The MUAH team exceeded my expectations with regards to hair and makeup on my big day! They were professional, quick to respond to all my questions and had flawless execution on my wedding day with me (the bride), my bridesmaids, my Mom and even... Grandma.
So, why the tough review you ask? While they were a pleasure to work with, and Bianca is the best, I ended up being very surprised at the final bill. While MUAH provided a price list for services, they only verbally quoted me an hourly rate to provide touchups after the ceremony at my venue. It wasn't clear when the hourly rate started and as a result the time they quoted me (1 hour) didn't match the final bill (3 hrs). This resulted in my final bill being more than double the price I had budgeted for, YIKES.
While some of this was on me because I didn't ask the right questions, some of it was also on them for not clearly explaining or providing in writing what that additional hourly rate breakdown was. As a result, I felt like their team took advantage of me, especially in the midst of a hectic stressful day.
When I raised the issue with Bianca, she basically boiled it down to the fact that it was what it was, and that was it. Since my bridesmaid had already paid her on the day of, there wasn't much I could do. So, the only reason I knock down stars is because of customer service. I would expect that if I came to you with that issue, and stated that I felt taken advantage of, the least you could do is chalk it up to a miscommunication and maybe throw a $100 credit in (which wasn't even half of the additional money I didn't expect to pay). That way, I still pay for my error, but I feel like you empathize with me and acknowledge the fact that I felt taken advantage of as a customer.
At the end of the day, Bianca and team did an amazing job on hair and makeup, and I would definitely recommend their work. The only thing is, make sure you understand pricing and that you are 100% clear on additional hourly rates.
