Our Story
Blake began officiating weddings in 2013 and the same year he started his first company within the industry, Weddings By Blake. Over a two-year period, Blake officiated hundreds of weddings, but it was during this time that he discovered his true passion: wedding planning and execution. Through hard work and perseverance, Blake became a Certified Wedding Planner with The Association of Bridal Consultants. In 2016 Blake rebranded the company to Occasions Events & Design. Tiffany and Alex joined the Occasions Leadership team in 2023.

- Blake HerreraChief Executive Officer, Certified Wedding PlannerBlake began officiating weddings in 2013 and the same year he started his first company within the industry, Weddings By Blake. Over a two-year period, Blake officiated hundreds of weddings, but it was during this time that he discovered his true passion: wedding planning and execution. Through hard work and perseverance, Blake became a Certified Wedding Planner with The Association of Bridal Consultants. In 2016 Blake rebranded the company to Occasions Events & Design. For the next four years, Blake continued to provide the DFW area with the highest quality service. In 2020, Occasions Events & Design merged with Michaelz Media and became a powerhouse in the industry. In 2021, Blake took a step back from Occasions to spend more quality time with his family, while taking a consultant role. During his time off, Blake never felt content and was overcome by the urge to return to the business he built from the ground up. He began a partnership with Tiffany Hartman, a graphic artist with over 20 years of experience (and current Chief Operating Officer), and together they began restructuring Occasions and its services while taking care to ensure our clients and their events are our TOP PRIORITY. Our team is constantly growing, so while Blake himself may not be your lead coordinator, we can assure you he oversees every aspect of your event down to the last detail. One of Blake’s greatest strengths is his attention to detail, his eye for design is unrivaled, and his A-Z planning style will guarantee that your experience will be one to remember.
- Alex GogginCCO + Senior Event LeadAlex began working in the weddings industry on a whim when Blake asked her to join the team for an event in 2017, and has been in love with event planning and execution ever since. Her passion is helping Blake grow the business and providing the highest level of quality for weddings and events of all sizes. For her there is truly nothing more rewarding than helping our clients create their dream event, whatever it takes. After taking some time away from the industry to grow her family and focus on building her skills, she is excited to return to events and to Occasions as a partner with Blake and Tiffany. Alex has extensive recent experience in managing and leading operational teams, training top-notch staff, and managing client and vendor relationships, and she is ready to put her skills to work for our clients! As Chief Customer Officer, Alex will work with Blake to ensure every aspect of our clients' events meets their satisfaction, including training and staffing event teams, communicating with clients to build their vision with them, and cultivating relationships with our industry's leading vendors to provide the highest level of quality service. We cannot recommend Occasions Events + Design highly enough! They brought our dream wedding to life with incredible attention to detail and creativity. From the towering cherry blossom florals to the perfectly executed book- and movie-themed elements, everything was beyond what we imagined. They designed stunning terrarium centerpieces with florals, paired with glowing book lantern lights, charming book quote cutouts, and even an antique door photo booth setup for our Polaroid station—complete with a welcome book for guests to sign. It all felt so personal and magical.
They even created beautiful custom wedding programs for our guests in multiple languages, designed as elegant little booklets—such a thoughtful and inclusive touch that meant so much to us and our families.
One of the most above-and-beyond moments? They helped get our cat and dog back home safely after the ceremony and before the reception, giving us total peace of mind during such a busy day.
The team stayed far beyond the contracted hours to make sure every element was just right. They were always prompt, professional, friendly, and full of amazing ideas to make our day even more special as things came up. Thanks to their support, the entire day flowed seamlessly with no hiccups.
Occasions Events + Design truly went above and beyond. We’re so grateful for everything they did and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for a team that genuinely cares and delivers excellence.

I cannot recommend Occasions Events & Design enough! Blake Herrera and his assistant Frida made our wedding day the best stress-free day ever! Having Blake working behind the scenes was the best gift I gave myself and having him as the contact person for all of my other vendors took a lot off of my to do list. They did an exceptional job of setting up the decorations without my having to micro-manage every detail. Blake also worked well with my venue event planner to get us space to store the decorations after the wedding. When Frida followed me around so she could hold my glasses while we took pictures all the while handing me water to stay hydrated, I truly felt like a princess. I truly wish I could hire them to be my everyday assistant!

Occasions Events and Designs have done nothing but exceed expectations! Blake has been so incredibly responsive from the beginning, responding to even the smallest of questions within 24 hours (but commonly within only minutes to a few hours). Frida and Shea who we worked with the day of the wedding were so patient, calm, and I could not be more thankful to how much they helped direct everyone (including myself!) throughout the entire day. These people are truly professionals and so pleasant to work with. They made sure that everything ran as smoothly as possible with no hiccups! They truly helped to make our special day perfect!

Ashley M. was fantastic on day of wedding. She worked hard and fast when I couldn’t make up my mind. 100% did it all. Even taking care of all the kiddos.
Working with Blake leading up to our wedding was phenomenal. He always made sure to answer the phone or text back quickly. He listened to ideas and gave me feedback.

