Michael's Catering was incredible to work with for my wedding reception. Planning to feed 200+ guests came with many phone calls and long back-and-forth email chains; Hayley and Nikki did an amazing job being present to my questions, needs, and ultimately provided our guests with a selection of the most amazing food. So many of our guests commented that it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. We were given the flexibility to choose our menu: appetizers, buffet items, and desserts. Michael's is also incredible in that it is a one-stop shop: they supplied all of our table linens, plates, silverware, barware, serve-staff, and bartenders. Our event ran so smoothly because of them!! Their staff was professional and polite to all of our guests throughout the evening, ensuring that everyone had what they needed. I would highly, highly recommend their service and food to any couple for their wedding!!!
We choose Michael Catering because my husband worked for them. They were very unprofessional and knew that from the start as my husband worked for them. We thought they would aleast be nicer to deal with as he worked there not so much
In our first meeting with the owners/ event coordinator they were very rude. I ask if the staff could dress nice and have no branded shoes on but solid black the owner said he wasn’t going make his staff pay for the correct shoe to look nice. We went round and round about the appearance of the staff needing to look professional. I ask them to sign. A contract to protect both parties involved and they refuse to do so. I asked for the clear glass plate for our dinner service and the only Thing I could get from the event coordinator Selena is we will do our best and you should be happy with whatever you get because the owner gave you discounts and free items. We never ask for discount for our service but was given to us as my husband worked for the 22 years.
I then called talk to the owner Kyle about what she said and he was like it is what is it is. I promise to have the correct plates .
Fast Forward to the set up of the hall the Owner Haliey and a staff member setup the hall at St Micheals Center They had place stained up napkins on the table for my guest lucky I checked all them while decorating the hall for the wedding if I haven’t there would of been 25 out 100 of them notable stained. We did give them to The lady at the hall and she had them switched out but we shouldn’t have to check there work as they “professionals”. My husband to be went into the kitchen area to put something in the kitchen for the wedding and noticed that the dishes were setting on the counter were the wrong plates They we’re the incorrect one they were the white China plates not the clear glass ones I said I wanted for my wedding design So much for Owner Kyle promise . Luckily my husband to be caught their mistake which he shouldn’t of had to being as it was his wedding The restroom were not cleaned. I did tell Michaels event coordinator/owners during the meeting we had that I was having my own professional decorator coming in and decorate the head table and the owner Haliey took upon her herself to decorate the head table as she saw fit I have include a photo of what she did.

At the wedding reception the owner Kyle was visual sick and other staff member . The food was cold and they forgot rolls on the head table. They also forgot to get he toast champagne for the head table as they said they would. We had to wait to our grand entrance because the had to run to the store to buy it .
My wedding coordinator needed to tell Kyle to speed up service as they were serving the sit down dinner to slow. He also had to be verbal told by the wedding coordinator to stop chatting with the guests and to do his job and get the cake cut.

Sue W. was very unprofessional towards us for our wedding and we are lifetime members of St. Michael’s where the wedding was being held. She also pushed more food on us than we wanted. She was especially very nasty towards us as we and our wedding decor person were setting up and decorating our church’s hall St. Michael’s Centre the day before our wedding day. I have paid for 2 wedding receptions, my daughter’s in 2012 and our wedding in 2021, using Michael’s Catering and Sue W. was never pleasant to work with even back in 2012. Our family has used Michael’s for 3 wedding receptions, 2 funeral luncheons, and I have bought numerous orders from the bakery through the years. I was always recommending Michael’s from the very beginning when they started out in our church’s hall kitchen up until this March 2021. In addition to the horrible treatment by Sue W. for our wedding, over 42 out of 59 wedding guests including my husband and I all ended up sick for several days after eating the food and cake at the wedding reception. 2 guests ended up in the ER. 2 people who were not at the wedding got sick after eating the wedding cake which was given to them from a wedding guest. I planned for over a year to have a safe and Covid free wedding and reception, but I had no control over the caterer or the food. To top everything off NO ONE from Michael’s Catering bothered to contact us knowing we were all sick yet they contacted our parish priest to see how he was doing. The incident was reported to the Lucas County Health Department since the majority of our guests were sick starting the Sunday night after our Saturday reception. So many guests missed several days of work due to being sick after the reception. We also threw out all the extra food that Sue W. forced on us even the food we were going to donate plus our wedding cake after samples were given to the health department. Who wanted to get sick again. We spent over $6,000 to get sick and throw out ALL the food. My only daughter and son-in-law flew in from Iceland and planned to spend a week with us after the wedding but we were all sick up until the day they had to leave. I hadn’t seen my daughter since December 2019 and then the week we were to be together in March 2021 we were all sick. Unfortunately, we also tipped the staff during the reception and found out that we paid for 2 staff members that never showed up, but we were still charged for them on our invoice. We still gave them all the tip money to divide up even though 2 people never showed. It’s apparent to me that middle aged couples’ wedding receptions are NOT valued by Michael’s Catering even though we spent enough money with them for only 59 wedding guests. Only our money is valued. I am still upset over this horrible experience that was supposed to be our wedding reception.
