We had a mixed to negative experience with them. Dara was pretty great. She was pretty responsive and communicative throughout the entire wedding process. We’re so grateful she was also on top of everything in terms of “day of” coordination. However, in terms of music on the day of the wedding, it all collapsed. That was all Doug. The music was way off. What we had issues with was that Doug almost completely disregarded our agreed upon playlists. Before we signed the contract in hiring them we made sure they were ok with us creating playlists and planning every single song throughout. On the day of the wedding, he abandoned all that. I was livid. The dinner playlist was completely abandoned. I think he played one song from it — but outside just before the reception for some reason. The pre-ceremony playlist and the cocktail playlists were chopped up with songs missing or replaced and then a select few played on loop. And the reception music. A complete mess. Every - single - song - was directly laid out for him and he still disregarded it. Wrong versions or remixes were played. Songs that had no business being played were played. We spent hours creating the playlists because we had a specific vision in mind and had taken into account our various guests’ tastes and our own personal tastes and he pretty much ruined it. There’s no excuse from him for that. At bare minimum he got the first dance songs right and the last two as well. Yes, we made the best of it and still had fun but it’s still highly unprofessional for him to have done that. That’s NOT what we agreed to and paid for. I would caution anyone against trusting Doug
I wish I could leave 2 reviews, one for Dara and one for Doug. Dara was amazing at planning and coordinating our rehearsal and day of. She was always available to answer my questions and guide me. Both Doug and Dara were at our rehearsal, setting up, scouting the venue and guiding our process. The day of our wedding, during my (the bride's) vows, there was loud and continuous audio feedback. It did not happen during the groom's or the officiant's parts, and they were mic'd, while I was not. It happened during all of my speaking parts, and through the duration. Luckily we were outside as I believe it would have been worse if we were indoors, but our guests visibly jumped as did my husband. When we asked later, people were mostly nice but made it clear that it was startling and loud and I wasn't able to be heard. During my wedding vows. Luckily our ceremony was unplugged and our amazing videographer was wise and pre-recorded us reading our vows. It was very upsetting to have such an important part of our ceremony ruined, when we were paying a premium for their "quality equipment".
During our reception, Doug played the wrong song for our Father-Daughter dance. Luckily, Dara jumped in near the beginning and put the correct song on. We chose to play games such as the "Newlywed Game" on the dance floor, and Doug had several awkward pauses, repeated a question, and seemed to generally be distracted.
Neither Doug nor Dara commented on the horrible feedback, and I did not want to confront them on my wedding day. I wish they had at least acknowledged the blunder that interrupted my wedding ceremony. Overall they were overpriced and I wish we had gone with someone else for our big day.
Doug and Dara are awesome!!! We had a wonderful time working with them. We got married at the Grand Island Mansion and Music on the Move is one of their preferred DJs. Not only did we get awesome DJ services, they ran our rehearsal when our officiant had a prior engagement and helped with a lot of coordination! They even gave us a practice session on cutting our cake! They make sure every detail is the way you want it to be and provide so much energy and fun during the reception! They make sure your guests are engaged through the whole day! We also purchased a package that included a photo booth and that was a huge hit at the wedding! So many people told me they loved it! And I loved that Music on the Move provided us with magnetic cases for the photos to go in so our guests could have a wedding favor they could display! Doug and Dara were part of what made our day so amazing; we can't thank them enough!
Thank God for Dara! She made the day run so smoothly and we could not have done it without her! On the day of the wedding, she made sure that I had no worries. She kept everyone on schedule and the wedding went smoothly in a large part to her. Doug and Dara are an AWSOME team! I was a neurotic bride, and (per my request) they met with me several times prior to the wedding, so that I could feel at ease with everything. Doug is a great MC and knows how to keep the party alive. The music selection was great, the uplighting was gorgeous, the games were fun. The entire evening was seamless, and our whole wedding experience was great. We would recommend Doug and Dara to anyone looking for more than just music for their wedding.
They did a good job and kept the flow going very smooth, but they played the wrong song for the bride to walk down the isle to and she was very upset about that. The song was sung by a dear friend of the bride and recorded specifically for the bride which took a lot of time, effort and money-and instead he played a different cover on the song.
Awesome duo of DJ's! Doug & Dara did an awesome job @ my wedding at the Grand Island Mansion on Sept 15th, 2013. They kept everything flowing nicely. With Doug as the Dj & Dara doing coordinating & direction it's a great set up! Couple of things... during speeches I asked them to open it up after my family speeches to guests to speak and The DJ closed it off, my mom had to open it up & we got a lot of nice, heartfelt speech from my friends/ family & especially 87yr old grandfather papa. Also, my sister aka matron of honor was supposed to do the 1st speech Not the best man ( who had practically done nothing for the wedding except for show up) my sister did so many amazing things should had gone 1st which I had also told them about before hand, not sure what happened! Anyways all in all they both did a awesome...AMAZING Job!!!!!! Very detailed oriented! The flow of the wedding worked out perfect. We had the best day ever!!! If your looking for a DJ look no further! Thank You!!!!!!! :)
Terrific, music, MC, everything!! Doug did everything that we asked and had wonderful suggestions that we incorporated in our reception.
