Even though I started shopping for my dress super late, they were able to get one in on time for my wedding. I also want to mention, for those of you who are looking for someplace like this - everyone we talked to at Mimi's was LGBT friendly and no one batted an eye when my soon-to-be wife and I walked in both looking for dresses there. They don't have any lesbian wedding photos on their website, which made me a little nervous going in, but don't worry! They are totally cool and we didn't run into any trouble.

I wanted a dress shopping experience (and dress) that felt more personal than a Big Box Store like David's Bridal, but I didn't want to spend my whole wedding budget on one dress. Mimi's is in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. The interior feels cozy and intimate, and the staff make it feel very personal. You really have your consultant's full, undivided attention during your appointment. The dressing rooms had a lot of privacy and I felt like I could show off dresses to my family and get their opinion without having to worry about random opinions from strangers or drama from brides in the other dressing rooms. It felt like we had the store to ourselves (even though it was bustling with other brides.) My appointment was with Najla who was incredibly helpful. She was knowledgable and professional and able to give some constructive advice about what styles would look good on me, but she wasn't too pushy. Mimi's had a lot of variety of dresses and Najla encouraged me to try on a lot of different styles and helped me narrow down dresses I liked best. Eventually, I found "the one" -- the dress that really felt like me. It was such a beautiful dress -- elegant, but just a little playful. Najla suggested a long veil to go with it, and it was the perfect touch to complete the look (also really fun for the photographer!). I got so many compliments on it on my wedding day. Mimi's sized me correctly and the dress arrived well in advance of the big day-- it fit me perfectly with almost no alternations (I had the straps taken in slightly and a bustle added.) The dress was extremely high quality, and looked a lot more expensive than it actually was. I had thought dress shopping would be a big ordeal, possibly having to go to many stores and spend multiple weekends trying to find "the dress." It turns out we were done by lunchtime, and I spent the rest of the afternoon with my family eating at Zingerman's and window shopping in downtown Ann Arbor. I am a very satisfied bride. ction of quality gowns with a nice range of price options, much better than another ann arbor wedding gown boutique I had called--I won't mention any names here but I was basically told not to waste my time or theirs as they didn't have dresses in my budget range. I have also been to David's bridal several times for friend's weddings and wasn't thrilled with the selection or experience. At Mimi's I found 2-3 dresses I loved right off but wanted to be sure, so we continued to pull and try on multiple dresses and then narrowed them down by trying on my top 3 choices again at the end. They were very patient with me throughout the process and not at all pushy. All of the staff I have worked with and spoken to have been so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! They are also genuine and personable, a joy to work with, which I have found to be rare in Ann Arbor in general. They made the process effortless and worked with my timeline, this was a huge deal as I ended up moving last minute, prior to having it altered. I bought a sample dress as the designer line of my dress was not being sold there anymore, so it had to be taken in quite a bit. They worked on alterations until I was completely happy with it and it only took 2 alterations to get it to that point-- because they listen and know what they are doing! The dress fits perfectly, I feel so confident in it and I cannot wait to wear it on my wedding day! I have already recommended them to a friend and she ended up getting her dress here too! It looked amazing and she loved it! I cannot say enough good things about Mimi's. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience and a stunningly beautiful gown!

