We hosted our wedding weekend at MVGR last August. Our wedding was unique, with a fusion of Indian and Western traditions, which meant we had two weddings in one weekend, along with other events. We knew this would be new territory for MVGR, and while there were challenges, we found people to be open and accepting of new traditions and requests. The location is absolutely breathtaking, and we knew almost immediately upon our visit this was the place for us. Because of the scale of our wedding, we made full use of all the venues they offered. With so many different events—Sangeet, Hindu ceremony, Baraat, Episcopal ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and after-party—it was ideal that our guests could stay on-site. The venue felt like a campus, perfect for a multi-event wedding. We used the Presidential Lawn, Presidential Ballroom, Grand View Garden, Grand View Tent, Crystal Ballroom, Clubhouse, and even took over the front and sides of the hotel for our Baraat. Our experience wasn’t without challenges. There was significant turnover in wedding coordinators throughout our planning process, which did unfortunately lead to lost information and things falling through the cracks. Wedding coordinators we had were not responsive, and each time we had a new person, we had to start from scratch, which was frustrating. At one point, we had to involve the manager. What saved and made our experience—and the reason I’m giving this review five stars—was the incredible effort of Christine and Tammy. They stepped in during our event and made sure everything went according to plan. Their longevity at the resort, combined with their experience and superior communication skills, made all the difference. They went above and beyond to ensure our wedding weekend went flawlessly, and we couldn't be more grateful. In the end, despite the challenges we faced with the planning process, choosing MVGR was the right decision for us. The venue is beautiful, and the staff, particularly Christine and Tammy, made sure our wedding was everything we hoped for and more. We’re thankful for their dedication and hard work, which made our weekend incredibly special to us.
I got married here in September 2023 and the day was magical. This venue is absolutely gorgeous, and the mountains surrounding the historic hotel made the perfect backdrop for such a romantic and dreamy day. We did have a change in wedding coordinators a couple of times, but in the end Michelle was attentive, detail oriented, and made the day as smooth and easy as possible. Adam, who was my "Go To Guy" all weekend was available every moment to fix any minor problems, help guests, and put a drink in my hand. Everything was taken care of for me, so I had no stress and was able to fully enjoy my wedding weekend. From the welcome reception to the after party, my guests all had an incredible time. I can't stop gushing about the day, and would absolutely recommend MVG!
My husband and I got married at the Mountain View Grand on November 11, 2023 and couldn’t have had a more beautiful and memorable wedding! It was everything I dreamed my wedding would be and more.
This was a bit of a destination wedding as we live in CT, so everyone was coming from pretty far and staying at the property. I loved this choice as we got to spend so much more time with our friends and family. We held all of our wedding events there (rehearsal dinner, welcome bonfire, after party and morning after brunch) and everything went off without a hitch.
Michele was our fourth wedding planner. Admittedly we were nervous with all of the changes that had been happening, but Michele stepped in, came up to speed quickly and made everything perfect. And our two banquet captains were simply unparalleled. I can’t get over how they hustled the whole weekend and were just so so kind and detailed. They felt like family and treated us as such.
Everything was on time too.
The ceremony location was gorgeous, even in November! And the Crystal ballroom is just stunning. Plus, the club house was so cute for the rehearsal dinner and after party.
Food was exactly as we had in our tasting: all of our guests were raving. Get the short ribs and the maple soaked cake! The Italian buffet for our rehearsal was so delicious too. I wasn’t sure what to expect since we didn’t sample this beforehand but wow! And the morning after brunch was also above and beyond. So many hearty options, it was a great way to send off our guests. And the whole weekend, bartenders worked fast to get drinks in hands asap.
I really can’t say enough positive things. I had high expectations and was nervous from the management change, but man oh man, The Mountain View team blew it out of the water. I just wish I could live it all over again. Thank you to everyone involved for the wedding of our dreams.
While the venue itself is beautiful, the most stressful part of our wedding planning process was the communication, follow-through, and execution of the wedding by the Mountain View Grand. By the time our wedding weekend arrived, one year from when we booked the venue, we were on our 4th contact at the venue due to staffing changes.
It became nearly impossible to get a response to an email or phone call without two or three follow-up requests, and ultimately having to go to the manager of the hotel to get someone to respond to basic questions regarding our event.
Thankfully I was very on top of the planning, and hired a weekend-of coordinator to come in and make sure everything would go smoothly despite the venue. Even with that, when the weekend came, set-ups were done incorrectly (the wrong tables were placed, floorplans I was promised weren't even possible, etc.), and things we discussed (ie, passed wine at cocktail hour to avoid long bar line) did not happen as they had not properly staffed for the event. The servers and bartenders themselves were very professional and kind, but there were not enough staff.
Overall, the Mountain View Grand is a wedding factory. They sell the package of the New England wedding and it is a great place if you want all of your guests to stay on site. I am thankful for Shelby who did her best to assist when she could, but otherwise the event staff and wedding coordinators need some serious work. I would not recommend this venue to anyone who values a basic level of communication from their wedding venue. In hindsight, I would have chosen a different venue.
I am giving 2 stars because the setting itself is magnificent and they have done their best to keep the charm of the hotel during recent renovations. The staff that have been there a long time are good, the new staff and extreme turnover rate are not good.
Overall , Mountain View Grand is beautiful and well-suited for weddings. Ultimately we went through three different wedding coordinators (honestly weren't thrilled with their partnership to begin with) and were happy with the final one for our big day.
