The beginning of my experience with the Bridal Suite was off to a great start. I live in Denver, but because my mother lives north of Seattle, I opted to fly out to visit her so she could come with me to see me try on gowns. Although they had a... trunk show that weekend for a different designer than who I wanted, they made accommodations for me and I opted for a dress that was not in stock in store, but I felt confident that it was the one.
Fast forward 5 months, I get the email that my gown was to be delivered to the store, but since I am a Wedding Coordinator and the season is still going strong for me, I had asked if they could ship my gown to my place of business in Denver. However, because the sales tax is not processed until the gown arrives, I had asked them to still charge the sales tax to my Step Mothers card (which was on file since she purchased the gown for me), and for the shipping charges to be charged to my own card. Never received a confirmation email.
The next day, I get a ping from my account that it was overdrawn. Sure enough, the sales tax AND shipping had been charged to my card. Not what I had asked for. I emailed my contacts for the Bridal Suite immediately, asking that they follow through on what I had originally instructed. Instead, I got a voice mail, stating that they did that because Denver tax is smaller than Seattle tax (so essentially they felt that they were doing me a favor).
Okay. Well, we were already prepared to pay the Seattle tax, and a heads up would have been nice. On top of that, when the shipping notification email came through, the address was wrong.
They fixed the address, but when I asked for the $188 to be refunded back to my card and the payments processed as originally intended, I got an excuse that it's illegal to refund sales tax, but sorry for any inconvenience.
I'll say there's an inconvenience! Because of this I was unable to pay my car payment this month. That's a pretty damn big inconvenience. All in all, my gown arrived and is exactly what I had visioned. But overall my experience was poor in the end.
If you are trusted with processing payments for a Bride's purchases, you probably should check with them first before you think you are doing them a favor.
