Our wedding at Meyer’s Castle was so much better than what we ever could have envisioned. Gardens/greenery, a speakeasy, the fairytale bridal suite, the ballroom, peacocks- The grounds were SPECTACULAR. The food- DELICIOUS. The hors d’oeuvres and desserts were excellent, and don’t sleep on that Chicken Florentine entree! The entire staff went above and beyond to make sure every guest felt like royalty. A very SPECIAL shout-out to our coordinator, Kate who put so much time, effort, and energy into making our day perfect, even before the actual wedding day fielding all of our numerous questions.
Our wedding at The Castle was whimsical, grandiose, and a true spectacle.

I could t be happier with this vendor! Talk about making it so the Bride is stress free!!! Everything was so beautiful and we had an amazing time. Kate was an amazing coordinator and she made my life a breeze. Very professional and before I could even ask, it was taken care of. Thank you to everyone at this venue!!
Meyer's Castle is a wonderful venue. Everyone is very friendly, and extremely helpful. This was the first time anyone in my family had really had to plan a wedding, and venue's team made my day absolutely perfect!! If you would like a beautiful, elegant, historic venue, this is the place to look.
This is an absolutely AMAZING venue. It is breathtaking just upon driving in, and the gardens were outstanding. Meyer’s Castle’s staff were extremely helpful throughout the wedding planning process and very responsive to any questions. Everyone was amazing the day of and helped make the day run so smoothly. The flowers around are stunning based on the seasons, and the views are incredible. The food and drinks were great and there is so much to choose from. Everyone loved their time here.
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Meyer's Castle and I cannot recommend it enough! I had originally planned to have my event at a different venue, but unfortunately, it had caught on fire and I was left scrambling for a new location. Luckily, Meyer's Castle was able to accommodate me with less than 3 weeks' notice and I couldn't be happier that I ended up there instead.
From the moment I stepped onto the grounds, I was immediately struck by the beautiful snowy landscape. The castle itself was absolutely stunning and felt like something out of a fairytale. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure that every detail was taken care of and that my guests and I felt right at home.
But of course, the highlight of the evening was the food. The catering team at Meyer's Castle did not disappoint - everything was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely divine.
Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience at Meyer's Castle. While it wasn't my original plan, I'm actually glad that my original venue fell through because Meyer's Castle turned out to be an even better fit. The snowy grounds were absolutely magical, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, and the food was out of this world. If you're looking for a truly special and memorable event space, look no further than Meyer's Castle!
From start to finish, Meyer's Castle provided excellence in individualized service. At all times, we felt our questions were answered, our requests met and our dream for our special day fulfilled. We highly recommend this venue for a wedding or event of any kind. It will be a memorable occasion.
This venue was a dream come true! The lush English garden, architecture, and the overall ambiance was like from a movie. The staff was professional and experienced, and it was very easy to work with them. The morning of our wedding was raining, and I was so worried about our timeline, but the staff was so quick with a plan B just in case the rain would continue into the afternoon. It actually ended up being great, the rain stopped, and the sun shinned bright just in time for the ceremony. It was magical!
We had our intimate 35-person Sunday morning brunch wedding in Meyer’s Castle this summer and could not have asked for a better experience. Elizabeth and the team MC were INCREDIBLE and accommodating throughout the entire process - we had to plan the entire thing from out of town and they made it as easy as possible for us. The venue itself was absolutely gorgeous. 10/10 recommend.
NYE Wedding Review! 12/31/13
I don't know where to begin, best place to get married! We had the ceremony and reception in the West canopy for 66 guests. The setting outside and inside the castle made for great pictures. The bridal suite was beautiful as well. The florist created a beautiful indoor gazebo draped in white fabric and lit with white lights which we married under as well as ate our dinner at the sweetheart table under (we didn't have a bridal party).
Our wedding planner Eva was amazing. I thank her for everything the past year and that night. She was there for me and my thousands of questions all year and completely ran the night on NYE! Everything was timed up right with entrances, ceremony, music, food etc. We had a small delay with the shuttles from our hotel and they were incredibly accommodating with holding the ceremony.