Pros:
- beautiful views and unique destination wedding location
- on-site catering is pretty good
- lobby recently redecorated and looks modern
- rooms are updated and comfortable (especially for such an old historic hotel)
- lots of on-premise activities available for guests
- day-of coordinator was helpful and knowledgeable
Cons:
- not particularly accommodating when it came to our special requests (e.g. golf carts for mobility-limited guests, bigger room block)
- room rates are VERY expensive, several guests ended up finding a cheaper rate through AAA or Hotels.com than our given room block rate
- the wedding reception rooms are little outdated (carpets, chairs)
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. DO NOT get married here. Leading up to our wedding, (9/2022-9/2023), there were 5 abrupt changes- our "wedding coordinators". On the Thursday before our wedding, our newest wedding coordinator went over our BEO with us. They are able to change the PDF documents you ALREADY sign without your permission, so there were so many changes we needed to review. It should be illegal to do that & our 'wedding' coordinator agreed and tried her best to remediate the extra charges. On the day of the welcome party, which we had said there would be 180 people in and out, there was only two bartenders. They were extremely rude and clearly understaffed and could not handle the party drink requests at all. We tried to let this slide hoping the wedding day would be better.
1. our wedding coordinator was unable to move guests from lobby to the ceremony. She literally asked the groom to help her do so...
2. the cocktail hour had ONE bartender for 230 guests. They ran out of drinks within 40 minutes. It was mortifying. My guests shared there was only ONE out of THREE apps we paid for passed out AND NO PLATES. When we spoke with the GM Lloyd the next morning, he said it was a "misperception"
3. They lost my guestbook AND gift box. Blamed it on my florist, and to this day they will not answer any emails or texts about it.
4. The bar the day of. We paid for 4 bartenders, there were 2 and one quit mid shift. The line was 40 minutes for a drink. It completely RUINED the entire wedding because we were so stressed and having to argue with the bartenders to serve drinks faster. They ran out of liquor and beer half way through the night. How does that even happen? It was so ridiculous and embarrassing and ruined the entire night. For some place so fancy and wealthy, how do they do this? It was in our contract for 4!!!!
5. Lloyd, the GM, ended up taking half off the bar tab because it was so atrocious, but we didn't even care about the $$ at that point- our wedding had already been full of stressors. Things we should NOT had to have worried about.
6. After party- we had signed the contract from 10:30-1 AM. When we got there, they said the contract was actually only until 12:30. Again, my husband was fighting with the staff about this instead of enjoying our night. They had "security" guards following guests around and being so rude.
The fact that they could change signed PDF's is an issue. I flagged it to many wedding vendors so people know what to expect.
This weekend was a complete nightmare. They had a year to prepare for this wedding. They clearly were not able to accommodate 230 people, and they should have stated that. We spent over 60,000 and they let us down in every single way. I wanted to sue them, but my husband wanted to just pay the final bill and have it be over. I still am looking at all of my options. What was supposed to be the best weekend of our lives was completely ruined by these incompetent and rude staff members. Please do not even consider this venue- the views while beautiful was NOT worth the stress and disappointment. If we could do it over we would have NEVER went with them.
DO NOT hold your wedding at the MVG
We recently held our wedding at the MVG and were appalled by our experience leading up to the wedding.
Initially, we worked with Katarina, who was amazing to work with. Unfortunately, she left a few months later and the change of hands set into motion many communication issues. Our interactions with her replacement were nothing short of frustrating as the senior sales manager was (1) repeatedly not responsive by email, (2) repeatedly difficult to contact by phone, even when trying to make contracted payments and (3) offered us options which we found out later were not available on the MVG wedding menu.
Thirty days before the wedding, we had not heard from the MVG despite multiple attempts to reach the senior sales manager to finalize the details. Finally, we reached out to the day-of coordinator to try to determine who the point of contact was for our wedding. We were only then informed that there was a new director of sales. We finally had our “1 month” details meeting 3 weeks before the event. This call was nerve-wracking as the director of sales was very new to the MVG and our wedding information. The director of sales also told us that many of the details (food/beverage choices, seating arrangements, etc) we were promised by the previous senior sales manager would not be possible.
Two weeks before the wedding, we were told that we could not hold our rehearsal dinner and welcome reception in our contracted venue. We were displaced from our contracted venue to accommodate a second party. This was a flagrant breach of our contract, which we had signed nearly a year in advance and placed a down payment on.
We discussed the venue change with Jim Myers (GM/Senior VP of Operations of Hay Creek). Jim was not apologetic or sympathetic to our concerns. He was unable to explain the breach of contract and offered unreasonable solutions, like putting our guests on an open porch with rain and cold temperatures in the forecast. Finally, we agreed to move our rehearsal dinner into our wedding venue to avoid further conflict. When we asked for compensation after being displaced from our original venue (room deposit waived, room night comped, or help decorating the new venue we were displaced into), we were told that no concessions were going to be discussed at that time. In both our email exchanges and phone calls, Jim Myers was both extremely curt and often rude, demonstrating a clear lack of respect for us as clients. We were further insulted when we were told that the MVG’s only concessions would be to not add an additional charge for the new room which they had forced us to move into, and that they would waive a $500/hr bar sales minimum policy that did not exist in writing in any of the contracts we were provided.
