We had an amazing experience with Catering by Monk’s and cannot recommend them enough. During the planning stages, we worked closely with Sue and Wendy, who were incredibly respons...
ive and helpful throughout the entire planning process—even during the busiest part of their season.
The value for the experience and quality of food you get with Monks is truly unmatched. Nothing beats it. We had guests coming to us weeks later, raving about how delicious the food was. I was initially hesitant about having a BBQ-style wedding, but once we explored their menu, we realized that while they’re very well known for their BBQ, they offer so much more. Every dish was a hit!
They were also extremely attentive to dietary needs and allergies, even providing a vegan meal for one of our guests without any issues. On the wedding day, the staff was so friendly, professional, and attentive. They made sure my husband and I were fed and well taken care of, which we appreciated more than we can even say.
Excellent service, incredible food, and outstanding value—it’s truly the perfect combination. We highly, highly recommend Monks to anyone looking for wedding catering!
The absolute best!! We already knew the food would be amazing after our tasting, and our guests have been talking about it since, but I have to say that the star of the show is the...
staff. Such a kind and helpful group that were willing to do whatever it took to make our wedding day smooth and exactly how we wanted. I could not recommend Monks enough!
We loved Monks so much that it was only fitting that we had them at our wedding. We did a bit of a "his and hers" dinner with all our favorites - brisket and Alabama chicken, mac a...
nd cheese (the best ever) and dirty rice, and the apps! Highly recommend the shrimp and grits app, it was a hit. The whole team on the wedding day was wonderful, checking in with us throughout the night and we had no issues at all. There were a few small miscommunications prior to the wedding day - offering signature drinks was a bit unclear when the bar package does not allow for many types of cocktails, so we had to go buy our own syrup and go simpler on the cocktails than we otherwise would have, and we did not receive our final invoice until a few days before the wedding which added some stress to the wedding week. However, the wedding day staff was wonderful and everyone loved the food so much that it all outweighed the small things leading up and we definitely have no regrets!
I can hardly believe the day has come and gone, but reflecting on it, I am just in awe of the exceptional experience we had with the Monks BBQ team. From start to finish, the suppo...
rt and care they provided leading up to the event was beyond anything I could have imagined. We hit the ground running with Wendy before Sue stepped in to help with the on-going details. They were both so passionate about what they do and it showed that they really care about their couples. We wanted “travel-inspired” appetizers representative of some of our favorite countries and Chef Tracey worked with me personally to get them just right. On the day itself, every team member treated us with such warmth and respect—it truly felt like being surrounded by friends/family. And the food? Unforgettable! They do so much more than BBQ - we ended up serving steak, salmon, mac and cheese, green beans, and smashed potatoes. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about every dish, and I have to give a special shoutout to that gouda mac and cheese! It’s safe to say that Monks played a key role in making our day extraordinary, and we are so grateful. Thank you for everything!
Only have the best things to say about Monk's BBQ! We had to switch caterers last minute and they could not have been more willing & helpful. Wendy helped me plan out everything I ...
needed for the big day, and Dawn & her day-of team were INCREDIBLE. They helped in any way they could from cocktail hour to the reception, and did it all so joyfully. Not to mention the food was just delicious, and people are still talking about it! Could not recommend them more!
We chose Monk’s for our wedding catering team and they were great! Their menu selection had everything we wanted for both our reception meal and our cocktail hour snacks. I loved t...
hat they provided all the glasses and linens and that their team consisted of both food servers and bartenders. I also loved that they provided the mixers, garnishes, and ice for the drinks because it meant one less thing for us to worry about. They were super helpful with every step of the process, especially for us planning a wedding as an out of state couple, and everybody at our wedding loved the food!
Monk's BBQ provided the most delicious food on our wedding day that I could have ever imagined!!!! The service and taste was immaculate and Sue and Wendy were so helpful and respon...
sive throughout the entire wedding planning process. I couldn't have made a better decision for our wedding day than hiring Monk's! I would highly recommend having them cater your event!

ies to be uninspiring and bad, but Monk's food tasted like it came right out of the smoker at their restaurant. The staff was fantastic, and Wendy and Sue were a pleasure to deal with. I HIGHLY recommend Monk's!
Monks was great! The food was excellent and we have had multiple people tell us how delicious it was. They helped change around plans days before the wedding when rain was coming...
, and kept adjusting as the night continued, and went above and beyond with cleaning up. Lucinda and the team were so attentive the entire night, checking in with us to make sure we were good, and even made sure to refill our drinks before the signature drinks were gone.
