I first visited Natalie's Bridal after not finding what I wanted or less than stellar customer service at a couple local bridal shops. I was initially very impressed with the sales person, Jessica. She was helpful and knowledgeable and was the ...only place I visited that didn't cringe when I stated that my wedding was less than 2 months away. I was aware that I would need to buy off the rack and require alterations. They actually did have a decent selection of dresses to choose from. This is where my satisfaction ended. I've seen other reviews that accuse them of ordering too large, only to require extensive alterations. I didn't order my dress (however my 3 bridesmaids did and all 3 were huge in the bust). I took my dress in for an alteration "quote" and was informed that I would need $50 (cash only). As I was paying this, I asked the salesperson what happens if I don't like the quote? She said if I decided to not have them done there then I would receive $25 back. The other $25 would be for her time. I spent approximately 25 min with the seamstress and all seeemed fine until we were done and she gave me a quote of nearly $450! This was a fairly simple alteration). She even looked uncomfortable saying it. I later called to decline the "quote" and made arrangements to pick up my dress. I have no problem paying someone for their time, however I would think they would've at least left the pins in it!
If you don't mind being nickel and dimed every time you walk in the store, this may be the place for you. Spend a thousand bucks on a dress that comes in the thinnest plastic cover you could find. But they'll sell you a dress bag for $30!
Oh, and the $450 alterations? I had done for $110 and it was done IN THE SAME DAY. Keep in mind that your costs will be double, as the seamstress gets 50% and Natalie gets the other half. Makes sense that they would benefit from required alterations.
The worst part was the tuxes. Although they advertise $79 tuxes, I didn't inquire about that so I'm not concerned about it. What I am concerned with is the fact that my tuxes would not require a jacket, or the shoes or eventually even the ties (I couldn't find any colors that matched the bridesmaid dresses that we purchased there). The cost? Almost $170. No discount for 1/2 a tux. Yes, I could have PURCHASED the pants, vest and shirts elsewhere for less. With no time to do so, the rentals were ordered. When they came in, I happened to pick up my fiancées tux. He would try it on and if anything didn't fit he would bring it in himself the following day when the other groomsmen were coming in. Had I not done so, I never would have seen that the vests were wrong. When I brought it in to let them know, I was told that these were what I ordered from the book. I never ordered from the book, I specified from their display. I was then told that Natalie was on the phone with the tux company and it would be $80 to ship the vests overnight. And they would split the cost with me. How generous of them...to split the cost...to fix their mistake. Not to mention, I can only assume that the actual cost was probably $40 and wouldn't cost them a dime. After speaking with Natalie, whom I had to ask for while she hid in the back letting her employee take the brunt of the angry bride, she finally relented and agreed to cover it. Of course she didn't take any responsibility for the issue (even saying, "well I didn't place the order!"). To be continued...yes there's more....
