Kala at MOD is sooooo amazing!!! I could email/text her whenever and she was so quick to respond. She was helpful in keeping everything organized and handled all of the coordination with the vendors, which is a HUGE help. She also had great ideas for things that we did not think about. She's also so personable and felt like a friend at the end. The most important part to me was how helpful she was the day of the wedding. I did not want to have to worry about anything or be handling answering questions the day of & thankfully for Kala, I didn't have to do any of this. She made my wedding day such a breeze so that I could just be present in the moment and not have any worries and I'm forever grateful for that! I could not recommend MOD Events enough!!! They have the best price points for services and were so incredibly helpful the entire process.

My husband and I had the pleasure working with Kara. From day one, she made it so easy and as stress-free as possible. We worked with her shortly after we got engaged, for about a year and a half until our wedding. We had check ins regularly, and she was always on top of it all, and made sure that we were as well. On our wedding day, Kara did everything in her power to make it the best day possible for us. I will recommend MOD events a million times over, they did an INCREDIBLE job.

MOD planning may have been the best choice we made! The whole team was truly amazing! We ended up with Kala as our planner and were just taken care of from the very beginning, she asks the questions that you didn't know mattered and helped guide us through the endless options and add ons to find the things that we really wanted. We met with Kala on several occasions to pick out the details, food, etc. and it always felt like we were meeting up with a friend. On the day of the wedding Kala and Shawna made the day completely seamless, bringing drinks and food for us and making sure we had time to enjoy all of our friends and family that came to celebrate! We truly did not worry about a thing. Above all their professionalism and organization made it an effortless celebration for us so that we could truly enjoy the day. I would recommend MOD to any couple, contact them before making too many decisions as Kala knows where to get everyone and everything you may need!

I honestly don’t think there are enough words to describe how wonderful Kara and Hannah were on my wedding day and throughout planning! They totally got my vision and let me run with it. On the day they were beyond amazing. Every little detail was exactly how I envisioned it, and when we got a little rain during the ceremony and start of cocktail hour they made sure we were okay, kept calm and completely pivoted seamlessly when we moved locations for cocktail hour to keep everyone dry. They made sure the bride and groom always had a drink in hand and were always checking on us to make sure we were okay. Highly recommend working with Kara to anyone wanting to have a great, non-stressful fun wedding day! I wish I could get married again to work with them all over!

Kara was beyond an amazing event planner! As MOG I only met her once prior to the wedding. The entire event she planned was seamless, from rehearsal and beyond! She was professional and personable, embraced us like we were her family. Never once did anyone even need to wonder where they were supposed to be, she would find us amongst the guests and give us the cue of the next happening at what location within the grounds of the William Aiken House in downtown Charleston, SC. Her recommendations were spot on across the board! Kara was key to the most memorable event of a lifetime!!

I was the groom at a wedding Hannah and her team planned, the whole process from our first conversation to literally getting back to the room after the reception was planned and seamless. The day of the ceremony I could actually enjoy the ceremony and reception without worrying about the schedule, having time to eat, or even get my own drinks. They had our requested drinks and a big plate of food ready for me and my bride immediately after the ceremony, kept track of my phone, wallet and sunglasses, got refills for my bride and I before I realized I was almost out, and even planned getting the gifts and pictures back to the hotel for us. Hannah and her team not only took out all of the stress from our wedding day, but made it more enjoyable because of their care, attention to detail, and dedication to us having the perfect experience.

Kara Hicks and MOD Events made all of my dreams come true. I don't even think my dreams dreamed what our wedding became at the William Aiken House. Kara was such an incredible resource and confidant. She was always straightforward and kind, and oh my goodness is she on top of it. Every piece of our wedding was delicately orchestrated. As a couple who had a destination wedding in Charleston (live in Texas), Kara's vast resources in Charleston made our lives so easy. She saved us an enormous amount of time. Instead of us having to feverishly search the internet and look up vendors we liked, reach out, and then just hope they are available on our wedding date - Kara did at all for us. We received a list of 3-4 vendors of photographers, florals, hair/makeup, entertainment, and cake providers, who were already available on our date along with pricing. All we had to do was pick from the list. It was an absolute breeze. On our wedding day, Kara and Hannah with MOD Events coordinated every vendors arrival, their set up, and timing of when our family and friends needed to arrive who were in the wedding. We didn't have to worry about a thing. We just got to enjoy every moment with the people we love the most. It was beautiful. I will tell you, I went into planning our wedding assuming this would be a stressful and overwhelming process, because that's all I had heard and seen from my friends. We had a short window to get married too with our work schedules (whole thing was planned in under 9 months). Hiring Kara and MOD Events was the greatest decision we made. I couldn't have had a more opposite experience from what my expectations were leading into it, and that is all because of Kara. I am so beyond thankful. Hire her! You won't regret it!