The meal was fantastic. We went with chicken Provençal and the guests were raving about it all night. I wanted a confetti cake for it being my favorite and NYE, so the baker Eva set us up with customized our cake that way. They also had a nacho bar for everyone at 10pm for a late night snack!
The DJ the castle uses, John, was awesome. He played every song we requested and announced everything perfectly on time.
Our officiant was Dr. Louise A. Chickie-Wolfe. Eva found her for us and was absolutely amazing. Look her up :)
For being their first NYE wedding along with the big NYE dinner and club party they hold each year, we feel they did amazing job and handled everything so professionally. It was a great start to the new year and our marriage :)
After looking at tons of venues along the front range, none of them even held a candle to Meyer’s Castle. Elizabeth and the entire staff at Meyer’s Castle made planning infinitely easier- especially planning from out of state. I can't say this enough- all inclusive is the way to go! No random hidden fee's, or paying for things you don't need to- they're up front and totally honest about everything and genuinely just want to make sure your wedding day is the best day of your life! Not only does it make everything less stressful, but everything included is amazing! The food was incredible, the cake was delicious, our flowers were gorgeous, and the service at Meyer’s Castle is unparalleled. The venue is absolutely stunning, and getting ready in the bridal suite the morning of with my girls will forever be one of my favorite memories, right next to having our ceremony on the gorgeous veranda and tearing it up on the dance floor thanks to the DJ that my guests still say was the best they'd ever seen at a wedding. Thank you so much for everything Meyer’s Castle’s staff, you made our day absolutely flawless!
Fantastic location for a wedding and wedding reception...venues gorgeous and service was fantastic.
Meyer’s Castle was absolutely gorgeous, the grounds, the house, everything! If you’re looking for a location that is beautiful, period , this place is perfect. I wanted an outdoor ceremony but the moment I saw the ballroom in person I completely changed my mind. It sooooo elegant! The grounds have everything you want for pictures, a little forested area for woodsy shots, open landscaping and large veranda for group photos.
I had my ceremony and reception at Meyer’s Castle and it was perfect thanks to our wonderful wedding coordinator, Brenda. She met with us many times prior to the big day. Everything was organized and went exactly as planned, and I truly can say that my wedding day was perfect. Brenda did such a good job with keeping everything on schedule. She was also very helpful with referring vendors to me. Any questions I had, she alway had the answer. Brenda has been in event planning for many years, and her experience really shows! I couldn’t have asked for a better coordinator. I definitely will recommend her to any of my friends/family that are getting married!
This is an amazing wedding venue. If you have the money to spend it will be well worth your money.
Meyer’s Castle is amazing! What first drew us to the venue is the natural beauty of the estate and the options for an outside ceremony. Also they are pet-friendly for outside ceremonies - which was a must for us. I had been "Facebook stalking" the venue way before I even got engaged. The venue can be both indoor and outdoor which is a comfort for brides who want an outdoor wedding, but know how unpredictable Midwest weather can be. We were able to have an outdoor ceremony with an indoor, air-conditioned reception without our guests having to travel! I really can't say enough good things about Meyer’s Castle. I honestly don't think there is another venue out there that truly even compares.
This venue is outstanding! The location, food, drinks, staff - all were excellent and everyone worked so hard to make our day perfect. I can't recommend them enough!
Meyer’s Castle was my first choice in terms of where I wanted to get married. Heck, I was in the waitlist for two years so I could get married here. First look, the venue was beautiful and it fit my now wife and I perfectly. At the time when I chose Meyer’s Castle I had no idea how easy and great the employees were to work with! Every time I emailed or called they answered me within a very timely manner with the best advice. Two years in advance there isn't a lot of little details to think of, it is usually the big details you are coming up with at this time, but when it came down to the little details Meyer’s Castle staff was there every step of the way. Elizabeth, Kate, Carolyn & Lisa are full of ideas and advice. They checked in with me & my wife multiple times and made sure everything that we wanted and dreamed of was taken care of. You can tell Meyer’s Castle cares, it is not just a job for them.