Other issues we had with the sales department included: (1) an inability or significant delay in providing us with accurate invoices for our wedding despite repeated requests (2) intentional miscommunication around our requests for a signature cocktail list, nearly leading to us not being able to choose signature cocktails (3) the details of our BEO (banquet event order) were not provided to us until 3 days before our first event despite repeated requests.
Once we arrived at the MVG, we could not have been more appreciative of the treatment by the staff on site (servers, etc) and especially Lia, the day-of coordinator. We truly hope that they are appreciated for their hard work.
We had a great experience with the Mountain View Grand. We chose the Mountain View Grand because wanted to have our wedding in New England and in a location where we could make a whole weekend experience for our guests in order to maximize the amount and quality of time we got to spend together. The MVG fit the bill. We had our rehearsal dinner, welcome event, ceremony, reception, and after party all on site in the various available event spaces. The hotel and surrounding areas are beautiful and full of fun activities for all ages. The staff was friendly, professional, and overall very seamless to work with as we planned our wedding. The food is delicious as well, and the chef/catering staff were able to accommodate some rather stringent dietary restrictions. Overall, we had THE BEST wedding ever, and we highly recommend!! The hotel did book up a couple months ahead of your wedding, so encourage your guests to book early ;)
The Mountain View Grand was everything we were looking for for our wedding - the beauty of a historical hotel and the charming New England feel, with the more formal glamour of the ballroom! We loved the privacy of the back garden for our ceremony and the tent for cocktail hour, with the ballroom right there. Guests barely had to walk a few steps between them all! We loved that a lot of our guests could stay at the resort, and we got lots of compliments on how much there was to do and the beauty of the views. We had some communication issues leading up to the day, notably around the limited number of rooms we were able to have in our block, but ultimately our day was still great. Evan and Katarina were helpful and accommodating. We initially looked at the Mount Washington resort but found the MVG to be the perfect 'little sister', offering much of the same glamour but at a much more affordable price point for both us and for our guests.
If you’re looking for a spectacular location to have your wedding in the White Mountains - look no further! We recently got married at the MVG and my husband & I both couldn’t recommend the hotel, staff and Evan & Katarina more to all couples out there! We had our initial meeting with them about a year prior to the wedding date and Katarina was able to provide all the information we were looking for and wrote down all the questions we had. She emailed us the answers with plenty of detail right after. As the months went along and we got closer to our wedding date, we had multiple calls with Evan to make sure we were all set. He was AMAZING and answered everything I could have asked during the meeting. He really put us at ease for such a big day in our lives. All the details were really thought through and it made us so happy. Once the day actually came, the team at MVG performed so well! All of our guests left saying how beautiful the venue and how great the staff was. Again, Evan killed it! With any detail that could have gone wrong - he fixed it and asked me about it. It was amazing! The venue itself is just breathtaking, as well. Looking through the back drop of all of our photos is great!
Katarina and the staff at Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa made our wedding dreams come true! The weekend of our wedding was a dream.
The food was incredible and the service was top knotch. We got married in the Presidential ballroom and had our ceremony just a short walk away in the main hotel in the Crystal Ballroom. EVERYTHING was perfect. Katarina and Evan made sure to go through each individual detail with us in the weeks leading up to the big day, and the day before.
I would highly recommend this venue. We got married on 1.22.22 and the mountain views during the winter were something we will NEVER forget!
We had our wedding at Mountain View Grand on 10/23/21 and everything was truly perfect. We arrived three days before our wedding to enjoy the hotel/beautiful views from the porch. We had a two year engagement (we booked the venue two years prior) and Katarina - the wedding planner from MVG was so responsive throughout that entire time. The food from the rehearsal dinner and wedding were received so many compliments as well as the wedding cake that they made/decorated! My bridesmaids, flower girls and MOB/MOG and I also got our hair and makeup done there. They were very efficient and did a great job. We would recommend The Mountain View Grand Hotel for weddings/events and to visit/stay! Thank you all so much for making our wedding weekend magical!
We had our wedding at the Mountain View Grand this past weekend and have nothing but wonderful things to say. Every person we spoke with was so kind and helpful and accommodating. Katarina especially was our point person throughout our planning and she just really did a fantastic job! Day of we worked with Jayci who helped organize and keep everything running smoothly, despite some showers rolling through during the time arpund our ceremony she was flexible and communicated so well with myself and our whole wedding party. The hotel & grounds are so beautiful and the food was amazing! I cannot rave enough about our cake! I expected a simple and white frosting cake, only to be surprised with the most gorgeous mountain inspired cake I've ever seen, thanks to the MVGs baker Sabrina! 😍 We even had hair/makeup done in the Tower spa and everyone looked and felt amazing! I'm so in love with this place and plan to go back again and again.
Our wedding at the MVG was perfect! Katarina did a fantastic job with all of the details. She was easy to contact and responsive, just a delight to work with. The venue is breath-taking and the make the whole process so easy. make sure not to skip out on your tasting! That was one thing we particularly enjoyed in the process. We received countless compliments from guest and look forward to going back for years to come.
We held our wedding at the MVG this past fall. It was absolute perfection. We loved the personal attention we received throughout the planning process and our guests were one awe of the breathtaking mountain views.
The staff was professional, accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was special despite COVID restrictions. The venue was gorgeous, the food was delicious and everything went smoothly!
