This was the perfect place to get married. We got our dream wedding on the beach, and just steps away from our venue. We dealt with Nancy and she gave us so many leads on vendors needed. The venue was beautiful. We also got an outside patio that overlooks mission bay. The price was very reasonable considering it's literally steps from the bay. The chairs, tables, indoor lighting, and a variety of arches were all included. Nancy also allowed us to come to the venue several times to measure the tables and scope out the place prior to the wedding. We were also able to practice our mashup dance prior to the wedding. Nancy made it so easy for us and we couldn't have asked for the most perfect place to get married.
uch a generous club of women! We had an excellent experience and it was beautiful . HIGHLY RECOMMEND
This was the worst experience ever! Our wedding is in October. This place has been shut down since March obviously because of COVID. The thing is not one person not a soul gave us a call to let us know anything but they emailed us to get our payment for our wedding but didn’t care to let us know that they were closed!?!?!? So we paid thinking everything was fine come to find out two and a half months before the wedding the lady that helped us is no longer there and the owner of the place just took our money and wasn’t going to let us know that we weren’t going to be able to have our wedding. I’m just beyond livid with this place!! We called multiple times as well the whole family not one phone call was received back from Nancy geller the head chair person!!!! What a fraud and scam!!!!!
MBWC saved us when our original venue canceled our plans. We were only a month away from the wedding, but MBWC made everything incredibly easy and stress-free. Their price is very affordable for the San Diego area and the venue is adorable. The day of the wedding went smoothly with the help of the on-site manager. We didn't even need to decorate with more than a few plants on the tables for it to look festive. The cottage is already so cute as is and the beach next door was perfect for our ceremony. And all our guests loved it too!
We loved the venue and location for our wedding! Nancy was wonderful to work with! Highly recommend this venue.
Absolutely loved this venue!
We had been down at Crown Point for bike rides and running, and had observed several different events taking place. When we got engaged we contacted Nancy to schedule a consultation and tour. We knew that was the place! From beginning to end, everything went so smoothly, and the prices are reasonable. Beautiful venue and right on the bay!
Let me start out with saying the Mission Beach Women's club is an adorable venue for a smaller wedding. It has a lot of it's own charm and we felt it didn't need too much decorating because it would take away from the natural charm the venue has. Nancy was very helpful and easy to get ahold of when booking. We were lucky in that we had a good crew of people to help with our set up and take down for the reception but were disappointed when told at precisely 9pm to get things cleaned up, turn the music off and clear out. With the amount of people that helped us clean up and return the reception area into it's original format it only took about 15 minutes and we were done and cleaned up WELL before 10pm our cut off time but Nancy seemed very irritated and impatient, even though take down and restore was very quick to take place. I feel that this would have been less disappointing if things hadn't been running so far behind and we would have liked a little more empathy with how late things actually happened, we didn't get to the reception area until after 6 which left 3hrs for dinner, toasts, special dances and cake cutting. We fully understand that there are noise ordinances and she has rules to obey or she gets fined but it only takes 30 seconds to turn music off....
The wedding was beautiful and the clubhouse is a very cute hidden spot and the prices are reasonable. It's a very cute place for a smaller wedding but we don't know if we would book again given the opportunity.
I absolutely loved how my wedding turned out!
We had the ceremony out in the patio area and it turned out perfect. Tables and chairs were provided and we were able to show up early to set everything up.
Venue rental is cheaper than any other beach location in San Diego.
We were looking for a beachy, shabby chic type of venue to host our San Diego wedding. Very important for us because most of our family was coming in from the midwest and we really wanted them to get that beachy vibe. Mission: Accomplished. From the moment we step foot in there, we just knew THIS WAS IT. Nancy was so easy to work with and gives you a huge packet of helpful information to get you started with the rest of the planning! We got so many compliments on the venue and we are so happy we got to spend a beautiful San Diego day surrounded by family and friends at the MBWC!
We picked the MBWC for our wedding venue site unseen. Risky? Perhaps. But we were planning our wedding from out of town and knew we wanted to be near the water but on a budget. Choosing the MBWC offered us a very cost effective venue in a beautiful setting. With a park area overlooking Mission Bay right next to their building, it made for one stop shopping, so our guests could just move from the ceremony straight to the reception. Not only does MBWC come with the bonus patio area (which would be big enough to hold a small ceremony if you didn't want to do the extra work to secure the park area), but there are tables and chairs included in the rental and you can use whichever vendors you prefer. This allowed us to put together our dream wedding, even with a tight budget. Nancy, our contact there, was super sweet and easy to work with. She had helpful tips and when we did get a chance to tour the space, she filled us in on some of the history and activity of the Women's Club. The cottage itself has a relaxed, San Diego vibe to it and had the "beach chic" charm we were looking for. It is not a huge space, but I think you could comfortably do an event with as many as 80 or 90 guests there without an issue. It was the perfect venue for us!