From the moment I saw Meyer’s Castle, I knew I wanted to get married there. It’s one of the most breathtaking venues that I have ever seen and literally takes your breath away. We are so blessed to have amazing parents who made it possible for us to have our wedding here. The service was amazing, ambiance was perfect and it was definitely such a day to remember. Although it is expensive, you definitely get what you pay for!
My husband and I had our wedding here in June 25 2022. The entire day was absolutely amazing, the food was incredible, and the grounds are so perfectly landscaped. Classy & green. I was very impressed with this estate even though I’ve visited hundreds of local Chicago wedding venues. A review on here can’t even put into words how amazing this venue is. The entire Meyer’s Castle’s staff genuinely want you to have the best day of your lives. The food was amazing - our guests have not stopped raving since they left. Our phones haven’t stopped ringing! The compliments and positive feedback from our guests continue to flood in. Honestly everything at Meyer’s Castle was so perfect and the beauty of the venue speaks for itself. You will not find another venue like this one, I can promise you that.
If you have been imagining a castle wedding, then this is your venue. The grounds and castle are immaculately preserved and maintained. Meyer’s Castle was stunning and fit our whimsical, sophisticated, Scottish highlands classic garden wedding theme. Best part of my wedding was their wonderful staff. If there was an issue on my wedding day I never knew it because my Meyer’s Castle’s wedding coordinator took care of it. They answer phone calls and email promptly and are very detail orientated. Food was amazing as well! Our guests are still talking about how very beautiful everything was.
Beautiful, well kept, classic and elegant. Wonderful atmosphere and acoustic. This is an actual Scottish castle that was transported over brick by brick. the grounds are amazing, the inside is amazing, great views of the water, definitely a spectacular place to have a wedding at. They made us feel like royalty.
My wife and I had our wedding reception at Meyer's Castle on December 2nd 2017. We could not be more happy with the way things turned out. We had a perfect day, the hall was beautifully decorated, the staff was polite and professional, and the food was amazing. The castle grounds looked beautiful, especially during the sunset. The peacocks were out throughout the evening and really entertained our guests. When issues arose (spilled drinks, guest inquiries), they were dealt with promptly and professionally. We would highly recommend Eva Williams as a wedding coordinator to help plan and run your event. She was amazing and ran a tight ship. The only draw back to the night was the shuttle service from the parking lot to the hall. We were told that the driver scheduled called off so they had to find a sub last minute and many of our guests had to walk. Other than that, we highly recommend Meyer's Castle as a venue to host any special event. Thanks for making our special day even more memorable.
This venue was God sent. I was looking for the perfect venue for an intimate civil ceremony. My sister mentioned this venue. I went to visit and I fell in love. It is the perfect venue for a romantic wedding. And wonderful for any special occasion. The bridal sweet was specious and convenient. Not to mention the service, food, drinks, and overall ambiance. Great management and staff: Elizabeth and Carolyn were so pleasant. Our experience was beyond our expectations. My husband and I had the wedding of our dreams and our guest were blown away with the venue. Oh and not to mention what a beautiful touch the peacocks add to the experience. I suggest scheduling a visit! I hope my review will help many.
Wow wow wow! I'm finding it hard to summarize my experience with Meyer’s Castle into a simple, short review because of the amount of work and tireless effort that was put into my experience here.
For the past year, I have been working closely with their team to plan our outdoor 150 person wedding. They helped to take out all the stress of planning the day that I been thinking of most of my life. From the very beginning, our expectations were met with top-notch customer service. The follow up and thank you days later was a nice touch. I wanted to book this venue for my wedding since I came across it on a google search, but after seeing the property, the 1920s castle style mansion and beautiful gardens, we were absolutely sure we weren't going to explore any other options. Each moment of our day was orchestrated perfectly and it is because of all the work the Meyer’s Castle staff does, especially behind the scenes.
