We used Mount Sequoyah Center for our wedding. Coming from the event industry this venue has been underrated as an option for brides in NWA (in my opinion). Aside from the natural beauty and vistas, logistically and financially it is a great place to host a wedding. The price was very reasonable for what was included in the contract. I will start by saying if you want a fancy, polished, higher end wedding, this may not be the place for you simply because it was not designed to cater to that level. If you’re looking for a casual, relaxed, outdoorsy feel, this is a wonderful place.
We worked directly with Denni Palmer who was a huge help throughout the entire process. The first time we visited the venue, she gave us a full tour with my in-laws and explained all the amenities clearly. She was readily available for any questions and she was more than willing to work with our specific needs. She clearly cared about us as clients and it was a pleasure working with her. The onsite staff during our wedding weekend prepared everything as we had specified and they were helpful and friendly to our friends and family during their weekend stay.
We were fortunate to be able to rent it on a Saturday in October (not a Razorback home game day). We were given access to the venue the day before to begin set up (this is not common for many venues) and we had access until Saturday at midnight. We did the ceremony and reception package (there is an option to do just one or the other). We were able to do a room block of the cabins on site for family and friends to rent. I was given a full 3-bedroom cabin close to the outdoor chapel to stay in Friday night and get ready in on Saturday. The groom was given a cabin the day of the wedding as well. Because we had access to the venue the Friday before, they let us host our rehearsal dinner on site. There is an indoor chapel option in case of inclement weather and it was reserved with our contract. We also had the option to buy breakfast for our guests at the dining hall on site. We did this the Sunday morning after the wedding before everyone left.
The outdoor chapel is beautiful and we didn’t add decoration to enhance it. I will say that the room we used for our reception is utilitarian because it was originally designed for conferences. However, with some creativity, it can be transformed easily into a reception hall. It is a very functional building with backdoor access to a driveway for vendors. It also has two projectors, a speaker system and microphones that are all included.
We received a lot of positive feedback from our guests about this venue. We had several guests who stayed at least two nights, some four, and they all enjoyed themselves. It was extremely helpful to be able to do everything in one location. It was everything we needed in a venue and we would highly recommend it as a wedding location.
Mt. Sequoyah offered a beautiful venue for one of the most affordable prices in the NWA area. We used the outdoor chapel (Vesper Point) and it comfortably sat around 230 people. The staff were extremely helpful in communication and especially with setting up the audio.
The venue was beautiful, and the employees are so helpful! The center allowed for the accommodations, ceremony, and reception all in the same place for a very reasonable cost. I loved it!
The outdoor chapel here is really lovely, especially in late spring. It was wonderful to have an outdoor ceremony without having to set up chairs. We did have to bring in a platform, as the platform they have is a bit far from the guest seating. Someone came early to set up the sound system for us, which was helpful. The biggest issue we had was organizing for guest housing ahead of time. There is lodging available on the campus for guests, but though we had a block of rooms set aside for the weekend, they really wanted us to have those rooms officially reserved earlier than most of my guests made reservations. Several of the guests commented that the reservation system seemed a bit disorganized. That said, the staff was very friendly and helpful. You can rent golf carts relatively cheaply, which was helpful on the wedding day. Overall, it's a really nice place to have the wedding. They were even willing to give a discount when we asked.
Vesper Point offers a beautiful outdoor wedding venue for a very affordable price. Due to the natural beauty, I didn't have to decorate much at all. The Bailey Center made it easy for our guests to walk straight to the reception and after a full day of decorating, I was able to transform it into what I wanted. Mt. Sequoyah also offers several cabins so that guests can stay right at the venue! My only complaint was dealing with a lady named Brenda. She almost ruined my wedding weekend because she was so rude! Talk to anyone else if you decide to have your wedding here, especially Karen. She was amazing!