Doug and Dara did a fantastic job at our wedding. They co-ordinated everything which made it a lot easier for us, less to worry about. I loved that they helped with our ceremony seating, rehearsal, and provided a lot of details that we hadn't thought about. Many people commented that the voice over that I did for my dad during the daddy-daughter dance was their favorite part of the wedding. This was Doug & Dara's idea. My only complaint was that they played the wrong version of our first dance song so we still had part of our choreographed dance left when the song ended. The guests didn't seem to notice. They did give us a discount for my husband being active duty military. Very nice. I would highly recommend them.
Doug and Dara were awesome! Our wedding went really well, the guests enjoyed themselves and transitions went so smoothly, we didn't even need a wedding planner (not even for the day of!) Doug and Dara thought of many details that we hadn't even thought of. They even came to our rehearsal to make sure we were all on the same page.
My only complaint is that I wish they'd told us we were trying to fit in too much for the amount of time we had. Our guests didn't have as much time as we wanted to dance because our schedule was so full!
i had a wonderful experience with these djs. They nor only
Helped coordinate the rehearsal and ceremon, they did an amazing job at the reception. I would highly recommend them. They are easy to work with. Actually last minute we realized we didn't have music for the picture montage that was created and they through something together for us! Great music and a great time!
DJ Doug and Dara were awesome. Our day would not have been perfect with out them. Well worth the price.
Wonderful to work with. Very organized! They coordinate the whole day so everything goes really smooth. They thought of stuff I didn't!
Doug and Dara did the best job. They were so organized, professional, and fun, and they worked not only as DJs, but also as wedding coordinators and entertainers. They were there for the rehearsal, and on the day of, they made sure everything flowed. They led the processional, grand entrance, first dance, cake cutting, garter throw, bouquet toss, etc. EVERYTHING! They played the best music to ensure everyone got up and danced. We LOVED them. They had so many ideas to make our wedding personal and fun. I highly recommend them.
EXCELLENT, THEY MADE THE PARTY, DID ALL AND MORE, WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN IN A MINUTE, VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CREATIVE, EVERYONE LOVED THEM!
Doug and Dara (especially Dara) were amazing. They met with us multiple times and worked out all the details. We were totally relaxed the day of the wedding because we knew it was all handled. Our guests loved them as well. Win-Win
I saw the lady at the Arden Hills Wedding Show a year and a half prior to my wedding date. I instantly clicked with her, and thought they would be a perfect match for our wedding.
Of course, I changed my wedding date, and Doug and Dara were not available but Doug Harmon was available, Dara's husband, who had lots of experience and was very nice upon meeting. I thought, ok, I believed in their brochure and their guarantee of having a 'unique' experience catered to what I wanted and needed. I booked them.
I had several surprises for my husband during the event and let the DJ know as he was needed for a few of them. He was very excited about the things I had planned and was 100 percent on board. I was really excited about his excitment!
As the date came closer, I was surprised that he made no efforts to contact me as I had not turned in to him what I needed to turn in to him (a 60 second personal intro for the bride and groom, and song requests...) I decided to send him a long email to remind him of the special things I had planned. I did not receive a return email; but a week and a half later received a call from his wife/co-worker to schedule a time to come in to the studio for some recording I wanted to do. When I asked her if he had received my email, she said I guess so, because he asked me to call you to set this up...
We drove down to the recording studio, and recorded, but two weeks later we had to do it again because something was wrong with the equipment. (it is a 45 minute drive from our house).
Things got hectic towards the wedding, and I forgot to email the 60 second intro. While I take the blame, I feel that I was paying the DJ service to make the follow-up reminder call that this needs to be done if we want that extra special touch. had I gotten a reminder call, I could've easily written somthing up...it just did not end up on our to do list for last minute things.
The next time I saw the DJ was at our reception, helping us to line up for the grand entrance. He was polite, as expected, but ran slow.
I had made it clear that we wanted all of the traditional stuff done early in the night, so we could enjoy a few hours of dancing. This did not happen and the evening dragged. He said he would come with games and interaction with the guests; this did not happen. When I went up and told him that guests were leaving, he got on the mic and said, "Don't leave folks, we've got some things coming up.." I was shocked. I spent the entire night disappointed that things moved so slowly.
He didn't remember my special little touches either, and my sister went from table to table, running in her heels, to let people know...I didn't know about this until later.
I love them as people, and Dara's customer service is Five Stars. Unfortunately, they missed the mark with sending Doug out on this. I wished I would've went with someone else when I found out that Doug #1 and Dara were not available for my wedding.
EVERYTHING! He was able to provide music choices and similar songs when we weren't sure what to play. he was able to set up everything and knew my site like the back of his hand. He met with us thee times to get everything right. Extremely organized and professional and will play an eact list you give him or will make great choices based on what you tell him you like to listen to. Our reception was the best wedding I've EVER attended thanks to him.