The team that worked the night of our wedding was a dream team and the food was incredible. Our guests raved about the meal for weeks after the wedding, and for us making sure the ...
food and drinks were great was a huge priority.
Scheduling the tasting was easy and Wendy provided some great vendor recommendations too which was greatly appreciated.
After the tasting there was a communication break down though, hence the 4 rating. There was confusion about if my date had been secured even though the deposit was cashed, we had to clarify our meal choices multiple times, and we did not receive a final invoice until the week of the wedding (causing stress about paying on time and having a final budget before the wedding). The communication breakdown did cause unnecessary stress before our big day.
Monk’s catered our farm wedding and did an incredible job! Sue and Crystal really made everything move smoothly even with some unexpected logistical hiccups. One of the more modera...
tely priced catering options in the area so we loved that since our budget was modest. The food was amazing (especially the custard cornbread and mac n cheese) and we even had guests fighting over who got to take home leftovers! We would definitely hire Monk’s again for catering and always stop by the restaurant when we’re in town. The best!
I was a wedding planner who had a client hire Monks for their wedding catering, and it was a great experience! This crew will bend over backwards to make sure your wedding goes off...
without a hitch. Sue came in on her day off to make sure that all the rentals were correct and even started helping moving tables around. Tracey was the catering lead for the wedding and made sure the day and dinner was perfect. Amazing food and great service!
If you want to get a ton of compliments about your caterer and have your friends raving about the dinner far after your wedding then book Monks. The catering team was fantastic and...
the food itself was delicious! Personally my favorite is the brisket, Mac and cheese and custard filled cornbread.
We used Monks for our wedding catering. I can’t express more how pleasant it was to work with Wendy and her team – even though we had to reschedule 4 times due to COVID, they stuck...
with us and couldn’t have been kinder and more flexible! During our walk through, our event point person Dori asked very insightful questions showing what a pro she was. The food was out of this world and the staff were friendly and fun – even dancing to the music while they worked throughout the night! Incredibly affordable for this area and can’t say enough nice things about this professional and talented staff. They also had some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had!
The team at Monk's catered our wedding at Shadow Creek in Purcellville. Hiring Monk's was one of the best decisions we made, and the team (including Wendy, Sue, and Melissa) was at...
tentive, courteous, and accommodating to our needs, particularly through a 1-year COVID delay! I was happy knowing we made the right choice when countless guests raved to me about the food (which was a buffet including brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and all the sides). We definitely recommend visiting the restaurant first for a tasting so you can see for yourself how much the folks at Monk's care about quality BBQ. My new wife and I will return soon to enjoy one of Purcellville's gems!
Monk’s food was amazing. It was so much fun to have some delicious local BBQ at our rehearsal dinner for our family and close friends. The staff was attentive and very responsive t...
o a couple unique requests the day of like a couple extra plates for late guests as they were packing up the food. They were also very competitive on price, which allowed us to tack on several additional things to make the event even more complete. The only con was that they were difficult to reach for several months leading up to the rehearsal dinner. It sounds like that was largely due to the pandemic and an illness on their staff team, but worth noting that it was tough to iron out details and get confirmation on contracts/payment.
We got married on September 4 in a backyard ceremony, and could not have been more thrilled to have had Monks cater our event and coordinate our rentals. Wendy and Sue were stellar...
to work with every step of the way, and didn't blink an eye at any of the (many, many changes) we had to make in light of COVID, from changing our date to scaling down our guest list to adjusting our menu to avoid cross-contamination. Staff were professional and wore masks the entire time, and the food was FANTASTIC. Highly recommend Monks to anyone planning a wedding or event!

e sure our day was special. The food was so delicious that our picky families were raving about it. We had brisket, pulled pork, and quarter chicken for mains with the Gouda mac and cheese, salad, baked beans and corn bread. For appetizers we got a beautiful cheese and fruit platter, chicken wings (so good) and cracklins. We literally can't stop thinking about the food. The dinner service was great - so professional and pleasant.
Do yourself a favor and have Monks BBQ cater your wedding! Good prices and amazing food.
They are amazing! Wendy gives you so much time to make your menu just right and head counts. Her staff is so friendly and go with the flow. Best part, we had our wedding on our pro...
perty. They brought the left overs in and packed it safely into our fridge. AND help clean up our area! They put the linens together and champagne glasses in a safe spot. Food was delicious 🤤 everyone still talking about it. 100% recommend them!
The food was so good! All our guests also loved the food. We had Dory as our lead and she did a great job! She even sewed a few dresses back together for us. Highly recommend.