Kala with Mod Events was everything I dreamed and could have hoped for. Her attention to details, ease with making a stressful year & day stress free, & personality make the planning process so much fun to complete! Mod Events various packages allowed me to pick the one that best fit my needs & budget + her packages are very budget friendly & well worth the investment. She also offers florist services which allowed me to utilize her as my florist as well - and her flower arrangements were stunning!! Her vendor relations & recommendations allowed me to pick the best vendors & find vendors I may not have found on my own. Those relationships she had guaranteed I had the best vendor team for my day under my belt. I am so sad my wedding is over, but I know I have a friend with Kala for a lifetime - she was more than just my wedding planner. I cannot recommend Mod Events enough, my experience would to have been as easy or the same without them - check them out!

I do not know where to begin! TEN STARS truly wouldn’t be enough for Kala and her Team at MOD events! From the moment we met Kala, we knew she was meant to be our planner. I am a project manager for a living and was upfront when meeting Kala to say I need timelines, will require a lot of reassurance, have a lot of questions, struggle to delegate tasks, and am an organized freak myself - and basically asked her… can you handle me? Lol. She said yes and my goodness… did she handle ME and our wedding like an absolute ANGEL! Kala was extremely knowledge and professional from day 1. I knew if I had a question or an idea, I could shoot her a quick message or schedule a call and she would give me all the answers and peace of mind I needed. The planning process was a dream with Kala because she really does hold your hand through the process, and I personally really appreciated and needed that (especially planning our wedding in Charleston from another state). Fast forward to wedding weekend - everything went so smoothly. Couldn’t have gone better - magical and perfect to say the least. 1. I’ve never seen a rehearsal executed more efficiently 2. I didn’t have to worry about a single thing on wedding day - like 0 concerns (and if you know me that’s not normal) even with it raining on my wedding day, Kala handled it all and never once made me stress or worry 3. When I walked into my reception, it was exactly as I envisioned it, Kala and her team NAILED it - everything was perfect. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Having a planner to shares your vision as you go through the meet ups, walk throughs etc is KEY. Kala and her team were by far our best investment as a vendor choice - I can not say enough good things or recommend them enough to anyone getting married in Charleston. FIVE STARTS AREN'T ENOUGH My goodness - where do I even begin? From my first phone call with MOD events I knew they were going to be our planners and my right hand woman. Kara is literally an angel on earth. She worked through everything with me with such patience - all my worries/concerns/questions/needing things explained again. Our wedding day was beyond fantastic and more than we ever dreamed. We feel so blessed, we truly hit the vendor jackpot, but we owe it all to Kara!!! When the first round of photographers weren’t really grasping my vibe, Kara went out and found the most AMAZING video and photo team who nailed our vision and then some!! When I was overwhelmed she explained everything over and over. When we had to ship things to Charleston she received it all with open arms and treated us like we were her only wedding this month meanwhile she had countless other events she was simultaneously planning for. 48 hours before the rain call when I was crying on the phone she eased my worries and consoled me better than my own sisters could, haha. She was so organized through the planning process and had everything I ever said noted down or engrained in her memory and her and Hannah executed it perfectly the day of. I am a very Type A person, so handing off tasks is difficult for me, but I’d do it over and over again with the MOD events team by my side. I will never be able to thank these ladies enough for the wedding of my dreams!!!

This was especially frustrating as we had experienced such a smooth planning process leading up to the big day. In addition, we've made attempts to communicate with Kala after the wedding to discuss what happened, but unfortunately, we have yet to receive a response. Despite the challenges on the wedding day, the floral arrangements provided by MOD Events were stunning and exactly as we had envisioned. The florals were a highlight of our decor and added a touch of elegance to the entire event. Kala's creativity and attention to detail truly shone through in the floral design. In summary, while the planning process with MOD Events was exceptional, there were challenges on the wedding day that affected the coordination and timeline. However, the beauty of the floral arrangements they provided cannot be overstated. If you choose MOD Events, be sure to communicate clearly about your expectations for wedding day coordination to ensure a smoother experience. Kala's talent and creativity as a florist and planner are undeniable, and with the right coordination, your wedding vision can truly come to life.