I had my wedding here in September 2020, and overall Meyers Castle exceeded expectations. After reading negative reviews and complaints online, its hard not to be a bit weary about how your wedding day will play out. From the start, they were always quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. Any questions or concerns I had were answered promptly. The owners/staff members/grounds keepers/kitchen staff/bartenders I met were all very friendly, helpful, and fun to be around. I am so happy I got assigned an amazing wedding coordinator (Kathrine Madrigal). She was able to make all of my wedding visions come true, and went above and beyond to make sure I didn't have to stress or worry about anything leading up the to the wedding, during the rehearsal/walk-through, and the actual day of the wedding. The castle itself was immaculate, the photos alone were worth booking this venue. The grounds are well kept, lots of greenery and flowers, the castle itself is so unique, and the canopy rooms photograph beautifully. The food that was served at the wedding was actually better than the food we sampled at our tasting. I was very impressed, and so were my guests. We received so many compliments on how delicious the food was, how strong and tasty the drinks were, how friendly all the staff was, and everyone truly enjoyed themselves amidst a pandemic wedding. The peacocks came out to greet guests, and one of them actually walked in the grass along the stairs when my Dad and I were walking towards the aisle. The cake was delicious, our decorations turned out how I envisioned, and thankfully we had perfect weather. Our photographers couldn't get enough of the place, there were too many beautiful backdrops and areas to choose from. From the stairs, to the gazebo, to the arch walkway, we have over 1,000 photos because we ended up taking pictures everywhere. We might not have had as many guests as we originally planned, but everything worked out how we wanted in the end. The convenience of renting the bridal suite was so worth it. I have so many positive things to say, and overall I have no regrets that I chose Meyers Castle for my wedding venue. Thank you for making our wedding day so special for us, our family, and our friends!
Should you ever get the opportunity to have an event at the Meyer’s Castle, without hesitation, take it!!! It offers spectacular views of gardens and statues, foliage, ponds, archways and trellises, the gazebo and walking paths around the well manicured grounds. Although the building itself has been updated it still provides a medieval charm and opulence. The rooms are decorated with amazing displays of lights and tapestries that transport you into a fairy tale that is only surpassed by a selection of some of the best cuisine you can find. The filet mignon is one of the most succulent you will ever have. Also, don’t skip the roasted potatoes and the lemon cake. The peacocks that roam the area remind you of the beauty of creation and nature. The Meyer’s Castle is a great venue but the real stars are the staff. From the moment we decided to have our wedding and reception at the Meyer’s Castle, it was like you joined a family. They really get to know you. Kate, thank you for being our Officiant. There is absolutely no one that could have done a better job. The ceremony was spirited, personal, fun and full of joy. Carolyn, you were a quiet powerhouse. You worked in the background making sure everything was done to perfection. Lisa, the floral arrangements were stunning. Both at the altar and gazebo and during the reception. We couldn’t have imagined them any better. Elizabeth, thank you so much for your kindness and patience. The Meyer’s Castle Team helped us bring our vision to life and that most undoubtedly will do the same for anyone blessed to have an event there.
Humbly submitted and Forever thankful and grateful for the Meyer’s Castle Team!!!
Sean and Jacqueline Foster.
Meyer's Castle is AMAZING. This was the first venue that we visited in our search and it ended up being the ONLY one. It really is a hidden treasure right on the border of Illinois & Indiana. It took us about 30-40 min to arrive from Chicago. Being the groom, the thing that really sold this place to me is their speakeasy (lounge) that you can rent as an addition to the designated ball room and reception area. Pretty cool room finished in paneled oak, stone with an old world style fireplace. We used the VIP area for the guys to get ready before. I read in some newspapers that it was built in 1920s during prohibition era, which makes sense as it definitely has that feel. We hired a jazz orchestra from Chicago which was a perfect compliment to our 1920s Great Gatsby theme wedding.
Me and my husband are of Scottish descent but were born in Chicago. For us the traditions of the country where our grandparents came from are very important. That is why when I was planning our wedding, I wanted to recreate the atmosphere of old Edinburgh. You can't even imagine how happy I was when I found out that there is an old Scottish-style castle in the Midwest. My husband and I love winter. Yes, this is very unusual. That’s why we decided to celebrate our wedding during the holiday season in December 2021. The main decoration of our ballroom was a large Christmas tree. Our wedding color palette was red and green plaid with big bows on each chair, our silverware was gold plated which was inspired by the Ralph Lauren Home catalogs. We took a lot of ideas from them.