Overall, The Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa was a beautiful place to get married. It has the grand charm of historical New England with beautiful views but is still a cozy place to be. While we weren't necessarily looking for a place to have a whole weekend affair, that is what it turned into (which was great). We were able to park on Friday morning and did not get back into a car until Sunday afternoon. We had our rehearsal on Friday, did axe throwing with our bridal party then had our rehearsal dinner in the garden room that has it's own patio and fire pit. We then had our welcome party for those who came up on Friday out on the patio afterwards. The actual day itself ran very smoothly with the help of the coordinators Alexis and Katarina who were both very helpful and nice. The crystal ballroom is gorgeous, and the food was delicious! We finished the day with an afterparty at the club house which was really great for those who weren't ready to go to bed.
Cons: Our wedding coordinator changed through the process but it was early on for us so it did not effect us. Sometimes communication was slow and I would not hear back for days to a week which got frustrating at times especially close to the wedding. The hotel rooms are expensive even with a room block. We may have been a bit frustrated leading up to the wedding but the actual wedding weekend itself was very smooth and we had a great time getting married here!
We got married here on September 21, 2019 and it was the best day ever. We worked with Alexis for months leading up to the event, and I can't say enough good things about her. She was always calm (no matter how nervous I was), responded to every email and was on top of every detail.
We had the best wedding ever. The venue is gorgeous - in the middle of the white mountains and will always have a very special place in our hearts. The staff onsite is amazing, like really amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better spot to get married.
To Alexis - thank you for putting up with me, you were amazing and so accommodating and I really can't thank you enough. You rock.
I would highly highly recommend this venue as a wedding venue.
The staff at the resort was incredibly helpful, especially Alexis. She was on top of every detail and incredibly easy going. She made sure everything ran so smoothly. She put up with last minute changes to menus and was agreeable to every pain in the butt thing I threw at her. The venue was gorgeous and the views are just amazing.
I have stayed at least 6 or so times at the Mountain View when we booked our wedding here. We absolutely loved it. The views were great, activities were fun! The hotel has such a beautiful charm in its age The staff was great!
Until the night of our wedding.
I write this in hopes that it prevents other brides from being as poorly treated on the night of their special day as I was.
It’s a beautiful hotel but not worth the large amounts of money you’ll spend on this wedding to be treated the way they’ll treat you.
The Spa was also awful for makeup. They charged each bridesmaid and myself $220 for hair that fell out at the ceremony and makeup that was so caked on we all looked milk white in pictures.
We enjoyed every stay so much ...
But this experience made me feel so bad, and still does to this day that I still don’t want to go back. Members of their higher staff were so degrading and rude to us. It saddens me, I loved it so much.
There’s places with views just as good that will treat you the way you should be treated during your stay! ❤️ This day should be your happiest! Not end in tears.
We had our wedding at the Mountain View Grand in September 2017. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking! The views alone can’t be beat, and the hotel and ballrooms are stunning. A lot of our guests stayed at the hotel for the weekend of our wedding and were blown away by the beauty inside and outside the hotel as well as the amazing staff members.
When we started planning our wedding, we were so relieved that this venue takes care of pretty much EVERYTHING for you - food, cake, ceremony, reception. Since we were about 3 hours away from the venue this was very appealing to us. We did have a few different planners from the wedding, and the planner we worked with for the majority of the time was not able to be present the day of our wedding. However, there was another planner who was there for us. We did have a few mishaps during our reception, nothing devistating. We are giving this venue 4 stars instead of 5 because of how difficult it was for us to get our concerns addressed. While our situation was eventually resolved, it took a lot of pushing on our end to get there.
Overall, this venue is amazing! Just be sure you are willing to speak up for yourself if a problem arises.
You can't beat the stunning backdrop of this venue. From the moment we drove up, we could imagine having all of our family and friends drive up to the venue and be awed by the great state of New Hampshire. The scenic view from this venue is a perfect backdrop for a ceremony.
MVG met our three main requirements when selecting a venue, which were 1) scenic 2) hotel on premise so everyone can stay (this makes for the best party when no one can go home!) 3) affordable - not the cheapest, but less pricey than the Omni Mount Washington with the same atmosphere.
One of the best parts about this venue is that they allowed us to rent the Clubhouse for an after party - and they didn't kick us out when the bar closed at 1am! the bartender/banquet manager (?) was the best person on staff - he happened to be around when we were figuring out our floor plan and absolutely nailed it, and then was incredibly hospitable ALL night at the after party - stayed up as late as us to clear empty glasses, all with the same smile and hospitality that we'd experienced during our first site visit. The west coasters and the night owls had a place to be noisy all night - which was so perfect, and probably a big help to the hotel guests since the clubhouse is a separate building so you can't bother anyone else :)
I definitely recommend this venue to anyone *however* you should plan to get your own wedding planner, or at the very least a day of coordinator. The venue has a high turnover rate, possibly because they're so far up north, we dealt with a lot of different people and got a lot of different answers leading up to the event. It all went off without a hitch for the most part, but they were very stressful to deal with. We were lucky enough to have a lot of very helpful family members coordinate the day of and all of the other events (golf, rehearsal), and experienced bridesmaids who knew what I should be doing or going.
So if you're thinking about it, book it, and get a local coordinator/planner like Everyday Details (seacoast based)
I got married here on 10/22/16. My ceremony and reception was in the Presidential Ballroom. I recommend this venue for every wedding!! Rachel, the wedding coordinator, has so much experience it was such a relief working with someone so experienced. She made magic happen the day of my wedding when a few things went wrong (my own fault). The hotel is GORGEOUS and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. My wedding will forever be talked about, everyone of my family and friends said they had one of the best times at the hotel.
DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE! I repeat- do not have your wedding here! I was a bridesmaid at my family's wedding this summer. While the venue was gorgeous and the scenery was amazing the service couldn't have been worse! It was a large wedding of over 100 and it seemed like the staff just simply did not know what they were doing.
Everything went wrong and it came down to the bride having to take control which shouldn't ever happen at a wedding- especially such an expensive venue like the Mountain View Grand. The staff was inattentive, rude at times, and literally "forgot" do to certain things until the bride and groom mentioned it to them. It was like they have never done a wedding there before! There was actually a time where the groom had to ask to pull out the contract so he could show them that they had paid for something that did not happen.
In addition to the poor service I feel like I need to comment on the spa - specifically the salon. Hair and makeup were pricey for what we actually got. My hair stylist Gary-Lee was amazing. May hair was beautiful and stayed all night. She also did the bride's makeup which was nice. However, there was another hairstylist that did not do a great job at all, and the makeup artist Brooke was plain awful. I actually had to go back to my room and touch up the makeup she did. Both the makeup used and the technique were poor. Also, the $25 false eyelash charge was a joke- the eyelashes that they use are individual lashes which would normally be fine and look great if they actually knew how to put them on! They were put on so sparsely and they used the wrong lengths in the wrong places so they looked like little spider legs. Awful.
My recommendations- if you are dead set on this venue- make sure you are having a small wedding. Like under 50 people small. I also recommend you get your own makeup artist- one who does professional airbrush makeup that will last all night.
Our wedding weekend at the MVG Resort was flawless. The staff is beyond helpful and kind. Our wedding coordinator went above and beyond. The 360 views of the white mountains and the beautiful historic building make the resort a perfect backdrop. Our ceremony and cocktail hour were outdoors in the gardens which were immaculately landscaped prior to our big day. Our reception was indoors in the most beautiful ballroom I've ever laid my eyes on. The food was absolutely amazing during every meal. Our brunch the next day was in the same room. The rehearsal dinner and welcome party had been in another space which came with a deck at the front of the resort, also with sweeping views. Our guests didn't need to leave the resort the entire weekend - so convenient. The spa on site did all our hair and makeup while the gold course kept the men busy during a tournament the morning of the big day. I can't recommend the resort enough!
Not only is the venue absolutely beautiful, but the staff is exceptional and first class when it comes to service. From the first moment we toured the venue, the staff willing answered questions and was willing to work with us to make it our dream wedding. They were able to accommodate our budget for certain asks, as well as the spaces we wanted to utilize for the wedding. They ensured our wedding ran smoothly and was exactly how we planned. I am so happy I chose such an amazing location and that the staff lived up to every expectation, if not exceeded.
This place is absolutely stunning. We had our wedding on the overlook lawn and the reception in the presidential ballroom. My only real complaint was the turn over in staff they appear to have. We booked our wedding about 11 months out and went through 3 different venue coordinators (catering managers). This presented its own obstacles in agreed details falling through the cracks. Keeping every email and doing detailed outlines of conversations saved me a lot of time and money. The turnover included the events chef after we had already done the food tasting. They kept our menu, however, the food tasted nothing like the taste testing and left much to be desired. That was actually one area I was pretty disappointed. All that being said though, all of the staff was exceptionally helpful and nice. Our guests loved being there. The leaves were about at their peak and all the daily activities offered made our guests very happy. I will definitely return and would recommend this place to anyone.
This venue is absolutely stunning...making decor very easy in planning a wedding. Our guests had an amazing weekend. It is a hidden gem. The staff were great...highly recommend booking the SPA ASAP once you book your wedding date this was where we ran into the most problems. I would not change a thing about the day and how it went and it was thanks to the MVG and their staff.
We recently got married here and are so happy. We stopped here 6 years ago for horse back riding and knew this was where we had to have the big day someday. The views alone are breathtaking. The ceremony and reception areas are so beautiful. All the guests were pleased and found many things to do here all weekend. The food is so delicious. The comment we heard all weekend was that it didn't taste like typical wedding food, even the portions were larger than most venues. It is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for. Thank you!
My husband and I cannot say enough great things about the Mountain View Grand. It was absolutely gorgeous! The food is delicious, the ballroom is amazing and the staff is phenomenal. Allison was our coordinator and she was attentive, punctual, organized, kind, easy-going and communicative. We had the most amazing day of our lives and owe so so much of it to the MVG. I would recommend this venue to anyone! We cannot wait to go back for many years to celebrate our anniversary :)
I've always wanted to get married at the Mt. View, I just didn't realize how amazing it would be. Our wedding coordinator thought of everything and was always on her game. The service was exceptional, and it made my guests (and me) have that much better of a time. Fantastic food, delicious cake, and stunning views! I'd pick this place over the Mt. Washington any day. The hotel was so comfortable, and after that long day my groom and I came back to find a plate of chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, and a hand-written note of congrats from our coordinator. I'd pick them again and again.