We absolutely loved working with Kara and the team at MOD Events! They came highly recommended from our venue and choosing to work with them was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. One of our concerns was that we were planning a destination wedding for our guests and we didn’t live in Charleston so we didn’t know how to find the best vendors other than via google and through wedding websites. Kara was able to work with us to find the best vendors and scheduled time to meet in person to help us pick out our rentals. She also made suggestions on items MOD had in their own inventory we could use that would work with our decor. At no point did Kara ever try to push us to spend more than we were comfortable with and offered great advice on rentals where we could actually save on. Whenever we had a question no matter how small Kara and the team were great at giving us their advice and thoughts. What was truly amazing was how great Kara and her team were the week of the wedding. We felt absolutely no stress and every detail was handled beautifully. Kara and her assistant helped us have the most relaxed day. We can’t say enough about how much they went above and beyond for us on the day of the wedding. She was so easy to work with, offered suggestions when I needed or asked for them, and helped me plan my most perfect day! For Rehearsal and day of, both her and Hannah were there making everything flow seamlessly! Not once did I have to question if I was in good hands, they made the day easy and perfect! I HIGHLY recommend them! They are the best!

Kala and Kara took every bit of stress off of wedding planning. I don’t know how I would have managed without them! They were so on top of everything and focused on the details, making our day absolutely amazing. They worked around my schedule for meetings and when I was able to visit Charleston for picking out the specifics (Charleston was a destination wedding for me). Kala is also amazing with the florals. They do florals in-house and all I had to tell her was my vision and colors and they came out beautiful. The day of, everything ran so smoothly. Kara and Hanna were on top of everything during the reception. During reception, my wedding dress strap broke and what could have been a disaster was solved within five minutes by them. Our wedding was absolutely breathtaking thanks to all their help!!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Kara and Kala with MOD Events. I worked mostly with Kara because she was the point person for my wedding and she made the planning process so easy and fun! She is the sweetest person you will ever work with and she knows her stuff! She is amazing! She did everything before I even thought of us needing to do something for the wedding. Nothing went wrong at the wedding like most people say… something will go wrong. It just seemed so seamless, smooth and lots of fun planning our wedding. It was not stressful at all. I would give MOD events 100 stars if I could and highly recommend them.

Kala and the MOD events team are amazing! Kala has done all of our families weddings, ending with mine, and she was incredible every time! Kala makes sure no detail is missed and goes above and beyond for her clients. Kala is also a master florist and made my minimalists wedding feel luxurious. Special mention, Hanna, Kala's assistant, was incredible! She is so sweet and made sure all our needs were met throughout the whole day. She also ensured me and my husband got some time together on our special day! I cannot recommend them enough! If you care getting married in Charleston, you have to have Kala and her team!

Kara was absolutely amazing. We did the month of package and she just went above and beyond. We also used them for florals and decor and everything was absolutely stunning. On the day we had tornado-level winds and had to make some drastic changes and she made it all run so smoothly none of our guests even knew that we made changes. She also made sure that me, my new husband, and our parents were happy, fed, and had any drinks that we needed all throughout the evening. I would recommend Kara 1000x over. From beginning to end she offered helpful advice and helped us so we didn't have to stress and could just enjoy our special day.

MOD Events as a whole are absolutely amazing! We planned our wedding working with the MOD team partly from South Africa and then from Hilton Head, We mainly worked with Kala leading up to the wedding. She was always super responsive and was always willing to meet up in Charleston for a quick catch up! Both her and Kara worked hard to make sure we were matched up with the perfect vendors and never were swayed even when we changed things a million times. They have amazing ideas and knew exactly what I was looking for! They also did my amazing florals for the wedding day! On the day of, they both went above and beyond what we expected. They are by your side the entire time and are there to make sure that it is your day and it is the best day of your life! I am honestly sad that I won't have be emailing back and forth with Kala every week, but know I walked away with not only the best wedding ever, but also a new bestie!

Go with Kara and Kala! We had a destination wedding at Legare Waring House and worked mainly with Kara. She was absolutely incredible every step of the way. Read this review if you want to know more details, but the TLDR is stop your search and hire MOD Events! Our venue required vendors for absolutely everything. She gave us just the right amount of options so that we wouldn't be too overwhelmed. If we didn't like any option, she listened to feedback and found exactly what we wanted. She took our priorities very seriously and was very flexible with her schedule. She never lost her patience with us when we went back and forth a million times on a decision or took too long to respond. She was always extremely kind. We received discounts with many of the vendors thanks to MOD Events and we were happy were every vendor we had. All of them were professional throughout the whole process. Thanks to Kara, booking the vendors was an easy process and she was there to help and advice at every moment. We had a destination wedding so there were several events going on outside of the wedding. Kara helped us with all of that, recommending spots for the rehearsal dinner, brunch, spas, etc and giving us hotel room blocks which all of our guests used. On the day of the wedding, Kara and Kala set up everything beautifully and perfectly. Everything was done on time and looked absolutely incredible. There were no issues on the wedding day and everything from our point of view was seamless, which means that Kala and Kara did their job perfectly! All of the vendors they provided us with were incredible and professional too. My sister officiated the wedding, but didn't actually have a license and even that was solved by MOD Events since Kala does have a license so she signed our papers! MOD Events also do flowers which is great because it's one less vendor to deal with and at a great price. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous! In general, the ladies have great taste and all of the suggestions were spot on. The most important thing is that you can trust Kara and that she communicates very well. We had a long engagement and at first, the response was a little slower. As the wedding got closer, Kara's response rate was super quick and she was always available for any question we had. She made sure communicate every detail with us, especially around pricing and we had no issues with the budget we had decided on at the start. Thank you MOD Events for helping us plan the best day of our lives! It would not have been the same without you. You can trust Kara and Kala will give you the best day of your lives and will facilitate the process of planning it!!

