We hired Mike for our 3/27 wedding and he was strongly recommended by our wedding coordinator at our venue. Mike is friendly and responsive. His sound quality is great and all of the technology involved worked flawlessly. He mic’d our officiant...
and the volume and clarity was really nice, which was especially important for our livestream we had (just covid things).
However, we did have some issues. In our meeting about a week before our wedding we discussed details for first dance, parent dance, last song, exit song ect. But when the wedding came, I was disappointed in Mike’s follow through of the plans.
The biggest upset of our day came at the end of our evening. After our last dance, Mike did not announce or organize the crowd for our exit that we had planned. The music just stopped, and frankly every guest that I talked to about it thought it was an awkward way to end the night. No good evening announcement, no “hey hey hey goodbye”, nothing. And when I called Mike a few days after the he was apologetic, but I still feel disappointed we didn’t have the exit we planned for our otherwise perfect day.
Some other smaller details, that aren’t a big deal but I think other brides would want to know...
My husband and I had a choreographed first dance and we told Mike this, and that he should play the whole song. Cut to the day of, right before our dance, he asked again if he should play the whole song... slightly annoying but it all worked out. However, we did discuss fading the parent dances around the two minute mark and he didn’t do that. Again not a huge deal, but not what we planned.
We also spent basically a whole year adding songs to a Spotify playlist. These were all songs that we love, that make us want to dance, and were songs that we knew our guests really enjoyed too. While this was not an exclusive list it did have about 5 hours worth of music that Mike could have used during cocktail hour, dinner, and of course dancing. Then the day of, I felt like he was not using the playlist at all. He said in our post-call he had it opened the whole night but I definitely heard many unfamiliar songs. Don’t get me wrong, the song he played were fine and our guests seemed to enjoy it. However, I knew better and was not 100% satisfied.
I do think based on prior reviews and recommendations that this was probably just an off night for Mike. But reviews aren’t about excuses, they are about experiences and ours was lackluster. Overall, it felt like Mike lacked the energy and attention to detail that was needed to provide an excellent service.