Also, I can't even describe how beautiful the snowy grounds of the castle looked on our wedding day. I understand that not everyone loves winter like we do, but if you are that rare kind of person, then trust me this place is definitely for you. Not every wedding location can boast that it can look perfect in any season of the year, but Meyer’s Castle definitely does!
At first I was a bit nervous because of some reviews. But ignore those reviews!!! Of course this is an older venue, so there’s character to it! But that’s what makes it Meyer’s castle! My husband and I had our wedding there on Saturday and all of our guests loved the venue, the food, and let’s not forget the peacocks!
Carolyn and Elizabeth are great to communicate with and are very very patient! (thank you to you both for my panic bride moments) Carolyn was my wedding coordinator and she was a blessing to have. She made my wedding flow so nicely!
10/10 would recommend!!!!
We had our wedding at Meyer’s Castle and it was PERFECT!! Every detail was absolutely perfect! We used their florist and our flowers were the most beautiful, fresh flowers we’ve ever seen! All of our guests said that the food was so good! I was so busy that I didn’t pay much attention to the food, so I have to take their word for it. The owner and chef were very careful to address and accommodate options for people with food sensitivities. The property is so well kept that it gave us so many options to take stunning photos! The staff is so professional and responsive!! Our wedding turned out better than we imagined!
This venue is amazing. DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!!! We had no problems on our wedding day!!we had ceremony and reception here with 200 people. It was perfect!! People post about the egg smell of water but it’s a venue that is old and can’t change to city water so it’s well water. They cook and serve purified water and filtered water for drinking. I suggest buying bath and body works candles for bathroom, I had leaves scent all around the castle and it was the perfect touch for our Fall rustic wedding!!! CAROLYN IS THE BEST!! Hire her for coordinating your wedding. She made sure everything went smoothly and that my husband and I were very happy with everything. I would suggest this venue to anyone. My family and other guests are asking me how I found this Castle and how much they loved the food! It was Chicken Marsala we went with!! It was amazing and roasted potatoes are insanely good!! I have no negative things to say about this venue. I can’t wait to see our pictures from this BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL CASTLE!! How many people can say they got married in a castle!!! AGAIN CAROLYN WAS AMAZING!!! Kept in contact with me about everything!!! HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE!! 10-9-20 wedding day!!
My wife and I just had our wedding here this past Friday! It was everything we dreamt of and more. Covid put a lot of stresses on our wedding planning, but finding Meyers Castle was the best thing to happen to us. Gorgeous venue, great staff, FANTASTIC FOOD and beautiful scenery. Our coordinator Carolyn went above and beyond to make our day perfect. Our wedding was PERFECTLY AMAZING. We highly suggest this venue!
My wedding at Meyer's Castle was wonderful! The venue is gorgeous! We received many compliments, everyone loved the peacocks! The coordinator, Eva, is fantastic! She put together an amazing wedding and was such a pleasure to work with!
This was the worst experience of my life for what should have been the happiest.
My timeline was changed a month before my wedding without an option or discussion. Their florist changed his quote 2 months before my wedding. The coordinator and the owner gave me excuse after excuse and rarely did I receive an apology! I was told time and time again I would receive an email or a quote for a added or removed service and would never get it or would receive it incomplete of my requests.
I envisioned dining style tables and it took MONTHS to get a quote and after receiving the quote it was the wrong size, I never got the tables nor an apology, but I did receive plenty of excuses.
I asked that a Manager call me months before my wedding and only a week before my wedding did the owner call- she 100% did not care of the long list of issues and did not make anything right.
The air was broke and a maintenance man was witnessed PEEING ON IT with his PACKAGE OUT! To this day they tell me it was not broke, however every single person at my venue would tell you it was and nearly half my guests stayed outside because of it. Also why was there a maintenance man working on it? They tell me he was just "checking it out"
Glass was broke by a server and not cleaned for over a half hour, my sister stepped in it and relatives took it upon themselves to pick up pieces, a server did not fully clean it for over a half hour.
