We had our wedding Saturday and we had Tony from NW event sounds. He went above and beyond my expectations! Everything was done as i wanted. All my favorite songs were played. I literally never left the dance floor. 100/10 recommend!!!
We hired Pete with NW Event Sound in 2020, just before the pandemic. He was fantastic at communicating with us throughout our 2 postponements. He also performed his MC duties wonderfully. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this company after our entire experience because we got passed off to another DJ for the second half of our event.
Less than a month before our wedding day we became aware that Pete would not be the only DJ and he would be joined by someone named DJ Erwin. We spoke to Pete on the phone and he explained that he would take care of all the MC work and once the open dance party started DJ Erwin would take over. We had our final details meeting over zoom 3 days prior to our wedding day, where we were supposed to meet DJ Erwin but he did not show. We asked Pete beforehand when our final songs list should be finished and he told us by the final details meeting. We finished it the day before the meeting.
Fast forward to the wedding day, Pete was great from our ceremony through dinner with all the MC duties.
However, when the open dance party started and DJ Erwin took over everything went downhill. He did not have the updated songs list which was a huge disappointment after how long I worked on it. He was working off of a preliminary list we had made a month before. Not only that but he had no concept of how to blend songs, stopping them in the middle of verses sometimes. Every transition was abrupt, to the point where several guests pointed it out to us the next day. I would have rather just had every song play all the way through than what he was doing. My other issue is that there were things on our do not play list that got played. Hearing our guests complain about the DJ was super disappointing.
Overall, Pete did a great job and I would recommend him if it was just him. He was great to communicate with and did his job well. Unfortunately he dropped the ball passing it on to DJ Erwin and vouching for someone who did not do a good job. I would not recommend DJ Erwin.
These people are total crooks. I am not sure how they have a 4 star rating here on theknot.com. Google reviews shows 3 stars and even that is too much. I had been communicating with Pete for a year about our wedding, he even came to see the venue in advance so that he would know how many uplights we needed, etc. Then about a month before our wedding he told me that he would be coming with one other DJ because our wedding is not a one-person event. On our wedding day Pete did not show up, only the other DJ did and he was completely unprepared and had no idea what to do. He did not bring even close to the amount of uplights we needed so we had to get more from another vendor last minute which cost us an extra $3,000. We ended up having our coordinators make the MC announcements and put on a premade playlist for the dancing because this guy (Troy) was terrible at picking music and even at announcements. We thought we were getting a good deal paying so much less for this DJ than other companies charge, and now we know why. DO NOT BOOK THIS DJ.
Ed was fantastic, he was so involved in making sure we had a great experience. He prioritized what was important to us and communicated really well every step of the way. We highly recommend him!
Ed Morris w/ NW Event Sound was not our originally booked DJ but eagerly stepped in when our original DJ had to retired due to the health reasons. He was very enthusiastic about our event and even honored our request for all staff to be vaccinated and got his covid vaccine so that he could participate in our event. He kept good music going during the reception and it was a heck of a party.
We are happy that he was excited to work our event but we had a few issues with Ed. He ended up asking a lot of the same questions throughout the process which showed a lack of listening. Throughout the wedding planning process, his communication methods were also inconsistent and a bit overwhelming. He asked a lot of the same questions of many different people including bride, groom, and coordinator.
He also asked very frequently for us to view his website and approached the bride and groom on the night of the wedding to ask for a review.
I understand it's a tough world out there for business owners, but it got to a frustrating point for all of us.
Our biggest complaint is that Ed was fiddling with sound equipment during our vows causing noise and feedback. He had a music que during our exchange of rings that should have been prepared prior to the ceremony. We now have speaker feedback in our wedding video which is disappointing.
Ed also brought personnel that was not approved into our space. He let us know in advance that he would be bringing one extra person which we approved but there was one other person ( I can only assume to be an intern) running around with him as well which was not approved and could have compromised our fully vaccinated event.
Ed has things to work on, but despite the communication issues, Ed is a very positive and kind person. He always came to table with a good attitude, he was flexible and always on time. His setup looked great and he kept the music going all night. He was set up and out of the venue on time. Ed also provided lots of his own lighting which really helped us in a space that needed lots of DIY elements.
ED was very helpful and was always there to help! He listened to everything we wanted. He was amazing and friendly.
We had a great wedding, but the DJ did not contribute at all to making our day special. At least one thing goes wrong at a wedding, and for us, that was NW Event Sound. And while it didn't "ruin" our wedding, it left a sour taste in our mouths and we wished we had hired someone else. We spoke with Pete leading up to our wedding and was excited to use his services. A week before the wedding, he got hurt and called us to tell us he found a replacement. We get it, life happens. His replacement was an employee, Ed Morris. He brought lights, all of his own equipment, dressed professionally. Where things went downhill was when he actually started DJ-ing. The songs we requested through their own dj portal were not played, and a bunch of random songs no one knew kept getting played. This killed the dance vibe. Also, when he announced what was happening next during the reception, he didn't speak clearly and no one could hear him or knew what was next on the agenda. Pete assured me they would sync up with the photographers so that no special moments would be missed, but that wasn't is the case. The worst part was that the music kept stopping abruptly, completely killing the vibe. My wife's bridesmaids and friends planned a surprise choreographed dance and was a huge surprise and wonderful! And about a minute in, the audio froze completely. Ed kept trying to replay it but it kept freezing at different parts. Finally, a bridesmaid used her own phone to get it working. Everytime the music froze, you could feel the tension in the room build. Our guests would groan and sigh when the music stopped and it was embarrassing. It boggles my mind that the person we pay to do one job of playing music, is not capable of doing that job. My brother with spotify would've been better. We reached out to Pete, Ed, and Tone (the boss) after the wedding to get feedback, but we have heard nothing but silence. No answer or apology. I do not recommend their services. Luckily, we can joke about this now, but the butt of the joke is NW Event Sound. Our friends tell us, "your wedding was amazing! Except for that DJ!"