Right from the moment we drove up Mountain View Road, we knew that we were going to get married here. The resort gives off a classic, beautiful vibe, without being uncomfortably fancy. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and made distributing the guest welcome bags super easy. Only a few months before the wedding, the resort informed us that the wedding coordinator had left. This was devastating, as we felt that we made a good connection with her – but luckily, Allison stepped up and did an excellent job. She made an extra effort to make sure the transition went smoothly, and none of the details were lost. We came a few days early to get things ready, and Allison was with us the moment we arrived. The day before, she helped ensure that Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner went smoothly. The morning of the wedding, Allison tied together all the individual wedding details – from the ceremony programs to the escort cards. The ceremony space was absolutely gorgeous, overlooking the mountains. The Crystal Ballroom is stunning, with a large chandelier and vaulted ceiling over the dancefloor – it had plenty of space for our 160 guests. Although we would consider the day to be nearly perfect, there were a few things that could’ve been improved slightly. As our wedding was in August, the Ballroom quickly became very hot, and the air conditioning could not handle it. We asked the staff several times to open the windows, but they were unwilling – the groom ended up doing it himself. Another issue was the bartending staff. We had chosen to offer our guests a beer and wine open bar, and the bartenders could not keep up. We were even told that it was one of the bartender’s first weekends working. We were disappointed that they had used our wedding as a training opportunity, and we felt bad for the one experienced bartender who was clearly overworked. Some of our guests even opted to go downstairs to the hotel bar to purchase their beer and wine instead. Overall, the resort was the perfect location for our wedding, and we cannot thank Allison and the MVG enough for making our experience special. We look forward to spending many anniversaries there.
As mother of the bride, I planned the entire wedding. I started by picking venues -3- for the bride and groom to choose. Mountain View Grand was by far the unanimous choice.
We were treated with expert, caring, polite staff that never ceased to amaze me! From the moment we drove up, everything was perfect! We all loved our rooms! The bride and groom had the presidential suite as a gift from my husband and I! The best gift! Great place for cocktails before events! The couple were ecstatic staying there in luxury!
The beds in all the rooms are beyond divine! You never have to ask for anything, it appears!
This is an exquisite, comfortable, fun, deluxe service wedding venue!
Everybody loved everything! The veranda with views!
We are beyond pleased with how the wedding turned out!
The bride is a Vanderbilt Whitney! No one knew, because everyone is treated like royalty! Linda Irving
We had our wedding here at Mountain View Grand... The views are phenomenal, the food is amazing, and the activities are plentiful! The guests will not be bored. Guests are still raving about it, however, I'm here to inform you of the background work and service provided... which all brides and grooms will want to know. In short, there was a significant lack of communication between our coordinator and the rest of the staff (They did not fulfill their side of the contract which was in WRITING - all should have been checking that and requests should have been communicated to the correct people). No one is asking how to help or if they can help and if you seek them out.. they YES you to death but then do NOT complete it. We were informed the reception room would be set up early for us to review everything was out.. but it was not set up until Saturday at 4 (as we are walking down the aisle and did not have time to review). We had asked several times for things to be in place and they never got done nor did they tell us so that we could have done it ourselves or asked another guest. At the end of the night clean up, they threw items away after being asked not to. Outdoors, they cleaned up their own items (table) but then threw our items onto the grass and left it outside in the rain. Guest services do not tell you if another guest provides a nice gesture, leaving you to guess who delivered something to your room. The details of the bar was set up in a written contract but they neglected to offer an open bar during cocktail hour as agreed upon in the contract and instead did beer and wine only. They were frequently charging the wrong credit cards or charging double on multiple cards for the same charge. A few of the guests had this issue and even members of the other wedding party that weekend were saying the same thing regarding the service and the wrong charges. Overall, the venue itself is great but the service is terrible!!!
We got married at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa (MVG), in Whitefield, NH in June 2014. The beginning of our wedding planning process was somewhat stressful, trying to find just the right venue and traveling to visit our top picks. We had even booked another venue before finding MVG that was beautiful, but just didn’t feel like us. We saw the MVG online along with many other beautiful venues in NH. We took a road trip to visit our top four NH venues, with MVG being the furthest at about 7 hours from home. When we got to MVG, we met with Allison Duffy and Susannah and by the end of our tour, we were both speechless. Not only was MVG absolutely beautiful, with stunning views, it also had the perfect atmosphere for us: a causal elegance. All of the staff we met were extremely friendly and welcoming. Once we deciding on MVG as our venue, everything else fell into place and the rest of the planning process was smooth sailing. Allison really helped us organize our plans and answered any questions we had about set up, scheduling and vendors. Throughout the entire planning process, Allison was very responsive and helpful and we felt like we had a wedding planner thanks to all of her efforts. She came up with helpful suggestions that we would have never thought of. When it came to dealing with the hotel, everyone was amazing. A few months before the wedding, we were considering upgrading our bridal suite to get more room and the best views for first look photos. Christina from reservations, actually personally went into each of the rooms we were thinking about to give us a detailed description of each room, and which one she thought would be best suited for what we were looking for (her room pick was perfect). We also worked with the Spa for massages, nails and hair and make-up for part of our bridal party. We had a very large bridal party, the MVG Spa did all of the hair and make-up for several groomswomen, the mother of the groom and several aunts who were part of the ceremony. Everyone finished on time and the hair and make-up looked beautiful. All of the other services, especially the massages, were amazing. On the day of, Allison was an excellent coordinator - we didn’t have to worry about a thing. She kept everything running smooth and on-time, and coordinated with all of our vendors. We lucked out and had perfect weather, but if there had been rain, the Crystal Ballroom is so beautiful it would have been a great alternative. The whole day was like a dream come true - we don’t think we could have imagined a more beautiful and fun wedding if we tried. The reception was a blast and the food was great. All of our guests raved about the MVG and were so happy they made the trip, which for many was a 6-7 hour drive. In fact, many of our guests have already made reservations to go back. The axe throwing class was also a huge hit with our guests. The Wine Cellar is also amazing! We could not recommend the Mountain View and Allison enough and can’t wait to go back for our first anniversary.
