We hired Mike Moon Studio for our wedding last month and overall, we were disappointed. We are based in Seattle and had our wedding in the Atlanta area so we did not have a chance to meet with Mike Moon Studio before booking. Justin was our p...hotographer (we were one of his last weddings as I understand he’s moving on), Todd edited our photos, someone else took care of invoicing, and Joel was our point of contact. Justin was amazing! I wish I had given him more direction on how I wanted things to look and which photos I wanted because for example: for our first look, he took charge and in retrospect I didn’t completely like how he staged everything. We also had absolutely no photos of guests during the ceremony or reception (we only had dancing photos of guests and we didn’t care for those). He was also really particular with the lighting and delayed some photos to take during the reception instead (we were pulled away from everyone for about 30 min to take photos, which we didn’t plan/want to do)… I thought the whole point of the “moon lighting” system they have is that lighting should not matter, rain or shine. Several instances, we were in shaded area where some sunlight was peeking through the trees and he did not want to take photos in that location. It was a sunny day and around 4-5:30pm so it was difficult to find a shaded area while the sun’s preparing to set. To me, that wasted a lot of time hence why we were pulled out of the reception for more photos. He did do an amazing job with the photos he did take and was extremely attentive to detail. He even ripped his pants and kept photographing like it never happened! Looking back and knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t hire a studio to do our wedding photos. At the time we booked Mike Moon Studio it seemed like a great idea, however, going through the experience of multiple people handling different tasks, the experience felt impersonal. I had to reach out to the editor, Todd, for multiple revisions for simple things that a studio/photographer should know to not include. For example, there were several photos in the final collection with some of my family & bridal party’s eyes closed as they’re walking down the aisle or for a group photo. Shouldn’t there be more photos to choose from since the photographer is clicking away on the day of? Another example: we took a group shot of us with the groomsmen and bridesmaids…from afar, it looks as if we are kissing but when zoomed in, our lips aren’t yet touching. This photo was the only copy in the collection, so I had to reach out to Todd once again for a group photo where we are actually kissing. I know the studio promises to have your photos within 2 weeks after the wedding, however, when you sacrifice the quality for the speed, it turns out sloppy and we got the impression that not much time was spent on our collection. For the most part the photos turned out great, but I wasn’t pleased with the service and feel like we could’ve gotten more for the amount of money being spent.