Michael's catered our reception and it was so good! Good tasted great, excellent communication and professionalism. Cake was gorgeous!
Michael's catered my husband and I's reception at the Valentine Theatre on 3/25/17. From the very start Michael's was extremely helpful in planning our menu for our special day!! Sue was our main contact and lead us through the planning process without a hitch. From the tasting dinner to the wedding day, Sue was on top of it! She was able to provide several menu options, as well as tailor the menu to make it exactly as we wanted. The appetizers we chose were a HIT and we received many compliments on having stationary and passed hors d'oeuvres! The meal itself was wonderful and our guests continue to rave about it! The staff was very professional and punctual throughout the entire night! What was even better was Michaels ensured that David and I were served a meal so we could actually enjoy the dinner we chose! Michael's worked great with all of our other vendors and the night went on without a hitch! We highly recommend Michael's for your special day!!
Sue was incredible! She helped my crazy family patiently every step of the way. I had no idea what I was doing when I started planning, and she basically held my hand the entire way. On top of that, chef Michael was SO accommodating to all of our requests and preferences. You won't regret choosing this amazing local business.
Sue was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process - from the tasting to ordering to set up and beyond. The staff and servers were also professional and the food was AMAZING!
Michael’s Gourmet Catering is a family tradition! They catered my wedding 28 years ago and my sister’s wedding almost 27 years ago. We have purchased their cakes for special occasions and used their catering for other smaller events over the years.
Sue was our go-to gal at Michael’s. Sue is so thorough and professional. She was so detail oriented. I knew once we had discussed something with Sue it would be taken care of. Sue helped us with more than just the catering. Michaels provided all the linens, the wait staff, the bartenders and the mixers for the bar. At the Sullivan Center, where the wedding reception was held, you are able to bring in your own alcohol. Sue even helped us determine how much alcohol and what kind to buy.
Most importantly the food was delicious!! It was very important to me that our guests enjoyed the dinner we served them. And they did! We received so many compliments.
I cannot say enough good things about Michael's! We discovered Michael's at a bridal show and from the first taste I was hooked. When we went to our initial meeting with Sue we were very impressed with her professionalism and organization. Each and every time we had an experience with Michael's--whether it was the tasting dinner, meeting with Sue, or just going to the Cafe for lunch it was great! Fantastic food and service every time. Sue gave thoughtful insight to many questions we had in planning, offered suggestions for other vendors we still needed, and genuinely cared about my wedding. Therefore, I never once worried about the food! Sue was physically there each step of the way with her team including the day before to set up and on day of to manage. Our wedding featured a bunch of appetizers, buffet-style dinner with served salad, and various small desserts--we were blown away with all the compliments we received on the food!! It has been a month since our wedding and the first thing anyone wants to talk about to us is the food. The service was very attentive and professional! I'm very glad I chose Michael's and I highly recommend them!
I live in Florida but was planning my wedding in Toledo, OH. I flew up to meet with Michael's Catering 2 years before my wedding. I met with Sue and we went over all the details of what i wanted and what our budget was. A year later when we started getting into the actual details everything that she said she could do within my budget was not true. It turned out to be 3 times the budget to get everything we discussed. I never felt that Sue really cared about me event. I was constantly told that she was too busy and to not worry it will all work out. I would ask for pictures of items we were going to use and she was too busy. 2 months before the wedding she finally told me about more additional charges and i finally had it with her. I found a new caterer and everything worked out great. I loved Michael's food but it was not worth dealing with Sue. She didn't even care that i canceled with her. Never once did i feel like she cared or that my business was important to her.
Michaels was absolutely amazing! Hands down one of the best caterers in Toledo! Sue who coordinates everything is awesome, she is there to help you always and can help with any budget you have! She can make it happen! Everyone at my wedding complemented how awesome the food was! They have taste tastings so you can taste almost everything. I highly recommend them!
We were so impressed with Michael's. Their wait staff was professional and very friendly, the catering manager essentially served as our wedding planner -- she thought of everything. They were extremely hospitable whenever we met with them. The food was amazing -- we got so many compliments from our guests about how much they enjoyed it. Even my vegetable-hating groom wolfed down the green beans. :) So pleased with their service and hope we get an excuse to use them again in the future!
Michael's was hands down the best caterer ever! EVERYONE raved about the food and the service was nothing sort of excellent! Sue the wedding coordinator is FANTASTIC at her job! Will definitely use them in the future!
overall my experience with Michaels was good. The food was excellent, and they set up the hall wonderfully. Thel only hiccup was my hostess didn't seem like she wanted to be there, and it was upsetting that my beverage for the wedding toast wasn't ready. But other than that it was wonderful
The food at our wedding was delicious! Best ever! Everyone loved it. They did a great job helping set up and tear down it really helped me to be lessed dressed on the wedding day! They did great with keeping everything going smoothly!
