We chose to go with Mountain Laurel to cater our wedding out of recommendation from our venue, the fact that we liked their concept of local and freshly prepared food and because the tasting was impressive and wonderful, so we booked them despi...te the fact that we had to rent glassware and linens (which they do not provide), hire bar tenders and a cleanup crew (which were closer within our budget than what Mountain Laurel offered), and also arrange for someone to place our linens on each table without an additional cost. The menu that was put together for us was exactly what we wanted and we loved the unique aspects of many of the menu items. Mountain Laurel was professional, flexible and kept contact with us, answering all of our emails (every email literally went into my spam folder, so once I noticed that, I made sure to check that folder). Our wedding dinner was served family style and they were spot on with delivering the meals to those with dietary restrictions. At our reception and afterwards, we heard from guests that the food was good and the best food they have had at a wedding. We also enjoyed the food, but the brisket my husband and I were served was pretty fatty and really not as good or flavorful as it was at the tasting (and what I have had in the past). The only odd thing was that when we were in the process of booking a caterer, Sarah and Chef Pat initially told us they would be on vacation on our wedding date but that they had confidence their staff would be able to handle it. Later, they had told us via email and also verbally at our tasting, that they rescheduled their vacation and they would indeed be present for our wedding (also assuming because a wedding show was the day after our wedding so they could participate). To be honest, the fact that Chef Pat and Sarah would be present to cater at our reception was one of the many aspects that helped make our decision to book them. On the day of our wedding, Sarah and Chef Pat were not there, which I understand, things come up, things happen, but we were under the impression that they would be there and we were never notified nor given a quick heads-up that they wouldn’t be. Just thought that was a little strange. They did give us a card (along with glasses and a bottle of prosecco - thank you, by the way!) that we read when we came home from our honeymoon saying they were sorry they couldn’t be at our wedding. Regardless, we had a lovely, beautiful day and we thank Mountain Laurel for being a part of it.