A year and a half ago, I set out on my search for a wedding planner. I had phone call "interviews" with multiple planners, but I had an immediate connection with Kala. Kala is super relatable and down-to-earth. She was so helpful in keeping me on track and anytime I would start to get nervous about planning, I would have a conversation with Kala and immediately feel at peace again. She was super available for me when needed and a realist when it came down to "is this worth the cost" conversations. Not only did I love her, but my groom did too! I also had the pleasure of working with Kara and Hannah throughout the process and they were equally amazing. Seriously the dream team! They all have a calming presence and made me feel as though nothing could go wrong. Hannah was especially amazing on the day of our wedding, making sure we had cocktails and appetizers while we finished our couple photos. I never felt out of the loop at any point in the day. MOD also handled our florals, which felt super helpful and they were stunning. This team might be the eighth world wonder! I really cannot sing their praises enough. Kala with MOD events was phenomenal! She was always available to meet at any time throughout the whole year and walked me through everything. The day of she took care of every little detail making sure we had the best time. She even took our dog out just so we wouldn’t have to at the end of the night. Her whole team was there for me at every step of the way. They also do florals, which were absolutely stunning! I am going to miss working with her but highly recommend to anyone looking for a wedding planner!

Kala, Kara & Hannah of MOD Events Charleston were beyond phenomenal! From assisting with quotes and planning to exceptional service day of the wedding, this team exceeded all of our expectations. We received so many compliments of Kara and Hannah during our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception of how attentive and efficient they were. As the bride and groom, we never lacked anything - our food was waiting for us, cocktails were always replaced, decor was packed and delivered to our room, our honeymoon suite was cleaned up during our reception from getting ready festivities, and leftovers were waiting in the refrigerator post-wedding. Amazing. Also, a guest left shoes in the bridal suite at the reception space and Kara kindly delivered the shoes back to my house following the wedding. They did things they did not have to do and went above and beyond to make sure we had the most memorable day. Highly recommend!!

Kara helped plan and execute the wedding of our dreams. Everything was so much better than we could have ever imagined. Her recommendations for vendors were spot on! I think the biggest testament to her work was how quickly she came up with a plan B for the impending hurricane with all our other vendors. If you want to have the Charleston wedding of your dreams look no further!

Where do I even begin? I could not have imagined my wedding day without Kala, and Kara too! Kala went above and beyond for me on every detail. She kept me calm and reassured me every time I was worried/stressed about something. When it comes to the day of the wedding, I don’t know how we could’ve done it without her! Even with the rainy day she made it go so smooth and every detail was absolutely perfect. I didn’t have to worry about a SINGLE thing knowing she was taking care of me. I cannot recommend Kala and her team enough. I am forever grateful to have had her as part of my wedding experience.

Let me just start by saying Kala is an incredible person & a dream of a wedding planner! I was the most indecisive bride & she made making decisions for my wedding so much easier. The best part is she’s very much a realist & will let you know whether something a vendor is trying to upsell you on is a waste of money. Our phone conversations (since I was planning my wedding from out of town) felt almost like I was planning my wedding with my best friend so I could easily discuss with her my fears or ideas. Everyone always asks: “What went wrong at your wedding?” & I can honestly say NOTHING! If anything did go wrong, I never knew about it, which is the sign of an amazing wedding planner. Kala also does florals & she’s great with those as well. I keep getting asked who did mine because they were so beautiful. Anyone that’s getting married now I ask where so that I can recommend Kala & her team. So if you’re reading this, this is your sign to book her now! You will never regret it.

Kara and Kala were a pleasure to work with! Kara was very responsive to emails and texts throughout the entire process. She was great about scheduling check in meetings over the course of the year. Everything on our wedding day exceeded our expectations. Kara and Kala’s attention to detail made our day absolutely perfect!