My husband and I were very particular when searching for a venue to host our wedding. We looked at MANY resorts in the New England area and as soon as we drove up to the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa and had our initial tour, we KNEW in that instant we had found the PERFECT venue to celebrate such a special day.
Our "Must Haves" included finding a resort that had a "Grand" entrance, a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains (the MVG is surrounded by 57 peaks!), a breathtaking ballroom with plenty of windows to enjoy the views, delicious food, plenty of hotel rooms to make it convenient for our guests, on-site dining and taverns (the MVG has MANY options!) and a spa/salon where I could get ready the day of my wedding. Basically we were searching for a grand resort with "one-stop shopping" conveniences so that everything was on-site. Another huge "must have" for us, was finding a venue where the customer service was extraordinary! We had a WONDERFUL experience at the MVG and made friends throughout the process! I would like to acknowledge several folks including (but not limited to): Savannah (Reservations-so professional, pleasant and excellent at her job!), Rachel (Director of Sales-Rachel couldn't do enough for us and Rachel was FANTASTIC!), Shelby (Front Desk-so helpful with everything!), Michael (Beverage and Event Captain-Michael was FANTASTIC and was there if we needed ANYTHING); Ewon (Beverage and Event Captain-Ewon was terrific!!! He was professional, friendly and just a pleasure to work with. He was there in an instant if we needed anything), Eric (Tavern Bartender-Eric was marvelous! So good at his job and so friendly with our guests), Kurt, Kurt Jr. and Josh (Customer Service/Bellhop-talk about Customer Service...they all went above and beyond for us from the second we checked-in to the second we left), Sue (Manager-Sue was excellent and was there to answer any questions we had), Kaitlyn (Event Assistant-Kaitlyn was a huge help!), Chef Kayla (what a nice person and a very talented Chef!!!),Chef Ben (Unbelievable Chef-everyone RAVED about his food!), Britany (our host/waitress during our stay-We always had huge parties and she did a fantastic job!), Jen, Olivia, Gari-Leigh, Megan (Spa/Salon-these girls were GREAT and I can't wait to see them again when we return!) and countless others for making us feel so special!
I would also like to take a moment to talk about the MVG's off-season rates. As I mentioned in the beginning of my review, we had toured MANY resorts in the New England area, and the MVG package was the most economical and they offered the nicest packages. The elegance, charm, class and history that the MVG offers is second to none. My husband and I look forward to visiting the MVG at LEAST once a year and we already have several family members and friends who have told us they are already looking into returning!
Finally, the MVG is truly a resort as it has a movie theater on-site, a farm, hiking trails, adult axe throwing competitions (this was a huge hit with our guests!) history tours and more!
I can't say enough about the MVG other than...if you're getting married and are looking for a truly "Grand", "Elegant", "Timeless" and "Magnificent" ceremony & reception venue to host your big day, save yourself some time and schedule a tour at the MVG as the first place you see...you won't be disappointed!
The venue is breathtaking, and unique. The amenities are there. Having your wedding here will be a fairytale. You will need to ask for what you want and speak up when you are unhappy.
We were able to take our wedding from one day to 5 days of events for our guests, who enjoyed: axe throwing, hiking, golf, a private campfire night with s'mores, wine tasting, farm animals, a movie night, and a private yoga class.
The Crystal Ballroom is breathtaking and allows for dancing and partying with amazing views. We chose this venue over the Mountain Washington based on the ballroom. Our rehearsal was in the Clubhouse which was wonderful, private and close to the campfire for our s'mores welcome party.
Planning got better as we got closer to our event. You will need to stay on top of your details if you're looking to plan in advance as I did.
Our wedding was PERFECT but one frustration we had was we paid a large tip with the bar package and bartenders put tip jars out. We asked them to be removed at cocktail hour and they were but they appeared again at another point and when mentioned were removed. This is beyond obnoxious and should not be an option to even be out. It should be made clear the tip has been taken care of it is insulting to the people who have paid thousands of dollars to have this issue to deal with.
Last piece of advice is to ask for what you want and speak up when you are unhappy or you will be unhappy. Speak up, ask and your wedding here will be PERFECTION!
We looked for our venue for over 6 months and when we finally stumbled upon MVG we instantly fell in love. The ballroom is huge and gorgeous! The property has views that simply CANNOT be beat. And, our guests absolutely loved the property - the views, the activities, the pools... all were HUGE hits. Just about everyone on staff were amazingly personable and so friendly as well - it was a true pleasure to hold our wedding here and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great view, nice staff and a beautiful ballroom!
PS: The food was OK - I would definitely suggest tasting anything you order as some stuff was really good and others were not so great (the crab cakes were awful).