I was treated so poorly by these folks. Our wedding reception got cancelled due to covid and Pete and I had in our contact that in that case with enough notice my retainer would be refunded. When cancelling I talked to Pete who enthusiastically said of course the retainer would be returned and that it was actually against state law not to do so. He said he'd get it to me in a few days. That was back in August.
I called him multiple times to check in on the status of the refund, waiting enough time in case there were issues on his end. I sent emails. Nothing, no response. I finally called a different company number where Tony(?) told me that Pete had left the company which they bought from him and they didn't have my retainer. I was shocked. Since the contract was still with NW Sound they said they'd arrange for a refund but it might take a few weeks . That was in September. Same situations. - called a few times, left messages and no follow up at all.
I understand covid has been hard on businesses and can put them in a tough situation. But I don't appreciate being lied to repeatedly about what actions will be taken and then outright ignored/avoided. I am just so thankful I didn't end having these folks as my actual DJs at a party because I can only imagine how poorly that would go given their poor communication and lack if professionalism in this case.
My entire ceremony was ruined by the DJ playing the wrong songs, music cutting in and out, etc. Our reception entrance was over an hour late because he didn’t know what he was doing, and they didn’t play any of our songs on the list we provided them. I was then promised a refund but after following up, I was basically told that they didn’t believe me, none of it happened (even though I had video evidence as well as emails written to the company supporting my claim from other vendors as well as guests) and that they would not refund me. We don’t even have a video of our wedding now because the ceremony was so horrific. Very disappointed and cannot believe I paid for this.
Tony, Or DJ Tone, did an unbelievable job at our wedding. This was the first time I had ever done an event and needed a DJ and choosing can be a bit overwhelming. My conversation with the NW sound team was wonderful and they made the process so easy. They were very communicative up to the day of our wedding. Setup was a breeze, and he made such an amazing MC! We hardly had to do anything, he was so attentive and understanding. I have referred them to quite a few people so far as well, everyone had such a great time!!
NW Event Sound did such an amazing job with our wedding. They were responsive and professional. It was super easy to provide a song list and to provide a layout of how we envisioned the ceremony and reception going, and they followed it perfectly. They did an excellent job pumping up our crowd and keeping the energy going. The music was top notch--nobody left the dance floor all night! Would highly recommend
Pete and his assistant were absolutely amazing! From the planning process all the way through our wedding and reception were smoothly ran. They made the wedding and reception a good time for everyone. I would highly recommend them for any wedding event or MCing event that you need in the future.
Played all my playlists, did an excellent job setting up and MCing. So easy to talk to and coordinate with. Made the shoe game for us faded out songs when people weren't vibing, had to set up in two different places, super reasonably priced!
We hired Pete for our ceremony and reception, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Our original wedding date ended up being postponed due to covid, and Pete was so accommodating and understanding through the process of switching dates. He is an amazing DJ and his emcee services kept everything running smoothly and on track. Even with a last minute change in the ceremony, it ran perfectly and Pete was so accommodating. I can’t thank Pete enough for the amazing job he did and how good he was at keeping everything on track. So many of our guests also commented on how great he was. NW Event Sound is outstanding, and if you are looking for a DJ, I would 110% recommend them over and over again.
Pete and the NW sound team literally helped save our wedding day! I can’t speak highly enough of how impressed and grateful that I am. Hiring him was one of the best decisions of our wedding day. From the very first phone call I had with Pete just to feel things out (since I had no clue how to pick a DJ), I immediately felt a comforting that he knew exactly what he was doing and it helped put me at ease. It was an instant decision to book him after just one call. He answered so many of my lengthy questions and took the challenge of an abnormal COVID experience head on. My husband wanted to have a silent disco and I had no clue how it would even work. I shared my feelings on it with Pete and he said no sweat and made everything so easy! We shared our playlists with him and coordinated the most seamless, easy, and FUN silent disco. Our guests said it was one of the funnest weddings they had ever been to...all thanks to Pete! Finally, he saved the ceremony. Our venue had their own sound guy pre-arranged initially to run the ceremony music and I was mortified after the rehearsal got derailed. I called Pete in a panic asking if he could do the ceremony music for us too and he said absolutely. He totally put me at ease that it would all work out and made everything so easy. Our ceremony turned out perfect thanks to him. The value of his services is one of the best on the market in all my research and is a MUST hire. I’d rate him 10 stars if I could!
