was anything that we could do to prepare— he responded with a phone screenshot to a questionnaire and asked me if I had filled it out yet (even though I had never seen it until I prompted him). We filled out the questionnaire and had an over-the-phone meeting; I felt confident after our phone call as Don felt flexible and knowledgeable. Over the phone, he helped us decide on our ceremony and First Dance songs. I exited that phone call feeling like we had ironed out the details and that everyone was on the same page. I then emailed him an itinerary for our ceremony following the meeting. He texted me a few days before our wedding asking if I had sent the files yet (I did) and claimed that he hadn’t seen them. I ended up texting them to him, but I had several other interactions like this with him throughout our work together where he claimed he had never received emails from me. At the time, I brushed this off because I recognize that it can be easy to miss emails, but I now feel like this is just another data point for his lack of preparedness and organizational skills. On the day of our actual wedding, Don came early to set up. He had a female assistant who was friendly and personable. A few hours before our ceremony, he asked my partner and I “if we had selected songs for the ceremony entrance yet” and what they were— we reminded him that we had already decided over the phone and that this was not an appropriate time to ask us, he fumbled around and told us that he would “figure it out.” He did, however it felt unprofessional that he had forgotten this detail and that he asked the bride and groom only a few hours before the ceremony when he had been there since the morning. At our reception, he forgot to announce several things or did them in the completely wrong order— it felt almost as if he had either never read our itinerary or had read it once and then completely forgotten about it. There were several times throughout the night where various people in our Bridal and Groom’s Parties had to run up to him and either give him a reminder or literally take the microphone from him; we understand this was likely rude and annoying for him, but he literally missed out on so many details that we thought we had already ironed out with him. We feel guilty that our friends and family had to do so much damage control. After our wedding day, we received many reports from different people at our wedding about their experiences with Don; our officiant reported him being unprepared for the ceremony because he only brought one microphone, several of our guests commented that Don was physically caressing and touching his female assistant while on the job at our wedding, and other guests reported Don not being receptive to their song requests. One guest did the photo booth and reported receiving their photo in a text thanking them for being at the wedding of a couple that was NOT us— our guest had to go correct Don that the Photo Booth was not correctly set up to reflect our names. Overall, we were so incredibly disappointed. I recognize that helping organize a wedding can be a big undertaking, but so many of the mistakes on the day of our wedding felt like they could have been avoided if Don had only prepared and exercised a little bit more professionalism.

week and sent me an invoice without the discount, then a week later asked me if I was still interested in booking him after I had already sent the deposit. Our first in-person meeting I had confidence, he was a little stiff but showed us past work and we were impressed. I showed and sent him my playlist, he skimmed it and said, “Oh, those are songs is usually play!” I hired a wedding planner so she coordinated with him after that. Day off, I notice some things that are off right away. First, when he announced us coming in, we could hardly hear him. He started our entrance song after we had already started walking into the venue, then he immediately starts playing our first dance song?? I motioned to him and told him to cut it out. He also didn’t make the announcement (until I reminded him) that people could grab cupcakes in the buffet line. First song with my husband goes okay, not all the sparklers work that but that’s fine. For the anniversary dance, nobody can hear the years he’s announcing so we all just laugh out loud and leave when we think it’s been a decent amount of time. The part that upsets me the most when I think about it is that he went rouge - there were a LOT of songs playing that weren’t on my playlist. I know this because I listened to it with friends and family before the wedding and we were so excited to hear them. He would okay the same genre 4 or more songs in a row. He wasn’t playing anything for my older guests who normally are on the dance floor all night. They all stayed sitting most of the evening. I was so frustrated at one point I said, “Just take requests!” Thinking it would add some variety because he clearly wasn’t referencing the playlist I made. This made it worse. He didn’t even play ‘Sweet Caroline’ which is quintessential Midwest wedding! I should also mention we had a photo booth that I was excited about. The gal at the booth was really low energy and almost all of the photos were dark, fuzzy and out of center frame. When I talk to my in-laws and extended family they all say, “What a beautiful wedding! But what was up with the music?” :(

photographer I have seen MANY DJ's and Don is hands down the best one out there! He is constantly adding to his equipment to make sure he has everything you could ever need or want! My friends and family were even talking with him about booking for their special events by the end of night! I hire him for every event we plan. Book Don and it will be a night everyone will remember!