Blake and Frida were AMAZING! They helped our day to run smoothly and perfectly. They were very attentive to the bride and groom the whole night. They worked so great with every vendor and were dependable. Blake took every phone call from us and took the time to help with all of our questions and nerves. We really cannot say enough about them and how magical they helped our day/night to be! We will 100% recommend them to everyone!!

If you're remotely considering OE+D, hire them now! I had the absolute privilege of working with Alex as my month-of coordinator for my May 2024 wedding, and to say she kept me sane is a gross understatement. Alex is a superstar. She is highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective, on top of being a simply wonderful person. She coordinated a 450-person multicultural wedding for us, and both my husband and I were blown away by how smoothly our day went. Our wedding had a large number of vendors and variables, and I'm sure things went wrong behind the scenes, but as the bride, the evening was completely seamless. Alex checked in on us throughout the evening and was patient, kind, and cheerful despite the long day. I can't sing her and the rest of the team's praises enough. We were lucky to work with them, and you would be too!

Mother of the bride here. I want to THANK and commend Blake and Alexandra and Occasions and Events + Designs team! What a wonderful professional company. I was able to enjoy every minute of our daughter’s wedding because of their management. Every detail, from ceremony and reception set up were perfect. They kept the schedule on track and moved seamlessly from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. They were quick to respond and communicate. Additionally, Blake and Alex were so personable and pleasant! Highly Recommend !!!!

Blake and Alex were absolutely WONDERFUL. They both were so nice, so accommodating, and so professional. They were calm but moved quickly, while making sure my wedding party was where they needed to be, when they needed to be. They made sure the day was so stress free for me and my husband. I only booked them for day of coordination but from the moment i hired them, i was able to reach out with questions. They never made me feel like i was a bother and they got back to me so quick each time. They went above and beyond to make sure the decorations were perfectly placed, the caterer and all the vendors were taken care of, and they even packed everything up for me. I cant speak highly enough of them, book them!!

Blake and his team are the best in the industry, hands down. We booked him for a full wedding package. He made sure everything was perfect for us. During the planning process, he was always easy to reach and very patient with our many questions. He was super communicative throughout the entire engagement period. He gave great recommendations for vendors too. Even if we decided to go with other vendors, he was extremely professional and took everything in-stride. He was highly organized: he kept detailed notes for all our requests and meetings and ensured we were always aware of how things were progressing by using a Trello board, which was extremely assuring! I’m a Type A perfectionist, so I was worried about leaving everything in someone else’s hands but it was SO SO easy to relax because I knew he was taking care of it. I couldn’t recommend a more competent wedding planner. If you’re on the fence or even just starting your search for a wedding planner, I can confidently say your search is done! You found the best! Blake and his team won’t let you down!

Hiring Blake and his team was one of the best decisions I made wedding planning. I originally thought I could handle minor tasks or delegate responsibilities on the day to our venue coordinator, but quickly found that having Blake on the team was a lifesaver. One of the rare services Blake provides that other day-of coordinators do not is set up and break down of your venue. Many other planners tacked on $500+ for these tasks -- Blake simply included it in his very affordable package. I would recommend Blake and his team to every bride in the DFW area looking for a reliable, responsive, and friendly team. My bridesmaids cannot stop talking about how awesome he was getting them drinks and snacks during picture-taking.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience with the Occasions Events and Design team! We mainly worked with Blake Herrera, who I can't say enough amazing things about. He took a very complex and stressful wedding planning experience and made it achievable, while prioritizing our vision and our happiness. I loved how he started each call with "What is stressing you out? What can I take off of your plate?"
They provide a lot of services in-house as well (can make signs, design and print stationary, rentals for centerpieces, floral arrangements, etc.) which is way better than looking for a different vendor for each thing you need AND great quality as well. If you're thinking about hiring a wedding coordinator - give this company a call! Don't walk, RUN! :)

I was hesitant to hire any planning services because I was worried about trusting a stranger with such a big event in my life, and I tend to be be very particular and like to feel in-control. However, I could not recommend Occasions enough. We hired Blake for month-of coordination, which wound up being exactly when I was losing my mind and needed help the most! I am stunned that we got Blake and his team with their skill level and amazing service for the price that we did. They were our angels the entire month before the wedding and on the day. We had an entire team of 3 catering to our every need. They asked lots of amazing questions to get to know us and our personalities and very clearly used that to guide how they managed and handled everything. They managed all vendors and timelines leading up to the day (we had already hired everyone and Blake took over communication), they set up ALL of the decor (my family and I DIY-ed almost everything), and they executed my vision perfectly. Blake attended our final meeting with the venue and DJ and was polite, sitting back to let me lead, but pushed back and supported me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted when it was needed. In cases where decisions needed to be made and I felt overwhelmed, Blake made suggestions and made the decisions feel lighter. I emailed and texted Blake thoughts and vendor needs at the most random times and he kept track of everything and made sure to remind me (so gently and sweetly) when I was supposed to submit something. Blake even picked up all of our decor and our alcohol order for us before the wedding to deliver to the venue on wedding day. The whole experience went so smoothly and I cannot imagine having done it without Blake. We even had an unexpected security lockdown in the neighborhood during the actual wedding…and the Occasions team made sure not only that we were safe, but that only the critical people knew and the party kept going. I had no idea til my mom told me the next day, and I had a complete worry-free blast. Blake and his team are the best and made my wedding a dream. If you are on the fence, don’t be. Hiring OED was the best wedding decision that we made.

