I left a more broad review on WeddingWire, and since The Knot has a character limit, I'll try to be more brief.
We got hosed by another caterer about 5 weeks out from our wedding ...
date, and we checked the vendor list our elopement photographer made for us, looked at their menu, and decided to reach out. Quickly got a video call scheduled, told them the logistics on what we wanted to do, location, budget, etc. They said they had our date available, and they'd send us a proposal and quote in about a week. We didn't realize by that point where they were located, we just assumed our vendor's lists were mostly local. or close-by. Had no clue they were 4 hours away. With every opportunity they had to mention how far away they were from our location, any flat fees off the top and how much they'd end up conflicting with our budget, they didn't do so.
But not only that, we had to reach out multiple times for the proposal, and they didn't send it until 3 weeks after the call, which was less than 2 weeks out from our wedding day - and it took us reaching out to our photographer to see if she could see what was going on to get them to send it.
We had 10 people overall to feed, and were trying to set a budget of $1,500 against their self-described price range of $70-200.
The proposal we were given with no apology on the delay, came out to $480/per person for [1] entree, [2] sides, [3] appetizers, [1] cocktail, [1] small dessert.
It included the following rates:
$800 chef day rate
- $360 bartender day rate
- $470 travel rate (x2 for 2 people)
- $45 for one cocktail for each of our guests
- $750 operations charge
The menu in many aspects did not resemble what we'd requested either.
Travel rates aren't unreasonable. What is unreasonable is knowing you have these rates, knowing what our budget is, and failing to mention it's a non-starter. And that would have been fine 5 weeks out on a video call. We had time to lock in someone else. But less than 2 weeks, we were now panicking.
We never followed up we were so livid, but we also had to scramble to figure out a new plan. As it were, they never followed up either, which tells me they couldn't care either way if we locked in or not by that point. But if we agreed to pay the $4,800 quote, they surely they'd be more than happy to gouge us.
And because of their actions, we actually did not end up having a caterer for dinner on the night of our wedding. We had to make to-go orders from a local restaurant, and ask one of 2 of our 8 guests to jump through hoops to pre-prep a dinner setting with what the lodge happened to have, go pick up the food, and plate, and present it themselves, rather than spend the entire day with us as our guests. And honestly, it was miles better than what Miere Catering would've provided, in my estimation.
Couples need to beware before reaching out to this immensely unprofessional, overpriced company, especially if you're reaching out to them because they've fancied themselves as a "traveling caterer". They almost ruined our wedding night, and they could potentially ruin yours too.
Delicious food! We had a small, intimate wedding at Mt. Rainier, and we didn't want to have a ton of vendors/strangers running around the reception. Jeremy did such a wonderful job...
, not only cooking us an amazing dinner and setting out our cake display, but also maneuvered around the cabin like a ninja and people hardly noticed he was there. It was absolutely perfect. Anne and Kara were wonderful collaborators leading up to the wedding as well, and were very eager to make sure all the details were right. Would highly recommend miere!!
Kara and Anne are superstars! They pulled together the perfect menu for our wedding in no time! Kara’s food is so amazing and our guests can’t stop talking about it even after the ...
event! They went above and beyond in every way possible and we could not have picked a better team for our wedding day! Thank you Miere Catering for making our wedding dinner a wonderful memory!
Miere was amazing to work with for our wedding! Annie and Kara brought our vision to life when several other catering options only gave us their pre-set menus. The family-style tac...
os for the dinner were the biggest hit, with the most perfectly cooked salmon and steak (among excellent carnitas and shrimp as well!). Our guests were raving about the tortillas, guacamole, passed appetizers, and breakfast bar as well. I would highly recommend Miere for any event - we had about 75 guests at a boutique hotel and Miere rocked it the entire weekend!
Definitely hire Miere for your adventure elopement!! They were a joy to work. They are really the best of the best in Washington for hiking elopements for catering and meals at you...
r lodging and in remote places. Chef Kara worked with me to create our wedding day menu and listened to all of my requests. Chef Jeremey with Miere's team was able to provide us breakfast, lunch, and dinner on our wedding day, which made the day so easy. He even came and cooked us dinner at a picnic area in the Cascades. Talk about luxury on your wedding day!! Everything was perfect. Highly recommend their service. Thanks, Miere!
Miere catering exceeded all expectations! The food Kara made for our mountain elopement was phenomenal. As good as any fine dining restaurant I've been to, gorgeous presentation, a...
nd she cooked it all on what appeared to be essentially a Coleman camp stove (?!?). Incredible. Kara worked with us to customize the perfect vegetarian menu for our 10-person event. We were also able to order our cake and rentals through her which was super helpful (and the rental selection was excellent). Great communication throughout. LGBTQ friendly. All the stars. 10/10. Book her now.
Had a signed contract listing the price, menu, etc and paid the full deposit. Caterer then waited until 60 days before the wedding and wanted to double the price for the same servi...
ce. They absolutely refused to fulfill their own, original contract. At least they returned the deposit. This caterer does not honor their word (or contracts for that matter), I’d be very careful working with them.
Amazing and professional! Food was so fantastic and beautiful I was blown away by Kara