Mission Beach Women's Club was the perfect place for our wedding. I was able to have the beach wedding I have always dreamed of! We set the ceremony up out in the sand and then held our cocktail hour on the patio with dinner reception and dancing inside. There was plenty of room for everyone and with the freedom to decorate the space as I wanted all of my visions were able to come true. Nancy (venue manager) is great and very accommodating. I highly recommend this place to anyone and those who are on a tight budget, this is probably the most affordable option for a beach wedding in the area. Another bonus feature besides the neat history of this venue is it is non-profit and the rental fee goes directly back into the community!
The Mission Beach Women's Club was the perfect place to have our wedding! In addition to the extremely affordable prices, they include all the tables and chairs you'll need, which also saves a bunch. Plus, you can bring in your own catering and alcohol, which were musts for my husband and I. Its right across the boardwalk from the water, and is really pretty. A perfect San Diego venue! The only downside is that because its Mission Beach, parking can be really atrocious, especially in the summer, so you might want to make some sort of transport solution for your guests. Otherwise, this place is perfect.
The Mission Beach Women's Club is a great venue for a wedding! It is very affordable and it allows you to be in control of the decorations and caterer so you can save money or insure that you choose the caterer you really want. We had our ceremony in the grass area right in front of the venue and it was perfect! There is plenty of parking and plenty of room for a wedding with less than 120 people. I would definitely recommend this venue!
This is a cute cottage on the beach...very affordable and money goes to non-profit donation in the city...i loved my wedding here
We had 70 people at our wedding reception and Mission Beach Women's Club (MBWC) was the perfect size. The whole inside is a dance floor and the patio is huge with great views of the bay. It is absolutely beautiful (yet simple) both inside and out, and with the bay on one side and the ocean on the other, the absolute best location. Nancy is super easy to work with and very accmomodating. The caterer loved the huge kitchen and convenience of the separate entrance/exit. I definitely recommend having everyone enter through the patio and have the happy hour with bar and appetizers all on the patio. Then have the buffet line on the far west wall near the kitchen. It all made for a very smooth reception with no lines or jams or confusion. Keep in mind - guests must be out by 10pm and everything must be cleaned and gone by 11pm. Can't wait to do more events here... family reunions, baby showers, Christmas parties, etc. OH, and it is SUPER affordable! I could not believe the deal we got! (and I researched over a dozen venues in the area.) Plus, the patio furniture, and inside tables and chairs are all provided and very nice quality. Thank you MBWC!
The Mission Beach Woman's club was a fabulous venue. We had our ceremony just outside the venue on the bay. Cocktail hour was held right on the outside patio. The inside doesn't need much decorating, its white pillars and hardwood floors made it a very quaint and beautiful setting. There is a huge kitchen for the caterers to prepare--we did buffet style. It is perfect for smaller weddings, we had 110 people there for the reception and max capacity is 120.
Beautiful location. This place can be dressed up for a fancy affair and it is perfect for something casual. They provide tables and very nice wooden chairs. I was allowed to stop by with minimal notice to show my other vendors the place, which was very convenient.
If you're looking for an intimate location for your event and are a DIY kind of person, this is the place to go! They provide the location, tables and chairs, belly bars, and sound system. Everything else must be provided by the renters. We had our wedding there on 7/20/12 and it was absolutely perfect! We couldn't have asked for anything more. Even though you are supposed to provide for someone to clean up your event, Nancy still comes out to help along the way! Nancy is also extremely helpful in answering all your questions. Want an extra bonus at the end of the night? If you have your event during Sea World's fireworks season, you get a free fireworks show too!!!
If you are having a smaller wedding (120 or less), this is the place to do it! Nancy was amazing to work with. She helped out cleaning up and was around the whole day for vendors coming to the venue. Loved the cottage feel with a nice patio with a view of the bay! Loved it!! so happy I found it.
We used the Woman's Club which is a great venue. Love the shutters, decor, floor, columns and ceiling. Great place and Nancy was a great help! Definitely recommend this venue, especially if you are trying to keep costs down.
The second we walked into the Mission Beach Woman's Club, we fell in love. It is just adorable, charming, and in a beautiful setting! It was perfect for our semi-casual but somewhat formal fall reception. It is small, so best for events 100 or less. It has a great outdoor patio with twinkle lights, hardwood floors inside, lots of windows and open to the outdoors with french doors everywhere. The ceremony can be held on the grass just outside the venue. You'll need to get a park permit for the ceremony, but it's not hard or expensive. They will help you. We had a live band too, and the venue could more then accommodate it! We put the food, bar, and coffee bar on the patio. The venue is the most inexpensive place in town for an event! I searched everywhere, and you will not find anything this nice for this cost! It also comes with tables and chairs, which is nice. The manager of the venue is great, and she is so easy to work with and very accommodating. She has great tips too! They have a Facebook page and you can see lots of pictures of the various events they have had there. I would not hesitate to have another party here!