Many of my guests did not receive what they ordered. Brides immediate family table did not get what they ordered. Grooms Immediate Family Table got all Steak and Mother of Groom had to tell them to fix it. Sister-in-law was vegetarian and they just put both steak and chicken in front of her since they didn't know what she had. Almost all of my head table trade plates since they didn't get what they wanted.
I have over two pages worth of issues, this place wants to make money but does not care about the outcome, don't use this venue. I have had many many emails and conversations and nothing was every made right, not even a discount for the lack of a working air unit.
We had our wedding and reception on July 3, 2016 and everything was exquisite! The food and cake was delicious and well seasoned, the staff were friendly and very helpful, the florist Ralph did an amazing job with my budget, and Eva my coordinator was the best!!!
My husband and I live in Chicago and were looking for a place to accommodate our budget.
We received a lot of complements on the venue, and they said the cupcakes (since we had a cupcake tower instead of a cake) were incredible.
Also, Eva Williams, our wedding coordinator was fantastic. There was a misunderstanding with the florist, but she made sure all throughout that we were satisfied with the service. At the wedding day, she made sure everything ran smoothly. We really appreciated her work.
I had many problems with this venue and to make a very long story short, I will comment with bullet points. If you decide to book this venue for one of the most important days of your life only because it looks pretty, be ready for major disappointment.
1) The management does not care much about you or your day! It takes weeks, sometimes months (and I'm serious) for them to answer your questions and requests. You might get a "No" for something that is really important to you from one coordinator and a "Yes" from another, when it's too late.
2) Make sure you take pictures at the menu tasting. Food will look completely different on the day of. My steak was different (much, much lower quality), potatoes were different (had "steak fries" looking potatoes at the tasting, but got roasted potatoes at the reception), I substituted zucchini for green beans for the vegetable medley and about 90% of the medley ended up being green beans; chicken marsala looked completely different as well. It was more breaded and the sauce tasted like it came from those boxed meals, nothing like the sauce I tried at the tasting)
3) You have to use their florist and their baker. I specifically (IN BOLD) outlined to my florist that I DID NOT want any blue in my flowers, that I wanted the green teal color and guess what, all my teal flowers ended up being blue and worst of all, SPRAY PAINTED. I was supposed to have teal orchids (real of course) and he could not find them so he decided to spray paint white orchids in blue (because he could not find green teal spray paing), without telling me in advance. He had to fix all of them on the day off, after I saw them, but the orchids that were flowing in water stayed blue, AND FAKE LOOKING.
4) The table for my band and the photographer/videographer were not set when I was told it would be set before the reception started.
5) Food service was long. Tables in the middle of the room were finished and the tables at the end were not even served yet. We did have 300 people at our wedding but if they can’t handle that many, they should not promise that they can.
6) The coordinator will not give you the time of her day unless there is a problem. Every time I met with her, I would walk out of the office (in about 10 minutes) and be completely lost and not sure if my questions were answered. I never felt confident after leaving that office. Not sure if it’s because of how messy it is (that was my #1 clue on how unorganized they are, but I ignored it before signing the contract.. my fault), or because of how vague her answers were. She kept telling me “sure, we can do that.. no problem!” and then you find out (2 weeks before the wedding) that they can’t.
7) If you still ignore your gut feeling like I did, and you end up booking this venue, choose Lisa as your coordinator as that might help you slightly, and don’t expect to be wowed but be ready for some major headaches.
Although if you book your reception through Meyer's Castle you have to use their florist, I would have used Lisa anyway! She has such great ideas and everything went off without a hitch. Very easy to get a hold of and very easy to work with.
I had my wedding here and the staff was soo great. The cordinaters I worked with were so helpful with everything since I had no clue how to start. The Castle is georgous which made for AMAZING pictures and there are peacocks roaming free which the guests loved. Our steak dinner was so good that we are already planning a trip back out to the restaurnt that they have there. Overall experience was just great couldn't be happier!