fell in love with the dress- it was GORGEOUS!!! The person helping me said they would measure me at the front and that the dress would be fitted to my exact measurements taken and that I wouldn’t have to do any alterations or very little because they are using my exact measurements to make the dress. I was excited to have the dress tailored to me because I was already going a little over budget to get my dream dress. Also, the lady helping me said the veil I picked out could have a second layer added so I could have it go over my face and that she would tell them at checkout to order it that way. We also discussed having my belt not sew onto the dress so I could wear the belt again after the wedding. When I went to go pick up the dress when it came in - that’s when the nightmare started. When I tried the dress on the person helping me said I should loose 10 pounds and the dress would fit better. (Mind you when I went into the shop to order the dress I was pretty recently recovering from a stroke and was a little heavier then because I couldn’t walk. When I went to try the dress on after the dress was made I had lost 8 -10 pounds). So I had this lady telling me I was fat and needed to loose weight and if I gained even one pound I would ruin the dress. She constantly kept putting me down in front of everyone I brought with me. My friends and family stood up for me and the lady kept telling them I needed to loose weight for the dress to look better. I also got my veil that day and it did not have the second layer to go over my face. And my belt did not have anything to attach around my waist- they told me that was done in alterations. I went home crying. I then called back to talk about my concerns and they told me to come back into the shop to see if they could work things out. Again, they put me with the same lady - who never once apologized. She told me that she had other brides wearing the same dress and they gave up breathing and sitting in the dress to look good in it and I should be like them. She again told me I can’t gain even one pound. Then they told me I should have been told about alterations being so much extra(but didn’t say it was their fault - they said every bride is told this but I was not), they never showed me the size chart and let me pick the size I wanted (they chose the smaller size hoping I would fit into it), and even the owner never apologized. They gave me a blusher which was nice but would have been nice if I received the correct veil instead of having two pieces to put into my hair. Now I’m left insulted and hurting. I have to pay way more to have my dress let out and my chests area made smaller, I have to deal with the belt situation also. The employees and owner here always made excuses to me and made it my problem(never theirs). They never once apologized or acknowledged my concerns. I left feeling hopeless and sad about my wedding dress not even wanting to try it on anymore.

ank goodness I went. I am thrilled with my final decision and eternally grateful to Salwa, my consultant, who was exactly what I needed – patient, knowledgeable, attentive but not pushy, and genuine. I was caught off-guard when I tried on *the* dress – one that I didn’t even want to try on just seeing it on the hanger (thank you, Salwa!). I didn’t want to take it off, but I was still conflicted about the dress I thought was the front-runner. Salwa told my mom and I to leave, get some dinner and a glass of wine, and sleep on it. I had dreams of that dress, went back the next day to try it on again and knew immediately! Salwa knew all along. :) The service at Mimi’s doesn’t stop there – not only was I immensely satisfied with the shopping experience, Mimi’s alterations are impeccable. So many bridal shops will sell you a gown and send you on your way with a list of preferred tailors, which can be risky. Mimi’s entire staff, however, spent the time to make sure my dress fit me absolutely perfectly. Their attention to detail, patience and perfectionism was so appreciated – they even altered my mom’s dress and one of my bridesmaid’s dresses. I recommend the shop to anyone who will listen, and while (sadly) I don’t think I’ll need another wedding dress, if I’m ever in the market for an occasion dress or expert tailoring I will absolutely return to Mimi’s.

show, my main alterations required when ordering the dress (I'm only 5' 1" so mostly shortening the dress by like a foot) were free! My only suggestion would be during the fittings process, I felt that the staff was somewhat unbending when it came to how many times I was required to come in for fittings (which required flights for me, since I moved several states away). I understand that they want to make sure you walk out with a dress that is perfect, but it did require more money and travel than I was originally anticipating. All around, I highly recommend Mimi's and had a great experience and LOVED my dress!!

go there. They truly know what they're doing! My dress had SO much beading and a beautiful scallop detail along the bottom that I thought would for sure get chopped off. They worked MAGIC. My dress was the perfect length and looked like it was never even touched. They also took in the bust so it would lay flat against me since it was strapless. They were so sweet the entire time, showed my mom how to lace up the corset back, took videos of doing the bustle, etc. They were incredible. I've heard they are more expensive than other places but haven't gone elsewhere to know if it's true. Even if it is, they are 100% worth it. A little extra in alterations is worth having your beautiful dress remain that way!

When I put my wedding dress on the day of the my wedding it was perfect and I couldn't of been more happy with the final result. The staff was fabulous to work with and they made me feel so at ease that it would be perfect and they delivered! I would recommend Mimi's to any bride who is looking for their dream dress. Not only did I find my dream dress with them but they helped me with my bridesmaid dress and mother of the bride dress. All in all my experience with Mimi's was the best and I can't thank them enough!