We had a perfect wedding at a perfect place! It is such a beautiful location, it's hard to not want to get married here! We booked the venue two years in advance, so the wedding planners did change throughout the planning process, which wasn't great, but our planner we had the last year (Rachel!) was FANTASTIC! She was so sweet and worked so hard to make everything just the way we wanted. The downfall for guests is that it has a two night minimum in the summer months, so it was hard for people to afford to come for the whole weekend. A number of guests stayed at other accommodations and just came to the wedding. We did have a number of one night rooms for the wedding party, but it would be helpful if they did not have the 2 night minimum. The rooms are pricey anyways, and it is an old hotel so they are not anything fancy, but clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful, especially the kitchen staff during the reception and cocktail hour, they were so nice, very friendly! The reservations desk was a little disorganized, we were told a few different things from different people, so it made it confusing when it came to the end when we had to check out. But they were polite and tried their best to help us out. The staff at the clubhouse were fantastic as well, they kept it open wayyy past the normal hours on the night of our rehearsal dinner for all of our guests and we had a great time! One thing I did not like was that we never even got to experience the spa because the other bride getting married that weekend booked all of the spa appointments, so we had to go elsewhere for mani/pedis and bring in an outside vendor for hair. I am not sure why if they have two brides getting married the same weekend, they cannot accommodate two brides in the spa. All in all, great weekend, great venue, great staff made our wedding perfect!
Review for DJ service:
We had our DJ through the Mountain View Grand, Joey Bertin. He is a great musician, plays acoustic guitar and has an impressive resume including Berkley School of Music. They gave us a great deal to have the in-house DJ, so we couldn't pass it up. He played the acoustic guitar for our rehearsal dinner which was a great touch. We were a little disappointed in the actual DJ service he provided for the reception, however. We gave him a list of songs we wanted played for both dinner and dancing, and he said he would play a few of the songs at dinner on the guitar, which we agreed would be nice during dinner to switch it up a bit. But he ended up played during the whole dinner on the guitar, so we didn't get to hear any of the songs we wanted to hear actually played. Also during the dancing he played a "game" where all the couples dance and get eliminated by anniversary, and the last couple standing gives us advice on a good marriage. I guess this could be a cute idea, but we had not discussed doing this at all and it was something we really did not want to do. It was boring and took way too long (two whole songs!) and was just really not our style. Really wish they had asked us if we wanted to do anything like that before just doing it. Otherwise, he did a good job with the announcements and playing requests from the guests. So I guess for DJ service I would rate a 2.5 or 3 out of 5, and if I could do it again I would probably have picked a bigger DJ company like Main Event or Peak DJ.
The Mountain View Grand is, by far, the most beautiful place in New Hampshire. The setting is perfect and the MVG is magnificent. Planning was great, although the day of, I suggest bringing a checklist - Be very specific about what you want.
The gardens are beautiful and the ballroom is breath-taking. I recommend out door wedding and the crystal ballroom - beautiful. The food was FANTASTIC! And, the ballroom staff is wonderful - thumbs up for friendliness.
There was a mix up with wedding cake (brought in own wedding cake, but flowers were miss placed by staff- best to keep all materials needed and assign person in wedding party to be in charge of).
I do not recommend MVG spa. My nails were not done well ( chipped off 2 hours after having done) and my hair fell out after the ceremony.
I had such an amazing wedding day - and thanks to MVG the pictures came out great and the guests had an amazing time! Good luck to all future brides and enjoy the beauty of the MVG.
I absolutely LOVE Mountain View Grand in Whitefield, NH. I just recentely had my wedding there less than a month ago. Everyone was very professional and increidble. They went out of their way with thoughtful, sweet gestures to make us feel taken care of and fab! All my guests loved it and even made a weekend get-a-way out of it. I could not give it all 5 stars because it was a bit pricey (but what do you expect - it's perfect!) Prices have recently increased so I'm glad we booked when we did. The only other reason is the reception desk we had a lot of problems with; Receptionists not knowing we did not have a 2 night requirement for guests - some guests booked but nothing was ever booked in their computer system - and a key was given out to my room to a guest that was never ok-ed by us (bride or groom) Other than that I loved them and would recommend this resort to all! It'll be like a fairytale wedding :)
My fiance and I were looking for mountain venues for an intimate wedding (practically an elopement, with 9 guests), and we considered the Mountain View Grand, because one of our friends had gotten married there last year and it was fantastic. Unfortunately they don't really do small weddings. They'll try and accommodate anything, but considering the cost, it seems silly to do something small for that much money. We did not choose them, but if you are planning a big wedding, I'd check them out. The views are spectacular and the food is fabulous.
We could not have chosen a better venue than the Mountain View Grand for our December wedding!! The staff was so welcoming and friendly and Angela was great to work with! They made our wedding better than we could have even dreamed of!
Lisa and the staff at the MVG were beyond amazing. From our first visit up until our wedding weekend, the communication, service, quality, and personalization was exceptional.
During our wedding weekend we felt like we were waited on hand and foot and everything was taken to the next level. The staff felt like family and made all of our stays memorable!
We HIGHLY recommend the MVG for any wedding or just a nights stay!!
Most of the guests for my wedding stayed here (along with the bridal party). The rooms were large, and people were able to share rooms (2 bedroom suites) to keep costs down. I would highly recommend staying here!
Gorgeous facilities for a wedding with breathtaking views!! The crystal ballroom is a magical room and is circular shape is ideal! The guests are still raving about the views, the room, and the food! The only negative aspect is the general hotel service is slow and often disorganized, however, not the case during the reception.
