Let me start off by saying that getting married in Maui was a destination wedding for me as I reside in Las Vegas. The venue itself and the location are amazing. It’s on a golf course and the views are stunning. After having my wedding here, I will list the PROS and the CONS.
PROS:
-Working with Kristen was great
-Location is amazing
-Views are stunning
-Food was great (buffet style)
-Cost effective for Maui
-Tara (waitress) was awesome
-Are not required to hire a wedding planner
CONS:
-The on site coordinator Shasta is terrible. Doesn’t respond to emails or texts in a timely fashion. (Over a week or two before getting any response)
-Over an hour late to a scheduled meeting to tour the venue and wasn’t really prepared for the meeting and confusion on where the ceremony was to take place.
-not professional
- was supposed to be the day of coordinator on wedding day but only saw her in the beginning before the wedding and then at the very end when payment was due.
- told her I needed a speaker and mic for ceremony and she forgot to charge it so my officiant had to really project his voice since the ceremony was outside with about 75 people in attendance.
I did reach out to Kristen and the owner in reference to the behaviors listed and they talked to her but nothing really changed. If at the time I wasn’t so close to the wedding day, I would have legit canceled.
I would recommend this venue but only if they get a different on site coordinator. I understand that coordinators can get busy and such but it’s simply unacceptable to not respond or take days/ weeks to do so. All I needed was communication and for her to do her job.
Wow! What a FUN reception! Before starting in on the reception itself, I have to give a huge shout out to Julie, the event coordinator.
Since our wedding party was larger than most for a destination wedding, we were having issues finding a spot that wasn't going to cost us $25,000!! From the get go, Julie was a life saver. She may as well have been my wedding planner, she went above and beyond! We were constantly in contact and although we did not get a chance to meet her in person, I feel like we've known each other for years!
Her staff was exceptional. Everyone was very friendly. Kerry did our walk-through a couple days before the wedding. We grabbed a drink, walked the entire space and visualized the exact layout for our night! She was very detailed, answered all our questions, and was very open to making any changes we saw necessary (which we didn't).
Patrick was our go-to guy the night of. He was always making sure my groom & I had everything we needed. He realized pretty quickly that Ryan and I were too busy to eat, so he asked if he could box up a meal for us to eat later that night, which we quickly agreed to! Not only did he make sure we had food for ourselves that night, but he had his staff box up all our leftovers (which we served the next day for our open house brunch), they boxed up our cake perfectly, and saved all our flowers and bouquets! He also made sure to let us know when our bar tab had reached the limit per our budget which was super important to us. Great guy!
The venue itself was beautiful! The layout of all the tables on the lanai was gorgeous, there's a huge bar with a ton of room, and a big dancefloor as well (Julie recommended DJ Mike & he did an excellent job)! The tall trees, green grass & tiki torches around the lanai were beautiful.
If there's one thing I wish we would've had time to do, we would've bought and set up extra lights around the lanai and maybe on the dancefloor as well. Keep in mind this is an Irish pub, so of course the lighting is going to be a little darker than your typical dancefloor/ reception spot.
Lastly, the food was AMAZING! Our guests gave us so many compliments throughout the rest of our vacation. For appetizers, you MUST choose the potato tacos. They were to die for and by far the most raved about. All in all, we LOVED Mulligans and highly recommend it for your fun reception spot!
My fiancé and I were looking at Mulligans to have our wedding reception. Sadly, we have decided to get married in Oahu instead to make it cheaper and easier for our friends and family to fly over. Julie Kean is the events coordinator at Mulligans and she was super helpful with our planning. This venue would have been perfect, the buffet menu looked amazing and prices were fair. I would definitely recommend this place if you're getting married in Maui. I read a tonne of great reviews for Mulligans on Tripadvisor as well.
We had our wedding reception at Mulligan's on the Blue (restaurant buyout), which turned out pretty amazing. Julie the event coordinator I worked with over a year before the wedding did a wonderful job getting the Mulligan's staff organized for the day (she is not always on the island for the weddings). She even got the Wailea golf club to update their bathrooms before our wedding day, (we complained about them before hand on our visit with them the year before during out food tasting). The staff themselves (Patrick and his staff) we awesome. The buffet was excellent! My guest raved about the prime rib, coconut rice, poke, salad) and the slider appetizers. The venue was awesome, I had a total of about 75-80 guest including my vendors, and having the dinner tables on the Lanai's were GORGEOUS at our sunset reception! Our DJ played up to 11am, even with Maui's strict noise ordinance. I would totally recommended this venue, especially the buyout price! It's perfect for casual wedding receptions! The only down fall you may notice is that they do not have air condition in the restaurant, but their open style restaurant with big glass doors lets this wonderful Maui trade winds come thru to cool the restaurant down. I would highly recommend Mulligan's for any event venue. They are reasonably priced and the food and staff is awesome!
We just had our wedding reception at Mulligan's on March 20 and had an amazing time.
What a beautiful venue. We were set up on the front patio and the guests enjoyed the sun setting. My guests and I couldn't say enough good things about the food - I mean the Short Ribs were so delicious. The value compared to a lot of other venues around is excellent. The servers were working hard and were attentive to my guests' needs. The bartenders were also friendly and worked hard at keeping us with drinks in our hand. Kerry, the manager was great and we were able to meet with her a week before and go over everything. My only concern was that the event planner, Julie doesn't live in Maui so she may be a bit out of touch with what is going on at the restaurant and it made me a bit nervous to book with her, but as soon as I was at the venue and met Kerry, we were at ease and able to iron out a few kinks in the contract.
My only negative was how hot the place got when we were dancing inside because all the doors had to be closed after 10pm, and the no drinks on the dance floor rule - however, I know this is just the laws on Maui and nothing Mulligan's can do about - but something brides should be aware of when planning their wedding in Maui. DJ Mike was fantastic and played all of my requests. He was also able to help with all of our A/V needs, which was much appreciated.
Highly recommend for your reception! We had so much fun :)
We had our rehearsal dinner here on the patio and it was so much fun! The staff was friendly and it was great service! We also had live music!
Mulligans was so amazing!! They really took the time to care for and cater to our guests. They made us (the bride and groom) their number one priority. I would highly recommend their facility and their food. Everyone complimented the amazing food!!
Absolutely loved Mulligans! Julie Keen is the events coordinator and she is wonderful!!!! They were very easy to work with and a great value for what we got! Ilene was the manager the night of our wedding and she was just as amazing! The food was perfect!!!!!!
My husband and I were looking for a causal location with an ocean view for our wedding reception. We chose Mulligan's and were very pleased. The event coordinator, Julie, was great to work with and very informative. The view was beautiful from the front lanai, however, when the doors were open, there wasn't much privacy. They created new menus, which were great! The food was delicious and we had a very nice variety. The day of the event coordinator was also very accommodating. Overall, we were very pleased.
The lanai was so beautiful and the food was wonderful. The service was excellent and we loved the music.;The bar has a very 'bar' smell. Like old beer.