I remembered hearing Mimi's name pop up in conversation and reluctantly dialed their number expecting to hear the same bad news I had heard before. Salwa (my Bridal specialist) answered the phone and made me feel completely at ease after explaining my situation and the look I was going for. She went out of her way to see if they had the style I was looking for in my budget (around $2000) and started pulling dresses for me before I even arrived! I immediately went in for a dress showing and was blown away at the amount of dresses they had fitting my very specific description (mine was low back, boho beachy style that apparently is a lot more difficult to find than I thought). She spent a lot of time with me, gave me her honest opinion, and I was able to find "the one" that day. They even took the time to contact the designer to see if I would receive the dress in time without a rush fee. It was honestly such a pleasant experience I wish I could do it all over again. I highly recommend Mimi's and more specifically, Salwa, to be a part of journey of being a bride!

s I went to. (Salwa, or Selma, can't exactly remember her name) She let me try on a lot of dresses, I didn't feel rushed. She knew exactly what to show me from what I told her I liked. The next day I came back because I was torn between 2 dresses & they welcomed me right in & let me try the dresses on again. I ultimately made the decision the next day & couldn't be happier.

I ended up buying the dress they had suggested that day, it was perfect! I was nervous about shopping alone as all my family is back on the east coast, but the women face timed my mom in so she could see everything and we could talk. It was absolutely incredible and i couldn't recommend them highly enough!

y bride would agree that pictures of all the dresses she has tried on help her tremendously! That was my first turn off, but I brushed it off. Secondly, the rep. with the maker of the dress was not overly nice. Thirdly, the woman helping me insisted on being in the room with me the WHOLE time while I undressed/dressed assuring me that she "wouldn't look" and questioned why I had an "older lady" with me that was not my mother. Rude? Yes! Also tried pressuring me to buy the dress THAT same day in order to receive a 10% discount claiming that once the rep. was gone, no discount would be possible. This made me even more anxious because I really liked the dress but it was $2,800.00 so I felt that I needed to buy it THAT day to save some cash. Long story short, I returned later that day and told the same woman that this was NOT going to work out, and took my business elsewhere. They also try selling you items you don't need or want... in my case, it was an unnecessary bustier and a veil which was nothing like I wanted.

She was pretty straight forward, which I can see how some people might perceive as rude or intimidating, but I didn't really see it that way. The boutique has a good selection of dresses - but they're all pretty nice, unlike other stores where it feels like you really have to hunt for something you like. I was happy that they seemed to respect my budget and didn't show me anything drastically outside my price range. I was an out of state bride and they were super helpful - they called my bridesmaids to help them order the correct size and to remind them to pick up their dresses, rather than me having to chase them. Alterations seemed expensive but were top notch. Fittings were a little tough to schedule - they don't do them on weekends, which was the only drawback for me.

TIMES my budget, which I told her, and only showed half of the salon because the other half "wasn't high end designers" so apparently I should not have looked at them. As soon as the 1 hour mark hit, she was very pushy about my making a decision, to the point of holding dresses against my body and saying "which one do you like? you must make a decision, you HAVE to decide." At which point I told her that it was my first time ever trying on dresses and I wasn't ready to make a decision. As soon as she got me out of the dress I had on, she left the room and I didn't see her again. My family and I left without even a goodbye or have a nice day. She just disappeared when she realized I wasn't buying a dress that day. AVOID THE FRUSTRATION AND DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Further, she wanted me to order the dress I wanted on the spot, and didn't like the idea I that I wanted a day to think about it and talk it over with my fiance. I am not an impulse buyer so I was a little put-off by the appointment. While I decided to order my dress from another store with friendlier staff, Mimi's has a wider variety of gowns than some other stores which is a plus.

To me this store felt the most bridal to me. It didn't feel commercialized. The dresses were beautiful and amazing quality. The ladies there made me feel like I was the only bride to ever exist. The energy in there was fun and light hearted. They let me come see and try on my dress whenever I wanted (4 times) because I had many different people to show.