TJ was amazing. she went above and beyond to make sure that things went well. She carried backup supplies that came in handy and was enormously helpful before, during and after the wedding to organize, direct the vendors , followed the program well and was always there when you needed her. So energetic and happy to help. She made our wedding day easy.
The only disappointment was TJ's assistant . I think her assistant's name was Alison, she was nice and helpful at the beginning of the event but during the event she left because her brother went missing which was completely understandable, then she returned to the event, as it was a false alarm. Then she disappeared before the event came to an end, without telling anyone even TJ. The end of the event is when help is needed the most and Alison was no where to be found and because of that, my husband and I had to help TJ remove and pack items from the venue, as it was too much reorganizing for TJ to do by herself. so on our wedding night we had to work.
To TJ alone 5 stars to her assistant 3 stars .

WOW- I don't know where to begin to express how amazing OED was for us throughout our whole wedding process. I don't think this review will do justice to just how grateful we were for this amazing team. Blake was an absolute hero for us several times, going above and beyond the call of duty when COVID, venue closures, and weather threw a wrench into our wedding plans. Blake also did the flowers for our ceremony and reception, and they were simply stunning- I got so many compliments on how beautiful my bouquet was! When we were finally able to celebrate our wedding, Blake and TJ crushed it; all of our decor and everything was set up perfectly, and we didn't have to worry about A THING the entire day. Our wedding day was perfect thanks to the team at OED and I will continue to recommend them to everyone I know for the foreseeable future.

TJ and her assistant, Emily, were phenomenal from start to finish. By the end of the day, we felt like they were family. They did the heavy lifting so we could enjoy the big day. They were professional, responsive to needs, creative, warm and friendly, responsive, reliable, and attentive to detail. I recommend them without reservation!

Blake and his amazing team were recommended by the venue at Hollow Hills Event Center and we are forever grateful! We were forced to reschedule our wedding due to COVID and there is no way we would have moved through the occasion as gracefully without Blake. This team is super attentive, responsive and amazingly organized which not only made the wedding beautiful, the wedding party was able to enjoy the festivities knowing the folks at Occasions Events & Design were all over the details! I can't say enough good things about Occasions Events and Design to make anyone understand how amazing they are! Short story...HIRE THEM!!! Long story...Blake was our wedding coordinator and he absolutely far exceeded our expectations. He worked through every single aspect of our wedding with us and handled it with professionalism, expediency, and care. He provided us references for vendors, contract review services, task management, excellent communication and so much more. Planning our wedding was so much fun and was incredibly easy because I had Blake to oversee everything. The Occasions team ensured that we had the prefect wedding day and I can't thank them enough for all of their hard work. At first I wasn’t planning on hiring a planner or coordinator, but as the wedding got closer I began to get overwhelmed and knew I’d need someone I could trust to make the day run smoother. I’m so glad I found Blake with Occasions Events + Design for my day of coordinator! He fit my tight budget, and even had a discount for the venue I got married at. The day of the wedding he did everything from running my morning of rehearsal, to setting up my decorations, to making sure my new husband and I got food during the reception. It was so nice not having to direct everything myself, and if there were any problems during the day, I didn’t hear about it!

We used Occasions Events + Designs for our day of coordination services. They also have officiants so we were able to book that through them. The day of our wedding Blake was very sick, but he still showed up to make sure everything was set up correctly. Once things were in order he left to get some rest. Now some may start to panic, but Blake's two assistants picked up right where he left off and made sure our day went on without a hitch. Lisa the officiant was very friendly and did an amazing job officiating. Our ceremony was outdoors, it was 30 degrees and she didn't complain once about the cold. Although, I wouldn't blame her if she did. Occasions made our day absolutely perfect! I wholeheartedly recommend them!

I met Blake at a bridal show about 8 months before my 11/11/17 wedding. I hadn't even considered a planner when I met him. Blake offered full service planning at a great price and we hit it off right away; so I hired him! It was the best choice I made when it came to planning my wedding and I was so relieved to have him help. Blake did pretty much all the planning and had great recommendations and designs. His table designs were beautiful, he was very thorough, organized, and quick to respond to texts, emails, and phone calls. I highly recommend Blake and his team for your event.

I could not have made it through the wedding process without Blake. He has a remarkable ability to anticipate the needs of everyone around. From my perspective, everything ran perfectly smooth (which I'm sure was not the case but Blake being the professional he is fixed everything without me ever knowing there was an issue). I was able to just sit back and actually enjoy my wedding because I knew Blake had everything covered.
