When we first met Tracy, my now wife and I were impressed. She was reassuring, as we knew that the type of music that we listen to wouldn't really get people to a dance floor.
On wedding night, the dance floor was busy, and everyone was happy.... One could argue, however, that some of those fools would dance to the sound of a washing machine. Overall, things were fine. Our complaints, however, are these:
All of our other vendors did the final walk-through with us. It helped us know that we were all on the same page for the event. Tracy did not join us.
We choreographed our first dance; Tracy started the song before we were even close to the dance floor. We had to improvise a bit to get on beat.
We had just 2 or 3 "please play these" songs- one being "Coming Home" by Peter Schilling. Instead, she played "Major Tom" by David Bowie. I love Bowie, and both songs are about Major Tom, sure. But the song requested had sentimental reasons for being played, and they are completely different songs.
We first met 9 months before the event, and had apparently given her the same song for the "good luck" song and then later as the last dance song. My belief is that with enough attention to detail, a DJ would point out that a song has been listed to be played twice. We didn't get a copy of what she'd written down 9 months earlier, so it was a shock when we heard our last dance song so early in the night.
I feel like a lot of these issues could have been avoided if Tracy made the effort to join us in the final walk through, or at least touched base one final time before the event. Besides a very brief email chain to make sure she had all the details (initiated by me), there was minimal communication right before the event.
In the end, the DJ services were decent, but not anything I am writing home about.
